John Kerry confirms to MSNBC he opposed Iraq War he voted to authorize

Secretary of State John Kerry famously was for the Iraq War before he was against it, but in taking his case for military action against Syria to MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes” Thursday night, it certainly sounded like he remembers things differently from the rest of America.

Didn’t we untangle all of this in 2004? Apparently not.

MSNBC has posted a transcript of the interview, and Kerry makes no mention of his vote to authorize military action in Iraq. Instead, he refers to the good old days when he and Chuck Hagel “opposed the president’s decision to go into Iraq.”

How does he continue to get voted into office. …low info voters

    • Mike

FYI, He was appointed to his position not voted into it.

      • Jeff McCabe

only reason he has his current job is that Mass voters kept voting for him.

        • URGR82

Thanks Jeff that is my point.

  • URGR82

Tell a lie often enough even you believe it

  • therealguyfaux

Secretary Kerry opposed the Iraq War. Secretary Kerry has ALWAYS opposed the Iraq War.

I don’t know about anyone else thinks, but the fact that Lurch is our Secretary of State scares the living $hit out of me. We are really screwed!

    • Peyton

I think the real Lurch would be preferable. We got the knock off Lurch.

      • arttie

        • Peyton

Faux Lurch. Give the real Lurch some credit guys, atleast he could do his job.

      Coupled with Hagel <== O.O

  • grais

That’s nuthin’. Wait till Hillary’s campaign starts.

  • Peyton

He didn’t vote for it, the world voted for it… #LiberalLogic

  • wwbdinct

He’s just rewriting history. Certainly Joan Walsh is all on board with that.

  • J. Cox

He voted no until he heard from 34 different countries to vote yes.He still can only name ketchupistan as 1 of the countries.

    • Suzyqpie

There has been no follow up on the “34 countries” statement at all. Stunning, they no longer have to get even close to the truth.

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      I’ve only heard (on FOX NEWS, no less) of only SEVEN (7) potential Allies…Among them:Australia, Canada (EH?) and Kosovo…And, while John EFFIN’ Kerry flips and flops, KING FINK OBAMA usurps the airwaves with his usual drivel…. Jawamax 8<{D}

  • in_awe

You know you’re in deep kimchee when Putin is more believable than the President and the Secretary of State…just sayin’

  • Maxx

Liberals rewriting history is as common as pork chops with apple sauce. Nothing new here. In ten years, watch how many journalists write that Obama wasn’t qualified to be President.

  • magnuscarta

    What difference does it make?

  • IceColdTroll

Oh, I know, I know! He opposed the war, but voted for it for the sake of solidarity and presenting a united face to the world.

  • RLEE

Obama didn’t draw a red line Kerry didn’t vote to go to Iraq Holder had nothing to do with fast and furious and the msm covers for these clowns and there base defends them! How do you deal with people like this?

I saw what you did there….

  • gman213

He always opposes things before he supports them. He leads from his behind too.

  • Michael_Brennick

His successor in the Senate, Fast Eddie Markey, has learned from Liveshot John Kerry…..Eddie voted “present” in the Foreign Relations Committee vote on Syria.

    • Michael Anderson (WB)

      Sounds like Presidential material.

  • Rulz

So the one thing we have to look forward too are Kerry’s continued flip-flops on illegal wars.

That Kerry was a completely different person.

Well, his face is completely different anyway

  • Terry

In that interview (and elsewhere) Kerry has compared Assad to Hitler and Saddam Hussein. So while he says he was against the Iraq war, he admits that Hussein was as bad as Hitler. Does that mean he didn’t care about the Kurdish parents, grandparents and children that Hussein gassed? (it was a lot more than 1,400)

  • Roto

Jon must be gr8 at shaking his head yes, and saying no. Does he play the drums too?

  • 0bamasnought

Let me put it this way.

John Kerry is a liar. As Mr. Putin stated; he lies beautifully. John Kerry has made a career out of telling some of the most outlandish cock and bull stories I have ever heard uttered.

And I have been a judge at numerous liar contests, so that is actually saying something.

Now, think of this, when has the media ever called him on it? They have created this Monster, and they protect. and enable it.

I’m going to grab the trashcan o’popcorn, and the beer hat, and enjoy the show.

  • Kawaei

good ole Lefties…they always say the opposite of what they said before, and the media wont call him out ala the “worlds” red line

  • Acethepug

Why WOULDN’T Kerry lie? Obama has done nothing BUT lie in five years, and the rumpswab apologist Media has done nothing but cover for him. Anything contradictory gets shoved down the memory hole.

Lurch just expects (and is apparently receiving, at least from MSNBC) the same treatment.

Unfortunately for Lurch, Obama, and the Leftists, some people actually have long-term memories.

    • Reno Noone

Kerry and Obama lied – just as Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice, Powell, and Bush lied.
The American people are just …. easy to lie to.

  • yourmamatoo

This whole administration was against it before they were for it.
    The hypocrisy is astounding.

  • Guest

Maybe he can get his meddles back , after all he is now scoring points by reminding us of his military service. Service which he openly said he was ashamed off. I cant believe this traitorous patrician dilettante is secretary of state.

  • Stephen L. Hall

It’s like how Eric Holder knew nothing about the James Rosen case that he signed the warrant for.

  • floridavet

It seems that during this last week or so, John Kerry has someone taken the lead on the Syria problem – news conferences, statements, and such. I didn’t think things could be any scarier than having Barry in charge, but I guess I was wrong.

  • gman213

“What? They keep track of who votes which way? CRAP!”

  • John Kerry’s Forehead

Lies lies lies lies and more lies. Why not? Ain’t nobody going to call him your on it…he’s part of the O crowd, MSM just circles the wagons.
