Surprise, surprise: Boehner announces support for Obama on Syria; Update: Cantor’s on board as well

Alternative headline: Hugh Hewitt was right.

Flashback:

That was nearly a whole week ago. Obviously, all his questions have been answered.

Update:

  • Richard J Sunkle

    Scumbag.

    • Kevin Gallagher

The founding fathers would be ashamed that we haven’t started another revolution yet.

      • James Sessions

        very true

    • maxtcat

      Spineless scumbag, I think.

  • Joanne Fusco DeStefano

    WHIMP!

    • tedlv

      What does “whimp” mean, exactly?

      • objectivefactsmatter

A whining wimp is a “whimp.”

        It’s a portmanteau.

  • FreedomLuvr

I wonder if this is the reason for the underground bunkers across the country.

    • Seabee

You mean the “doomsday freepers”? I am preparing for mine.

    • Todd Klimchak

Those bunkers are for the top 5% and politicians. We get to fend for our selfs.

    • David

Those who prepared are the smart ones. I was too stupid to believe that the nation was being flushed down the toilet by Obama.

  • Betty Jo Steele Nelson

What part of the people saying NO don’t these fools get???

    • theal

Keep in mind, this is the same group that rammed Obamacare down our throats when the majority said we didn’t want it

    • GrindingMills

Ok, lets not attack the people that hacked the Marines website. Let’s not secure the WMDs in a war zone in which the Al Qaeda is present. Let’s not defend the interests of our strongest ally, Israel, who is actively preparing their missile defense programs to protect themselves from Assad. Let’s not protect our other allies, Jordan, Turkey and those in the Arab League who have denounced the Assad regime. Let’s not join our other allies France and Australia who are actively pushing for an attack. Let’s not attack the Iranian plant Assad. Let’s not punish a regime for committing war crimes.

I vehemently disagree with Obama on 99% of his policies, but I see a limited strike against Syria as being in the best interest of the United States and our allies. As the world’s leader, we carry the responsibility of being the world’s police, and whenever we do not act in that roll, we weaken our interests globally.

      • Becci Springer

Sorry, but America is no longer the world leader In anything. We do NOT carry the responsibility of policing the rest of the world. The only reason we are doing this is because Barry the great has deemed it so. because they crossed his “red line”. Barry has weakened our image all over the world. You send your children over there, then we shall see how you feel about this.

        • Donnie Schopp

Becci – . This is of National Security Interest and if you don’t see it, you need to think much broader than we are no longer the world leader.. When the President of the United States comes out and tells the world, chemical weapons of mass destruction is a RedLine and then a week later you have Syria who says Fu#### and does it??? Think a little before you join the masses..

          • capoprimo

I agree with what you’re advocating, but I also believe that the gas attack was a False Flag action that was intended on making Assad look bad. We’re playing right into Al Qaeda’s hand!

          • Donnie Schopp

How is shooting scud missile’s on chemical storage sites play into the hands of Al Qaeda’s? Just braise yourself, we are hitting them, with or with congress…

          • tedlv

Will you please translate that into English? It might be interesting.

          • maxtcat

IDK, sounds delicious to me the way it is. Lol

          • J. Cox

Just “braise” yourself….and you are trying to correct other people’s grammar. You are a sad troll indeed.

          • tedlv

            “with or with congress”… wow.

          • tedlv

And isn’t “scud missile’s” both possessive and a product of Russia?

          • J. Cox

Shhh…you are messing up his pre- written notes.Also..logic need not apply to people like him.

          • tedlv

            Sorry, JC. Forgive me.

          • inaguddadavita

i like the congress that means sex

          • inaguddadavita

Are you on the Jerry Springer show this week Donnie?

          • Michael Modes

            Tomahawks.

          • inaguddadavita

Another Imbecile …..Vietnam napalm innocent children….Hiroshima…innocent children….WMD Irag over 1 million dead….Afghanistan American aided locals raping boys stealing land killing anyone under your American supervision…American influence on all these and yet more..Do you not accept the fact ..YOU CANNOT DO ANY GOOD..All you do is bring more disfunctioning migrants into your country….My god you people are stupid….Your ignorant politicians who rely on Al Qaedas information( albeit unknown to your intelligent forces)Continually fuck up…..

          • tedlv

            Good one.

          • tedlv

An interesting and totally unrelated point, based you your handle…Inna Godda Da Vida by Iron Butterfly (and this is the version of the story I heard years ago, while working in the industry, which disagrees with the WIKI version) was a one hit wonder, which resulted from an extremely long studio session. The lead singer, tired and frustrated, decided to slur the words, growling “In the Garden of Eden” drunkenly, and the resulting take made a hit. Wiki disagrees with that version. Make your own decision.

          • inaguddadavita

            lol

          • Cyborg3K

It was about a year before I realized he WASN’T saying ‘Garden of Eden’.

          • The Penguin #PublishThatSh*t

How is it a National Security Interest for the US?

          • tedlv

Well, not really “national security” per se. But have you heard any more about the dozens of scandals perpetrated by this administration? Nope. Diversion is an excellent tactic. Saul Alinski would be proud.

          • J. Cox

How about that grammar….You care to criticize others after this,I dare call it a paragraph,of gibberish.

On point though…thanks for saying absolutely nothing other than this strike is about making Obama look good.

          • James Pope

What you should consider is, the rebels did this to draw the U.S. in. The rebels need the U.S. to slap Assad, this will have worldwide consequences. The idiots in washington have already told Assad what they’re gonna do, so let’s put all of our equipment in civilian areas, and we can use more chemicals and blame it on americas air strikes. It’s a no win for us.

        • tedlv

Obviously you have not seen the documentary, “Team America, World Police” or you would never have made such a statement. >sarc off. (yes, it is a true shame to have to explain a remark is sarcastic isn’t it?)

          • inaguddadavita

oh what great documentary film that was…putting it on now to refresh my memory…Thanks tedlv

      • WhoMeToo

        *cough* Russia *cough* China *cough*

        • Donnie Schopp

China wants no part in this… They have way to much interest in keeping good relations with us. Russia??? Putin??? Are you really going to listen to a thug???? If he thinks its ok to Bomb schools with Chemical weapons maybe he could be a threat to our national security? I’m getting sick of Putin thinking he and Russia are gods.. As far as I’m concerned if Russia doesn’t get on board, US sanctions…

          • WhoMeToo

You. Are. Right. ……….The USA should just IGNORE them.

          • GrindingMills

I agree, the Russians and Chinese are going to sell Assad immediately. Protecting a dictator who has very little to offer you is not logical.

          • J. Cox

            You mean like North Korea?

          • GrindingMills

There’s no military action against North Korea. If there was, I would not expect much support from China or Russia there either.

          • J. Cox

Except the 1 million Chinese who fought alongside NK before…but ya…they will just walk away, because that’s how they roll. You of course have met with the Chinese and Russian consulate and confirmed your unicorn dream.

          • GrindingMills

That was 60 years ago in an effort for Mao to expand the role of communism in Asia. 70 years ago, Germany was gassing Jews. A lot can change over 60 years.

I’m thinking logically on this. What does Syria legitimately offer Russia and China?

          • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Germany = no longer run by Nazis.

China & North Korea = still run by Communists.

            “I’m thinking logically on this.”
            Not really.

          • GrindingMills

North Korea is China’s 83rd most active trading partner. North Korea needs China more than China needs North Korea.

          • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

What is your point? How does this not make them both Communists?

          • J. Cox

Because Russia and China gave up on expanding their sphere’s of influence?Your post sounds a lot like…It was a long time ago…

          • James Pope

Uh, they buy weapons, and weapons systems, and anything that Iran can’t get through other sources. It’s all about the money, also Russia has a huge military base there.

          • tedlv

I think GrindingMills may have meant Obama, but I am not sure.

          • Donnie Schopp

If anyway does something stupid it will be Putin..

          • J. Cox

So you want to go to war with Russia. You are not the brightest bulb over at MMFA are you.

      • alanstorm

        I must disagree.

“Ok, lets not attack the people that hacked the Marines website.”

        This is a casus belli?

“Let’s not secure the WMDs in a war zone in which the Al Qaeda is present.”

How, pray tell, are we to “secure” them? Where are they? what’s the plan?

“Let’s not defend the interests of our strongest ally, Israel, who is
actively preparing their missile defense programs to protect themselves from Assad. Let’s not protect our other allies, Jordan, Turkey and those in the Arab League who have denounced the Assad regime.”

Haven’t noted any claims that Assad is threatening Israel, Jordan, Turkey or the Arab League.

“Let’s not join our other allies France and Australia who are actively pushing for an attack.”

Other’s reasons need not become our reasons.

” Let’s not attack the Iranian plant Assad.”

So we should attack anyone who allies with Iran? Note that they have a mutual-defense pact. What does that entail if we attack?

“As the world’s leader, we carry the responsibility of being the world’s police, and whenever we do not act in that roll, we weaken our interests globally.”

You can argue that, but given Obama’s demonstrated lack of competence and leadership, we should stay out of it.

        • GrindingMills

          1. If they attack the Marine’s website for propaganda purposes, what’s to stop them from attacking more significant network infrastructure. Regardless, it’s an attack on the United States. Not a traditional attack, but an attack none the less.

          2. I’m not a military strategist, but I am in favor of securing or destroying the chemical weapons. I’m fairly certain that there’s a strategist somewhere in the Pentagon working on that.

          3. I’ll give you a hypothetical situation. There’s two gas stations across the street from each other. They’re more or less identical, and charge the same price for gas, but the station on the north side of the street has a whole bunch of gang bangers loitering out front. What station would you go to? I’d bet you go to the one without the gang bangers. Now the gang bangers didn’t explicitly threaten you, but their presence was threatening. While Assad isn’t explicitly threatening Israel, his presence is threatening to the stability of the Middle East, and especially weakens Israel.

          4. Diplomacy with allies is quid pro quo. If we stop supporting them, they stop supporting us. We should always work with our allies.

          5. We should contain Iran’s interests. Iran hates Israel, depending on who you ask, Israel shares a border with Syria. What’s to stop Iran from saying to Assad, “Drop serin on Israel or we are going to stop providing you with support in the Civil War.”

          6. Regardless of Obama’s incompetence, he’s not going to be the guy picking the targets, firing the missiles and developing the military strategy. That’s the job of the Pentagon, an organization (yes, I know it’s a building, but you get the point) that I have 100% faith and trust to do the right thing.

          • J. Cox

So we should attack China for hacking even more sensitive sites right?

You can NOT bomb chem weapons and hope you have 0 col dmg.Does not work that way. That is why we have facilities that cost hundreds of millions to destroy our old stockpiles. The only way to “secure” them is to completely take over the country….and hope like hell none makes it on the highway heading to another country.

Both gas stations have gangbangers…the 1st set lived with Israel for a very long time peacefully…you now want to turn on the gas pumps and light cigs for people.

You mean like all of our “allies” that are sitting this one out?

ANDDDDDD…when the terrorist gain control of the SARIN.VX,or any other chem agents…you believe they will not use it?

Are they sending enough to secure the country? Then random missile strikes do nothing.

          • tedlv

Should other countries attack us for the antics of the NSA?

          • J. Cox

            Excellent point.

          • Rod_W

They will have had over a week and a half to move their “WMD” assets to locations unknown. We will neither destroy them via the air or cruise missiles, nor will we secure them with personnel (which is the only way to secure things).

          • grais

Yep. Enough time to move them back to Iraq.

          • grais

Yep. Enough time to move them back to Iraq.

          • Joe Egolf

They might move them back to Iraq

          • Donnie Schopp

Rod – You need to stop watching the News…

          • J. Cox

Because we should turn into lemmings like you?

          • Rod_W

They will have had over a week and a half to move their “WMD” assets to locations unknown. We will neither destroy them via the air or cruise missiles, nor will we secure them with personnel (which is the only way to secure things).

          • alanstorm

            Not buying your responses.

            1. So has China, reportedly. Let’s attack them! No. We have better ways to get the Syrians back for that.

            2. “I’m fairly certain that there’s a strategist somewhere in the Pentagon working on that.” Someone’s working on it? Not reassuring. Doesn’t answer where they are and how we get them.

            3. Your scenario is…bizarre, and nothing like the situation in Syria. It’s more like two gas stations run by rival gangs. I’d go fill up elsewhere, and hope to be out of the vicinity when it blows up.

            4. “We should always work with our allies.” That’s not always how it works – our interests are not necessarily theirs. This goes double under Obama, who has done his best to tick off our allies.

            5. We don’t want to give Iran a pretext to cause chaos in the region. They will do it regardless, but we don’t have to supply them with an excuse.

            6. You were born after Vietnam, weren’t you?

          • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

So we are going to war over hackers? Nice logic there Skippy.

      • doree10

Been there-Done that, world is in a worse mess than it was before we went to Iraq…How long do you think America can do this? UN needs to get their nose out of Israel, think that they could do a pretty good job of knocking off a couple of these dictators on their own…They will call us when they need us…

      • J. Cox

Sorry, but your entire argument suggest that we actually plan on landing 5-10 US divisions and securing the country and setting up a new government. That is NOT what we plan on doing, nor has that ever been suggested. Both parties in this civil war are our enemies, and a limited strike on either side(presumably we are going after Assad) does absolutely nothing.Doing something to accomplish nothing is a dumb way to conduct Foriegn policy. It also will not make us any friends with the Arab world as a whole….look south and see our failure with Assad’s opponents. As far as Israel is concerned….we can help secure her without hitting Syria.

        • Rod_W

          Yuppers.

        • Rod_W

          Yuppers.

        • GrindingMills

Kosovo. We bombed them for 78 days, and Milosevic gave up and came to negotiate. 0 deaths for the NATO forces. That should be the blueprint.

          • J. Cox

Apples and Oranges. Were the rebels also terrorist, who if they got their hands on the WMD’s,use them on other targets?

Are you OK with us killing thousands of civilians during that campaign? Please tell us the end-game.Your blue-print is actually not,its a face saving gesture.

          • GrindingMills

So then what if the rebels win and take possession of the chemical weapons? Don’t you think a preemptive strike to secure/destroy the chemical weapons would be beneficial?

          • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

So you think giving the military equivalent to a slap on the wrist and consequently pissing off everyone else in the region is going to be beneficial? Do you think clearing the way for more radical Islamists to take over the country is beneficial? You really think a ‘limited strike’ is going to end up actually being limited? What kind of chain reaction is this going to start and for what? Because of hackers and chemical weapons being used against our enemies? Maybe you and Congress should think this through.

          • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Also watch this and tell me how intervention in Syria is a good idea:

          • tedlv

How would you secure/destroy the weapons without boots on the ground. I am interested in your strategy.

          • ArdvarkMaster

Do you have a clue as to what it takes to “secure/destroy” chemical weapons?

The only way to “secure/destroy” those chemical waepons would be to take possession of them and destroy them in a controlled environment. If you try a “preemptive strike” against them, you will most certainly release them and cause the catastrophe you were trying to prevent. Not unless you want to use nukes. Is that what you mean by preemptive strike or have you been watching too many Hollywood movies?

          • tedlv

Ardvark, I have worked at 2 chem demil sites. You are absolutely right.

GrindingMills – Why do you think we need to hit Syria?? There are a few reasons.. Most people have no idea and keep coming back at me with this, ” its not our job to help the Syrian people “. This is much bigger. It is our job as the world leader to demonstrate why any weapons of mass destruction to innocent people and our allies is completely unacceptable. Please tell us…where were you in Iraq? Why are we not invading Iran and dismantling their nuclear work? How about North Korea?Funny how we have to now….but before,”cowboy diplomacy”.

You are of course going to volunteer to land in Syria and capture all of those assets, and you are going to make sure the rebels, also terrorist, are going to be friendly right?

We saw how well a “limited” strike went with Afghanistan and Iraq. Gets what…you have yet to supply a mission statement that gets rid of chemical weapons, while not interfering with a civil war.BTW…where were you when 100k people were killed before the use of chemical weapons?

          • Guest

I was right here, following it… There was international law being broke… No they did and here we are… What is your point Cox…

          • Donnie Schopp

I was right here, following it… There was no international law being broke… No they did and here we are… What is your point Cox…

          • J. Cox

So shelling hospitals and schools is fine by international law…got it.But Saddam breaking 180 UN resolutions…crickets.

          • Donnie Schopp

Do you know anything about Syria?? What started this Civil war??

          • J. Cox

Two groups of thugs fighting…both sides hate us…your point?

          • tedlv

In my line of work, one of the most important things is to know what “done” looks like. When are we “done” in Syria? What does “done” look like? That MUST be answered before we “do”.

          • tedlv

Go ahead, trolls, criticize. I am posting that last statement above. Cry, roll your freakish eyes.

          • tedlv

I suspect you find it odd, as I do, that Saddam used Sarin on the Kurds without actually having any.

          • J. Cox

He actually used a bottle of grey poupon on them..The Heinz corp. would not send the spicy ketchup…or catsup.

        Finally someone who gets it..

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

All a missile strike is going to do is piss them off, nothing will be accomplished. We are basically needlessly getting involved in a situation where two unfriendly combatants are offing each other. It is beyond stupid to get involved in this, we are turning their attention towards us instead of at each other.

      • LordStark

“Let’s not secure the WMDs in a war zone in which the Al Qaeda is present.”

You’re providing a great reason for NOT attacking Syria. By doing so, AQ will in more probability be ABLE to get their hands on them

      • Medicinewoman2

        Limited strike.that is special!!!

      • tedlv

Support your local Al Qaeda much?

      • tedlv

Look up “roll”. I don’t think it means what you think it means.

      • ArdvarkMaster

“Let’s not secure the WMDs in a war zone in which the Al Qaeda is present.”

Kind of hard to do that if your “plan” never provides for any boots on the ground. Real difficult if all you are going to do is bomb to teach them a lesson.

Nobody in this fight is on our side. Not the so called allies (Arab league, etc) and certainly not the people shooting each other.

As for the “world’s policeman” comment, isn’t that why the world hates us?

      • Carla Sappington

You obviously do not have anyone in your family that is Military.

      • Kimberly

We will not be protecting Israel, Syria and Iran have said if we strike, they will retaliate against Israel. Obama is not planning to do anything with this strike except try to save face. There is no goal with this attack. We are not planning to take out any WMD, the Assad regime or anything else. Assad is moving the weapons into residential areas in preparation for us coming. And I hope to hell we are not going to bomb a residential area! If we go in, we will be going in on the side of Al Qaida. There are no upsides to us doing this but there are plenty of downsides. Not worth it

      • katdc1013

Maybe so A YEAR AGO! I think we are too weak already to respond to anything. BO is saving face and then naming in advance who will be to blame when it blows up in his. Worse president evah!

    • doree10

THE PEOPLE don’t matter anymore.. It’s THE AGENDA. Seventy-five percent of the people did not want Obama Care, shoved down our throats anyway…

  • kay1968

Sounds like a lot of politicians will be leaving office at the end of their term. They no longer represent the American people.

    • grais

Best outcome I can think of.

    • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

2014 cannot come soon enough. I am so tired of a GOP that acts like Democrats.

  • CrusadaB

    We are sunk.

  • Glen Saunders

The only compelling national interest America has is to drop an atomic bomb on that shithole of a country and tun it into glass once and for all. There is nothing there worth one American life. And Boehner…..You need to seriously consider a carer change. i hear Obama is paying traitors well.

    • Donnie Schopp

Glen, work in your grammar and maybe someone will take you seriously..

” work in your grammar”…..doctor…heal thyself.

Sheep….These self servicing bastards make me sick. Lindsey (closet queen) Graham, John(let’s go to war) McCain & John (crybaby) Boehner are sell outs. I used to be a Republican. Rand Paul is looking better each day.

    • athalia55

Rand Paul is not much better than the dempubs. He has been for a lot of what the liberals want to achieve, before he was against it.

      • 6cheri6

        Proof Wendy

        • athalia55

          Prove he’s not.

          • 6cheri6

You made the statement fool…I just asked for proof. If it is just your opinion…say so. Otherwise show where you got the info that he agreed with the liberals.

You make outrageous statements with nothing to back them up. But like a typical lib, you call names in response. And you STILL have not responded to my question. Is it just your opinion….or do you have proof. Pretty simple for most adults.

  • David Johnson

Boehner, McCain, Graham not a Republican in the bunch. Hell their already exempt from obamacare wonder what he’s giving them?

    • Greg Jadwin

It’s not what he’s giving him, it’s more likely what dirt he is holding over his head…I believe that blackmail on a grand scale explains a lot of the strange behavior of the french republicans.

      • David Johnson

Your probably right having the NSA in your pocket probably gets you lots of intel. Robert’s on the SCOUS voting for obamacare, there have been a lot of strange votes.

Look at Petraeus, he was pizzed that they changed the “talking points” on Benghazi and would not sign off on them, them BAM…emails came out he was having an affair and he had to resign….

They have signed on to save face for Obama and nothing else. We don’t need to bring more young Americans home in boxes just to bail out Obama’s failed regime…

  • Chip Jones

Maybe these knuckleheads would like to schedule the vote to assist Al Qaeda for 9/11? #Cowards #Murderers #Treason

Republican Party leadership at this point, is patently disconnected, and incompetent. A change has got to come!

    • athalia55

We are not doomed because of them, we are doomed thanks to the idiots that vote for them!

  • conservativemomma

I am so disgusted with Republicans. What in the world kind of hold does Obama have over them? He insults them at every turn and they crawl over each other to support him and whatever fresh hell he decides to dish up to America

    • rainmcmanis

Lots and lots of cash, guaranteed that they will never be defeated in elections, and full-time golf benefits.

  • jimmer99

What are these two seeing, that the rest of the world does not? Great Britain says no…France says no, others such as Germany are waiting on the U.N. resolution. What’s the hurry, there have been no more gas attacks since last week?

  • Richard J Sunkle

Well I’m done with the GOP, Maybe my Rep from Tennessee will surprise me. If he votes for this I’m just going to vote 3rd party…

  • Peter Sitro

It is time to replace this useless and ineffective speaker let’s get him out!!!!

  • lazypadawan

Matt Drudge just tweeted that there’s no reason to vote GOP anymore. There’s no Democratic vs. Republican, it’s just authoritarian vs. libertarian.

    • athalia55

It’s just authoritarian versus Citizens! To he ll with all of the political parties, they are out for themselves and their own agendas!

    • rainmcmanis

This. Stop sending money to the RNC or the Rove PACs. Demand better than RINOs, aka Democrats.

  • LarryECollins

So now we really ARE a one-party country: The Obamanation. The move to the Dark Side is complete. Just one question: HOW can they fund this under the sequester?

    • rainmcmanis

17 trillion in debt but let’s start a war.

  • Jimmie Robinson

I wonder if Boehner was crying as he kissed obumas butt…

    • Ntr

He was probably polishing it with his tears.

  • Screaming Eagle

The Republican leadership are spineless lapdogs.

Thousands of men/women/children killed with nerve gas?
    Now you’ve crossed a line!!!!!! (shakes fist)….

My point: People are being killed every day in every country.
Why are we involving ourselves with Syria?
Because they used nerve gas, rather than bullets/rockets…?

  • doree10

Shut the borders, get the terrorists out of America, and wait until Israel ask for help.
Done with the republican party period…

  • JimmyNeutron

THE GOP MUST DIE. It’s flailing. These asshats do not represent my views. Really, the only difference at this point is 39.6% marginal tax rate vs. 35% rate. The only difference is 4.6% of one number. The Republicans are Whigs and should be relegated to the trash heap of history. At this point I don’t even want the Cruz/Lee/Paul/Amash faction to take over the party – the name, at this point, is a liability – killed by idiots like Canter, Boehner, Christie, all the Bush’s, Romney, McCain, Graham, et al.

    • rainmcmanis

      I approve. Great post.

    • Spiny Norman

      ^^^THIS^^^

  • Richard Wayne

Dear house republicans, kick this a-hole out of leadership already before he sinks your re-election chances. As if tax hikes at the start of the year wasn’t enough justification for that.

I swear it seems like Obama has dirt on him.

    • foramerica

I was thinking the same thing. There has to be some reason why Boehner acts like a liberal on all the important issues and stabs the conservatives in the back.

      • Richard Wayne

He came to a Romney rally in 2012 that included Huckabee.

He sounded like a stalwart of conservatism in that speech. What a snake he turned out to be.

  • Rodney

What is the problem? It’s not an invasion Obama will call Assad tell him what we’re targeting, when we’re going to hit it, and with what we’re going to use. It’ll be just like hitting an empty training camp in Afghanistan. Money? Is that the problem well the government will stop spending for one second that should more than cover it they’ll figure that in right before the next election so they can scare us with another threat of government shutdown.

    Boehner is such a tool.

They are both rino republicans, they have gone along with Obama at every turn. So predictable. GOP should have taken Boehner out when they had the chance during start of second term.

  • no_more_deceit

    “Eric Cantor

    ✔ @GOPLeader

I intend to vote to provide the President of the United States the option to use military force in Syria.”

Yea, right after he had an emergency meeting with his emergency advisers/consultants consisting of Ellen Barkin, Cher and Mia Farrow.

  • Secure

How will Ted Cruz vote? Will he be against any action in Syria? He will then be saying the use of chemical weapons by rogue nations around the world is ok now, and no punishment should be given.

    • AynRandWasRight

Cruz is one of the few with Cojones to stand up to the RINOS and the Obama machine. I have faith he’ll do the right thing and vote an emphatic “NO!”

I wouldn’t know how to act if Congress and specifically the Republicans actually listened to their constituents. I wouldn’t know how to act if they grew a pair and stood up for something that’s right or not right in this case. This country is FUBAR.

  • Clete Torres

Time for Cantor and Boehner to go.

    • Ntr

The thing is, they probably won’t be going anywhere and will further lead the GOP into lost territory.

The GOP is officially no longer an opposition party. I’ve never trusted Cantor or Boehner but this is ridiculous, there is absolutely no reason for us to get involved in this.

    • Donnie Schopp

Really Ben? We all already know the basics – getting out of 2 wars, no money, lose of more soldiers.. We know all the bad things about hitting Syria. To say we have no reason to get involved is insanity and stupidity… Maybe that’s the message you would like to send, but not me.. This Tyrant can not get away with this… 0 tolerance… The founding fathers would bomb this evil mans sites, make no mistake..

      • Marvin Nelson

So, we are supposed to start a war with every dictator? There is absolutely no reason for us to stick a finger in Assad’s eye, not to mention Putin. Besides, our country is going down the toilet, so let’s fix ourselves before telling others how to live.

      • onegoodnathan

you are brain dead. any rational person would not train Al Qaeda and fight on their behalf. this is a bankers war, not a war for American security. this country is broke–that’s the real threat to US sovereignty.

self-righteous hypocritical bullsh|t. Were you this upset at us not intervening in Rwanda with 600k dead (from machetes and machine guns)? Hmm?

And I’ll bet you were a big supporter of the Contras and Oliver North. And of course, ridding Iraq of WMD’s. Of course.

      • $29561723

Make sure you sign up for the “Let’s go to war with North Korea for human rights abuses”
Although something tells me you wouldn’t be there. Since, you know, North Korea would be a meat grinder.

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

No they wouldn’t, we have absolutely nothing to gain from this not to mention it is just Obama attempting to distract people from the Obamacare battle and Benghazi. Also not to mention we are needlessly getting involved in two factions we don’t like killing each other, our involvement is pure stupidity. You need to re-read the Constitution if you think the Founding Fathers wanted us to be involved in every war on the planet that has nothing to do with us so we can installed another radical Islamic dictator.

Pelosi’s grandson will be fighting there, as I’m sure we’ll still be at war in 15 years.

    • $29561723

At least they took the mask off this time. They’re out and loving every minute of it. Remember this next October. Remember it well.

  • Chas2K

I am just sick to my stomach about this. If they is going to support the Imperial Asshole, maybe Boehner and Cantor can tell us what compelling evidence there is the Syrian government was even behind the attacks. (Remember Seriavo when the rebels arranged a hit to make them look as if they were under attack) What is the starting point and ending point of this operation? If this is not to be a wipe the whole God Damned area clean and spotless so this doesn’t happen again operation, why are we even starting it? What is the “National Interest’ that compels this action. We don’t need what oil and gas they have and we have enough sand of our own. And I do not want Obama giving more arms and money to the Muslim Brotherhood. They are our sworn enemy and will happily and brutally kill Americans whenever they are found.

  • Ntr

The GOP has just finished themselves off. We now have a Democratic party and a Democratic party light.

  • daPenguin

what does Obama have on these two? I cannot believe they would sell out the country this easily!!!! Time to clean house!!!!

I have been saying the same thing. He’s got something, especially Boner. Every time I hear him talk he sounds like he’s been drinking.

  • Marvin Nelson

There is NO leadership in Congress, period. The Dems and RINOs are running rampant and the sorry ass Republicans are running scared. In the immortal words of the (Nicholson) Joker, “This country needs an enema!” Inserted directly through both houses of Congress.

  • Nancylea Scott

Before I condemn anyone for voting to support action in Syria, I want to hear whether the government has any proof that it was Assad who ordered the use of chemicals on his people. Not the details how we found out, just that the proof exists.

    • $29561723

I care whether it was gas as much as I cared whether it was guns when they killed the first 100,000. Their civil war is not our fight. We’re not the World Police. Enough is enough.

  • Magnifico

    Defund Obamacare?? LOL

  • onegoodnathan

this should confirm to people that Dems and GOP are puppets of the same power elite bankers and globalists—the benefactors of war.

  • Salty2

I agree with the RB @RBPundit tweet; “That sound you hear is the media breathing a sigh of relief as Boehner hands them someone other than Obama to blame for Syria.”
The media and Dems are rejoicing right now!!

  • OldmanRick

Idiots on parade. The only reason anyone is contemplating the bombing of Syria is to save face for the brat regarding his original asinine statement.
A much better idea is to send all the congressional slugs who support bombing Syria to the front lines to call in the strikes and assess their effectiveness. BTW, the mode of dress during said action will be flip flops, jeans, and T-shirts with bulls eyes on both front and back.

McCain on Fox and Friends this morning, right after he said, “I know the Free Syrian Army,” said Allahu Ahkbar is like saying Thank God.

    http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/357486/mccain-spars-fox-host-over-syrian-rebels-andrew-johnson

Looking to quell concerns about helping the Syrian rebels, John McCain forcefully assured the hosts of Fox & Friends that General Salim Idris and the Free Syrian Army are not Islamic extremists with ties to al-Qaeda.

“Of course they are Muslims, but they are moderates,” the Arizona senator said this morning. “I guarantee you that they are moderates — I know them, and I have been with them.”

McCain also rejected the idea that a video of a Syrian rebel yelling “Allahu Akbar” after shooting down a regime plane was a sign of radicalism. “I have a problem helping those people out if they’re screaming that,” said Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade after playing the video. McCain likened it to a Christian yelling the same phrase in English. “Would you have problem with an American Christian saying, ‘Thank God, thank God’?” he asked.

    • Marvin Nelson

Moron McCain must have consulted Pelosi’s grandson and Menendez’s soccer moms about the meaning of “Allahu Ahkbar”. He isn’t anywhere near the correct meaning. Those were the last words heard by the dead and wounded at Ft. Hood. They were also the last words on the cockpit voice recorder of the plane that crashed in PA on 9/11. So don’t insult our intelligence with such drivel. McCain is truly stupid enough to believe that his interpretation is correct. Try a google search on the term, you idiot, if you can stop playing poker for a few minutes.

  • Tom

Have they all started drinking the Kool-aid?

  • Pardonme

So let’s see; we elect these people to go to Washigton to represent us. There is not a single poll that is even close that we are in support of this action. Now we have these so called leaders backing the so called president to make this invasive act of war. Those in charge can not give us a plan, a goal or any prediction for the outcome. The Obama dictatorship is in full display of how far we have fallen and how feckless our “leaders” are!

GOP leadership ??? Can no longer use those two words together.

  • fivebyfive

And they wonder why we won’t just trust them.
They are a couple of MORONS

  • capoprimo

They have no idea and they might as well change their Party because they’re far from being Conservative leaders. Full fledge RINO’s !

  • Bill Board

    Traitor Pete and traitor Repeat.

  • BlahBlah

    But did Boehner cry?

  • [email protected]

Johnny White Flag Boehner just sided once again with that Murdering cowardly lying, thieving Anti American Muslim Traitor,. Once again were shafted by this low life. Its time for Congress to kick him out of the position . My comments are posted on Tea Party .net .I’, totally pissed after his “promises” in January . John Boehner is an Ass kissing Johnny white flag and its time we rid ourselves of his anti American stance as speaker its to kick his ass to the curb ..Traitor he and McCain and Graham have their heads so far up that traitorous murdering Muslim ass it fogged their respective duties to this country and to their constituents . Traitors they are.. Signed …A MOM AGAINST OBAMA in Calif

  • Wilkins Micawber

And their goes what’s left of the Republican party and here comes dictatorship.

  • 912er

I am serious when I say the 70 good conservatives should sit by themselves in congress and vote for Pelosi for house speaker….Its the only way to get Boehner out of there…then they can negotiate to put someone on our side in……Trey Gowdy comes t mind.

  • Monty Aycoth

I think it’s time our elected representatives consult with “we the people” before they vote to bomb another country that has done nothing to the U.S.

    • conservative2012

This administration doesn’t care for “we the people.” Sure they’ll let us protest, argue with each other on social media, and use comment boards. But they’ll do what they want, and we really have no say in the matter.

      • Monty Aycoth

        You’re exactly right…I wish it wasn’t so…

  • Misanthrope

Maybe they know the motion will be defeated and they’re just posing so the Leftists and their media can’t say Republicans wanted to see children die.
    Just a thought.

  • tedlv

Ok. See if I understand this. Respond fast, Disqus will delete this post quickly. Saddam Hussein had and used WMDs against his Kurdish enemies. That was proven. Saddam Hussein was building up a supply of yellowcake. That 150T went to Canada. Conclusion from the liberals: SH had no WMDs, Bush lied. Congress (as defined by the US Constitution as both the Senate and House) voted overwhelmingly to attack Iraq to depose SH. Result? Bush lied.
Now let’s look at Syria. Someone used WMDs against someone. Our administration has stated that Assad used the weapons. They are planning attacks against Assad, to support the Al Qaeda against Assad. And now our own RINOs are supporting him.
I guess my real question is, how are these idiots planning to blame Bush?

  • fivebyfive

Cantor, Boehner, and McCain are the three stooges and Lindsey Graham is Shemp

  • Wendy Bryant

I intend to vote all you fools out, and get real conservatives elected!

  • David

Please email Boehner expressing your disgust with his support of the lunatic Obama’s impending Syria debacle.

  • Frank Julian

this will be as bad as Iraq! No plan no end game… Just more of the same…. Why did we not do anything to Israel for using phosphorous on Gaza? Isn’t a violation a violation?

  • ArdvarkMaster

Excellent. Let’s start bombing somewhere else without a plan, without a goal, without actually being in danger. Maybe Cantor could ask Obama to bomb a few aspirin factories so we can be distracted from the fact that our national “leaders” can’t be bothered to listen to the people who elected them.

  • tedlv

In my line of work, one of the most important things is to know what “done” looks like. When are we “done” in Syria? What does “done” look like? That MUST be answered before we “do”.

    • tedlv

Read that quickly. Disqus generally quickly deletes most of my posts. No matter how inoffensive.

  • stillinthe60s

Still listening to the consultants who say the Amnesty bill will be a winner in 2014, eh boys?

The best alternative is no action but failing that….
Message to the president written 9/3/13 5AM EST

…..I was privileged to speak to the communications officer aboard the
command ship at the battle of the Bay of Pigs. He was for a short time
an instructor and student at IPFW University in Fort Wayne. The order of
battle had been given concerning the landing of marines and the
supporting naval fire and air support for the ensuing battle. With only
seconds left before launch, the order to
stand down was received from President Kennedy. Because of the critical
timing, three scenarios were considered: One, ignore the message long
enough to ensure victory. Two, ask for confirmation and continue
operations. Or three, ask for confirmation and cease operations. As we
now know, three was the only and best answer since the Soviets had
positioned surface to surface nuclear tipped missiles within range of
the fleet and had communicated that threat by back channels, unknown to
the fleet, in a grim ultimatum.
    ….Currently the carrier Nimitz is
soon expected on a compromising route through the Red Sea, well within
range of current Russian technology. And while there could be factors
requiring such risk, a single rocket or radio controlled mine could
easily spell the end of the Nimitz and/or other ships in the immediate
vicinity in case of a similar confrontation. Not to worry though, the
Russians have only had 50 years to improve on that capability.
    …..
Since I do not wish your daughters or my children’s children turned to
dust (they are all within a 30 megaton blast radius), you may wish to
move those ships out of harm’s immediate way but more importantly, you
may wish to specify quite tersely the requirements and reasons both for
communications and for possible retaliatory response. Sincerely, Dr.
    Edward A. Kimble

So do we get something for you two clowns preventing obowmao from being embarrassed? Something like not funding obowmao care or are you going to cave on that as well?

  • http://www.moralmatters.org/ NathanMBickel

Apparently Boehner and Canter’s memories fail them. They can’t recall how many times Obama has lied. Yet, they choose to align themselves in the same corner. Once a liar; always a liar! Now, they are just as guilty as Obama.

  • Brother bob

twittle dee and dum are just about lock stepped with howdy doody in the White House on everything… They already “evolving” their decisions on obamacare and immigration. Pr1cks

  • Guest

NSA must have intercepted some juicy emails from Cantors’/Boehners’ lovers leaving them no choice but to jump on board.

  • .ProudAmerican.

The Clown John Kerry: You are just like the men you campaigned against in 1971! Your inexcusable extreme chauvinism speech at the Convention in 2012 was a tryout, for your new job as successor to a long list: Acheson, Dulles, Rusk, Kissinger, Albright, Powell, Rice and Clinton.

Infamous isn’t too strong a word! And to compare yourself to the protesters in that hearing room is a monument to your ambition to occupy the world stage as a mover and shaker. The young John Kerry, who would be protesting the Strike against Syria, would have been escorted from the room, by the Capitol Police, to await a television interview….♥ oBAMA LOVES YOU AMERICA ♥

  • mschmidt48

If this is the rope that the GOP is giving Obama, then they haven’t thought it through. Don’t they realize that when a limited, advanced warning strike fails that Obama will be able to blame the GOP for voting for the US to do the strike. Also by the time we get there Syria will have hidden all WMD and the MSM will put the blame on the Republicans. A repeat of what happened in Iraq.

  • y_sufferfools

Please someone lock ‘bonehead’ in his tanning bed and bust the timer!

  • Sinjun

strangely the way things keep going… i wasn’t surprised or nearly as surprised as i should have been ..

  • moot

It is time to clean the party of these establishment types.

  • objectivefactsmatter

Who has the quarter ready? I’m worried if we attack Assad we might be rewarding the side that deployed the weapons we say we want to control use of.

So it seems like we should toss a quarter in the air to decide who to attack since “doing nothing is not an option.”

Let the quarter decide the trivial matters since we have no way of knowing ourselves if we’re getting played. We can blame the quarter if it later turns out we were wrong.

  • gman213

John “Bonehead” Boehner is now appointed to General of the Al Quada Air Force

  • gman213

We may want to consider random drug testing for these idiots, they’re on something.

  • SheilaK

I just can’t with these morons. They need to rethink priorities and rejoin the republican party already. Time for a third party

  • Paul Tetrault

If our leaders want war…then they should go to the front-line. The cowardly dogs.

  • Misanthrope

As awful as Boehner is, having that weasel Cantor as Speaker would be worse.

  • James Pope

It’s curious that so many people think that Russia will sit by while their bestest buddy in the middle east gets pounded by the U.S. They’re already sending ships and ampibs to the area, I believe this is a set up by the rebels, to suck the U.S. into a conflict that will allow them to use more chemical weapons, and blame it on the U.S. air strikes, then where will we be? Think Assad won’t listen to Putin? He probably told him not to use chemicals, that Russia would give him plenty of weapons, bullets, bombs, etc., Putin’s a very smart man, don’t underestimate him.

  • journogal

Pathetic…good to once again see your obsession with Drudge. Seriously, get help and perhaps stop obsessing about people you don’t know.

  • Bklynnygirl

Careful there, your mask is slipping.
Scratch a liberal Democrats surface and you’ll find a homophobe and racist.
