President cautions against ‘elevated expectations’ for Wednesday’s speech

After two days of closed meetings with faith leaders and mayors on Obamacare and gun control, the president is hosting a closed reception in advance of tomorrow’s 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington. The president warned those in attendance to manage their expectations, because his speech tomorrow “won’t be as good” as Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

Update: Brazile notes that there were reporters in attendance; technically, then, it wasn’t closed to the press.

      He wouldn’t do that.

well said.Obama thinks Government is the solution and it’s always whiteys fault.

Don’t worry Mr. President, you’ve already taught us to be prepared for disappointment whenever you’re involved.

By tamping down expecctations for his speech, not matter how he delivers his drivel, it will be pushed as “spectacular” by the MSM.

    • ObamaFail

And CNN will celebrate it as the single greatest speech in American history, followed a close second by the Gettysburg Address and MLK’s “I have a Dream” speech.

      • Jerry Camp

CNN will put it slightly behind his 2008 inauguration speech, just ahead of his Middle East speech, and on par with his 2012 inauguration speech…historically-speaking, of course.
Do you think he’ll send a copy to the Queen on a USB thumbdrive so she can update her iPod?

The only thing he can say in a speech that won’t disappoint is… “I respectfully resign my position as POTUS”. Other than that, couldn’t care less.

    • Clete Torres

You’d never hear the word ‘respectfully’ from this assclown.

    • ObamaFail

Personally, I would view his resignation as the greatest speech he’s ever given.

I think if TOTUS gets a good nights sleep (or whatever electronic entities do at night) the speech could be good.

I wouldn’t know as I haven’t listened to that lying liar from Liesville since sometime in early 2008.

TO FEEL ‘ELEVATED’ BY ANOTHER COMMITTEE OF LAWYERS & STRATEGISTS ‘DRIVELER’ FROM OBAMA, I’D HAVE TO BE WEARING ELEVATOR SHOES. And standing on a box. Obama should be ashamed even to invoke the name of Dr. King and implicating him in one of his scheming speeches because it will only be to use him as another ‘Obama prop’ and then it’s ‘Dr. King Speech’ packaged up in moisture proof packaging and stored in some warehouse to be later displayed in the Barack Obama Library of The Constellation. And can you imagine the colossal nerve, warning in advance his speech may not be as good as Kings? As though we’re in some sort of contest! Or presuming he and King are on the same plane! They are NOT! What kind of a mind does this fool possess?

Dr. King would be ashamed to be in the same room with Obama or any of the other race baiters like Sharpton.

  • Maury

The content of your character will be crucial in my expectations.

Is Obama going to twerk with Sasquatch?

“Obama said not to have ‘elevated expectations’ on his speech tomorrow.”
    — Good news, everyone! The bottom of the barrel is safe from contamination.

  • Dat Guy

His speech will be about how he is the embodiment of Dr. King’s speech. We all need to rise above partisan politics and pass his agenda, no questions asked. Despite recent race based incidents we can overcome our racist past, (present). Yadda Yadda Yadda ad nauseum.

  • Love of Country

I’ve seen sock puppets with more courage than Barack Hussein Owebamao.

  • KansasGirl

Good grief, all this man does is make excuses.

  • Zach Smith

I’m expecting empty platitudes and race baiting. So, that’s not very elevated.

  • disappearing moderate

This is one promise he’ll be able to keep.

  • tops116

Odd how he didn’t have a problem with elevated expectations for Obamacare three years ago. ‘Course, it was different, because no one actually read it before it was passed and everyone now pretends they never elevated expectations in the first place.

  • HerodiousPeaskinner

I’m going to down a shot of vodka for each time I hear him mention Delbert Belton, Chris Lane, Antonio Santiago. I’m not worried about having no liquor in the house.

  • anjullyn

Expectations? I haven’t had any about him for at least 5 years.

  • rennyangel2

For years, ozero has been making the same speech over and over. Why should Wed. be any different?

  • Deborah Hallsted

Don’t worry, my expectations could not be lower.

  • Magnifico

He could say the same thing about replacing George W Bush as president.

  • David

Darn it. I’ll have to miss another of Obama’s HISTRIONIC speeches. Wednesday is the day I trim my toenails.

  • Clete Torres

Don’t have elevated expectations? From 0bama?

    You’re kidding, right?

  • stuckinIL4now

If I bothered to listen, I’m sure I’d be underwhelmed. I’m surprised he doesn’t just read Dr. King’s original speech. I doubt the slimestream media would notice and even if they did they wouldn’t mention it. On the other hand, Dr. King’s speech has too many Bible references that would probably reduce Obumuh to mere babbling–oh wait…

  • The Jackal

Could care less since I don’t listen to idiots anyway.

  • ObamaFail

Obama says, “My speech won’t be as good as MLK’s, so don’t get your expectations too high.”

Later, when no one compares his speech to MLK, he will call MSNBC and CNN and have them start referring to anyone who didn’t worship his speech as racists. On a side note, Chris Matthews will be quoted as saying, “Martin Luther King only wishes he could give as good of a speech as Barack Obama.”

  • SpaceRacer423

Im sure his speech will be the reverse of the media’s coverage of the economy.
You know fake numbers are thrown out, then celebrated by the media, then revised down and relegate to page g-25.
Now we’ll see ,”don’t expect too much from the speech”, watch it suck live, media will gloss over it, then starting next week history will be rewritten that this was the greatest speech since “I have a dream.”

  • Janice LEE

Only those journOlists with newly refurbished knee pads allowed inside.

  • MasterDebater

The lil boy couldn’t give a speech w/out the teleprompter telling him what to say. Even then it’s “uh, uh, um, uh, um, uh, and um, uh………”

  • nickshaw

Don’t worry, Donna, since Skeeter’s 2004 DNC speech our expectations have been on a downward curve.

  • RedSoloCup

Just drink every time he says “Uhh…” or starts talking about himself.
That way, you’re sure to NOT remember any of the speech.

Ken White brings the funny to twitter.

@markknoller Sadly, it could have been. Such a wasted opportunity.

  • World B. Free

I heard a few short seconds of this braying a$$ giving his speech on the radio a short while ago. There were lots of pregnant pauses and attempts at deep, insightful phrases that fell flat.

Oh, and don’t forget the gratuitous fake black dialect. He was pouring it on pretty heavy.

    Freaking phony.

  • Chrissy the Hyphenated

Six years ago, it was “today is the day the planet begins to heal.” Now it’s “don’t expect too much.”

  • Thomas, Snarkmaster General

Well, Mr. President, you’ve managed not to exceed my expectations yet again. Congratulations.

  • DorothyGrissom

The only expectation we’ve learned to have from Obama is more of his division, blaming, and race-baiting.
