Grab the Nexium: Acid reflux abounds after AP shares sponsored tweet

Hey, it’s hard out there for a PC-pimp.

But some AP followers think hustling for the highest OMG Big Pharma bidder!!11! is just too much.

Welcome to GERD City. Better ask your doctor if Nexium® is right for you!

Perhaps these guys missed the ads that run on AP’s official website? “BREAKING” news doesn’t pay for itself, you know.

Others guessed the sponsored tweet was a hacker’s work.

Unlikely. The Associated Press announced earlier this year that it would collect revenue from sponsored tweets.

What do you think? AP spam or a necessary evolution of the dino-media business model?

Seeing the state of DC, I imagine Nexium is doing killer business with everyone sick to their stomach with politicians.

I find it ironic that a press agency that’s in the tank for Obama and the muslim brotherhood/al qaeda would offer me a way to relieve my acid reflux I get from reading their press reports. What’s next, MSNBC going to start advertising Imodium to sponsor it’s crappy reporting?

Considering circulation decline and traditional media lagging behind ‘new media’, one should expect to see much, much more of this. To me, this is brilliant product pairing. The AP and their hackneyed articles would probably give me heartburn if I were susceptible.

At least the first words are “Sponsored Tweet,” leaving no doubt as to who’s paying the freight.

It’s those Tweets not clearly identifying who it was that put the sender up to sending them, and why, that you’ve got to wonder about. (Not that I’m accusing anyone of paying Tweeters cash money to propagandize, mind you– most of those Tweeters would do it for free, after all). But beware any Tweet with a link. Just sayin’.

Takes a big bed to fit AP, Big Bad Drug Industry and their lobbyists, DNC and the Obama Administration. But they have managed to do it AND happily brag about it afterward.

They apply their nicotine when they are done since smoking is not allowed.

  • Perso Nasplit

people crying about “sponsored tweets”, on a page with multiple ads. wake up people, they have been doing this for years.

    • Jill

Many of the more indignant comments seem surprised that a business (gasp) must make money.

      • Perso Nasplit

companies market their product, people buy it, they pay their workers. or did all these people expect the companies to print money like the fed?

  • CitizenEgg

So will the honesty continue and we’ll see DNC talking points ID’d as sponsored tweets?

      They already are:

Now I have another reason to continue not following them.
