‘Fundamentally dishonest’: Tweeters shred Dems on voter ID laws

The very idea that prospective voters should have to present photo identification before casting a ballot has been a constant source of Democrat panty twisting. Just yesterday, singer John Legend deemed North Carolina’s new voter ID law “the new Jim Crow.” And today, the Dems are doubling down:

Oh, puh-leeze. That’s disingenuous at best, and maliciously dishonest at worst. If liberals insist that requiring photo IDs is a violation of our rights, that it’s mandated racism, then what do they have to say about this?

Yep. The Dems aren’t doing this out of love and respect for Americans; they’re doing it purely for votes.

These Twitter users offered up more:

Funny, that.

  • Kevin Post

If you do not have a photo ID you have never filled out a W2 = never had legal job = not paying taxes

    • MartiniShark

      And most hilarious of all:
When the Democrats held their Presidential convention to announce Obama would return as their candidate they required people provide ID in order to be admitted into the arena. Now explain how they could be so blatantly racist like that?

    • Worship Dancer

actually you don’t fill out the W2. you fill out the W4. the W2 is what you get in the mail from the employer to file with your taxes.

      • ForTheRepublic

Being 19, all I’ve dealt with thus far is an EZ form. I can’t wait for the real deal!

  • Paul J Pachasa Jr

To use the restroom at my courthouse I needed photo id AND security screened. “Empty your pockets/purse into the bin, and remove any belt or suspenders as well!”

  • Catchance

There is one proven case of voter suppression. #NewBlackPanthers

    • TDS

Too bad it wasn’t actually investigated, huh?

      • ObamaFail

It would have been if Holder and Obama weren’t strong supporters of them.

      • Minicapt

It was; then Holder became AG, and the investigation turned out to be racist.

Try registering your child in a public elementary school without a birth certificate, copy of the parent’s driver’s license, and a copy of a utility bill, and see how far you get……………….but trying to vote……

    • annieoakley

Depends, I know in Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs Colorado, no one dare ask for any ID because ” The Mountain Mothers for Social Justice” will destroy you.

  • Clayton Grant

The photo ID is so onerous that the NAACP requires it to gain access to their meetings.

  • Kevin Krom

You need to show a photo ID to vote in a union election.

  • Acethepug

You’re using logic … Liberals simply cannot grasp it — it’s beyond them.

Voter ID = ray-ciss! That’s the depths of their thoughts on the matter. Basically, if they were honest (I know, but let’s pretend) they would come out and say that they believe minorities and the elderly are mentally woozy and cannot get an ID somehow, or if they have one, that it would be beyond them to use it.

If Dems can’t cheat, they can’t win. At least, not until they amnesty in several million more voters, anyway.

    • ObamaFail

Those illegals will flood back into Mexico once the Democrat policies finish doing what they are intended to do. Once there are no funds to pay for all of the welfare and food stamps for those millions of illegals, they wont’ want to be here and they’ll run back home.

      • nc

After they’ve sent home the billions they earn here. Don’t forget about that, too.

        • dwsmokin

I have to wonder how much of those billions have been taxed? I mean, if they’re here illegally, and using fake SS (which many are), are they not guilty of tax evasion? Now, the IRS may be incompetent at healthcare enforcement, and clueless on immigration reform, but they get downright nasty if you don’t pay your taxes. Interesting situation eh?

          • Worship Dancer

no but the poor slob whose SSN was stolen will end up on the hook for the taxes UNLESS they can PROVE they are innocent. yea IRS – you’re guilty even IF you’ve been proven innocent.

          • Michael Anderson (WB)

Another reason the IRS needs to be disbanded. Their court system violates the rights guaranteed in the Constitution.

          • Worship Dancer

            totally agree with THAT assesment.

          • nc

We should alert Lois Lerner. I hear she has a lot of free time lately.

rumor has it she was secretly given all the tax accounts of those who still haven’t been audited.

    • annieoakley

      And that is cheating too.

  • Sua Sponte

Casually asked the teller at the bank I’ve been with for 25 years why I needed to show ID when withdrawing or deposting into an account. Once she recovered from looking at me like I had an appendenge growing out of my forehead, she stated, well, for security reasons, to make sure you are who you say you are…Huh…Imagine that…

    • Emily B

I used to be a bank teller and you would not believe the number of people who threw a fit when I asked them for ID. It’s like, “Oh sure, let me cash this $2,000 check for you. I’ve never seen you before in my life, but I totally believe that this is you. Never mind about the ID, I trust you, Mr. Complete Stranger!”

      • ceyanne

I worked at bank years ago, too. And yes, many people definitely got bent when you asked them for ID. I worked as a teller and as a Financial Services Rep (opening accts, doing personal loans, etc) and had to get ID from folks. One man, who is fairly well known locally but who *I* at 22 yrs. old didn’t know from Adam, incredulously asked me, “Why do I need ID, don’t you know who I am?”. I said to him, “No, do YOU know who *I* am?”. He looked at me completely dumbfounded. And I further went on to ask him how upset he’d be if I’d have cashed his check and given the money to someone that wasn’t him. He’d probably be pretty mad and wonder why I did that, right? Would he accept the explanation that it was too much of an inconvenience to ask for ID, that I was cool handing out money to anyone who came in presenting a check to be cashed that I didn’t know? He did apologize upon further reflection, to his credit. But he was the rare one. Most people would b*tch and complain and didn’t really care WHY you asked for ID.

        • Michael Anderson (WB)

The one that gets me is I have to show ID if depositing cash into my account, but I can drop it in the night drop box without ID. Why can’t the bank let anyone put cash in my account? I don’t mind.

          • ceyanne

You got me on that one. I don’t recall ever asking for the ID of a person depositing money. The only time I could possibly think of would have been if it was a large amount of cash. The gov’t required documentation on people who brought in or withdrew 10K or more in cash. But other than in those rare situations, we didn’t (at least at the bank I worked for) ask for ID on depositors. Things may have changed since I left in 2000, however.

          • Worship Dancer

maybe he was getting cash back from a check deposited?

          • Michael Anderson (WB)

No, it was a straight cash deposit under $100. Maybe they were just verifying I had written the account number correctly.

          • Worship Dancer

i don’t know weird. maybe the teller was crushing on you? 😉

          • Worship Dancer

usually the only time you would need to show ID is if you were depositing a check but getting cash back. re: raldy: i didn’t say anything about opening an account. if you deposit a check and indicate you want cash back from that deposit you have to show ID

          • raldy

Actually, it’s not the banks that require ID, but the government who requires the banks to get a photo ID when opening an account or making a large deposit or withdrawal. It’s a GOVERNEMENT regulation. Go figure.

          • Jay Stevens

            Some banks do, some don’t.

          • john brothers

I think your deposit slip suffices. no one drops cash in a box!

      • Sua Sponte

I would expect any institution to require ID, I guess those that are whining the most are either ignorant or willfully stirring up a manufactured issue…Common sense, it’s not as common as you think..

        • Jay Stevens

Willfully stirring up a manufactured issue.

    • nc

Whenever I get asked for a photo ID (when paying with a credit card, for example), I always profusely thank the person for checking to ensure my security.

  • tjp77

And this is the best one:

The main liberal argument is that the ‘poor’ are burdened the most by voter ID laws, and our points about showing ID for air travel and opening bank accounts are moot because they’re too poor to do any of them anyway. BUT THEY STILL NEED A PHOTO ID TO GET WELFARE. So even the most poor of the poor who are on government assistance MUST HAVE A PHOTO ID. Derp.

Liberals want voter fraud. Period. Its all part of their ends-justify-the-means political philosophy. They see fraud as the lesser evil when compared to the prospect of losing an election.

    • The Penguin

And..”Bede, Bede, Bede…that’s all folks!” ’nuff f*ckin said. So in short, again,no ID, no vote! Period!

    • Catchance

Yes!!!! I was just going to post that. At the pregnancy center for which I work, most of the young women don’t have insurance and wish to apply for our state’s health insurance. Or WIC. One of the requirements is a valid ID. No id, no insurance.

    • http://werenotlostwereinfrance.com David Navarre

Then, Al Sharpton needs to get his bullhorn out and complain that welfare is racist because it requires you to show photo ID. Right?

    • r_coplin2001

You also need a photo ID Card to get a Social Security Card or a print out of your SSI benefits and try getting a money order at CVS without a photo ID Card.

  • therealguyfaux

See, you’re going about this all wrong.

You’re getting it bar-sackwards as to what should be done.

Show up at the polls in Hyde Park, Chicago IL, and tell them you’re Barack Obama, and you’ve come home to vote on Election Day.

Tell them, “ID? I ain’t got no ID! I ain’t gotta show you no stinkin’ ID!”

Before the Gestapo come and rough you up and arrest you for impersonation, that is.

    • truebeliever101

Project Veritas did that with Eric Holder’s name. The actor went into the polling place in Holder’s home district and told them his name and address and the lady handed him a ballot. He didn’t accept it, of course, and said he would go to his car for his ID. The lady tried to convince him he didn’t need an ID, just go ahead and take Eric Holder’s ballot and vote was the response.

  • Love of Country

The Left’s argument is so weak I’m dumbfounded Republicans let so much go w/o a rebuttal.

    1) These ID laws aren’t fair because it is harder on black folks than white people.

Well so what? So is the law that says it is illegal to murder somebody. Does that really make the law bad, racist or unfair to black people? Now go get your free ID and shut the heck up. Besides, I never heard the NAACP bemoan the tanning tax ….. if that’s not a racist tax then what is?

    2) Up above, Thomas Crown listed nearly 50 things people need ID’s for on a regular basis …… so if the Left is certain ID laws are racist ….. then where is their outrage for the oppressed the other 400 weeks out of every election cycle? Either ID laws are racist or they’re not and obviously they’re not. And so why is the Left completely silent that white people don’t want black people to be able to receive foodstamps or cold medication or rent a car or board a plane?

    3) Why does the Right let the Left publicly assign racism to all of our noble causes? It’s unbelievable they can get in front of a TV camera and say Republicans only want to single-out and disenfranchise black people with these laws and/or only want to keep 30 million people from getting healthcare. If racist Progressives want to act this way in front of the cameras then this is what I would say EVERY SINGLE TIME the Left assigns racist motives “You do realize Democrats invented the KKK, Jim Crow and Segregation don’t you? And you do realize Republicans overturned DNC Jim Crow and DNC Segregation, don’t you? So stop calling us racists for wanting someone to prove who they are in order to vote. If it’s so racist then Eric Holder must be the most racist piece of crap in the world for demanding people show their ID’s to hear him speak about how racist Voter ID Laws are.

Long story short …. if all Republicans answered the charges with “Oh please ….. well we all know it was YOUR terminally-racist side who invented those nasty and racist poll taxes you so fondly lament about and it was YOUR side who invented the KKK to track and hunt down and permanently silence the voice and vote of the average black man and it is YOUR side who has been obsessed with controlling how black people think and vote for last 150 years. It is YOUR side who needs racism like you need oxygen whereas our side just wants it to go away” …. then eventually the Left will realize calling us racists just isn’t that much fun anymore.

  • Maxx

Let’s just call this for what it is. Another attempt by the left to paint conservatives as hating everyone and anyone that isn’t white. It’s why I left that miserable party a decade ago after years as a registered Democrat. I finally got sick and tired of their malcontent and hate. They pimp minorities for election victories. No more, no less.

We’re supposed to believe asking someone to present an ID to vote is now racist? Is it racist when a hotel asks you for ID before checking in? The worst form of prejudice is this incessant, decades-long narrative from liberals that blacks are helpless and they need Democrats in order to save them from whitey. WAKE UP black people. The left identifies you as nothing more than helpless fawns, unable to function as everyday adults unless you allow them to step in and “save you.”

Join me and tell the Democratic party what I did years ago….”go to hell you sanctimonious race baiters.”

Having to produce a valid photo ID will stop people from registering and voting multiple times in multiple precincts, counties, and states and/or using voter registration cards of dead people.

They won’t be able to use those fraudulent voter registration cards — that is how voter poll rolls have more registered voters than eligible voting citizens.

I never really understood the reasoning behind why the dems are against voter id law.

    • mickeyco

“reason” and “dems” don’t belong in the same sentence. Or in the whole country for that matter.

    • The Penguin

Because they would lose a substantial amount of their voting base.

    • Lienathan

There is no reasoning. It’s a ploy. A device, a tactic, a trick. It’s using minorities as pawns in their chess game. They pull the race card and knees jerk all over the nation. No need to try to ‘understand’ it any further than that it is false.

      • truebeliever101

It’s also part of their class warfare scheme.

    • Wonder Pony

I know you already know this, as does everyone on this board: They are against it because it makes it more difficult to commit fraud. And the Dems can NOT win without fraud.
There. That wasn’t so difficult to say.

      • nc

Actually, though that’s the main reason, WP, there is a bonus reason: Notice that Dems always make this an issue about Repubs trying to suppress black voters, thereby squeezing in the race card. Every little bit helps!

        • Wonder Pony

Does the Race Card require a photo ID?

          • lak114

That made me laugh! Good one!

    • annieoakley

Because: The dems want : convicted felons to vote, illegals, (mostly Mexicans) to vote, and Muslims to vote, and finally, blacks to vote more than one time. All are possible anyway but much easier without a Photo ID.Super easy with Early, Late, mail voting. No Mexican is going to leave work and stand in line with people to cast his vote. A lot of black people won’t vote because, they are too busy with other parts of their life, unless it is easy and they can maybe vote two or three times for another Black person. You know, because they have held down so long.

    • mike_in_kosovo

Because, with Voter ID, they can’t “stack the deck” with people voting illegally.

    • Worship Dancer

because then they can’t bus in hundreds of people to vote thousands of times.

    @TheDemocrats – “The @GOP —> Limiting voting rights. #MakingItHappen”
Yeah. You pretty much got it right there.
We are the ones that want it limited.
Limited to one vote for each legal voting citizen.
And you honestly believe that there’s a problem with that concept???

  • ObamaFail

Democrats should be honest for one time in their careers and admit what this is really about. Voter fraud is what got Obama elected TWICE. Hell, two people were convicted this year when it came out that Obama only got on the ballot in 2008 because people on his campaign forged hundreds of signatures. So he only got to run because of FRAUD. The idea that everyone only gets to vote once hurts their feelings, because they’re afraid that without voter fraud, they won’t be able to win elections.

    • Love of Country

And yet Democrats demand ID to go visit them ….. they truly personify the hypocritical racists of the highest order. Racist scum.

  • alanstorm

There’s only one reason to oppose voter ID – because you INTEND to cheat.

    • ObamaFail

They’re also scared that they won’t be able to use dead people to vote Democrat in elections.

  • http://www.davidsmusings.com/ David

I could at least respect Democrats if they would be honest, totally honest as to why they are against Voter ID. It’s because they would lose approximately 20-25% of their voting base illegally in the country. That is what is not being said by either side in this “new crisis” manufactured by Democrats.

This is only about insuring that Democrat voters can get away with voter fraud. In this day and age, you NEED an ID. The typical Dem voter is a welfare leech who votes Democrat because they are promised that they will never have to work or be a productive member of society. And to get entitlements? You NEED A FREAKING ID. And to register to vote, YOU NEED AN ID.

  • AaronHarrisinAlaska

I’m still trying to figure out how having a photoID is supposed to disenfranchise minority voters.

    • ObamaFail

Democrats believe that minorities are so stupid, so lazy, and so poor that they are unable or unwilling to go get a valid ID. THis is all part of the Dems putting people into categories and believing minorities NEED the government to hold their hand for everything.

      • Love of Country

Not to mention the states that have enacted these laws have had higher turnout %’s for blacks than whites.

In other words, there is actually empirical evidence that shows the Left is just FOS on this entire topic.

        • ObamaFail

I’m having a hard time finding any topic the left isn’t full of it on.

    • The Penguin

That’s because it doesn’t. It only disenfranchises people who do not have the right to vote legally. Which, is technically not “disenfranchising” anyone. It’s the law that you have to be a citizen of the US to vote already. No more, no less. Easy enough to prove, if you are in fact that.

      • VerminMcCann

I once challenged a liberal to provide evidence that voter ID laws are part of a deliberate effort to suppress black votes. (He was claiming that voter ID was part of a deliberate suppression effort.) The best he could come up with was a county in northern Wisconsin. He claimed it was nearly impossible for residents of the county to get ID’s. I looked into the counties demographics. If I recall correctly, the county was about 90 percent white, 8 percent latino, and 2 percent “other including black.” Almost all of the latino’s and “others” lived in the more urban areas of the county where obtaining an ID was simply a matter of going to the DMV. The rural areas, where there were some minor impediments to getting an ID, were almost exclusively white. I told him I was shocked to learn of the hostility the GOP harbored toward the descendants of German immigrants and pointed out that, at best, his example demonstrated that the problems associated with voter ID laws are incidental rather than deliberate.

He called me racist one last time and went away.

        • The Penguin

Like children, when a leftist is left with nothing for an intelligent retort, an insult and then outta here.

          • stuckinIL4now

Yeah, “racist” is the libturd code word for “we’re losing the argument”.

    • RosiesSeeingRed

Exactly. That’s why you have to ask them to their faces why they think blacks and other minorities are incapable of getting IDs while whites are perfectly capable. That seems to be their argument, and If that’s not racism on their part, I don’t know what is. People on the right think everyone is capable of getting themselves an ID, regardless of race or skin color. The left thinks the requirement to get an ID is too hard for minorities. Their inferior view of minorities is on display for the world to see as they stupidly continue to insist that voter ID laws disenfranchise minorities.

  • conservativemomma

Just look at how the CinC-US dealt with the OBVIOUS voter intimidation done by the NBPP…

    • ObamaFail

They need to do their research. People in Ohio have been charged (this year) for voter fraud in the 2012 elections. One woman was charged with voting 6 times at 6 different polls. The Dems ignore this fact because so far, only Obama voters have been charged with voter fraud.

      • nc

Oooh, I remember the big investigation the media did about it too. NOT!

  • Michelle

Although ALL these arguments are good, the Left usually comes back with driving a car, buying cold meds (activities for which you must have an ID) are not Constitutionally protected rights, but rather privileges (and they are correct in that respect) – it’s best to use their own logic on them, which leaves one argument they NEVER have an answer for: Owning a gun in this country is a Constitutionally protected right, and yet NO ONE can legally own one without first showing a valid ID. So when they want to use the argument that requiring an ID is a barrier to someone exercising their Constitutional right to vote, slam them right back by asking why they have NO ISSUE with an ID being mandatory in order to exercise the Constitutional right to own a gun. They NEVER have an answer for that one and in my eyes, completely voids their argument.

Also, I notice they never have an issue with poor folks somehow, some way coming up with a valid ID when they apply for welfare, yet asking them to use the VERY SAME ID to vote is somehow discriminatory? When a poor person is asked to show an ID to be given welfare – TADA! They magically come up with one, but ask them to show one to vote? That’s racist and discrimination! The Left’s views on voter ID laws is one in which their absolute hypocrisy is astonishing. The truth is, they don’t want illegal immigrants, dead people and dogs to not be allowed to vote because if we were able to, as a country as a whole, insist of IDs to vote, the Left would lose a HUGE part of their voter base and they know it!

    • BoltUp

And if you look at the reader comments on some of the protest articles about the new NC law, they consistently refer to this law as the source of fraud, and winning by any means. Unreal.

  • AlmaAlma

Well you should ask your Govt. if proof of ID can be completely halted in ALL cases. If they say no, then ask them why not?

    • nc

I’m assuming a photo ID is required to vote in Austrailia, right?

      • AlmaAlma

No. It wouldn’t be a problem if it was required. As we don’t have borders attached to another country with multiple illegals crossing everyday, we don’t have as much of a possible issue of non-citizens voting.

        • nc

          Of course. D’oh!

      • AlmaAlma

Mexico require voter ID don’t they.

        • nc

I believe so. Someone will correct us if we’re wrong.

They also have much stricter immigration laws. Go figure!

          • AlmaAlma

My previous answer was deleted. Not sure why.
In Australia we don’t have voter ID with photos but when we turn up to vote we give them our name and address and they cross us off the book. Really, when you think about it, it could be quite easy to pretend to be us.

Being an island, we have an issue with illegal immigrants coming by boat, but they are captured and detained for quite a while. There isn’t as much of a risk of non-citizens voting.

Hopefully we will be voting out our leftist Govt in September. I’m hoping the whole world votes out these lefties, as I believe they work with eachother (sorry if I sound tinfoil hat).

  • Aitch748

To do your civic duty and serve on a jury, you need an ID. But to do your other civic duty, voting, you do not need one.

You need an ID just to get into the damn courthouse, before you even get picked to serve on the jury in the first place. (And when you get that letter telling you to report to the courthouse that first day, you’re expected to show up and can get in trouble with the law if you don’t.)

But needing an ID to vote? When no sheriff or marshall is going to show up at your door with a summons to appear in court if you fail to vote? Lord have mercy, that ID requirement is a violation of your civil rights. /

  • LegalizeShemp

When it came to public surveillance cameras and NSA spying, the libs told us, “hey, if you’re not doing anything wrong, what are you worried about”? Same here, if you are legally registered to vote, why worry about being asked for a voter ID ?

ONE person – ONE vote. Not ONE person filling out numerous voter registration applications using various names and addresses thus allowing them to vote in multiple precincts, counties, and states without presenting an ID.

  • Dave Wiggins

To exercise my 2nd amendment right to conceal a firearm on my person, I need a photo I.D. License to Carry a Firearm.

  • 3niaj3

That’s funny, when the bus picked me up on the street and told me were going to go vote for Obama we didn’t even have to tell anyone we weren’t citizens, we just told them we wanted to vote. For a minute there a lady looked to see if our names were on a list to vote and when they weren’t we got to vote anyway! If it weren’t for people like us, Obama probably wouldn’t have won. I’m so glad we didn’t have to show picture ID’s, cause they couldn’t prove we were not suppose to vote. We spent all day going from one voting place to another and voted in each place we went!

  • kevin manville

This is very disrespectful to all of the dead people who vote in our elections, many are incapable of taking a good photo for their ID.

    • Guest

And most of them probably would have voted the other way if they were still around.

  • Tessa I.

I’ve lived in the same place for seven years. Every couple of months I use the local inter-city bus system, and guess what? I need a photo ID. All of the clerks know me by sight, but I still show the ID because they’d be fired if someone finds out they let me get a ticket without flashing that magic piece of laminated paper. Buy a plane ticket, order a beer, pay for anything by credit card or check–photo ID. It’s just one more part of living in an increasingly computerized society where fraud and nanny laws are both out of control.

Voting is a serious responsibility and should be treated as such. That means making it at least as consequential as buying a freaking lottery ticket.

  • Republicanvet

I tried getting my drivers license changed to CO after moving here. I had a valid drivers license issued in the state I moved from. I could not use that as ID to get me new DL because it did not have my full name spelled out as required by the Real ID act. I had a federal ID that I showed which allows me to get on airplanes, but it also was not allowed because the DMV was too stupid to read their own guidelines. I was told I needed an original long form birth certificate from the state I was born in…a certified copy was unacceptable. I asked for and received a copy of the list of acceptable ID. I saw if I were Mexican, several documents up to 20 years old were acceptable. After three days of trying to get my drivers license and several emails to nitwits, I finally provided enough proof that my federal ID should be accepted.

  • Trenton Hansen

Be fair. Liberals didn’t know you needed ID to get a job…they’ve never had one.

and when I paint my nails, and have to buy nail polish remover at CVS, I need a photo ID. Man, what have we become.

  • Republicanvet

On the last election, there was a state somewhere that required photo ID…I don’t recall which. The left used some poor WWII vet by taking him to a polling place where he was turned away because of no ID. It was an obvious setup because he could have gotten a free state issued ID…and they chose not to.

  • Iampam

Once you are born everyone gets a voter id number, birth certificate, and social security number. Problem solved. Republicans will cry foul.

  • Guest

If we had actual elections where a valid photo ID was strictly enforced, all living voters participated, and all the voter rolls were purged beforehand, can you imagine the excuses and horror of discovering the number of Democrats staying home from the elections.

And, by “home,” I take it you mean the “Eternal Home.”

  • kelly curtis

Democrats. Instead of helping their voters acquire a photo ID, they fight tooth and nail to keep their constituents unable to function in society. What is ironic is that they can sure as hell get them registered to vote, but not registered for a free voter ID.

  • GulfPundit

You need a photo ID to take the SAT. You need a photo ID AND fingerprints to sell real estate, commercially fish, be a hairdresser…

    • Emily B

I had to submit DNA for a job once.

      • nc

They took my fingerprints and pee for a freaking low paying temp job. AND of course show the photo ID.

    • Night Owl

I had to take a freaking lie detector test to work at a 7-11 back in the 80’s!

  • Cory

I don’t disagree with the ID requirement. However I do disagree with the other changes in terms of less days to vote and no more same day voting. Was that necessary to put in the bill? Why couldn’t they just stop at the ID part?

    • alanstorm

Same-day needs to go. If you are so incapable of planning that
you can’t get an ID (for the 5 or 6 people out there without one), you
probably shouldn’t be voting. Do you believe that every dame-day registration is checked? I bet none of them are.

Absentees I have no problem with – provided they have an earlier deadline so they can be checked prior to election day.

      • Cory

Why can’t you just have the ID’s made at the voting place? Kill two birds with one stone. What’s wrong with same day registration? Everything is mostly electronic now, and if you run their ID through the system it should show that they’ve already voted.

        • ibelieveinfreedom2

Oh, so you mean instead of an ID they can bring their birth certificate to get the ID? Great idea, maybe we can get obama to register to vote right there at the polls and he’ll bring his BC.

          • Cory

Come on dude, the birther thing is dead. You have to let that go.

    • nc

If you can’t fit the voting into your schedule, there is always the absentee voting option.

      • Cory

You still haven’t answered why the shorter days though? How does that prevent voter fraud?

        • nc

The new North Carolina Voter ID law shortens early voting from 17 to 10 days. Ten days should cover anyone’s schedule, and if it doesn’t, like I said, there is always the absentee voting option.

If you’re going to ask me again how 10 days prevents voter fraud, I’ll ask you, why 17 days? Why not 27? Or 37?

As far as the eliminating same-day registration, does that need an explanation?

          • Cory

You can easily run someone’s ID through the system to see if they’re eligible to vote and then register them on that day. What’s the big problem? On the amount of days, it does look suspicious when you shorten the days and eliminate same day voting when that’s what a lot of minorities use. I’m all for the ID’s and I’d even have ID processing at the same place, but the shortening of the days is what I disagree with. It seems like they are suppressing the Democratic vote, it makes the GOP look soft.

          • nc

            Sez who? Dems? Pfft.

          • Noah

yeah. apparently they are gonna keep track of voters when they couldnt even keep track of the guns they shipped across the border?!

          • nc

I would LOL, but it’s too true to be funny.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

who’s going to be running the ID through ‘the system’, police? Or should we be setting up more bureaucratic red tape? Voting places are not set up to do that. If the days are shortened, how does that target just democrats? I don’t understand that logic. Aren’t republicans and independents going to have the exact same amount of time? That’s a ridiculous argument.

          • Cory

Yes police could run it, that would make it more fair. Most gopers use absentee balloting. It’s all good though, this will just give the Dems another talking point and increase their turnout. Honestly it doesn’t matter, most likely Hillary will win no matter what the law is.

          • mike_in_kosovo

            Most gopers use absentee balloting.

            Speaking of talking points…

          • mike_in_kosovo

You can easily run someone’s ID through the system to see if they’re eligible to vote and then register them on that day. What’s the big problem?

They can’t even get E-verify working to validate people for jobs – why do you think an even *bigger* system will work any better?

          • Jeff Coil

How does shortening the days only suppress the Democrat vote? How does it suppress the vote at all? What is the difference between voting 10 days early vs 17 days early? Please explain the logic behind this.

    • ibelieveinfreedom2

I could be wrong, but I understood that there were fewer days but longer hours or more days and fewer hours but whatever it was worked out to the same amount of time. That being said, NEVER should we allow same day registration and voting. If it’s that important to you register in time so the registrar can verify your information. If you don’t care enough to do that, then it’s on you that you don’t get to vote. Voting isn’t a right, it’s a responsibility, a civic duty. Take it seriously and prepare.
The democrats were rounding up people on the streets and bringing them by busloads to various precincts where they would register and vote on the same day. How many of them voted where they were supposed to then got on the bus and voted in other places. Yes that’s plural, places because they didn’t just stop at one place, when they were done they went to another one. Some people admitted to getting on buses and doing this and those buses were full, so you know there were 60+ on each one and there were quite a few. So how many of them voted 3, 4, or more times?

When I go to an amusement park, zoo, or the like and rent a wheelchair we not only have to show someone in our party’s DL we have to leave the DL with them until we return the wheelchair. • ELC

What’s the big deal…I don’t know how many times in my busy day I need to show a photo ID. Why get hysterical about it?When I go to vote I’ve always need a picture ID. So what’s the issue? The Democrats should then go out and take pictures of all those without photo id’s so they’ll have them next time we need to vote. Then all those desinfranchised will be able to vote w/out a problem. The only problem here is the idiot Democrats are constantly looking for problems.

    • Night Owl

The left is willing to go pick people up by the busload to vote, and bribe them with liquor and cigarettes, but they won’t take them to get a voter ID?

    • Jeff Coil

The problem isn’t that people cant get ID’s, and the Dems know this. The problem is that showing ID will prevent people from voting two or more times, which is a common Union/Democrat tactic. Also digging up dead people to take their picture for their ID is too much work.

  • Raj Arjan

I am a legal immigrant from India. I have to show ID for EVERYTHING!!!!!

  • RosiesSeeingRed

So if requiring a photo ID to vote is racist, then requiring a photo ID to get into the white house is racist, no? And the TSA is racist, as is every government agency which requires an ID to gain benefits, right? And the local library, and public schools and hospitals — all racists because they require IDs. The DMV — major racists! And the passport office — racist! And CVS! And all those other places ThomasHCrown named — all RACISTS for having the audacity to require an ID, which discriminates against minorities, especially blacks! That’s what the left is saying, right??

  • MrApple

“Alone among all of my public civil rights — assembly, trial, bearing arms, political speech — somehow, voting cannot be burdened with ID.”

Here’s something you can also use to throw in the face of a Liberal and leave them speechless. Our own White House recently announced the accomplishments of the Yes Youth Can voter campaign in Kenya. It’s a $54 million program to get youth in Kenya to vote and be a part of the democratic process. Yes, a good part of that $53 million is provided by…our tax dollars. Click the link below and read the very first accomplishment boasted by the White House…part of the $53 million was spent to (wait for it…) help people in Kenya acquire VOTER ID CARDS (because voter ID is the law in Kenya!) This administration HELPED people of Kenya get voter ID cards by providing money for them to do so, but this same administration FIGHTS voter ID laws here because they’re racist? DO THEY EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO HOW CONTRADICTORY THEY ARE?

    • Dr Duke

Same here I went for my voter registration and the poll worker recoiled in horror. Yet my voter registration says right on it to carry it in your billfold. I carry it but I have never been asked to show it.

I never read that Constitutional amendment that said the right to vote shall not be infringed … I suppose if it were there, we’d need an ID.

  • pgson

This is about in part fooling the already on board drones for votes, but far more importantly … this is about making sure that widespread fraud can never be caught. Dead votes, multiple votes, people who never existed … it’s all possible.OF COURSE. THIS IS COMMON SENSE. There’s NO way to tell who voted accurately, EVER, without some measure of evidence to back up who they were in the first place! A damn ID. This should be shoved down their throats EVERY time they use it be cause this, and the Obama/democrat machine overseeing the election process, period, ensures that we can never expect that we’re getting an actual fair vote. We might as well be Egypt a couple of years ago with the multiple Muslim Brotherhood members on the ballot, and MB members with rifles ensuring the masses vote, or else. We don’t even need that level of upfront fraud when they do it this easily, unquestioned.

I love it when they cite statistics to back their notion that voter fraud is really so low that ID’s are not necessary. Of course, the stats don’t include those who successfully get away with voting illegally. There is one, and only one, reason they are against ID’s. Requiring their use will diminish the illegal votes that they need to win.

    • Jeff Coil

That one always makes me scratch my head. How do you know if someone is voting multiple times with different names if you don’t check ID? Only a “few” cases of voter fraud doesn’t mean only a “few” cases exist. It means that only a “few” of the people committing voter fraud are caught.

Isn’t it MORE racist for the Dems to believe that minorities are sooo stupid that they cannot obtain a simple ID? It’s not difficult; and if you can prove that you are low-income, they will give it to you for FREE.

So what’s the deal? Are blacks and hispanics soooo stupid that they cannot figure out how to go to the DMV, fill out a form (or someone will do it for you, I’ve been told) and obtain an identification card? How racist is that thinking?

I for one believe that they are totally capable and possess the mental acuity to successfully obtain an ID. That should actually make me LESS racist than the Dems.

The Dem’s aren’t opposed to the voter ID concept because of disenfranchisement. They stand in opposition because their constituency, inner-city (mostly) black populations, are afraid that the police will be at the polling places, ready to nab them when they show up to vote…apparently because so many of them have outstanding Arrest Warrants.

Plus, it’s too easy to verify that the person voting is the person on the registration form, although Democrats INSIST that “there is no proof of widespread voter fraud.” So, why not make sure there remains “no proof” of voter fraud?
