Anti-ALEC Protesters take to Chicago streets, blame group for Trayvon Martin death

The American Legislative Exchange Council is a favorite punching bag for the perpetually outraged Left, and today is no exception. In Chicago over the next few days for its annual meeting, the group has once again found itself the target of clueless liberal outrage:

Um, that doesn’t rhyme.

Yeah … more than a year later, lefties are still blaming ALEC for Trayvon Martin’s death:

These protesters apparently fail to see the irony of calling for gun control in Chicago. The Windy City’s highly restrictive gun laws foster murder rather than prevent it.

Yep. A die-in. That’s how you get people to take you seriously!

Good stuff.

On the docket for tomorrow, courtesy of a MoveOn Civic Action email:

The Chicago Federation of Labor, Jobs with Justice, Stand Up Chicago, Citizen Action Illinois, MoveOn and others are joining together to protest against this corporate funded organization that promotes state laws to benefit corporations, harm workers and suppress voter registration.

See you tomorrow!

I want to become a member now. #YesToALEC

    • Johnny Right

Why aren’t they protesting the death of youths in Caprini Greens?

    • Elaine

They truly do not want to let this “crisis” go to waste, do they? Pathetic losers.

      • Elaine Biggest loser in the “spontaneous” crowd? Maybe.

        • WMDOwl

Kit O’Connell is an Occupy Austin Anarchist, Gay Rights Advocate, Pro Legalization of Marijuana and S&M participant. He is a very dangerous Marxist known for frequent encounters with Law Enforcement in Austin.

These minorities RACIST do understand that the STAND YOUR GROUND laws, now in 30 states, are in place because whites are 18 times more the victims of crime at the hands of minorities, RIGHT !!!!! I now it is an uncomfortable fact for minorities to handle but I say tough !!!!!! Now this fact is even worse, b!ack males are only 6% of the total U.S. population but over 3% of those b!ack males commit over half of all the murders in the U.S. !!!! Maybe they should explain that one to the rest of us, or even better yet hold a protest in Chicago where over 90% of the ILLEGAL gun crime deaths were caused by b!acks kiIIing other b!acks, NOW THATS INSANE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RblDiver

Hey hey, ho ho, old chants are old ya know, hey hey…

  • mickeyco

About 3 doz. protesters for at least 4 issues?( SYG, Trayvon, unions and climate change) And they want us to believe this is spontaneous.

    • tjack

      Don’t forget tomorrow’s spontaneous protest.

    • Frank Drebin

A group of sweaty pork-bellies dressed in hoodies in downtown Chicago… in August, demanding that SOMEBODY do SOMETHING about global warming.

    • Richard Jefferies

I’m not sure anyone could get an accurate body count in that churning pool of lard and knit as it lumbered along.

      • Le Chiffre

Reminds me of last summer’s best quote.. Newt Gingrich regarding the Occupy Wall Street wankers “Why don’t you occupy a bath?”

    • Johnny Right

The left will hijack anything so that it can push everything it wants.

    • Elaine

Even Jesse Jackson calls on crowd to stand their ground? He hasn’t spoken much since the SILENT, maybe PHONY, SCANDAL about Jesse Jr.? Wonder where the media was then? Such unbelievable hypocrites. WHERE IS THE DIRT ON JESSE JR. all over the news? No where, even excuse for his corrupt behavior.

  • canyongirl

are all these fat people on welfare, food stamps, no wonder we’re broke.

    • Billie Slash

LOL! My thoughts exactly! Fat, stupid, and unemployed is no way to go through life.

    • Hiraghm

I spent last night trying to strip 50 layers of wax buildup from one of the entrances to Buy-n-Large, using harsh chemicals. We always deactivate those doors at 10pm every night, and reopen them at 7am.
Promptly at 7am, although we weren’t yet finished, typical self-centered, unthinking LIVs broke open the deactivated doors so they could walk across the chemical residue and enter the store, rather than using the open entrance. It wasn’t like there was a line or anything. Just a typical disregard for anything or anybody who gets in the way of what they want.

We dreaded midnight on the 1st, and 5th, when the welfare crowd trashed the store as they stampede through it to spend their hard-earned money (hard earned… just not by them).

  • Roy

    Doesn’t anybody have a J O B around there?

    • Clayton Grant

      Rhetorical question, right?

    • CR

We don’t know, it is possible some of them were paid for protesting just like those ads for the paid pro-abortion protestors. It is also possible that some are next in line for President of MSNBC.

    • Judy Taylor

This IS their job. This is what astro-turf looks like. Sadly, our side can’t be there. We’re busy working to fund their government benefits.

    • $9898556

Clearly they’re at their job Roy. They’re all paid protesters.

  • Scott

Dammit, I was hoping it was an ANTI ALEC BALDWIN event!

    • EllisWyatt

Let’s start our own meme: Alec Baldwin killed Trayvon! These idiots would fall for anything.

      • Scott

If only it would work and they would flashmob that pompous A HOLE.with billy clubs!! We are allowed to dream right?

        • David Atherton

NO, Scott, that’s reserved for illegals.

        • Jay Stevens

Well, MLK, Jr. had a dream. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to have worked out very well.

          • exbobbie

No, it’s turned into a nightmare.

  • Chevypowered

Sheep. Stupid, stupid. Sheep. Easily controlled, easily coerced, easily susceptible to mild verbal suggestions.

    • Billie Slash

It wouldn’t be hard to bribe this group with a combo meal from McDonald’s.

      • Chevypowered

A few looked like they were bribed multiple times.

        • WhoMeToo

          In the same hour.

      • CR

I was kind of thinking, are they all boycotting Weight Watchers and good nutrition too?

    • Guest

You just described the only brain that hypnotism actually works on.

    • Jay Stevens

Speaking as as an old retired sheepdog, this is what I spent twenty years protecting? The herd badly needs culling.

      Jay Stevens
      U. S. Army, ret.

  • Chevypowered

“Speaker:Stand your ground kills our youth and children everyday, we are standing up against.”

Hell I thought it was gang, and drug violence?

    My bad.

    • David Atherton

They need to teach their children not to attack armed citizens.

  • Ben Bollman

Yes, clearly the best society has to offer…

    • Jeremy

Yeah they are shining examples of the wonderful Public School system.

  • Magnifico

I envy the left for their chanting. That seems like the sort of stress-free fun that requires zero independent thought.

    • Richard Jefferies

As a friend once said, “it must be liberating being a zealot. Never having to consider the argument, just chanting incessantly.”

  • Frustrated Teacher

Hey, hey, ho, ho, LIV’s have got to GO!
Do you think it would change their minds to show them the evidence that SYG laws benefit blacks at about 3 times the rate of whites?

    • Clayton Grant

      It’s ideology, not logic.

    • Canadian in USA

I don’t think these people worry about facts – they just want to stick it to “the man”.

  • JTP81

Trayvon really should be the least of Chicago’s worries, maybe they should protest themselves…

  • Jack Deth

“No ALEC, no bourgeoisie no racist CPD!”

    That’s a chant???

That is supposed to get people’s attention???

WAYYYYYYYYYY too many syllables which no one understand.

Considering the chanters wouldn’t know “bourgeoisie” if it bit them in the a$$.

Sounds like a chorus of pigs chosen and kicked in the ribs by committee. More annoying to the pigs than any supposed audience.

Another “Zero divided equally. Zero sum gain, non event event”.

  • NRPax

So an organization that supports laws that allow people to protect themselves from thugs is being protested by thugs. Oh look! My shocked face! -:-|

  • Booker

Probably another offshoot of ACORN. These protesters that is.

    • TopCat_Texas

I wonder if the DOJ organizers where present as they were in FL. Our tax dollars paying to create these protests is not a good thing.

  • waltzingmtilda

I’m not usually one to make remarks about other people’s appearances, but…that die in looks like a bunch of beached whales.

    • NRPax

They’re so fat, when they dance the band skips.

      • IceColdTroll

        Well done!

        • NRPax

*bow* That has always been one of my favorite “Yo momma” jokes.

  • Abiss

That drives me crazy. I NEVER seem to have a fast-moving SUV in the right place at the right time. #MoreWindshieldWasherFluidPlease

    • NRPax

There, there…it’s OK. The opportunity will come along sooner or later.

    • NRPax

There, there…it’s OK. The opportunity will come along sooner or later.

  • Judy Taylor

From a petite senior citizen: Thank you, ALEC, for giving victims a chance.

  • KansasGirl

I’ll say one thing…the majority looked pretty well fed.

  • peteee363

for some reason people who pull the trigger never seem to be blamed for all the violence, only anybody who wants people to be able to defend themselves. funny, huh?

  • Markward

I wish I could have been at the “die-in” to nut check them all, just to see who is alive. Oh, and use steel toe boots for it too.

  • Steve_J

Ho, ho, hey, hey, how many children were killed in Chicago today

  • IceColdTroll

Someone would like a word with you…..

  • louisiana_mom

I just love these “grassroots” protests of the Left’s with their professionally made signs and t-shirts along with their recycled 60’s “hey hey ho ho …. ” chants… /sarc.

  • MSM

Good thing all these grassroots protesters don’t have to work on weekdays. I know when I want to spontaneously protest something I just tell my boss, “Be back sometime next week. Don’t forget to pay me! I’m fighting for justice!” Bosses are cool with stuff like that!

  • Right Wired

There are 8 million democrats living within 100 miles, and the could only had a couple dozen show up. Now that’s pathetic.

  • Le Chiffre

I’m ashamed to be part of my generation. We buy into ANYTHING, and will be part of any aimless “movement” for the sole reason of belonging to something…anything. Self reliance and free thought are void. Thank God for parents who raised me to think for myself and question everything before believing in anything.

    • NRPax

A quiet correction to your statement is in order:

      We They buy into ANYTHING.

I’m guessing you’re a bit more free thinking than that.

      • Le Chiffre

Yes, thank you. I’d like to to think so!

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    A plethora of LibTurds-and I need to get some rotten eggs and Tomatoes to throw at ’em (It might make ’em smell better..) Jawamax 8<{D}

  • MrApple

A Protesters die-in? There are a number of mean things that I could say about this but I won’t lower myself to their level of spitefulness or stupidity.

  • alanstorm

The very epitome of low-info voters.

  • walterc

Why would ALEC be dumb enough to hold it’s convention in Chicago? Were they trying to put the spot light on the total lack of law and order in that city? Why not go some place where they can have fun? Like Dallas, TX, Salt Lake City, UT, or even Casper, Wy?

  • Wiki David

    Common Core question #251:
If there are 50 fists in the air, how protesters have a full time job with benefits?
    Bonus question:
How many protesters have a diploma and can read and write at a 10th grade level?
    For extra credit:
How many protesters can read this?

    For double secret probation:
How many protesters can count that high?

  • marcellucci

    Well they certainly didn’t “die-in” from starvation…….fat slobs….

  • exbobbie

Haven’t these people figured out yet, that the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law was not used in the Zimmerman/Martin case, Zimmerman’s defense was ‘Self defense’.

I read somewhere that the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law has been used and been successful for a lot of African Americans, in fact the article stated that using percentages of population, African Americans have used it more that any other racial group. I don’t know if this is true, or not, but if it is, these people should be careful what they ask for.
