Scott Stringer seemed to have an easy path to the job of New York City comptroller until a certain Eliot Spitzer decided to jump into the race and steal the limelight. How does one fight back against that sort of name recognition, regardless of how it came about? Bring out the secret weapon: “Girls” creator and star Lena Dunham.
Comptroller races don’t usually draw this sort of celebrity star power — what’s on Dunham’s mind? She’s apparently out to save gritty New York from the scourge of gentrification.
