Magic Johnson cuts Riley Cooper some slack; Touré cuts Johnson’s tweet

Earvin “Magic” Johnson doesn’t believe Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper’s teammates will ever forgive him for using the “N-word” while attending a concert recently, but in a tweet today he did say he believes Cooper deserves a second chance regardless.

Riley Cooper’s teammates will never forgive him, I don’t care what they say publicly. Riley should be given a second chance. People will never look at Riley Cooper the same.

Johnson’s statement didn’t fit into 140 characters, but with a little selective editing, MSNBC host Touré managed to pass along some of Johnson’s thought — it’s a shame the part about a second chance didn’t make it to Touré’s followers.

  • Love of Country

Toure is like a dumb little racist kid. I guess that’s why he appeals to MSNBC’s embarrassing audience.

    • CombatDiver

You mean all 5 people that make up their audience? I think more people have commented on this story than actually watch him…. They are perfectly fine with tourés vile, verbal diarrhea.

      • alanstorm

        5? Isn’t that a 250% increase?

    • Yep

That do.u.che is an angry little moron who is so upset at the fictional world he’s created. If he were a little brighter perhaps he wouldn’t be so angry.

I will bet you every one of those black players on that team and even Toure have used the N word and they have also used racial slurs against other races. Its all hypocrisy double standard.

    • Jeremy

Yeah it is a big double standard.

    • Mark81150

and none of his “team mates” ever said “cracka”?

      ever?

doubtful.. as doubtful as Toure’s claim to honest journalist. Hell while in the service, the barrack’s humor went there among our darker skinned brethren, they could say it, but white’s could not, they could say white trash redneck cracka.. and it was just a joke man..

not sure when black racism became the right of every bigot on America from the black community, but it has..

everybody else has to pass a thought purity test..

but they can be in your face with their racism, and that’s just fine.

      • jkpalmdale

        Well said

  • Clayton Grant

Tourè is just playing to his demographics. They pay his bills!

  • Jeremy

This is no surprise coming from Toure a 9/11 nutcase and moron at large. He wants to find a racist all he needs to do is look in a mirror.

  • Maxx

With Toure, it’s taxing enough on his brain to START a thought, let alone finish one.

Let’s take a moment to probe into the mind and see what we can come up with…..

As our instruments have discovered, the moment a thought first enters his head, 99.5% of his cerebrum is calculating how he can twist it into a racial prejudice issue, which leaves the remaining .5% hopelessly struggling to create a non-prejudiced, coherent message, hence another example of the daily brain bumbling buffoonery we’ve come to expect from MSNBC’s cackling cacophony of putrid puerility.

  • MKM

Wait, are we sure that Cooper didn’t say “ni**A”? ‘Cuz you know, if ends with an “A”, it’s okay! So says Rachel Jenteel, and she’s the expert…

Toure RT’d us one time despite us responding to him a bunch of times, and at that time he edited the tweet to make us sound like we were trying to make a different point.

  • PeterP

Only people who have had a hemispherectomy are shocked that Toure would selectively edit out the parts of a statement that do not serve his militant, race-baiting agenda. No racism means Toure is detailing my car.

  • PeterP

Toure interrupted his daily diet of the “music” of Lil Wayne to admonish a white man for using the N-word. Removed his headphones right before hearing these lyrics:

    “I ain’t lookin’ back, nigga.
I’m a douchebag to these pussy ass niggas.
Hammer in my draws but I nail yo bitch.
Blunts like fingers, I’m bout to make a fist.
Everybody die, gon’ bury me alive.”

Make Riley Cooper look like Man – friggin – dela.

  • Magnifico

I don’t use the “n” word, but I know people who do, and they generally don’t direct it at every black person…..just like blacks who call us crackers.

    • Brother bob

Oh you mean nigga without the r which is not offensive right?

  • mapache

Come on boys… stop calling each other names, put it behind you and play f&&&&&& football. What a bunch of wussy girlie-men……I don’t know if I can forgive him! boo hoo….I can never trust again, boo hoo hoo. I am sure this will be used as the excuse for the pitiful season the Eagles will have.

I am tired of what PC is doing to football!

  • kateorjane

So if an honest apology for the use of that word isn’t enough – makes you wonder why anyone bothers apologizing for it. People might as well just say “it’s just a word – grow up & get over it .”

  • Joe W.

My standard response to this crap:

    • CatHerder

      Saved it!

    • wwbdinct

That’s exactly how I feel Joe…..I’m checking out on the whole race thing. It’s crystal clear the lefties don’t want to live together in peace and harmony. Fine. As long as no one bothers me – I’m fine with that! I would like to thank them though for undoing everything I taught my kids about being colorblind and how no one is more special than anyone else. Apparently I was quite wrong to raise them that way.

      • Joe W.

Yup….sad, but true…..I’m glad I am as old as I am and won’t be around in 20 years to live in this hell hole that the U.S. is devolving into. Thank God that here in Texas, we are behind the rest of the country in collapsing.

        • wwbdinct

Well Joe, on a personal note, I do hope that you will still be around in 20 years!

          • Joe W.

And I appreciate that, my friend. It’s a crap shoot at this point, seeing as how I am 64 years old already…. LOL… Gives me new meaning to the old Beatles song, “When I’m 64″….

        • Thale Taxurfeet

One seasoned citizen to another… I hear what you’re saying Joe.

As far as basing my judgments on race, I’d like to say what Michael Vick might say when last questioned, I’ve got no dog in that fight.

I’ve always tried to judge each individual on their acts and their character, nothing more, nothing less. My time in the military and later in business only reinforced that strategy as the best path to take.

That said, I’m up to the gills with the constant harping of the grievance pimps on needlessly divisive crap like skin color when we have such minor problems as a withering economy, a falling labor participation rate, a dysfunctional and ever more oppressive government to worry about.

So if there is to be a fight, being a large and naturally grumpy old country boy with far fewer days ahead than behind, I’d rather step into it in the place of my children or grandchildren.

gotta gonna keep a copy of that! (if you don’t object?)

Toure is living proof of the huge amount of tolerance white people have

  • Marvin Nelson

Hey Toure, how about Charlie Rangel’s “white cracker” remarks directed toward the Tea Party? Where’s the outrage? Will members of Congress ever forgive him or see him the same way again? You have once again demonstrated your hate and blatant racism. Oh yeah, you are also a big douchenozzle.

    • SkyePuppy

Don’t you know? Black people CAN’T be racist. I think it has something to do with the melanin in the skin. It makes them pure as the driven snow.

Oh wait. It makes them dark… No. Touré can tell you. His heart is lily white. I mean…
Dang! This non-racist stuff is HARD!

  • tjp77

    Toure is human garbage.

    • World B. Free

That’s an insult to human garbage.

  • NickGranite

It’s an ethnic slur, used by the ethnics in question all the time. Toure makes it sound like the guy robbed their homes and banged their wives. Just go play football and stop being such pu_sies.

  • selloursouls

Didn’t know who Riley Cooper was, but now I see the problem with him using the “N” word, he’s white. He should have known only blacks can use that word with impunity. Just wondering how many black NFL players are fined for saying that dreaded word?

  • Larry Rappaport

All I need to see is the word “Black” coupled with “Never Forgive” in the same paragraph. So what’s new Negroes, as if I and 60% of this nation cares.

  • http://baldilocks-talking.blogspot.com/ Juliette Akinyi Ochieng

Toure did this because he wouldn’t dare criticize Magic directly. That’s how passive-aggressives roll.

  • JonInVa

Just as with little kids and bad words, he probably heard that word daily from his black “teammates”, since as we all know blacks not only are allowed to use the word, but freely do each and every day amongst themselves and others. Why is it any different in the NFL? Do all black NFL players speak like Colin Powell, or something? Hardly. A black guy at work used to come into my office and always greet me with “Wassup, my ni**er?

But Cooper gets drunk, then angry, and throws the word out without a thought and the whole world thinks that’s how he truly feels about his teammates and blacks, and his entire life is lie and he’s just some KKK cracker without a shred of dignity. He deserves his head on a spike, is the basic reaction.

Nobody seems to ask whether we’d have this sh*tstorm if Cooper had substituted “a$$holes”, “f*cktards”, “fat-azzed motherfu*kers”, “bald redneck d*cksuckers”, or any number of available epithets in place of the dreaded and oh so unholy (for whites to use ONLY) N-word.

If you want the word Ni**er erased from the minds and tongues of our nation, then EVERYBODY needs to stop using it – especially blacks themselves who keep the word alive and publicly in play 1000 times more than any whites left in this country. And that’s a fact.

    • Selendis

      thank you.

I am so tired of hearing about “bad” words. First, words may be prejudiced, but not really racist. There is a difference. Second, people say a lot of stupid, insensitive things they normally would not when they are angry. Especially the dreaded “n” word, which has simply become another curse word in many circles. Racism is about how you truly feel, and treat people, not what drunken slur came out of your mouth one day.

    • HoneyTree EvilEye

It’s all about context. It’s the exact reason black people say nigger is okay for them to say, but no one else. Because they are assuming context. They’re insinuating that any other color is using it for racism and they are using it in a “loving/brotherly” manner. However the word is not racist, no word is inherently racist, there are barely any that are even mean. The word nigger is latin for black(minus one g). My guess would be when slave owners, or basically everyone in the Americas at the time said nigger they were literally saying “black people”. It’s like cracker, and redneck. They became the black mans refute to nigger but they started in a different manner as well, generally toward the white slaves at the time but in other manners too. Fact is Riley was for whatever reason saying he wanted to beat up the black dudes over there, I’m guessing they were acting like douche-bags. I’ve been called cracker, or more often just “white boy” by black people my whole life on basketball courts. And more often than not they didn’t mean it as a compliment. The only thing that gives racism power is the reaction. You can get pissy and give it attention with just feeds it and helps it grow. Or if you just ignored the words and didn’t care it would eventually die and fade away. I’d also venture a guess that Riley Cooper has more than a few teammates that called white people cracker, or white boy, etc… with racist context more than once and see no problem with it.

  • KansasGirl

Personally, I could care less about what Johnson, Sanders or Vick have to say about ANYBODY!
