‘Seriously?’ Sarah Palin shreds Bob Beckel’s ridiculous claim about Alaska pipeline jobs

Judging from this clip from Fox News’ “The Five” today, that’s what Beckel said:

Beckel: “Do you know how many permanent jobs there are on the Alaska pipeline? About a hundred.”

And with that, school was in session:

Along the way, Palin was informed where the jobs really are:

Ha! We think maybe Beckel got mistaken and accidentally cited the number of permanent full time jobs that will exist in the United States after Obamacare fully kicks in.

  • RblDiver

Even if he was correct, is he saying created jobs aren’t important because “there are so few?” So, small biz’s shouldn’t hire unless they’re hiring more than 100 at a time?

    • CombatDiver

I believe he was saying, in no certain terms, that he needs to wipe off his knees and chin(s) and ask Obama for the $5 he was promised, because it’s obvious that the pipeline is just another phony issue kept alive by us conservatives and Beckel and his messiah are tired of it. just sayin.

  • Kathy

  • WilliamAmos

100 is about 99 more than Obama has created not counting Czars.

    • MyrmidoNOT

Actually, it appears the number may be negative.
Unless (of course) you count part-timers… 😉

      Edit/add-on: …don’t forget the 9,000,000+ jobs
forever (?) lost since “teh oone” took office! ;-(

Maybe we should be discussing the rosy
“employment” picture in downtown Motor City??

    • GaryTheBrave

In short you’re crediting O with creating one private-sector job. You are WAAAYY too generous.

      • WilliamAmos

        Well give him SOME credit.

    • BlueGood

Btw…TransCanada PipeLine just announced this morning they are going ahead with a $12 Billion West to East Canadian Route…..to take Alberta crude to the east coast for refining…

i guess they got tired of waiting for O’Blamo to approve XL…..

  • gregl311

Sarah. Still relevant. Beckel never was or ever will be.

  • ceemack

You really can’t be a liberal if you have your facts straight.

    • Jeremy

Beckel also hates the south and says the south is full of racists.

      • http://www.vatican.va/ Rulz

        Trouble is they’re democrats.

  • idesign2

Sarah just hit Beckel like a halibut..:)

  • bicentennialguy

What continues to amaze me is that fact that these know-nothings, like Beckel, continue to spout their lies and misrepresentations when they KNOW there are people out there who know they are lying. Hello!? We live in the Information Age. Knowledge is available at the click of a button.

  • Gallatin

Beckel: “Do you know how many permanent jobs there are on the Alaska pipeline? About a hundred.”

it would still be 100 more private sector jobs than obowmao has created in 5 years.

    • Teddi

      Obamanomics = epic failure

  • TJ

They might not work on the XL pipeline but even the guy that works the food truck outside the oil refinery is jobs added because of the pipeline caused the refinery to add an extra shift.

  • AaronHarrisinAlaska

Hi there. I live in Alaska. As if the name didnt give that away. I’d like to point out that only is Bob so wrong that a Mensa test would grade him as legally retarded, but the the pipe line itself generates more than several thousand jobs. Alaska is huge, half the size of the continental US to be roughly accurate, but despite that we have a low population for our size. The Pipeline is instrumental in employing much of our citizens. From people who actually work the pipe directly, to the extension in emoting those who move the oil by land or sea. We employ electricians, technicians, architects, computer techs, welders, masons, plumbers, geologists, analysts, security, and many more. And for each outfit we employ they too employ further. Janitors, drivers, pilots. The list goes on and on. And because those people live and work here there is reason to build shopping centers, malls, schools, hospitals, gas stations and other such utility and amenities.

When people who oppose the keystone pipeline talk about the jobs, they speak only of the ones that would be created to build it. Yeah, the number would only be in the triple digits, and only for a couple years. It’s true. But as is the case with most liberals, it’s short sighted and does not look upon the additional jobs and work it would create and generate. Those workers need tools, they have to but those tools. They need gear and uniforms. They’ll have to buy it. When all built they’ll need people to manage, run, protect, and preform upkeep on the pipeline. The keystone pipeline has the possibility the generate jobs for thousands if people, as well as increase the income and there by lower the standard of living in many of the towns it will run through and close to.

    • sandrico suave

Yep – I live in Alaska and inspect the common carriers and TAPS. NS pipelines, southcentral lines and TAPS employs THOUSANDS of people outside the state of Alaska. All one needs to do is read BP, ConocoPhillips, Hilcorp, Repsol, Great Bear and other pipeline companies annual reports to see how many people, in and out of the state, they employ. I believe DOT/PHMSA also has that info somewhere on their website. People are very ignorant, and choose to stay that way in order to sell a load of crap to gullible people. USA – get a grip!

    • Stu Gotts
      • Jeremy

That is surprising but,I am glad Palin took it to him and he was only being nice to her when she showed because,he had too.He only talks bad about her behind her back.

        • Stu Gotts

When she walked in she should have really snapped his suspenders, hard.

          • Jeremy

            That would have been funny.

  • skhpcola

Beckel warns the panel to “be careful of what [you] say”? Typical progtard response to viewpoints that conflict with their juvenile worldview. Does he think that this is Nazi Germany? Mao’s China? Is Obama Stalin or Mussolini? “Be careful of what you say,” indeed. God bless the USA and the First Amendment. Screw Beckel, Obama, Pelousy, and the rest of the neo-fascist trash that define the D-ooshbag party.

  • waterytart

Bob needs to speak of that which he knows, like where to get the best Philly Cheese Steak or something of that nature.

If you pay attention to all the left leaning talking heads, they toss out the most insane things they can think of and guess what….. sadly it seems that most of America BELIEVES IT!

Benghazi, A spontaneous reaction to a film that degrades islam.

Fast and Furious. Exactly the same program that Bush was doing.

IRS. (First) It never happened (second) It happened to only a few (third) it happened to liberal organizations too.

NSA. It is only used to keep track of foreign phone numbers.

AP, Rosen. we would never do anything like that.

  • NixTyranny

Bluster Beckel on The Five is like the noisy drunk at the party. Bluster Beckel thinks he can win the debates by being obnoxious and loud.

  • right_on

Bob Beckel…boob blowhard. Too many brain cells fried from too many years of (sniff-f-f-f). But, everyone there at Fox seem to think he’s a nice guy…but he’s still a blowhard IMO.

  • missyree68

Sarah is always right. Bob can be a real downer for anyone that is not a liberal.

  • http://www.vatican.va/ Rulz

I am glad that we have Beckel’s perspective, but he’s just dead wrong here.

Bob, please don’t carry the kool-aid for the democrat incumbent in Alaska.

I think the left is starting to realize, slowly but surely, that 2014 won’t bode well for them and there are even whispers that Hilary may not be quite the shoe-in after all.

The celebration and sheer arrogance of winning in 2012 is wearing off.

  • AbidewithMe

I sometimes – though rarely – agree on some things with Beckel, but on this point he is just out of line. Liberals never learn not to quote “statistics” they make up in their daily talking points meetings.

    Todd is a lucky man!!!!

  • neoface

Beckel is ridiculous, it surprises me that the other four don’t call him out more often. He lies and often for Oblunder. Not sure how this fat buffoon can live with himself siting stats from his delusional world. Oh that’s right he is a democrap, that’s all they do is lie, lie, and more lies!!!! You go girl, kudos to Palin.

    • http://www.leaguelineup.com/docs DocBarry1

they don’t because they are not true conservatives – Dana is a bushie and a gope, Eric vacillates between conservatism and as a gope he supported Christie at one time

      • neoface

The only person I like on the panel of the five is Gutfeld(if he wasn’t on I probably would watch the show), Dana is way too Pollyanna-ish and she incessantly talk about her stupid dog(the woman need to have a child or something). Eric can make a brownie point with me if he just bitch slap Beckel from time to time. Unfortunately there are not that many worth while shows on TV, even with as many stations available. Wasteland!

        • GaryTheBrave

I like Andrea Tantaros but for reasons that have nothing to do with her political positions. ;-D

          • neoface

I think she is available, talking to her on her radio show might be a good start.

  • Axelgreaser

YES! Gertha Rotunda Beckel said it, I too heard it and have become so immune to this fool I didn’t even beat a path to my computer to hurl insults at the other half of the two famous fatties that fairly shove at and trample one another to be the first in line to stick their tongue down Obama’s throat. Not naming the other one, but he’s from New Jersey. And of course, Obama has destroyed approximately 9 million American jobs to date, so even the asinine number Beckel associated with the Keystone Pipeline must seem ginormous to him, a ‘real success story.’ I actually would love to see Sarah Palin share a screen with portly Beckel and work him over with a pair of the same high heels she’s used to bang Obama over the head with for the past 6 years, and who must have someone at the White House filling the dents in his cranium in with café au lait tinted calking.

    • beebop1952

What is needed is for the unions whose members would benefit from the XL to take their heads out of the democrat rectum and speak up. The unions (boo freaking hoo) would gain the most from approval. Apparently the tree huggers matter more than the goons ….

  • HonestDisqussion

Shouldn’t Bob be talking about jobs created, saved or shovel ready?

  • Stan

This “thought” process by Dems is why there are no jobs. Maybe if illegals were after those jobs we would have the Keystone pipeline too.

  • Sue Lynn

Hey Todd get the grinder out Beckel talking baloney again time to make some sandwich spread out of his lies…

  • Sue Lynn

Remember these are great paying union jobs….

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    Hey Beckel…DETEN-SHUN!! XD Jawamax 8<{D}

  • capisce

Beckel was reiterating POTUS’s purposefully misleading claim:
setting the stage (?) for turning down the “phony” pipeline with it’s “phony” jobs to cave into pressure to prioritize the theoretical threat to the environment over the reality of making real gains in the economy and lessening our dependence on oil produced by nations in the most unstable regions of the world.
SOP – political win for Obama seems to always translate to lose-lose for working Americans.

  • irishgirl91

Just sent out a payment to my electric company for $400.00. Wow, I do love how “energy cost will necessarily skyrocket”. I can’t wait to see how expensive heating and cooling my 1800sqft house will be. If we had Keystone and other energy developing, I would lose my opportunity to pay my fair share. All I would have left would be my nearly 3k in property tax.

  • notenoughtime

    Love ya, Sarah!

  • disqus_eric

Don’t get Ms. Palin started on domestic oil production statistics. She will pound you into the ground EVERY time.

  • ejochs

All building jobs are temporary. Eventually, you complete what you are in the process of building.

    • helioquois

That is true. But just as a completed airliner needs recurring maintenance and sustainment work to assure long term air-worthiness, as well as improvements in operations and safety for maximum effectiveness and efficiency, there are long term job requirements on any pipeline project that must be met to assure intended success.

Mr. Beckel’s assertion is fallacious, and shows a decided lack of knowledge of how things get built, how they operate, and how they are sustained for the intended life cycle of any enterprise. He states these things when examples to the contrary of his pronouncements abound in America.

Our problem is that our incurious President holds this same premise with regard to the Keystone pipeline, so he fails to take action that is obviously in the best interests of the United States and its citizens.

    • sharinite

Yeah, but there it maintaining the pipelines, the surrounding country and people do this not elk.

  • RockThisTown

Sarah – you’re the best. Facts are poison to liberals. Keep in mind that Beckel was Walter Mondale’s campaign chief in 1984 when Mondale carried a whopping one (yes, one!) state (Mondale’s home state of MN) against Reagan. If there’s any bigger campaign management failure in recent history, I’m not aware of it. The man is a doofus, an Obama sycophant, a wacko liberal.

  • CarmichaelPatriot

Don’t fault ol’ Bob. If he had applied some common sense and intelligence, he might have gotten the right number in the first place, but he just don’t posses those abilities.

The problem with normal people is they don’t understand one basic truism about Democrats: They do not belive in playing by the rules they set for others. They would rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth……If we want to beat them, we must first marginalize them and make fun of them when they scream “racist, bigot, homophobe”….we must treat them like children.

  • Albert Barnett

One unknown fact about the un-built keystone pipeline. Currently much of the oil is still getting to the lower 48 from the Canadian oil fields. It’s being transported by train tank car, and who owns the train line, friend of Obama and Obama supporter Warren Buffet. Warren Buffet is making his next fortune transporting oil from Canada.

  • DebsFriends

I just wonder if the governor is going to run for the Senate. I think she could win.

  • $812925

According to Alyeska Pipeline’s website, they employ “about 811…”. This is far from the thousands that Sarah claims, though certainly higher than 100. What would be interesting to hear is the COMPLETE context of Beckel’s comments. As usual, the “media” cut him off mid-sentence for the purpose of this article, so we really don’t know what he was saying. Alyeska’s site does not say if the 811 are permanent employees, so Beckel may not be far off. We’ll never know, because in typical “FOX” fashion, and PALIN fashion, Beckel’s comments were taken out of context.

    • sharinite

Beckel is slime….is only 811 people employed who does all the work…check out the facts and you’ll see that idiots like fat slob

Beckel lie, cheat and steal every chance they get….don’t know
