Chuck Todd grows weary of whiny ‘phony media bias outrage’

We think NBC’s Chuck Todd doth protest too much. It was a simple enough question: is San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, who today announced he’d be entering a two-week rehab program to address his intimidating behavior and “failure to respect women,” a Democrat or a Republican? We’re pretty sure he’s a Democrat, but all we’ve heard about for months and months is the “GOP’s war on women,” so we thought we’d better check.

As Ace pointed out so well yesterday, the Filner sexual harassment story had a certain Gosnell-like quality to it. If three accusers coming forward wasn’t enough to elevate it above a “local crime story,” how about seven?

Don’t play the victim — only liberals get to do that.

Is expressing genuine outrage something only liberals get to do, too?

  • Steven A

Mayor Filner (D) sexually harasses women for years = “Act of a lone pervert.”

Sen. Candidate Akin (R) makes comment about rape = “OMG GOP!”

    • AaronHarrisinAlaska

Just remember. When Akin made his comment almost the entire GOP came out against him. When a democrat made just as obscene a suggestion about defending ones self from rape (pissing and puking) almost the entire DNC came out to his defense.

      • Michael Hampton

Those actually are defenses against rape. They are ways to get the man or woman attacking you to stop.

Saying that a woman’s body can just “shut down” it’s reproductive system is not only ridiculous. It shows that he knows nothing about how the reproductive system works. It shows a complete lack of intellect. See? Different.

And not all republicans denounced Akin. He was still getting money from the republican party.

        • Ben Bollman

What a maroon. I’d like to see you defend yourself by puking on your attacker. Stupid. As. Hell.

          • rennyangel2

Cretinous maroon. M. Hampton, not you, Ben.

        • Steven A

My point was less about valid opinions on a woman’s reproductive system IRT being raped. My point was that somehow Democrat politicians keep getting caught engaging in illicit, unethical and/or downright dirty sexual behavior and keep yet the party as a whole is somehow separate from their activity, but Akin’s statement was blown into representing the entirety of the GOP in the media, really starting the #waronwomen that led to other really moronic things like #binders.

          • Michael Hampton

Here is why that happens. Because democrats don’t portray themselves as morally superior. Republicans tend to portray themselves as moral warriors for Christ. Democrats do not. That is why it is more satisfying and full of schadenfraude whenever a republican is caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

          • v1cious

Probably because there’s a repeated pattern of Conservatives making comments about rape? Hell Richard Mourdoch made a similar stupid statement not even months after that Akin incident.

          • Steven A

So wait, just so we’re clear, you’re saying that conservatives/the GOP are declaring a war on women because of occasional medically unsound opinions as per rape and the female reproductive cycle.

But the left isn’t, even while they’re functioning as enablers of sexual deviancy in the form of Anthony Weiner, Bob Filner, and Bill Clinton.

            This makes no sense.

          • v1cious

I’m sorry, I didn’t know sex scandals affect legislation. The “War on Women” meme comes from the constant efforts of GOP congressman to take away women’s right to make their own decisions. I fail to see what someone’s personal life has to do with trying to get rid of Planned Parenthood and redefining the definition of rape.

          • IMPEACH_BOBO

How right you are too, FLEEBAGGING LlBT@RDS think rules only apply to the other guys !!!! Chuck Todd is just another FLEEBAGGER who pushes in President BOBO’s stool, his bias sticks out like a sore thumb !!!!

        • tjp77

          You’re lying.

Akin was completely cut off by the Republican party almost immediately after he made those comments. He didn’t get a single dime from them, and was in fact under pressure by party leadership to drop out of the race altogether, which he ignored.

Has the DNC cut off any of their philanderers and harassers? Nope.

          • 3seven77

No. The very worst of the dem perverts end up being in the senate for life (Ted Kennedy) or in the White House (Bill “Cigar” Clinton).

          • aztectrumpet

Is Clinton really one of their worst?

          • Michael Hampton

“The cash isn’t going directly to the embattled candidate, however. It is
being funneled through the state Republican Party for a $700,000 ad
campaign jointly funded by Akin and the state party operation. The state
party’s federal campaign account only had about $375,000 in the bank
two weeks ago to fund all its operations, which means it requires
outside assistance to pay for the advertising.”

            Who is lying?

          • Ben Bollman

            Who is your source?

          • tjp77

I like how you didn’t provide a link to that quote. I guess we should all just take your word that it comes from a reliable and unbiased source.

The FACT is that Akin was publicly repudiated by GOP leadership at all levels, and had his funding cut off by the national party. The party sacrificed his seat — which he was winning — by cutting off his support. Akin continued to campaign, but was doomed without backing from the RNC, both rhetorically and financially.

Has the DNC publicly repudiated and cut off any of their philandering and harassing candidates? No, they have not.

          • Michael Hampton

Whatever source I cite you will find fault with. Google it yourself. Your computer gets Google, doesn’t it?

        • wwbdinct

Considering that you’re not a woman, you’re really not the expert on what does and doesn’t work.

          • Damien Johnson

          • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Not to mention he’s gay… so that doesn’t work either.

          • Michael Hampton

            Men do get raped.

          • v1cious

Neither Is Todd Akin. Your point?

        • Ben Bollman

For anyone wondering what Mr. Hampton had to say before bravely deleting his comment, he informed me that I would be raped if I did not puke on my attacker. Yes, he implied that my only defense against my attackers is using bodily functions that would literally do nothing to stop an attack instead of a gun. Again I state: what a maroon.

          • wwbdinct

Ha ha! Thanks Ben. These lefty “men” crack me up. I wonder if they have any so-called studies to back up their claims that vomiting on a potential rapist will actually stop the rape. I mean – that’s about as crazy as saying that a woman’s reproductive system shuts down during a rape……

          • Ben Bollman

I wonder the same thing. I think even if you are anti-gun saying that puking on your attacker is acceptable self-defense is pretty damn irresponsible. I can’t even remember the university/liberal douchebag that originally said it but they should probably be sued.

          • AaronHarrisinAlaska

When some one has their fist raised to punch your teeth in, try vomiting or whipping it out and peeing on them, see if the fist dosnt fly.

          • Ty in TX

You know what the problem with the whole vomit defense is? That just might anger the attacker even more. Instead of mugging/rapping you, if after you vomited on them, they may go truly apes#it on you and just beat you to death for vomiting on them to begin with.

Get a gun, no unnecessary urinations, regurgitations, or defecations needed. Granted you might get the Zimmerman treatment if the wrong color and if a local politician doesn’t understand how one can weaponize the sidewalk, but at least you’d be alive and unmolested.

          • Michael Hampton

That is not what I said. And I didn’t delete my comment.

          • Ben Bollman

            uh huh

        • lainer51

rather have someone make a “ridiculous” statement, than some Bubba wanna-be groping and feeling. See? Different

          • Michael Hampton

That is where we disagree. See, that wasn’t just a ridiculous statement. it was a statement of intent. It meant that he intended to use his religious beliefs to restrict my legal behavior.

        • waterytart

If it’s the bodily function defense during rape you’re promoting, I can guarantee you ONE of us will sh!t his pants when I pull out my .38.

        • AaronHarrisinAlaska

Wrong on both counts and succeeding only on validating my point.

Intentionally expelling bodily fluids will serve more to anger your attacker than deter them.

Akin was all but cut off from the Republican Party. The only funding he was getting after his comments was from private donors, the party and organized donations dried up with in moments of his comment going over the air.

        • PatriotRG

really ? is that your argument ? pissing and puking are defenses against rape and physical assault ? So along with karate , taikwondo, boxing we should have the pissing and puking art of self defense ? you utter f*wit

        • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

I suppose you’re the expert in female physiology? HARDLY!!! LOL!!!

        • KansasGirl

But the media attacked until target was destroyed.

        • StatEco

There were studies related to what Akin said. It may not be true, but

“It shows a complete lack of intellect.” You just proved yourself so.

    • GaryTheBrave

You win Twitchy for the day. ^this

    • Michael Hampton

Not what you said when Cain was accused of the exact same things. Even worse. And yet, at the time, he was a victim of the media. Please.

      • Ben Bollman

Not one allegation against Cain was proven, not one.

        • Michael Hampton

Not true. We just stopped hearing about it.

          • Ben Bollman

          • wwbdinct

You just stopped hearing about it when he dropped out of the race. Mission accomplished with the help of Gloria Allred, the phony grievance monger.

          • Michael Hampton

That is exactly what I said. Thanks for proving my point.

          • rennyangel2

Is someone paying you to make these worthless statements?

          • Ben Bollman

            Your silence is deafening.

      • AaronHarrisinAlaska

The allegations ceased the moment he dropped from the race. Leading reasonable minds to conclude it was a farce at best and an out right DNC attack strategy at worst. But who could blame them? Cain stood a tremendous e chance of pummeling Obama had he been given the GOP ticket. Not only that, but if republicans succeeded in putting a black man in the White House it would completely destroy the DNC race platform for at least a generation. They stood shit tons to lose.

    • Damien Johnson

Yeah that’s just… if the left doesn’t make a much bigger deal about the former than they did about the latter, they’re super dense hypocrites. Well, they already are but you know what I mean.

I mean come on, one person says something stupid about rape and “OMG WAR ON WOMEN. WOMEN NOT SAFE, NOT SAFE!”

    • BayushiZero

      Shamelessly stealing that.

    • NealK

OMG GOP makes some great games. Draw Something is fun!

  • stdog

    Bootlicking obsequious sycophant.

    • blockthiscnn

I must find an opportunity to use ‘obsequious’; thank you.

  • ObamaFail

Chuck Todd is an idiot. He expects us to believe that he isn’t one of the most biased “journalists” on television. That one guy had it right. If a Republican does something bad, we hear his party affiliation on the liberal news. But a Democrat is never labeled a Democrat.

    • Billie Slash

Yes. And I kid you not, Gary, I actually saw F. Chuck tell his viewers what the “soup of the day” at the White House was. No sh*t. Talk about a sick-o-fant!!!

    • Michael Hampton

And Hannity isn’t biased? Beck or Limbaugh aren’t biased? Please.

      • CatHerder

        Yes, they’re biased toward truth.

      • Republicanvet

Not one of them claim to be an unbiased journOlist.
Your butt really hurts over this doesn’t it.

      • AaronHarrisinAlaska

They’re biased, the diffrence is they don’t pretend they aren’t.

        • Michael Hampton

And that is exactly why republicans are more tarnished by these scandals. It’s because they pretend to be saints.

          • AaronHarrisinAlaska

No, I just told you they don’t pretend they aren’t. And they don’t. Most of what you’ve said in this section so far has either been idiotic, irrational, irrelevant,
And now with this post; ignorance.

  • Clete Torres

    F Chuck Todd.

  • americandavey

So “phony” is the new Lib talking point for the year.

  • Steve_J

I’m getting tired of Todd’s’ whining about whining.

    • CDUB

I agree. 12-19 people watch his network and him, why is anything he says even reported on? No one cares about F Chuck Todd……..

Tim Russert (RIP) was one of, if not the best journo ever to grace the airwaves, at NBC. Although Tim was a lefty, he was fair/tough. Do they not see the decline in their ratings since he passed and everything/anything NBC has gone hard left and NBC (nobody cares)

F Chuck Todd/ David Gregory…. for reals?? Who is supposed to trust them?

  • TocksNedlog

Once again, Chuck is phonying it in.

  • tjp77

Liberal men walk all over the women in the lives, both professionally and personally and the media looks the other way.

Conservative men who are faithful to their wives and families but make an ill-advised comment during a speech or on live television, and it gets officially branded THE REPUBLICAN WAR ON WOMEN and goes wall-to-wall on every media outlet for three months straight.

    • Billie Slash

Yep. If a person’s not an opportunistic, lying, whore-monger, then Chris Matthews can’t stand you (ala The Kennedys).

    • Michael Hampton

Can you show me one instance of a democrat being publicly praised for having an affair? I will wait.

Republicans praised the remarks from those morons. And gave them more money.

      • tjp77

Did I say that they’re praised? No, I did not. But they get very sympathetic treatment in the media, their party at large isn’t brought into the discussion and the story goes away very rapidly.

Pretty much the opposite of what happens when a Republican makes even a slightly offensive comment, much less has full-on sexual harassment claims brought against them.

        • Michael Hampton

Funny. We don’t hear about Herman Cain and his wayward hands anymore, do we? So what was that again?

          • tjp77

Herman Cain does not hold any office and has largely disappeared from the public outside of occasional appearances on the lecture circuit thanks to his scandal.

His story was woven into the hysterical ‘OMG REPUBLICAN WAR ON WOMEN’ narrative during the last election, and was forced to step aside.

And yet we have to DIG to even find a story that mentions the party affiliation of liberal men who commit horrible acts against women, with few if any calls for resignation or any connection to their party at large whatsoever from the left or their media allies.

            Yeah, no double standard there.

          • Republicanvet

Why is that? The left acted like whatever he did was the most heinous act ever.
As for praising leftist perverts, they praise them by re-electing them like Bubba the rapist.

          • Jim Denney

We don’t hear from his accusers either … why no civil suits? BTW, was it just a coincidence those women were from Chicago, and at least one was a former neighbor of Axelrod?

        • Ronald Green

Actually there was considerable nudge, nudge.. wink, wink going on with the press over Monica and Bill. And never a word about J. Kennedy, but hey… that was a different era. And let’s not forget Edwards either.

          • AaronHarrisinAlaska

Not until Drudge broke the story though. The media knew something was up but no one touched it till the DR said Ef it and cracked open that can of warms.

      • Joel Mackey

bill clinton was praised by several hollywood pundits, Chris Rock to name one.

        • Michael Hampton

Please. A comedian is not the same a s a politician. They are different. See?

          • Joel Mackey

i did what you asked, i cant help if your an idiot. Idiots like you are what is wrong with this country, the politicians are but a symptom.

“Can you show me one instance of a democrat being publicly praised for having an affair? I will wait.”

      • wwbdinct

You’re lying Michael. Most democrat females are near orgasm anytime they lay eyes on Bill Clinton. Please. I could go on and on but you’re such a useless tool there’s no point.

      • 3seven77

Not speaking out or demanding that someone resign is condoning the behavior. I certainly remember Bill Clinton being referred to as “Teflon” during the Monica Lewinsky affair.

      • blockthiscnn

      • fireandreamitchell

Pick ’em. Either BJ Clinton or one of the Kennedys.

  • Michael Hampton

So Filner deserves scorn and derision but Herman Cain was a poor victim of the media scrutiny. Hypocrites.

    • CatHerder

He currently holds no elected office, correct? What would you have us do, set the slave-hounds on him?

    • AaronHarrisinAlaska

Due to the fact that any and all coverage of the scandal ceased after he dropped out, with not even so much as a follow up on whether or not there were civil suites like Alred said there would be, it’s a safe assumption.

Aside from that, what public office does Cain hold right now?

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

You’re truly stupid. I feel sorry for you.

      • Michael Hampton

You call me names like a child and I am the one who is stupid? Sure. Whatever you say.

Chuck like the rest of the liberal media is about two weeks to late in partially reporting this news as well. Only when their hand is forced do they report on their own and even then it’s with as little information as possible. Pelosi and other Dems were aware of this guys misdeeds and they still funded his campaign for mayor; why?

  • Republicanvet

Hey F Chuck, how long did it take before you reported on John Edwards? How did it feel getting scooped by the Enquirer?
