Jake Tapper trounces Rolling Stone defenders; Offers poignant idea for a cover [pic]

CNN’s Jake Tapper offered up that poignant suggestion for a better cover than Rolling Stone’s much-derided, and rightly so, cover featuring a glam shot of the Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Even sadder? He received push-back from Rolling Stone defenders. But, no worries: Tapper is up to the task of troll-trouncing.

Wait, what?

Country star Dierks Bentley isn’t. He is protesting in an, umm, more anatomical way.

Careful, Jake! You might be accused of bitterly clinging to freedom.

Like Brit Hume said when troll-trouncing as only he can, “look before you tweet.”

That he did. And shame on him.

Kudos to Tapper for standing up for common decency.

I like this one, but the meme is a tad dated.

  • tops116

Oh, they can’t use that cover. It’s actually appropriate.

  • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Everything needs a ‘conversation’, the Zimmerman trial, gun control, immigration, now this. Screw that, there is right and wrong so what is there to talk about?

    • Kevin Scott

“Conversation” is shorthand for “Let’s talk about how evil white people (rich white men in particular) are.”

    • BlahBlah

It has become such a tired word and I’m so sick of it I don’t even wanna use it anymore because it brings up mental images such as the Wookie wagging her finger and demanding a “conversation” about obesity or Holder a “conversation” about race.

What “conversation” are we talking about here when not only you want to shut up anyone that disagrees, you’re gonna hunt them down and make their lives miserable or worse.

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Exactly, they don’t want a ‘conversation’. They want to berate you with their point of view and tell you that yours is evil along with name-calling and death threats.

  • Richard Jefferies

I’m so tired of the censorship cries. These idiots continue to demonstrate how ignorant of the Constitution they are. It isn’t censorship unless it is done by a government, particularly the Federal government. I’m sure the same people would support a boycott of Florida because of the Zimmerman verdict.

    • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Yeah, where were the cries of ‘free speech’ and ‘censorship’ during the Sandra Fluke ordeal when advertisers were knee-jerk leaving Rush? Tit for tat my friends.

    • Texan357

“I’m so tired of the censorship cries.”

I’d lke to see that guy’s answer. I think these people actually think “censorship” means “disagreeing with what I say.”
“It isn’t censorship unless it is done by a government”

That’s not true, though I would say that government entities as a group are certainly the #1 censor.

Regardless, there is no “censorship” going on here. Boycotts are a form of free speech.

  • Texan357

    “Phony outrage nonstory.”

Talk about projection. IMO, phony has to be partisan, and Rolling Stone, of all things, has united Americans from across the political spectrum! This is bipartisan disgust. Phony? [sigh]

    • BlahBlah

“Phony outrage nonstory.” – is this about Paula Deen? Oh wait that was an important story.

      • nc

Yes! The Deen Standard. Use selectively.

Say, remember when one of the NY rags ran a satirical picture of Obama dressed like a terrorist fist bumping Michelle while our flag was burning in the background, and the all the usual suspects decried it as insensitive?

That, for what it’s worth, was a satirical commentary. This RS cover isn’t.

“Rolling Stone” revealed itself to be a magazine for pussies.

The intellectual immaturity of Rolling Stone and it’s readership is unrivaled.

    Boycotting Chik-fil-a = American, good.
    Boycotting RS = unAmerican, bad.

Funny, the article was about the bomber. How does changing the title and the photo apply? File this under “idiotic”.
