Reports: KCAL 9 reporters injured at Trayvon Martin riot in Crenshaw; Oakland media attacked again

The late-night mayhem in Los Angeles just took another turn for the worse. As Twitchy reported, the LAPD declared a citywide tactical alert after pro-Trayvon Martin protesters stormed a Walmart in South Central Los Angeles.

Now, the thugs are attacking local media.

A KCAL staffer tweeted:

The Anonymous goons rejoice:

Same old, same old.

Meanwhile in Oakland, local journalists are reporting attacks against them for a second night in a row.

Update: According to a colleague, reporter Dave Bryan and the photographer are going to be OK.

I live in the heart of LA, it’s 1136pm….2 miles away from crenshaw blvd nothing remotely happening where I’m at and I usually always here police sirens or the ghetto bird, quiet as a church mouse tonight… it’s one block acting up, not the whole city, nothing like the Riots in the early 90s, Twitchy stop making this something that it’s not.

    • Dragomance

You kidding? This whole thing started a year ago by making this into something it’s not.Zimmerman was inaccurately turned into this racist boogeyman who attacked a child.

Also,it’s hardly one street since riots have a tendency to migrate. On top of that, when thugs are attacking people then it’s quite understandable that the police would come, sirens blaring.

Stop pretending that you live near there or if you do,stop defending these thugs.

      • Love of Country

Why can’t cowardly GOP guests on MSNBC ask a host if white people should riot in the streets every time a white person is killed by a black man even if it means white people get to riot in the streets 25 to 30x as often as black people or would that then make rioting racist?

Also … since young black men comprise 3% of the population but commit over 40% of the homicides …. why is it racist for people to be afraid of young black men (the ones who support owebamao) they don’t know …. particularly at night or when they’re in numbers?

Are we racist to be extra cautious or afraid of unfamiliar pit bulls on the street but not the golden lab? No, that’s called common sense, is it not? Reputations are earned.

Read at least one section of the PPACA (aka Obamacare), it is CAPITALISM 2.0! No trace of Marxist economics whatsoever. FYI, Marxism is based solely on the goal of social justice, so you have contradicted yourself pretty miserably.

If you wish to sound educated, then stop being lazy and become educated. Getting information in increments from media outlets with billion dollar agendas is not an education.

        • I.M. P. Incorrect

Wow, your “golden lab” comment just nullified your whole comment.

There are more reported dog bites from labs than most other breeds. The approximate yearly average:

Labs accounted for 13.3 percent of the reported bites; pit bulls, 8.4 percent; German shepherds, 7.8 percent; Rottweilers, 3.9 percent; and Chows, 3.5 percent.

This information is readily available on the internet, as is the information you posted. So in your argument you are stating not to judge a book by it’s cover, but by the statistics, though when it came to your example you judge by the cover and not the statistic.

While I don’t disagree with judging by statistic, your post could have been better thought out.

          • Love of Country

When I said ‘golden lab’ …. I was personally referencing long-haired golden labrador retrievers ….. or ‘golden labs’ for short.

But if you want to make the case they’re more dangerous than pit bulls then be my jest.

I stand by my comment ….. as far as analogies go …. it was spot-on!

          • I.M. P. Incorrect

Well, see, therein is the problem. I am not trying to make any case. It is a fact that, statistically, that labs are reported as biting more people than any other breed of dog. This is on account of dog bites reported and recorded yearly.

Statistically, if you want to follow statistics for safety, you would and should still be careful around Labradors, but you are willing to push statistics aside due to personal experience and belief.

Not to compare people to dogs but, for the sake of this particular argument (dogs), you are doing the exact same thing regarding the dog comparison, that other people do regarding young black men who statistically have a higher crime rate.

Just as you are asking why people wouldn’t fear a group of people due to statistics, or if you should be considered racist, and can’t fathom “why” other folks wouldn’t be precocious, I am asking why you wouldn’t fear a certain type of dog, due to statistics.

The same argument you have for trusting that breed, is probably the same reason why others feel the way they do about young black men, there has been no bad experience, on your part, with them.

Does that make sense? Again, I’m not disagreeing with your statistics point, I’m just clarifying and trying to make understandable using what you wrote for comparison on statistics vs peoples actual feelings and actions/inaction in dealing with situations using common sense.

Also, lets keep in mind, for the sake of argument, that while labradors and retrievers are very similar, they are actually different breeds. Golden has longer hair. Lab has short hair and webbed feet for swimming. For the sake of comparison, this would be like comparing a Scotsman and a Welshman. Very similar, but still distinctively different, and one wouldn’t like being called by the other.

This I know from personal experience.

In the end, I agree with you when it comes down to using common sense and wouldn’t call it racist for someone to be careful around a certain type of people who they have had a bad experience with. In the same sense though, I also would not judge you for not taking care around what is, statistically, the breed of dog with the most bite cases reported yearly because we may have not have had the same experience and you feel that statistic (regardless of how factual it is) doesn’t mean anything.

          • Ron

Certain large breeds are notably under-represented in bite statistics such as large hounds and retrievers (e.g., Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers) —although even these breeds may have known aggressive subtypes.

We can always find statistics to support our outlook or agenda. This is what the media is accused of doing constantly. It inflames racial tensions when it occurs. Your use of a “statistic” showing that Labs are more aggressive than Pit Bulls is a good example. Most studies don’t support that contention…yet, you found one somewhere and used it to make your point. This is part of the problem…not part of a solution. The guys post you responded to was accurate according to most studies, and represents a good/accurate analogy.

          • LMW51

In the 8-year period from 2005 to 2012, two dog breeds accounted for 73% of the attacks that resulted in death: pit bulls and rottweilers.

2012 Dog Bite Fatalities by, 2013

          • Ron

Of the 88 fatal dog attacks recorded by, pit bull type dogs were responsible for 59% (52). This is equivalent to a pit bull killing a U.S. citizen every 21 days during this 3-year period.
The data also shows that pit bulls commit the vast majority of off-property attacks that result in death. Only 18% (16) of the attacks occurred off owner property, yet pit bulls were responsible for 81% (13).
It is a valid point overall.

          • TugboatPhil

Most pit bull bites aren’t reported as such because it’s usually criminals on the receiving end.

          • Ron

Also, dogs predominantly of chihuahua, golden retriever, labrador retriever, poodle, Scottish terrier, and Shetland sheepdog breeds were more common among nonbiting than among the biting dogs.

          • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

            I think your statistic is wrong. I have bites on each of my legs from a German Sheperd from Three Years Ago! When I was three, another one bit off part of my ear. And, I’ve found that (Properly (?) trained) Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Sheperds and Pitt Bulls can be more vicious than their Labrador Retriever counterparts. I ought to know, my father used to train dogs, and I’m an “Old-School Pet nut,” Jawamax 8<{D}

          • I.M. P. Incorrect

I get you, but this actually proves what I was trying to say. Basically “Statistics be damned, I have my own experience and will believe/react due to my own experience and not what statistics say.” You know?

          • Caves45

Isn’t it all in the numbers ? The more labs than any other dog , the more that breed will have reported bits . That makes the most sense right ?

          • B-rad

Yes, because the internet is so truthful and accurate!

          • Steve Thomson

Here’;s what you’re leaving out of your “numbers”:

            1. What is the severity of the bite in labs vs pit bulls?
            2. How many more labs are there than pit bulls?

Once you consider these two factors it will take the punch out of your statement.

I don’t think you get how Twitchy works—-they accumulate tweets, not make news.

Besides, if you’re trying to convince anyone that all the demonstrators are peaceful, you’re too late because we’ve already seen it all over the news.

The fact that you live in the “heart of LA” does not give you any kind of credibility when we have visual evidence of what is going on.

    • mike_in_kosovo

Twitchy stop making this something that it’s not.

So, Twitchy made the LAPD declare a city-wide alert?

  • Michelle

While I’m never happy to hear someone was attacked, a part of me is having a hard time feeling bad about this. The media created this storm going all the way back to when Trayvon was killed. The media CREATED the racial aspect to this situation when there wasn’t one to begin with. They wanted this – it’s what they hoped for all along. And now, they got it (albeit on a very small scale compared to 1992). The animals are attacking the media? Karma is a bitch.

    • nc

It’s may be small scale now, Michelle, but it seems to be growing like a wildfire, and do you get any sense of containment? I don’t. This could get very big in the next few days, but I pray it gets stopped quickly. I fear people will get hurt and possibly die.

      • Love of Country

Reid, Pelosi, Owebamao, Clinton, Soros and many others are beaming with pride. And under their breath, you can still hear them say … “These people are united as one and mad enough to go to the polls next year …. who says we don’t love black people?”

        • nc

          You nailed it again.

        • TugboatPhil

Exactly. A leader would take to the airwaves to calm the situation. Sadly, we have Barry.

        • Michelle

Democratic politicians absolutely need black people to remain convinced they are powerless victims, and that the big bad wolf (white people anything but Democrat) will lock them up in chains and kill them all. It’s the only way the Democratic party can survive – brainwashing people into thinking no one else cares about them and the shocking reality is, it’s Democrats who keep them poor, angry and helpless.

          • john brothers

      • Michelle

They seem to get going in the evening and I do suspect it will continue for the next few nights. As I look at the photos of the rioters, it’s clear to me most of them are very young and either were not born yet or were still crapping in their diapers in 1992 when hell broke lose here. LA is ready for it this time and I suspect (sincerely hope) the parents and elders of these thugs we’re now watching, explain to these little darlings how badly things went for them when they did this is 1992. Destroyed their own neighborhood and most of those who lost their lives were their own people.

      • Craig Jacobs

Keep Calm and Carry a Glock

    • Love of Country

And folks call me what you will … but I hope that if some white people have to perish in the coming race wars that it’s the families of white Democrats who are killed first …. you know …. the ones who have been demonizing white men in the media and emboldening black people to riot whenever they don’t get their way.

If anyone thinks that makes me a bad person I’d love to hear why.

    • objectivefactsmatter

Don’t fall in to the trap of the collectivist. The people being attacked are not the ones that decide what to report.

      • Michelle

They may not decide what to report, but their bosses sure love sending them into the thick of it to get The Story. And the reporters love stirring up the drama with the tone in which they report. Don Henley’s song comes to mind – “(They) can tell you about a plane crash with a gleam in (their) eye. It’s interesting when people die. They love dirty laundry.” The media collectively, as a whole, got the fires burning on this by making it a racial issue, including KCAL9 news (one of my local station), promise ya they didn’t report the whole Zimmerman situation without bias.

        • objectivefactsmatter

I hear you. Just saying I don’t think they’re at the root of the problem. They’re naive dupes.

It’s management that sits back and plans all of this chaos-inspiring coverage.

          • Michelle

It is because they are naive dupes that they are at the very root of the problem.

    • Joe W.

Like the spreading wildfires famous in California, this behavior is only beginning. The riots will increase in number and in intensity. And you can bet that when white people respond with bullets, it will be “Katy, bar the door”….Obama’s goal will have been achieved, and he can then impose martial law, confiscate our guns and complete the task of enslaving the American People. Just sit back and watch.

    • Damien Johnson

I’d say it’s not the local reporters fault, it’s the fault of the shows that are national and the people that run them.

      • Michelle

This particular reporter, Dave Bryan, was one of the ones who covered the Rodney King trial of the officers, he was part of the narrative the media created leading the public to believe the officers would absolutely be found guilty – never reporting on all the evidence in a non-bias fashion. Mr. Bryan, along with every other reporter in LA gave their daily commentary with the tone of, “Well, of COURSE the officers are going to be found guilty!” and that played a huge part in the riots when they weren’t found guilty.

  • thetawake

I’d have an LAPD helicopter drop flyers that say ‘MANDATORY CURFEW IN EFFECT
I’m not saying any of that should actually happen. Maybe have a couple of Blackhawks fly over for effect, but anyone whose mind is so enslaved that they really believe the death of Trayvon Martin meant something to them just because the media told them it was so important, will believe just about anything.

    • JamestheFin

That assumes that the people whom you are dropping flyers on can actually read.

English or Spanish it matters not when half the population is functionally illiterate. Remember, these are the products of California Teachers Unions…Just saying…

    • Chris Bogh

      Most of them can’t read

    • Michelle

It kinda came close to your scenario back in 1992. We had a mandatory curfew sundown to sunrise, the National Guard patrolled our streets (eerie sight) and NG snipers were on the rooftops of major businesses in my area. It eventually worked, but they did it too late and after control had been lost – granted, the extent of that riot kind of took us all by surprise.

  • Brad Donald

This is what justice for Trayvone looks like for the left apparently.

  • neoface

In the next riot, someone should just tweet in a bomb threat, I’m certain most if not all the cowards will disperse. Most of these people couldn’t give a rats behind about Trayvon, just using this opportunity to practice their anti – social behavior.

  • radjahshelduck

Meanwhile, the protestors here in Atlanta have been mostly orderly. Remember, our mayor, Kasim Reed, was one of the only big city mayors to have the cops remove the Occupy Wall Street protestors, thereby saving taxpayers the cost of the damages caused by the OWS crowd in other cities. Funny how when you have a town where it is made clear that you will be arrested if you break the law you have a lot fewer problems than in Oakland and L.A.

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      If the police in Atlanta need any help… Call Kennesaw, right up the road… Jawamax 8<{D}

      • Thale Taxurfeet

Kennesaw is a small city in Cobb county. IIRC the population is somewhere about 30k.

I hope the people in Atlanta behave and show better sense than the Oakland idiots rioting, but if TSHTF, containing the violence in Hotlanta would be imminently doable, and done real quick just by the local LEO’s in Fulton and surrounding counties. If necessary, the local National Guard units, recently battle tested, would be called up. Then there’s the Fort Benning folks, just a quick hop from Atl.

Adding another layer to the mix, I think there are around 750k veterans of military service residing
in Georgia. Again from memory, I believe there are about 400k firearms license holders and 345k licensed hunters in the state.

We’re flush in Georgia, so sans a zombie apocalypse, I see no need for the good old boys/Veterans/outdoor sportsmen to muster on station.

After living in California, and a couple of the Megalopolis on the east coast, along with a multitude of other lesser population centers, I can say with all confidence, Green Acres is the place to be.

We need Occupy Oakland vs Trayvon Mob and see what the outcome will be.

    • Ken Alan Draper

it’s the same mob, they come out of the woodwork whenever the opportunity presents itself. any excuse to riot & these turds come out. nothing that couldn’t be cured by the judicious use of some .223 & teargas, but the city of oakland refuses to protect it’s citizen’s from these animals.

      • John Bibb

Which is why gun and ammo sales have been going gangbusters since Comrade Obama (PBUH!) and His Regime–aided and abetted by the American Pravda Media–have been in control.
The standown of the police and the failure of the Kalifornia governor to call out the National Guard during the Watts and Rodney King riots made it pretty clear that if big civil disorder hits they will look the other way and hope things get better. No need to further inflame the “yutes” as they rape, rob, loot, and kill.
You’re on your own if it happens. Forewarned–and forearmed–may save your life, And that of your family. Don’t count on the Gubmint or the police.

It’s become obvious that justice is not what the black community wanted. As soon CNN posted the picture of “poor innocent” Trayvon when he was 14 and declared a ‘white man’ killed him, it immediately became about revenge. We didn’t need a trial. The only thing that would have made the black racists happy is if we had lynched Zimmerman. The riots and revenge attacks on Hispanics and Whites around the country are escalating and all we get from Barry is ‘more gun control’.

suspicious. He followed him to keep a eye on him till Police arrived.
Yes he was told to get back in his vehicle. But he is the one on watch

And because witnesses said they heard him telling Zimmerman as he
was beating him. Just like witnesses saw Travon on top of him slamming
his head in to the concrete.

((( NOW if one of those witnesses would have gotten involved to pull Trayvon off of Zimmerman , when Zimmerman
TODAY ))) but no one came to help him when he was screaming for help,
so zimmerman used a deadly weapon as self defense.

Its Legal and Its the Law. People both of these people had some FAULT HERE… stop blaming just one side.

When will people learn that if you come at someone, especially
someone with a gun and you are AGGRESSIVE…. Police / or civilian your
going to get shot, because you are being AGGRESSIVE AND POSSIBLY DEADLY.
You tired of your people / any people getting killed ….TEACH THEM

  • TDS

We will protest the idea that Trayvon Martin could have violently attacked George Zimmerman…
    …by violently attacking people!!!
    Hooray for hypocrisy!

  • souphands

What exactly is the purpose of your obsession with these stories?

  • Stan

These ” Journalist and Crew” should have worn their Obama-Biden tea shirts or “I am a Democrat” hat.

  • Heretic2011

Can we white people have a riot too. I need a new tv.

  • BeeKaaay

That’s right, idiots, hurt the propagandists who were making you look like heroes to the national consciousness.

    Stupid bloodthirsty leftwingwackos.

  • Terri Haswell

This has to STOP! What is wrong with these people?! And the media needs to GO HOME!! Why are they giving these people the fuel to continue destroying. and where is the national guard!!!! They better be glad they aren’t in my town, They would find out real quick what “right to bear arms” means!!

Twitchy Team didn’t say Anonymous was rejoicing, they said the “goons” are – read it again.

  • Stephen L. Hall

Lame excuse for Anonymous, you can not control a mob once it begins it takes on a life of it’s own. You are known by the company you keep. You can not define who is or is not a protester. If they want to not be associated with the people assaulting other people then they should turn them into the police.

  • Garth Haycock

It says Anonymous goons, which is rather vague.

  • Brad Donald

Yeah no sane person thinks they were implying THE ANONYMOUS with that. Only those that read into crap to create trouble do. So people like you.

  • Michelle

Not really when you look at the what they posted as an example, a reply to Anonymous’ tweet of that girl saying,”LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL” That’s the “rejoicing” part. Anonymous’ tweet, “LAPD requesting a Rescue Ambulance for KCAL9 news van that was attacked on Crenshaw.” is innocuous, a simple statement.

  • Stephen L. Hall

I didn’t say they were supporting them. Where do you come up with this malarkey. I said they are associated with them, are standing by them; they can not now disavow them unless they actively oppose them.

  • Stephen L. Hall

When many people supporting the protest are advocating violence, only a fool would act surprised that some of the protesters were violent. As I said before, you are known by the company you keep, and they are not keeping good company.

  • Garth Haycock

I really wasn’t saying that Anonymous was rejoicing, only that that particular tweet was rather vague. It’s my own fault that I didn’t make myself more clear.

  • Garth Haycock

Perhaps you inferred that, which I’ll admit is my fault as it’s apparent that I didn’t communicate more clearly what I was saying. However, if you were capable of critical thinking, you’d recognize that I said it was rather vague and nothing more. You read far too much into my comment.
