‘Act like a man’: #Brochoice blogger laments pro-life bill; Kirsten Powers, tweeters shred

What a novel idea.

Texas blogger Ben Sherman, who considers himself to be staunchly “bro-choice,” vomited up a post last week bemoaning the many horrible effects that the Texas abortion bill would have on straight men. Here’s the kicker:

Your sex life is at stake. Can you think of anything that kills the vibe faster than a woman fearing a back-alley abortion? Making abortion essentially inaccessible in Texas will add an anxiety to sex that will drastically undercut its joys. And don’t be surprised if casual sex outside of relationships becomes far more difficult to come by.

Because nothing says “I’m a man who cares deeply about women’s needs” like whining about not getting any.

Fox News contributor and pro-life advocate Kirsten Powers was rightly disgusted, and she took to Twitter to show pro-choice women what their warped brand of “feminism” hath wrought:

Pro-choice women, is this what empowerment looks like to you? Being objectified by men who claim to respect you?

Doesn’t it, though? These certainly aren’t the musings of a mature adult man.

Take note, pro-abortion feminists. This is what it means to be “bro-choice”:

Are you proud of yourself, Ben Sherman? Proud of the portrait you’re painting of women?

And of men?

Thank goodness for real men. Men like these:

Hear, hear.

    • trixiewoobeans

This exposes the Pro-Choice women as the needy, ingratiating to men, insecure women they really are. Rather than require a man to use responsible birth control if they want to be with you, they pander to them with freebies and zero responsibility, cause hey, competition is fierce when everybody’s givin’ it out. They’d rather murder their child than inconvenience or alienate any possible mates, present and future. Hey faux feminists, you can say “my body, my choice” all you want, but it’s STILL the ages-old “how to get and keep a man” going on, but now it’s gotten deadly.

  • The Penguin

You can be “brochoice”. Or you can be a “man” and own up to, and be responsible for your actions.

      • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Wilt Chamberlain, is that you? Sex isn’t meant to be enjoyed on a casual basis… the purpose of it is to procreate. Did you skip health class that day?

        • Bathing Suit Area

Sex CAN be had for procreation, but more often is for pleasure. Sorry if that offends you.

          • Damien Johnson

What is this “CAN” business? No, sex is for procreation first and foremost which is why it results in babies. Pleasure is second. You want all of the pleasure, none of the responsibility. GROW UP.

Sorry if the truth shatters your infantile delusions.

          • Bathing Suit Area

Where are you getting this “first and foremost” from? Sex always results in pleasure, and only sometimes in babies.

          • Damien Johnson

“First and foremost” refers to the purpose for sex. Sex may always (almost) result in pleasure, but the purpose of pleasure is second.

          • Bathing Suit Area

I know that’s your opinion, but I’m asking why you think that? You just keep restating it but not explaining or giving a source for your info.

It’s not something I “think”. It is fact.

          • Bathing Suit Area

And what is your source for this “fact”? By what scientific method did you ascertain this information?

          • Damien Johnson

Because the scientific fact is; Man + Woman = Baby. It’s been that way since before contraception messed with the perceptions of many. What’s your scientific fact that sex is not primarily for procreation?

          • Bathing Suit Area

Aside from the fact that most of the time, that’s not what people are doing it for?

“Can you think of anything that kills the vibe faster than a woman fearing a back-alley abortion?”
According to my daughter, it’s the sniveling from the men when the topic of ‘responsibility’ is raised. Her complaint is that most ‘men’ think that means 50% of the money for an abortion. Sheesh, so many panty-waists.

      • Stephen L. Hall

That’s an easy question to answer: 1) Men are told they have no say in matters like abortion; 2) Men are constantly told that they are irresponsible, childish, shallow and selfish; 3) Men are no longer the head of the household; 4) Men are denied their time and space to be alone; and 5) if this is not acceptable, divorce favors women over men; a) Women will get custody; b) she’ll get the house and move a new boyfriend into it; c) men will get the child support bill and d) men will be blamed for the relationship failure.
The real men ran for the hills years ago.

Men are also portrayed on TV and in movies as weak, inept, clueless, helpless and foolish, while women are the wise, strong decision and policy-makers of the family. It seems the husbands and fathers are just there to be mocked, pitied and ridiculed. I see no other purpose for them in these roles. It was insulting to women when it was done, back in the day, and now it’s insulting to men.

If the repercussions of having sex are so dire that he really really REALLY needs and wants the option there of being able to kill any resulting child in utero with no restrictions, perhaps it’s not the choice to abort that is fundamental, but perhaps…the choice to have sex in the first place.

Yeah. Real men only have sex when they’re willing to accept that the outcome of sexual intercourse can be and often is conception of a new human being, the offspring/child of himself and his partner, and with a woman who is willing to accept this biological reality also, so that no “force” is involved. Not that there is any force involved in the process, anyway.

So a women who cannot make a decision within five months makes abortion “essentially inaccessible” ?

    • gekkobear

      No.

Requiring all abortion clinics to have the same medical and safety standards of a Lasik or Oral Surgery clinic will close almost all of them.

And they’re so unsanitary they can’t possibly raise their standards in the 14 months the bill provides. I mean they’re apparently Truck Stop Bathroom unsanitary.

So we should support letting them cut open women… because that’s a good choice. And it’s just women so who cares if it’s unsanitary.

      • Bathing Suit Area

Yet abortion is still safer for women than giving birth…

        • Spinmamma

What’s the problem with making them safer?

          • Bathing Suit Area

My pointing that out was to illustrate that your story about how horribly unsafe abortions are is made up.

          • BAW

As anyone who followed the Gosnell case knows one of many problems is there is no reliable system in place to provide accurate information on deaths or serious injuries due to abortions. So how safe you “think” abortion is means nothing. None of the women who died or required major surgery after going to Gosnell were reported in abortion statistics.

And I’m sure you realize that it’s estimated that the 3rd leading cause of death for pregnant women is murder. Again, however, the we only have limited statistics but check local news stories and you’ll find some of these men who are serious abortion “advocates” don’t care at all about the women.

          • The Penguin

No. Your pointing that out was to let everyone know how truly f*cked up in the head you are. Thank you. Twisted idiot.

          • Spinmamma

            My story?

        • Todd Hill

Abstaining from heterosexual sexual intercourse is much safer for a woman than abortion.

        • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

How is it safer than giving birth? At least when you have a baby, you’re in a hospital, unless you choose otherwise. Are you really this stupid? Also, if you’re not a woman, just stfu. Love how the men are advocating for abortion right alongside these cretinous “women”.

          • Bathing Suit Area

More women die giving birth than having abortions. If the clinics were all such unsafe places I doubt that would be true.

          • The Penguin

Really? Have you been to any of these suspect clinics? Are you a healthcare professional? Have you ever witnessed an abortion. You are all knowing so I assume you have. The fact that there are more woman dying from giving birth just means more women choose to have the baby than abort it. It doesn’t mean it’s more dangerous to give birth than to abort it. And…as far as abortion, if you ever are involved in needing to make that decision, I would hope that you choose abortion. Because you should absolutely not procreate. And…STFU.

        • gekkobear

Hey, if you want to have someone perform surgery on you without a sterile environment or sterile equipment; that’s your “choice”.

But I don’t think the state should sanction that “clinic” as a viable location for surgery.

I can have my dad pull my teeth with his shop pliers in the barn; but lets not pretend that’s a safe, sterile, or as good an idea as seeing an oral surgeon.

“Safe, Legal, and Rare”… I didn’t realize the addendum here was “Pick one, and we choose legal only to work toward”.

You are aware of the case where the woman fished the condom out of the trash can and impregnated herself. Or the case where the woman performed oral sex, then used it to impregnate herself. In neither case did the man reasonably expect to have a child, much less pay for 20 years of child support.

Such cautionary tales could lead to men avoiding sex with women they don’t really know or care about. The horror!

    • 3seven77

So you actually believe that old saying, “She went and got herself pregnant.” I didn’t think anyone was actually that dumb. My bad.

    • DelPasso

I completely agree. When feminists raise the kids completely on their own, then they can say that men don’t have a say.

      • Bathing Suit Area

Seems to me that they own them on their own for about nine months… during which they have the sole say.

        • Spinmamma

“they own them on their own”?

        • Todd Hill

Yes, with the use of ‘ownership’ in its post, “BSA” has just declared that children are property and not sentient beings.

    • Damien Johnson

I understand the point you’re making is that if the man wants the child, the woman can still kill it, but if the man doesn’t want the child then he is still forced to pay for it and he has no say. Now I don’t necessarily agree with “financial abortion,” but I agree that they have a valid point that either way they “lose” (I only consider the outcome where the woman kills the child to be truly losing).

Yo, dudebros, here’s a literal fucking newsflash (see what I did there?); SEX IS PRIMARILY FOR MAKING BABIES, PLEASURE IS SECOND. Seriously. This is just as stupid as the sentence I read the other day “Unwanted pregnancies are used to punish women for daring to have sex.” OH MY GOD! Are you seriously telling me that sex causes PREGNANCY?! What a novel concept! How were these people able to live? How have they not eliminated themselves yet for their stupidity? Really.

      > “SEX IS PRIMARILY FOR MAKING BABIES, PLEASURE IS SECOND”

Citation please? I’m pretty sure most people in all of history have done it the other way around.

      • tops116

Yeah, and most people apparently don’t ever consider the fact that they’ll get a kid by doing the one thing that leads to having a kid. Funny how that worked out.

      • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Yet another dumbassed comment from someone unqualified to make a comment in the first place.

        I (Usually do it for the second reason, but at least I use protection… I CAN’T AFFORD to father a child (right now)…That is, if I had a GF to do it with… XD Jawamax 8<{D}

Yeah. What kind of sicko would have sex with his girlfriend?

@0:15 seconds is Texas’ message to Wendy Davis, including the following hand gesture.

  • Damien Johnson

Men for abortion only care about sex. SHOCKER! hell, that’s the primary reason some men are such manginas today, and why they will be a tumblr pro-choice white-knight; because if they’re anti baby-killing, they won’t get laid. And they know this. They know they have to support so-called “women’s rights” in order to get next to one of these women.

    • BrainChildOfGod

OMG, “mangina”! If someone hasn’t trademarked that already, you TOTALLY have to ASAP. LMAO

      • Damien Johnson

Nah, the word is already in use. It basically describes any loser man that will do a woman’s bidding no matter how irrational, degrading, or wrong it is. Thus, I’m pretty sure some men are only pro-choice in order to appear more attractive to women.

The other day I was called out and asked “I thought you wanted a girlfriend?” by a girl when I said the “war on women” was bullshit. And I responded by laying out why exactly the “war on women” was bullshit (reasons we both already know), and stating that my convictions and standards come first before any woman.

      • Bathing Suit Area

Haha, because it’s like vagina, and those things are the worst!

  • BadGirloftheNorth

No liberal war on women here…….Disgusting.

  • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

If the bro’s can’t talk women into abortions, they have to pay child support for 18 years. It’s not all that complicated to figure out the motivation of “brochoice”.

Ben Sherman: Geeze honey you’re good enough to bang, but I wouldn’t have a child with you/ #brochoice

  • Plerer

Im pretty sure the brochoice blog is meant to be a joke… He’s pointing out the stupidity of banning abortion.

    • BAW

Did you read it? He may be a joke but he’s very serious about his ideology. Typical UT Austin nonsense, as they say, “written from a progressive/liberal/Democratic standpoint.”

    • tops116

In other words, “clown nose on.”

And you do realize that it’s not about banning abortion outright, but putting a time limit on it? Oh wait, I guess not.

Y’know, I cop to being a procrastinator, but I can’t remember the last time I took 20 weeks to make an extremely important decision that would vastly affect the rest of my life one way or another.

  • 912er

I’ve been lovin’ me some Kirsten Powers lately…….Stay strong girl!

  • SideshowJon36

On a certain level, I gotta appreciate the BroChoice honesty

  • GrumpyCat

The truth is coming out of the woodwork. Its not a “woman’s rights” issue at all but one of maintaining a supply of willing women to service men at low cost with no commitment.

Free birth control! We must right the imbalance because men don’t get pregnant. Also under the Progressive Left ideology women must service men so as to prove their “equality”. So its only proper government provide free birth control.

No questions asked abortion on demand also must be a “woman’s rights issue” else someone might recognize it for what it really is, a Progressive Left “man’s” unwillingness to accept commitment and support for the mother and child.

Come to think of it abortion may not be all that bad after all. It may be God’s way of implementing Darwin’s Law: Survival of the fittest. Its only killing Progressive Left children. Cleansing the gene pool? Nature can be brutal sometimes.

  • Bathing Suit Area

Gosh, what sort of horrible man would want to have sex with women? Sicko.

    • tops116

Gosh, what sort of horrible man would want to have sex with women and not realize that doing so could get them pregnant? Why, the bro-choice crowd of course.

      • Bathing Suit Area

Why would they be pro choice if they didn’t know pregnancy was possible? Try thinking your comments through next time.

        • loveshiandsid

Because brochoice men think of themselves, first, last and always. I refer you back to young Ben’s illuminating post
Try thinking your comments through next time

          • LisaG

I would further refer you back to any post on this topic authored by Bathing Suit Area. The selfishness is strong with this one.

    • Kevin Scott

So now using women as objects for our sexual gratification is en vogue now? SWEET. Gosh, that whole “treating women as equals” thing WAS getting a bit blase and bothersome.

      • Bathing Suit Area

It’s very telling that you guys can’t image that a guy could have sex while still considering the woman as an equal.

        • LisaG

So, while you’re busy getting your “pleasure” on, while also “considering the woman as an equal,” do you ever at the same time consider the enormous consequences, should your plan fail and you get her pregnant? Oh, wait, I forgot…There is no plan, only sex. Your responsibility ends when the pleasure fades. Because according to you, it’s all about the pleasure. You don’t have to feel any responsibility because you didn’t “mean” to make a baby.

  • tops116

“Can you think of anything that kills the vibe faster than a woman fearing a back-alley abortion?”

Yeah, the baby being killed due to two people that were too dumb to use protection or to think their actions through. “Honey, I don’t want a child, so let’s keep doing the one thing that leads to having a child. ‘Kay?”

Here’s another one: having a baby despite being incapable of financially supporting both it and the mother. (I grant that this option presumes the mother wants to carry the child to term, of course.) We’re all responsible for the results of our own actions. If you have trouble with that concept, maybe you should try thinking more than one step ahead.

“Making abortion essentially inaccessible in Texas”

How does banning something after the five month mark make something “essentially inaccessible” again? I mean, really, does it take five months for someone to realize they don’t want a child? It probably only took them five minutes to decide to have the sex that led to the child in the first place. What, now I’m supposed to assume these folks are taking time to think out their actions?

“And don’t be surprised if casual sex outside of relationships becomes far more difficult to come by.”

Oh no! That’ll drastically cut down the chances of a woman having an invasive medical procedure to get rid of a child they didn’t want in the first place! Oh, the humanity!

    • LisaG

That “essentially inaccessible” remark precisely illustrates the problem with liberals. They make up highfalutin’ talking points now, and worry about making sense of them later (or not). I really don’t think they are concerned with their points making sense. It’s all about saying whatever will cause the general public to freak out as much as possible.

  • Trudy Hill

Some men just can’t run the little brain and the big brain at the same time. You know, like walking and chewing gum.

  • Christy000

Now they have a stupid follow up article “1950 or 2013 Conservatives rail against sex before marriage” Douche bags.

    • Damien Johnson

How is that even possible to be against sex AFTER marriage?

      • Christy000

OOps! I meant before. I just changed it.

        • Damien Johnson

and I read the wrong message before I read this one. HA!

      • Christy000

        Outside marriage actually

        • Damien Johnson

          oh, misread on my part.

          • Christy000

No, you didn’t misread, I actually messed up and put after. I edited it. I meant outside marriage. though. My fault.
