‘What’s your plan to salvage your dignity?’ Joan Walsh’s obsession with Sarah Palin continues

Never mind the cobwebs — the rent can’t be beat.

Salon’s Joan Walsh just can’t get enough of Sarah Palin impersonator Sarah Palin.

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah!”

But guys, she’s just keepin’ up with the crazy!

Was that a dig or an admission?

Heh.

Flashback to last month:

Indeed.

I think it was asked of Walsh.
      Must have been rhetorical.

Makes you wonder how may ethics charges Sean Parnell the current Governor of Alaska got when Sarah got one for something as small as wearing Todd’s jacket with a logo on it. As we have not heard any, it is for sure used as a way to bully her out of office. As Gov Parnell is not a threat on the national scale he has none yet.

    • trixiewoobeans

LOL!! I can’t believe she even tweeted that!! I wonder how many other Sarah “milestones” she has in her secret obsession journal! Talk about having to salvage dignity! Joan’s going to have to beg, borrow and steal to get some after this.

Very lame. Yeah resigning in earnest is much worse than lying on just about anything per this administration. If that is all they have, I really feel bad for them. btw Mike

Sarah Palin served 32 out of 48 months the same percentage that Obama served of his Senate term (not including the two-year break he spent campaigning) and accomplished everything she set out to do in that time.

After Sarah Palin accepted John McCain’s offer to run for vice president and became the left’s (media) most attacked and vilified person she returned to Alaska to find a never-ending assault of frivolous ethics complaints paralyzing her ability to govern the state.

She resigned because she recognized the cost that the frivolous ethics complaints were having on her state , and she saw how much of her staff’s time and her own time were forced to deal with those issues.

That entire campaign of BS lawsuits was meant to do nothing but hamstring the governor’s office and bankrupt Sarah Palin.

She saw that if she stayed on as Governor it would continue to cost the state millions of dollars in wasted time and resources to defend against false and maliciously ethics complaints and doom it to gridlock.

Those frivolous lawsuits had already cost the state of AK close to $2 million; Sarah Palin had over $500,000 dollars in legal fees.

            http://articles.ktuu.com/2009-

These lawsuits were filed by activists whose goal was to bog down her administration with lawsuits and paperworks & to bankrupt her middle class family. Sarah Palin was responsible for her own legal fees due to the ethic laws at the time. She & her staff were spending 80% of their time defending lawsuits & dealing with FOIA requests. No sooner would one lawsuit go away then another was filed.

Sarah Palin knew that for the sake of her state it would be best if she stepped aside from the governorship. She resigned so the state could move forward.

In an article Sarah Palin said:

“I said, ‘Enough. Political adversaries and their political friends in the media will not destroy my State, my administration, nor my family. Enough.’ I knew if I didn’t play their game any longer, they could not win. I would not retreat, I would instead reload, and I would fight for what is right from a different plane.”

She promised to keep the frivolous anti-Palin law suits away from the Alaskan people and to be more effective on the stump ( supporting candidates , fundraising, etc)

Sarah Palin was truthful on both accounts.

She was the catalyst for the takeover of the House , twice as many Governships and lopsided Gop Statehouses with her endorsements and rallies all over the country during the 2010 election.

Sarah Palin also had a very strong hand in the party’s few successes during the 2012 election.

  • Elaine

BS! She quit because the liberal left was inundating her with phony law suits that were taking all her time and money to defend. (All tossed or proven wrong, BTW) She did what was right. I know that’s a tough one for all who love to just BLOW our tax dollars. She could have stayed and campaigned on our dime like BO has done since he HIT THE POLITCAL scene, seemingly out of nowhere?
Being a community organizer in not a big deal at all. BO had ZERO experience and he has still not learned how to do anything but CAMPAIGN with his trusty tellley-prompter!

    • Jefferson Tea Party

      Exactly right Elaine!

    • M_Baker

And what about all the tax dollars she waisted in Alaska?
Are you not able to defend Palin in what I wrote. Like I said, half of the amount needed to defend Palin was from her own complaint against her and you had not counter defense for that.

She may have claimed that was the reason why she quit, but one of co-workers also stated that she wrote in e-mails that she “hated” her job. Believe what you will but when the cost to defend herself is because of a complaint she filled against herself is no excuse for quitting, especially when she can make the kind of money she could make at Fox.

Obama hit the political scene and won the Presidency, what’s wrong with that? Also watch Palin also use the tele Prompter. she even once had to use her palm for prearranged questions after one of her speeches.

I’ve already mentioned where Palin misused her state tax dollar and you have yet to defend it. All you write is your opinion, not responding in what I wrote.

You said noting that defended Palin from what I wrote. That should tell you something, at least it does for me.

      • Timbet

“And what about all the tax dollars she waisted in Alaska?”
        —————–
Sarah Palin saved, reformed, and prioritized like a good fiscal manager. She invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding, paid down debt, invested $2.6 billion in an education fund for the future, and funded a Senior Benefits Program to provide support for low-income Alaskan seniors.

In stark contrast to President Obama and other governors whose fiscal records are dogged by credit downgrades, Palin left Alaska with an improved credit rating during and following her tenure as governor.

Standard & Poor’s raised Alaska’s credit rating from AA to AA+ in April 2008.

Then in 2010, both Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s upgraded Alaska to AAA for the first time in the state’s history due to policies enacted by Palin that made the state’s finances more than solvent.”

Sarah Palin succeeded to a remarkable extent in settling what had seemed insoluble problems, in the process putting Alaska on a trajectory to financial well-being.

        This is strong financial management.

        • M_Baker

Alaska is lucky, unlike any other of the states in has oil to help finance the state. Because of the income the oil provides, the State doesn’t need to tax the income of the residents and has lowered their property tax. But, the current governor, a past oil lobbyist, has been working on lowering the taxes on the oil companies. It also doesn’t look as if the legislature is fighting hard to keep it where it is now.

It’s only because of the oil taxes that the Standard & Poors and Moody have rated Alaska so high. Palin is also not responsible for the rating. Their rating was just as high before she became governor.

          • mike_in_kosovo

It’s only because of the oil taxes that the Standard & Poors and Moody have rated Alaska so high.

The Alaska Permanent Fund has been in existence since 1976, so why did S&P / Moody wait 32 years to raise the rating, if that were the case?

          • Timbet

“Palin is also not responsible for the rating. Their rating was just as high before she became governor.”

That is a gossip from Palin hater Baily; and not a fact.

Bailey is a disgruntled former employee; Sarah Palin suspended Bailey and refused to hire Bailey when he sought a position on her vice presidential campaign staff and later with SarahPAC.
Mr. Bailey has an axe to grind and abandoned truth in his book…The book belongs on fiction shelves.

Bailey chose an anti-Palin writer and a “critic” of Sarah Palin to help pen the text.

A man by the name of Ken Morris, is a known leftist who has a history of pulling obsessive stunts directed towards Sarah Palin, and that the other writer, Jeanne Devon, is a legend in the Alaskan left-wing blogoshpere for her unhinged, freakish behavior aimed at hurting Sarah Palin.

These aren’t just people who disagree with her politics. These are people who have spent a lot of time, money, and integrity trying to damage Sarah Palin.

        • M_Baker

Bailey was there, everyday in Palin’s office. Just because he said something not favorable to Palin doesn’t make him a hater as you seem to want to believe. He is also pretty happy he didn’t joint her campaign or he would have been out of a job afterwards.

Bailey also did her and Todd a big favor by calling the Troopers headquarters trying to get them to fire Palin’s ex-brother-in-law.

Jeanne Devon has a high reputation for what she writes in her blog, even though it’s not necessarily favorable to Palin. Both co-writers wrote primarily what Bailey gave them, which again is no reason to proclaim her as being “unhinged, freakish behavior” simply because they don’t write what you believe they should write.
Basically, your opinion isn’t worth anything unless you can back it up with solid evidence to back what you wrote and you did not. I have also read some of her posts in the past and I don’t agree with you.

          • Timbet

Bailey’s rantings are a figment of his imagination. He is a disgruntled former employee.

Sarah Palin suspended Bailey and refused to hire Bailey when he sought a position on her vice presidential campaign staff and later with SarahPAC.

By the way, Bailey was fined ( $11,900) for stealing state emails.

When Bailey stole these emails, he handed them over to a known far-left blogger so that she could twist the emails into her own deranged version of events, and sell them to Palin haters in the form of a book.

There were no smoking-guns in the emails themselves, but that didn’t stop the blogger from making up a bunch of lies to place in between the lines of mundane messages.

      • Timbet

“I’ve already mentioned where Palin misused her state tax dollar”
        ————–
The media went through pages and pages of Palin Emails (24,000+ pages of emails from Palin’s term as governor), looking for damning information that could wipe Sarah Palin from America’s political scene.

What they found was the inner workings of an efficient, informed and very involved governor that mounted an unprecedented 80 plus approval rating while in office…..not exactly what the death squads of WaPo, the NYT, and other mainstream outlets had in mind.

The Palin Emails (24,000+ pages of emails) show that Sarah Palin conducted the business of her state in a transparent, bi-partisan, and responsible manner. She worked long, hard hours and treated everyone with respect.

There were no sex scandals, no lewd twitter photos, no misuse of taxpayer dollars, and no malicious behavior, whatsoever. Just a governor doing her job.

This scenario is in sharp contrast to the manner in which the media handled Barack Obama, whom it woefully failed to properly investigate in 2007-08.

The media , Hollywood and the REP establishment have done everything they can to vilify Sarah Palin and her family but despite a massive effort to destroy her, she is still on her feet and making a difference in the political world.

    • M_Baker

I’ve already address what you wrote and you haven’t responded with any kind of valid defense. Like I said, she violated at least two clear violations which also points to her dishonesty.

You have not given anything wrong with what Obama has done. Like I said, all politicians running for higher office turn over their current duties to someone else so their constituency is properly represented. Obama won the majority of the votes which is why he is in office today and not McCain/Palin. Get use to it because he was also elected to a second term and you seem to have a problem understanding you in the minority, not the majority. What will you do or say if Hillary wins the Presidency if she decides to run. If you’re going try using the same old excuses you are now, your in for a long period of disappointment and misery.

      • Judy B

Seriously, “won the popular vote”…laughable considering the volumes of evidence of voter fraud…severl already sentenced for their crimes.

        • ObamaFail

And there have already been numerous, verified instances of voter fraud found in Obama’s favor for 2012 as well.

      • mike_in_kosovo

Obama won the majority of the votes which is why he is in office today and not McCain/Palin.

And *still* trying to blame everyone else for his failings, 5 years later.

      • Timbet

There were many “ethics” complaints filed against Sarah Palin. All complaints ,but two ,dismissed as lacking any merit.

The other two were settlements where Sarah Palin was cleared of any wrongdoing.

To cut a long story short Sarah Palin was exonerated from blame in all cases without exception.

      • TocksNedlog

Mama always said, the only thing worse than committing a violation is VIOLATING a violation!

Can you even name one governor who left because of the left?

      • Timbet

If she had stayed in office what do you think it would have cost the state in time and money. Plus, how much actual governing would she have been able to accomplish?

No sooner would one lawsuit go away then another was filed.
The ethics complaint investigations had cost Alaskans $2+ million At that rate, these systematic complaints would have cost Alaskans $8 million by the end of her term.

        • M_Baker

If she would have behaved in a responsible manner, it wouldn’t cost the state any more than what she had already accumulated. But doing such things as wearing a Ski-Doo snow machine outfit was just asking for an ethics complaint being filed against her. She should have thought about what others would think before she even put it on. It’s obvious gives off the impression she’s could be wearing it because she was paid to promote the company no matter if they sponsored Todd or not. In fact, we really have no proof she might have.

I can’t remember any other ethic complaints that were filed against her, but as I recall none of them were so outrageously stupid that they shouldn’t at least be given some thought to. Palin just acted as if she was special and seemed to go out and try to prove it.

          • Timbet

The ethic complaints were filed in order to bog down her administration with lawsuits and paperworks & to bankrupt her middle class family. (Sarah Palin was responsible for her own legal fees due to the ethic laws at the time. )

When she resigned as Governor, she was labeled a quitter. I assure you that if she hadn’t resigned, she would have been painted by many as a self-centered hypocrite who didn’t care about Alaska.

They would have argued that she prioritized the preservation of her political future over the fact that frivolous ethics charges against her were draining the resources of the governor’s office.

I don’t know if the Koch Brothers financed her because I haven’t seen any proof. I only write what can be verified. And what’s the difference between the Koch Brothers and Soros. They both give money to what they believe. Or is it because Soros gives to the left and that makes him bad?

Sarah Palin & her staff were spending 80% of their time defending lawsuits & dealing with FOIA requests… that take an enormous amount of time to process… instead of doing the job she was elected to do.

No sooner would one lawsuit go away then another was filed.

  • Timbet

Those frivolous lawsuits had already cost the state of AK close to $2 million; Sarah Palin had over $500,000 dollars in legal fees.

    http://articles.ktuu.com/2009-07-09/ethics-complaints_24126005

Hey Ma!

DEO GRATIAS for the rugged Palin family who do not cower when the Leftist Bullies unleash. There are so many things about Gov Sarah Palin that trigger their irrational hatred … in fact, you would have to say that EVERYTHING about her drives them nearly crazy with anger, hatred ……. and FEAR

It is a little known fact but Gov Palin’s appearance on the National Stage on Sep 3rd 2008, (she and her family, including her younger son Trig introduced to > 40M Americans) had a profound impact on the key cultural issue of abortion.

If you track the bimonthly Gallup Poll numbers for pro-life/pro-choice through 2008, and look what happened at the sep/oct mark, then the trend since, you will see that the pro-life numbers exceeded pro-choice in America for the FIRST time, I think since Gallup has begun polling the issue.

IMV, THIS statistic is at the root of the Leftists’ FEAR of Gov Sarah Palin and is why they respond with PDS whenever she becomes prominent in the Media. If the Palin family were to live at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, would American Culture continue to move in the current direction of degradation, or is there a chance there would be a cultural swing toward more traditional American values?

“Being governor of a state with a population equivalent to the population of Columbus’

SarahPalin was the first female and youngest governor to be elected in Alaska, which is tied for the second most powerful governorship in the United States.

    • M_Baker

And…….. What does that prove? BTW, Alaska is not the second most powerful governor in the country.

      • Timbet

In Alaska, the Governor has line-item veto power over the budget and can only be overridden by a three-quarters majority of the Legislature. In 1992, the year Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton was elected President, his state budget was $2 billion and among the smallest in the country. Compared to that, Sarah Palin is an executive giant.

For more than two decades Thad Beyle, a political scientist at the University of North Carolina, has maintained an index of “institutional powers” in state offices. He rates governorships on potential length of service, budgetary and appointment authority, veto power and other factors. Mr. Beyle’s findings for 2008 rate Alaska at 4.1 on a scale of 5. The national average is 3.5.

Only four other states — Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia — concentrate as much power in the Governor’s office as Alaska does, and only one state (Massachusetts) concentrates more.

        hey Ma!

Sarah Palin has many years (successful) executive management experience at local, regional and state levels including command of the Alaska National Guard and has a history of being a reformer and taking on powerful interests for the benefit of ordinary people.

She has always been a tough-as-nails executive who understood her role as a servant for the people during her time as Mayor of Wasilla and as Governor; she took on the Republican establishment, big oil, corruption, ethics reform, and tax reform.

In Alaska, Sarah Palin’s top priorities included fiscal restraint, limiting the size of government, resource development, education, equitable oil valuation as well as transportation and infrastructure development. Sarah Palin fought for ethics reform and transparency in government.

She has cut spending, forward-funded education, and paved the way for job growth in her hometown.
Sarah Palin has fought to reduce spending and to enforce fiscal discipline as governor of Alaska. She has drastically reduced the growth of the state budget, which has helped to produce a record budget surplus.

She cut spending and vetoed hundreds of millions of dollars in spending, not because times were tough, but because she wanted to keep government small and solvent.
She reformed Alaska’s pension system and used surplus dollars to help pay down underfunded pensions, which reduced Alaska’s liabilities by 34.6 % to help provide analysts at Moody’s with enough confidence to later upgrade Alaska’s credit rating to AAA.
She also reduced earmark requests for the state of Alaska by 80% during her administration.

Sarah Palin succeeded to a remarkable extent in settling what had seemed insoluble problems, in the process putting Alaska on a trajectory to financial well-being.

        This is strong financial management.

Under her leadership, Alaska has invested $5 billion in state savings, reformed education funding, and implemented the Senior Benefits Program, which provides support for low-income Alaskan seniors. She’s also established Alaska’s Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities, and infrastructure.

Sarah Palin’s “business experience” comes with the negotiations and dealings she has had with one of the most powerful industries in the world: the energy industry. Sarah Palin has successfully negotiated new tax structures, lease deals and other issues that arise in the Alaska energy industry.
At the end of the day, Sarah Palin negotiated billion dollar deals with one of the toughest industries in the world.

Taking on corruption and crony capitalism has always been a cornerstone of Sarah Palin’s agenda; in Alaska she did take on the old-boy network — the oil companies and her own party .
As oil and gas commissioner, Sarah Palin called out the unethical practices of members of her own party.
As Governor, she sought to end the back room deals and improper relationships between oil companies and politicians.

Sarah Palin is past chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multistate government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment.

She also served as chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which was charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management.

After poring over thousands of emails (24,000+ pages of emails) from Palin’s term as governor, even the mainstream media has been forced to concede that Palin was a conscientious, transparent, and effective public servant.

  • Timbet

Joan, when Sarah Palin resigned as Governor, she was labeled a quitter.

I assure you that if she hadn’t resigned, she would have been painted by many as a self-centered hypocrite who didn’t care about Alaska.

They would have argued that she prioritized the preservation of her political future over the fact that frivolous ethics charges against her were draining the resources of the governor’s office.

Sarah Palin resigned to get the countless frivolous complaints against her out of the governor’s office, and the money they cost the state, away from the burden of taxpayers.

Walsh’s tweet is just bizarre. Why tweet about this? If Palin is irrelevant, or not ready for prime time, or whatever, then why would you take precious time that could be used to do laundry and instead celebrate the anniversary of Palin becoming a civilian? Did anyone ever celebrate the anniversary of Dan Quayle leaving the political life? Does anyone ever celebrate the anniversary of a ridiculous TV show being cancelled, or a terrible movie failing at the box office? No, they don’t. Does anyone ever celebrate the anniversary of ANYONE quitting (or even being fired)? No — who does that? Why would anyone mark the date on their calendar and then say “happy anniversary” four years later? Hell, leftists partied as if America’s Berlin Wall had come down and the seas had parted and the slaves had been freed all over again on the day when the hated “Chimpy McBushitler” left office, but if anyone specifically celebrated the four-year anniversary of Bush leaving office (as opposed to Obama being elected), I missed it.

The only explanation that makes sense is that Palin does indeed “live rent-free” in Walsh’s head, so she felt the need to broadcast a silly taunt. “Nyah nyah, you quit four years ago, you quitting quitter!” Yeah, I’m sure that gets under Palin’s skin. Not.

I just wanted to again point out that we should all be grateful Sarah Palin wasn’t elected.

After all, she might have gotten us into two more wars , increased national debt more in 5 years than Bush did in 8, expanded warrantless wiretapping, caused the country’s first-ever credit downgrade, nearly doubled the average unemployment of the Bush years, used the IRS to attack political enemies, gotten our Ambassador killed in Benghazi, used the DOJ to attack political enemies, lied about the Benghazi incident, funnelled billions to cronies in countless “green energy” scams, given Ambassadorships to child molesters and covered up their activities, harassed whistleblowers and Inspector Generals, used the EPA to attack political enemies, increased spending from $2.9T in 2008 to a mere $3.8T today, blamed the other party for own sequester, continued to torture detainees under AFM and rendition to countries for more torture, and used the NSA to monitor political enemies.

And just think of how she might have embarassed the country — calling P/E/ ratios “profits and earning ratios,” giving the British DVDs of own speeches in the wrong format for Britain, talking about the “intercontinental railroad,” claiming Texas has always been Republican, walking into White House windows, claiming bridges were collapsing during maintenance due to lack of maintenance, visiting “all 57 states,” getting an umbrella stuck in a gate, making the Marines hold umbrellas during speeches, calling our soldiers “corpse-men,” congratulating a deceased Medal of Honor winner for being a living MOH winner, serving a South Korean premier Japanese food, calling Nazi death camps “Polish death camps” and cancelling the Polish missile shield rollout on the anniversary of their invasion by the Soviets, giving the Russians a cheesy “reset button” that actually says “overcharge”… can you imagine?

With all of these renovations underway, Sarah Palin could have opted to stay at a hotel with her family, but instead she saved the taxpayers money by staying in her own home.

So she could have forced the state to pay for her lodging (in a hotel or an apartment) in Juneau or in Anchorage. Instead she lived in her house in Wasilla and saved the state thousands of dollars by only requesting meal per diems. She asked for meal per diems, not lodging per diems.

And she didn’t claim any per diems for her kids or her husband, though she was legally entitled to.

Because no guidance was provided in the law, the Palin administration followed historical precedent in travel decisions for the first family.
All of her travel expenses were originally approved by the Department of Administration!

The administration had decided to have the Attorney General establish a clearer set of guidelines that established a new “state interest” test for protocol travel and based on this set of new (!) guidelines Sarah Palin agreed to reimburse the state.

Nice try but….the prospects of a FNC deal was far off.

Anyway, Sarah Palin resigned because of time and financial burden of a litany of ethics complaints in the past several months.
The complaints were without merit and took away from the job she wanted to do for Alaskans.

Sarah Palin also had a very strong hand in the party’s few successes during the 2012 ele

Sarah Palin is a self-made women with an impressive career who broke into politics without the head start of a powerful husband or father.

She has demonstrated a willingness to fight for what she believes in, even if it is within her own party.

She took on the corruption in her party and state and she stood side by side with candidates across the country in 2010 and 2012, often against the wishes of the entrenched GOP establishment.

Sarah Palin has fought to reduce spending and to enforce fiscal discipline as governor of Alaska. She has drastically reduced the growth of the state budget, which has helped to produce a record budget surplus.Standard & Poor’s raised Alaska’s credit rating from AA to AA+ in April 2008.

    This is strong financial management.

As governor, Palin fought for and signed sweeping bipartisan ethics legislation, which restricted lobbyists, improved disclosure laws, and improved executive and legislative branch ethics laws. In the face of corruption, she continued to take on her own party when it was necessary.

She wasn’t clear of all wrong doing and I pointed out two examples in my comment you apparently never read. The personal board is responsible to Palin so if they want to keep their jobs, they are also going to do what she wants them to do. The Branchwater Report was investigated by a legislative committee composed of 2/3 Republicans who found her guilty of misusing her office on several occasions. She also had Todd perform several of her duties that was also seen as misusing her office. In addition, Todd was subpoenaed to appear in front of the committee but refused violating a legal order which he could have been prosecuted for.

Your response that Palin was cleared of all wrong doing is simply false.

Sarah Palin was a very popular Governor before the media attacked and vilified her. (during and after the 2008 election) The AK (and national) media are very hostile towards Sarah Palin.

There has not been one aspect of Palin’s life and career that has not been chewed over, criticized and lied about by the media; she has withstood the slings, barbs, bullets, and arrows that would have fallen a lesser person.

Soon after Palin entered the national political scene as Arizona Sen. John McCain’s GOP running mate, she was attacked as a diva, a clothes hog, an irresponsible mother and a political mercenary. They dismissed what she achieved as mayor of her hometown, commissioner of the state’s oil and pipeline board and governor of America’s largest state.

Sarah Palin’s enemies decided that nothing was too personal to attack-including her marriage, her children, her faith, and her wardrobe.

The media distorted Palin’s positions and beliefs beyond recognition. And almost every word out of her mouth was spun as a “flub”.

The media hounded her, and her family, on a daily basis, flat out making crap up (like that she, personally, shot wolves from the air). They claimed her baby was not her own; used despicable language to attack her, and her family; sent numerous reporters to Wasilla to dig up dirt on her ; AP reporters “factchecked” her book; accused her of being an accomplice to murder, her email hacked by the son of a Democrat congressman, political operatives filing endless bogus ethic charges designed to bankrupt a working family with a special need toddler and much more.

If Obama received half of the bad press that Sarah Palin does, his favorables would be in the low 30’s.

    Q. One of the things that came up during the campaign is that you charge the state per diem for time spent here in Wasilla. Is that something you are going to continue to do?

PALIN: “We’ve always followed the law and fully disclosed all that. The choice there in many months of the Juneau mansion being re-plumbed and all the improvements being made in the infrastructure of the Juneau house, where we weren’t going to be there anyway. Knowing that in the end it would have cost the state more money to do what other governors had done and that is either charge the state for hotel rooms. Or the state rents you an apartment like they did for Governor Murkowski. We said no, we just won’t sell our house, knowing that we’re going to spend quite a bit of time here, especially those months where the remodels were taking place in the governor’s mansion. And we would disclose my per diem, we wouldn’t try to hide it … trying to go above and beyond, not accepting any per diem for the kids or Todd at all, they’ve lived outside of the governor’s house. Trying to follow the rules and doing what is legal and ethical and full disclosure.”

Sarah Palin has offered many statements on issues such as health care, the Federal Reserve’s money printing in funding our federal deficit, Crony Capitalism, energy independence, foreign policy, etc)

She went to India , Hong Kong, World Knowledge Forum in South Korea ,etc where she talked about the economy, the deficit, government spending, gun control, the environment, the rising cost of food, energy, Egypt and other foreign policy related issues. She did unscripted Q&A’s

She was the first Republican to make a high-profile critique of the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing, though even earlier she had marked the collapsing value of the dollar as one of her issues.

She has repeatedly been a leading voice—via television appearances and speaking engagements—against the dangers of ObamaCare and the risks of President Obama’s approach to energy.

I don’t really care if she’s a self-made woman or not, its how she got there and her commitment to her job once she was there that matters to most. Palin is not interested in running for office in the future. You can see that by examining her expenses in her FEC to see that. I don’t know how much of the money from donations goes to her personally because that can be hid very easily. But what is obvious is what she spends to make herself look good. She has many consultants and ghost writers that spends $6000. A month to write for her.

You mention she has a willingness to fight, but that willingness is useless if she can’t provide any solutions. I have yet to see her present any solutions to what she says. Complaining and not providing solutions is the mark of a phony. Palin never fought for reduced spending in Alaska, she put up an appearance of doing so, but she also turned around later and went back to what was before. She said she wouldn’t accept any of the Stimulus, but again she turned around later and accepted it. The only small part of the Stimulous she never accepted was money for education, but she knew the legislator would turn around and accept it because it was for something badly needed.Palin knew they would do.

Wow…you’re a special kind of stupid, aren’t you? War costs have always been accounted for, ‘contingency operations’ were not only listed in the budget but were paid for by appropriations bills and, as such, were part of the accounting for each year.

I don’t know where you get your news, but you should listen to others as well. “Bush tax cuts that brought in record amounts of revenue”. That has got to be the most ridiculous statement I’ve seen in a very long time. Then you follow that up with even more ridiculous comments that have no truth to them at all. Your comment is so far into left field there is mo reason to even reply to it. When you become more informed on our National Debt, I’ll respond back to you.

I don’t know where you get your news, but you should listen to others as well.

Like you’re refusing to, you mean?

“Bush tax cuts that brought in record amounts of revenue”. That has got to be the most ridiculous statement I’ve seen in a very long time.

So, you think that IRS statistics are ridiculous? Interesting.

Then you follow that up with even more ridiculous comments that have no truth to them at all.

GPO budget reports have no truth to them at all? Interesting.

When you become more informed on our National Debt, I’ll respond back to you.

Given the data sources shown in my reply (IRS and GPO), I think it’s plainly evident who’s ‘more informed on our National Debt’. Unfortunately for your argument and the reputation of your parents and teachers…it’s not you.

  • M_Baker

What you need to do before we have an intelligent conversation on this, is for you to go to Wikipedia and look up “National Debt”. For instance, I have no idea how anyone can say Bush tax cuts brought in “record amounts of revenue” when the cuts were unfunded and cut the revenues we would have normally have come in if it wasn’t for the tax cuts. It does exactly the opposite when it comes to bringing in revenue.

Where idi I say the IRS statistics are ridiculous?

Before you call anyone stupid, know what you’re talking about before you make such a comment and it won’t make you look so ignorant on a subject you absolutely know anything about.

That is why I recommend you do some research on your own by going to unbiased sources of information so you can at least talk about the subject matter intelligently. While you’re reading about our National Debt, look at the surplus Clinton left when Bush began his Presidency and how much debt Bush left when he left office. Also do the same with Reagan by looking what our National Debt was when he took office and what it was when he left.

Don’t even bother to respond back to me before tomorrow evening which gives you time to do your homework. Anything you write before then will be ignored because I’ll know you’re just responding with the same uneducated comments as you have left before.

What you need to do before we have an intelligent conversation on this

What *YOU* need to do before we have an intelligent conversation is to actually *HAVE* some intelligence.

For instance, I have no idea how anyone can say Bush tax cuts brought in “record amounts of revenue” when the cuts were unfunded and cut the revenues we would have normally have come in if it wasn’t for the tax cuts. It does exactly the opposite when it comes to bringing in revenue.

Yay, talking points – why don’t you explain to us all just *what* “funds” tax cuts, skippy?

The reason why you have no idea why anyone can say that is because you exist with your head in the echo chamber of Huffinglue ComPost, DimwitsUnlimited, Dkos-kooks or MediaMorons…or up your fourth point of contact – the jury is still out.

Why should I believe your opinion pieces over the hard numbers from the federal agencies themselves?

Before you call anyone stupid, know what you’re talking about before you make such a comment and it won’t make you look so ignorant on a subject you absolutely know anything about.

Wow..that’s some weapons-grade projection you’ve got going on there, skippy. You’ve done nothing but regurgitate liberal talking points. (“Unfunded tax cuts” – hah!!) When confronted with (and confounded by) data and facts, you compound your error by spewing up those talking points yet again instead of doing the least bit of research of your own (whether due to ignorance or egotism is, as yet, undetermined).

Don’t even bother to respond back to me before tomorrow evening which gives you time to do your homework. Anything you write before then will be ignored because I’ll know you’re just responding with the same
uneducated comments as you have left before.

Ok, so it’s egotism AND ignorance, to go along with weapons-grade stupidity and projection. Speaking of homework, make sure you bring numbers instead of more soundbites…tomorrow evening should give you time to look some up.

“Wassila at the time had only 7,200 people and she couldn’t even handle that”
    —————–
Nice try but….you are using false talking points (and some gossip stories) from the 2008 election ; already debunked.

Sarah Palin served as Mayor/City Manager of Wasilla, Alaska from October 14, 1996 to October 14, 2002. As such, Palin was responsible for preparing, submitting, and executing the City’s annual budget for fiscal years 1997 through 2003. During this seven-year period, the City’s General Fund averaged an annual surplus of roughly $2.5 million. Palin inherited a surplus of just $350,000 from her predecessor John Stein (fiscal year 1996).

By 2003 she had grown the surplus to almost $3 million, with a 22.4% increase in revenue and a 15.6% reduction in spending

She added many improvements to Wasilla including making it the second economic booming town in Alaska.

“She next was put on the State’s energy commission, but quit that job after year.”
    ————————-
While on the commission she discovered one of her fellow Republicans on the commission ws personally profiting from this position.

She first tried to dela with it directly as she was bound by the rulse not to disclose information she learned as chairman while part of the commission.

When talk failed she resigned the prestigious and high paying position in order to legally be able to go public.

Going against her party and against advice she went public with her accusations resulting in commissioner Randy Reudrich being found guilty and fined the biggest civil fine in Alaskan history.

“Then of course she quit as governor.”
    —————–

Sarah Palin resigned to get the countless frivolous complaints against her out of the governor’s office, and the money they cost the state, away from the burden of taxpayers.

(Palin was responsible for her own legal fees ).
    http://articles.ktuu.com/2009-07-09/ethics-complaints_24126005

No sooner would one lawsuit go away then another was filed.
She resigned so the state could move forward.

She promised to keep the frivolous anti-Palin law suits away from the Alaskan people and to be more effective on the stump ( supporting candidates , fundraising, etc)

Sarah Palin was truthful on both accounts!

She was the catalyst for the takeover of the House , twice as many Governships and lopsided Gop Statehouses with her endorsements and rallies all over the country during the 2010 election.

Sarah Palin also had a very strong hand in the party’s few successes during the 2012 election.

“Palin didn’t cut back anything in Alaska”
    ————–
Sarah Palin cut spending and vetoed hundreds of millions of dollars in spending, not because times were tough, but because she wanted to keep government small and solvent.

She reformed Alaska’s pension system and used surplus dollars to help pay down underfunded pensions, which reduced Alaska’s liabilities by 34.6 % to help provide analysts at Moody’s with enough confidence to later upgrade Alaska’s credit rating to AAA.Sarah Palin has fought to reduce spending and to enforce fiscal discipline as governor of Alaska.

She has drastically reduced the growth of the state budget, which has helped to produce a record budget surplus.

Standard & Poor’s raised Alaska’s credit rating from AA to AA+ in April 2008. Then in 2010, both Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s upgraded Alaska to AAA for the first time in the state’s history due to policies enacted by Palin that made the state’s finances more than solvent.

She also reduced earmark requests for the state of Alaska by 80% during her administration.

Sarah Palin succeeded to a remarkable extent in settling what had seemed insoluble problems, in the process putting Alaska on a trajectory to financial well-being.

    This is strong financial management.

    “The e-mails were a joke”
    ———-
After poring over thousands of emails (24,000+ pages of emails) from Palin’s term as governor, even the mainstream media has been forced to concede that Palin was a conscientious, transparent, and effective public servant.

Sarah Palin has been attacked and scrutinized like no one else; she’s probably the “cleanest” politician out there.

There has not been one aspect of Palin’s life and career that has not been chewed over, criticized and lied about by her enemies; she has withstood the slings, barbs, bullets, and arrows that would have fallen a lesser person.
