Gov. Rick Perry ‘slut-shames’ Sen. Wendy Davis by noting her accomplishments

Yes, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is still allowed to talk, and the public at large is still free to wildly mischaracterize his words. The latest salvo in Perry’s “war on women” consists of his direct “attack” on Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis, whose filibuster Tuesday helped derail legislation that would restrict abortions in the state after 20 weeks and require physicians who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital.

Think Progress is tonight leading the charge, leveled by Davis herself, that Perry attacked her in a statement today at the National Right to Life Convention, and it even has the video to prove it, as well as a transcript. Perry made reference in his remarks to the fact that both Davis and her mother were single mothers who overcame difficult circumstances, with Davis herself managing to graduate from Harvard Law School and be elected a state senator. “Who are we to say that children born into the worst of circumstances can’t grow to live successful lives?” Perry asked.

That was the attack, by the way.

You right-wingers misunderstand, as usual. While it might seem as though Perry was saying Davis’ own accomplishments are proof that every life has potential, his noting of her own motherhood was actually an example of passive-aggressive slut-shaming.

Hey, why stop at claiming Perry was trying to imply it, even passively?

  • thunderstrikes

Rick Perry tells the truth and is accused of being a misogynist evil bigot moron. Typical leftists. Ignore the fact that he’s the best governor in the country.

    • Jeremy

Yep and there is lots of people moving to Texas as well.

      • aztectrumpet

I would be there or Arizona soon if it wasn’t for family out here and San Diego’s weather being so hard to leave.

        • nc

          You’re singing my song.

        • Temeculan

I live in San Diego…and really want to leave. But my job won’t let me…yet.

    • Elaine

Liberals will say and do just about anything to get the agenda they want and to hell with everyone else. They keep throwing mud, hoping some will stick. Think Progress is known for telling WHOPPERS. Only the ignorant, uniformed believe their BS and we know there’s plenty of them around!

    • Karl Winrich

I listened to that little 53s blurb in the middle of Gov. Perry’s speech and I didn’t hear any attack. All I heard was a statement of fact about Sen. Davis’s life experience. And that is exactly what liberals hate: Facts.

    • Cal

Yeah, Gov. Perry said nothing wrong. In fact, he was respectful of her accomplishments.

    • madmemere

thunder- Remember, that’s what the libtards do in order to cover up, or distract from their own misbehavior! They’re the ones who “preach” about racism, name calling, bigotry, etc., but they’re the ones who do it “all the time”!

    • grais

THEY are the ones who deem a divorced mother a slut.
      baffling.

  • Damien Johnson

Calling a liberal “feminist” woman out on her bullshit instead of kissing her ass = slut-shaming

    • Jeremy

      yeah pretty much.

    • nc

Just think. An hour ago I had never before heard the term “slut-shaming.”

Thanks libbies, for that addition to my vocabulary.

      • ICOYAR

Don’t use that in your vocabulary. The dictionary they use was originally scratched in restroom stalls.

        • nc

          Don’t worry. It’s not how I roll : )

      • Damien Johnson

The dictionary to check to find terms that will absolve oneself of any wrong-doing or responsibility.

      • Mom_ofthree

Funny, I thought “slut-walks” were a good thing, now I find that “slut’ is sometimes still bad? I wish the libs would make up their mind about what words are good and what words are bad, and who can use them…I mean equality and tolerance are getting really hard to understand when the rules keep changing…

        • TexSizzle

Apparently they are bad if conservatives use them, but perfectly acceptable if liberals use them.

    • LibLieExposer

That pretty much sums up what passes for logic with those douche nozzles at StinkProgress.

      • Damien Johnson

I like to call these so-called feminists, “feminazis.” Now that gets them pissed off because political correctness.

    • grais

And mentioning that a single mother is a single mother is slut-shaming.

Think of how often the term ‘single mother’ is thrown around by the left in an attempt to elicit pity/more government funding…that’s a good thing.

Mentioning how a single mother can be a successful, productive human being is bad…if a conservative says it.

These reasoning of these lunatics can be hard to decipher.

      • Damien Johnson

that whole thing really had me scratching my head for sure. Where do you get “wendy davis is a slut” out of “Wendy Davis raised a child in her teens”? Really.

        • grais

They must be revealing their own beliefs. Perry certainly didn’t say anything remotely like that.
          Shrieking, dumb women…so sad.

      • Clete Torres

…the term ‘unwed mother’ having fallen into disrepute. ‘Single mother’ sounds so non-judgemental, so non-confrontational.

        • grais

          I don’t think she’s unwed, though. I think she’s divorced.
Which makes the whole slut-shaming thing even more baffling. THEY are the ones asserting that single mothers are sluts.
          They’re boneheaded.

  • adam

Liberals never fail to amaze me. Rick Perry could have heaped praise upon praise upon her and he still would have intended to call her a slut…. but man, that Uncle Joe, he’s not really being racist when he makes those racist comments, that just means he loves you.

    • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

The basic liberal tactic is to misstate the words spoken by conservatives and Republicans, then when the false narrative is established, they attack what wasn’t actually said.

      • Marbran

You win! Watch for a call for a national discussion to end “slut-shaming.” It will be the new “anti-bullying” craze.

        • nc

Oh great. Now we’re going to have little kids crying, “Mommy, Billy just slut-shamed me!”

    • CatHerder

He actually did praise her. I have listened to the speech three times now and all I take away from it is how she persevered to eventually become a state Senator. Nothing at all about shameful behavior.

  • Sakemoto

Why are the so-called pro-choice women so obsessed with the right to murder babies?

    • Damien Johnson

because they’re infantile/refuse to grow up, blame men for all of their problems, and refuse to have to take care of a human other than themselves.

      • Jeremy

        yep that too.

      • plumberskid

They take care of them selves? Since when?

        • Damien Johnson

          sick burn!

        • madmemere

“Take care of themselves”? You could have fooled me; they all look like they’ve been dragged through knot-holes, or worse! Honestly, I’ve never seen a “good looking” libtard female.

    • Jeremy

good question. They are just sick people.

    • redheadgrl

      one word. eugenics.

    • Adela Wagner

Exactly. SO PRO-Choice, unless it comes to respecting the choice of a fetus that is actually, due to medical advancements, having a better and better chance of surviving outside the womb on it’s own…otherwise known as a BABY. And if it is born alive or “Aborted” outside the womb (?) take away ANY choice it might have as far as having life continued.

  • Jeremy

They are afraid of Rick Perry because,he doesn’t put up with their crap.

  • twinx

I thought TP stood for Toilet Paper.

    • LinTaylor

You should never use Think Progress as toilet paper, you might contract a terminal case of Asshattery.

  • Jeremy

Think Progress= another George Soros front group

  • Jeremy

Wendy Davis is playing the “Victim Card” another card liberals love to play.

  • Stephen L. Hall

    Think Progress . . . Doesn’t think . . . Doesn’t advocate progress . . . isn’t that false advertising?

Kind of make sense that they lie about Gov. Perry, the lies are in their very name.

    • Jeremy

Think Regress would be a better name for the group or Think Lies.

  • Damien Johnson

Ok, I’ve always been rather indifferent towards Rick Perry. Not a fan, not a hater, just indifferent. But they’re seriously putting words in this dude’s mouth? Really?

    • Jeremy

The left always does that to Conservatives.

      • Damien Johnson

“Wendy Davis should know better because she herself was a successful teen mom” = “Wendy Davis is a slut”

Well, she’s a lot of things for preventing what she did but still…

        • Jeremy

The left are the one calling her a slut and yet they are upset at Perry.

          • Damien Johnson

So true. I’m tempted to write this on facebook.

“Wendy Davis is a bitch. Oh wait, maybe I should put that in a rap song so I won’t be labeled a misogynist.”

          • nc

            Zing!

          • Damien Johnson

If I could rap, I would too.

    • plumberskid

Do the words “I can see Russia from my porch” ring a bell?

      • Damien Johnson

Back when I disliked conservatives and liberals equally, I thought she actually said that… wow I was low-info back then.

        • nc

Once your eyes are opened you will never go back. Isn’t it amazing what you see?

          • Damien Johnson

Pretty much. I didn’t know the things liberals believed in were so abhorrent. And contradictory. And retarded.

          • madmemere

Damien – Liberalism has, recently, been declared a “mental disorder” by some pretty well known psychologists, so if you have advanced and become informed, then there’s hope for you! Maybe that’s the cure – -becoming informed??

          • Damien Johnson

Really it was that moment I saw Obama say “God Bless you” to Planned Parenthood-and strangely, not the moment he ordered a drone strike in Libya shortly after winning again-it was that PP Gala moment when I realized I was done.

        • ThatConfused1

Hopefully you dont dislike pizza and beer. How can anyone dislike that combo?!

          • Damien Johnson

I haven’t found a beer I like yet. I’ve found a few drinks from restaurants, though.

          • ThatConfused1

I’m a dark or red ale type of guy. Then again can’t go wrong with micro brewed sodas or colas either.

          • Damien Johnson

Huh, I’ll try that then. Thanks!

          • ThatConfused1

You’re welcome. I’ve got a hell of a sweet tooth so I’m lucky a few restaurants around me do micro brewed soft drinks. Pumpkins ales and apple stouts also are tasty to me, don’t know how you’d like them however.

          • Michael Anderson (WB)

It’s hard to go wrong with a Belgian Ale, or French farm ale if you can find it.

          • redheadgrl

            SweetWater 420. top notch.

          • Damien Johnson

            Aw, thanks.

        • aztectrumpet

It was so widely reported that she said it. I wanted Romney back then and didn’t know Obama would be this bad but I still wanted Mccain to win and I didn’t know it wasn’t her.

    • nc

I said this on another thread, but it’s worth repeating: I wasn’t impressed with him during the debates (I didn’t know anything about him previously), but since then, I’ve heard him speak as Governor and he seems very skillful and confident. Plus look what a great job he’s doing with Texas.

      • TexSizzle

He was recovering from surgery and on pain medication during the debates, something the So-Called Unbiased Media (SCUM) never mentioned.

  • Xazor Kuhn

How can the Left continue it’s war on women narrative? By the way and in passing Rick Perry was not defeated by Wendy ‘Don’t tell my life story’ Davis he was defeated by a bunch of idiots who have no respect for the Democratic process or the rule of law. And if she had any knowledge of what they were going to do she should be impeached. Disgusting.

    • Jeremy

Wendy Davis has no shame and isn’t bright either.

      • Noah

yeah, but she does have a shot at becoming governor. She will throw down the victim card as many times as it takes.

        • TexSizzle

Highly unlikely she’ll ever become governor of Texas. Granny Annie Richards was the last Democratic elected governor of Texas, and her actions and mouth resulted in her loss to George W. Bush and the near total collapse of the Democratics in state-wide offices. We have no desire for another crazy leftist woman as our governor.

    • Marbran

No different than what they did in Wisconsin with Walker. This is their MO.

  • Peyton

I wish someone would attack me like that. Must have been brutal!

  • Steve_J

Seems the only ones calling her a slut are the lefties.

    • Jeremy

seems that way to me as well.

  • nc

Don’t they even bother to listen directly to what the Governor said? Both the Guardian and the Post got it wrong. After briefly citing her accomplishments, he said “it’s unfortunate that she hasn’t learned from her own example…”

    Check your source!

  • Jack Deth

    Typical liberal claptrap Alinsky tactic.

Take what your target says. Change it. Personalize it and attack their made up charge or newly made talking point. Instead of the original statement.

    Bottom line.

Governor Rick Perry killed with kindness. And cleaned Ms. Davis’ clock with the truth.

  • tjp77

So… holding her up as an example of a woman who endured difficult circumstances yet achieved a great deal of success in her life is an ‘attack’ now. Got it.

  • Wally West

All I heard was Rick saying that Wendy overcame being a teen mom and made something of herself despite the hardship.
    How is that slut shaming?

  • mickeyco

Aside from the fact that they’d have attacked Perry regardless, I doubt that there’s anyone in the state of TX who didn’t know before tonight that Sen. Davis was a single teen age mother. I’m sure she’s had to discuss it prior to this, especially in light of the discussion of abortion. He’s not telling secrets.

    • r07a23c

More than that, I’d wager she’s campaigned on it.

    • TexSizzle

I didn’t, but I pay attention to politics in the Panhandle, not the Metroplex. (For those of you outside Texas who don’t know, the Panhandle is the part bordered on the west by New Mexico and on the north and east by Oklahoma, and the Metroplex is the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.) In fact, I don’t recall ever having heard of her before.

  • homerlaughlin

Liberals are such babies, what about Bristol Palin she was a teen mom. She was called every ugly name, in print, on tv, even Letterman got into the act. And they never apologized.

    • http://www.black-and-right.com/ IceColdTroll

Why . . . it’s almost as if they have some sort of — double standard! Please, tell me it aint so!

  • Maxx

What kind of human being answers “life is worth celebrating when _______” with “our right to murder the unborn is preserved?”

It’s not pro-choice, it’s pro killing. When the end result is a life that is taken, how can it be anything but?

  • Garth Haycock

Regressives are incredibly dimwitted. Perry was not “slut-shaming” Mrs. Davis. He was praising her.

Now, Rush “slut-shamed” Sandra Fluke by pointing out her proclivity to spend thousands of dollars a year on birth control. And rightfully so.

    • LisaG

Rush did nothing of the sort. Sandra Fluke “slut-shamed” herself. In front of Congress. Under oath. Rush just replayed and commented on her own testimony.

      • Garth Haycock

It seems we agree about this.

      • Damien Johnson

To be fair to Fluke, she was only with one person (far as we know), so I wouldn’t call her a slut for that. She’s something for thinking she herself deserves free birth control, but not a slut. As for her friend with the ovarian cysts, then I feel that she was making a valid case for that, but only if she really had that much trouble should she be provided free birth control.

    • RememberSekhmet

If I said I needed $1000 worth of Beano a year, I claimed it was vital for my well-being, and that the government should buy me Beano—-the fart jokes would write themselves. Would I then get to claim I was “poot-shamed” by Limbaugh, if he cracks the obvious jokes about it?

      • AdoEdem

It’s the Pootriarchy keeping you down!

  • Jason Call

Goebbels-style propaganda tactics, that’s all. The latest “attack” in the “war on women.” Repeat a lie often enough…

  • tessaprn

WTH! Where did he shame her? I say she’s just another want to be victim in politics just so she can get her own self serving agenda across.

  • Wally West

I see the left want to make a mantra out of wendy davis and will twist republicans words around about her to hyperbole the war on women.

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

So all these liberals think Wendy’s a “slut”? I don’t understand the “slut” part. I at least know what shame is, unlike the liberals above, though

  • Marjorie

    What IS “slut shaming”?

  • Chris Chambers

Liberals will lie through their teeth to fool the ignorant. You have to admit, they are good at it. And they do live in their own little bubble (even moreso than Conservatives) so they hear little in the way of differing opinions.

  • Derek plt

What’s hilarious is that Wendy, in response to Gov. Perry’s statement about the sanctity of human life, while complimenting her in an example, she calls herself a slut along w/ her pro-genocide followers.
It’s just another example of the disgusting tactics of the fanatic leftist maniacs, along with their animalistic behavior in disrespecting democracy.
These leftists constantly display their contempt for America & from Obama to his voters & all the statist idiots in between illustrate this terrible sickness in America – the extremist leftist delusion that America should be reduced to a third world country.
    Repulsive.

For people who are fond of trotting out their purported education, they sure have a hard time with 5th Grade level reading comprehension. Did Self-Esteem Erotic Massage replace English 101 as a core requirement when I wasn’t looking?

    • Damien Johnson

      It will if it hasn’t.

      • AdoEdem

Reading is, liek, soooo hard, mmmkay? So it’s, liek, totally a tool of the white hetronormist cis patriarchy!

        …Did I really type that?

        • Damien Johnson

Too well. You might need to be checked out. j/k

but oh my God, do NOT get me started on the word “cis.” Seriously, I will say some seriously offensive s*it to express my hatred of this word. I am a natural-born male, not a fake artificial laboratory concoction, I don’t need a damn prefix.

          • nc

Ok, you got me curious so I looked it up. Are you seriously telling me this is what they’re peddling at universities these days? No, I already know the answer.

What ever happened to “live and let live?”

          • Damien Johnson

Yes, a natural-born is now a cisgender. See, that’s not even a damn word in this browser. Cis-man, cis-woman. Uh, no. You had the operation, you made the choice to have the operation, you get the prefix. Labeling the rest of us something different will not validate the self harm you caused yourself. The rest of us can keep our pronouns the way they were, thanks.

It’s certain special snowflake groups attempting to make artificial changes to a language. While language is in constant flux, it’s entirely organic. Artificial changes rarely stick, and more often than not they’re simply new ways of expression (groovy, rad, derp, fail, etc.) This is one of those language fads that probably won’t stick, especially since its use is so limited.

          • nc

I agree with your assessment about “certain special snowflake groups attempting to make artificial changes to a language.” However, I would caution you about underestimating the motives of those groups. While fun descriptors like “snowflake” will probably be a language fad that will fade with time, efforts to work “cisgender” into the culture is a deliberate strategy to first change the our language, then our mind-set will follow. This is the libbie MO of political correctness that is “transforming America” one word at a time.

          • AdoEdem

You have a good point there. It’s strange, because a lot of the far left homosexual groups dislike or even hate transgenders, so a lot of the resistance to the term comes as much from the far left as it does for the right.

But on the other hand, one of the Pillars of Leftism is the ideal of “inclusiveness” or “tolerance” (they were excluded from certain things in school, I imagine) and “discrimination” is one of their Seven Deadly Sins. So true, the push-back might only continue until their own self-destructive natures whittle away the last fragments of their common sense.

          • AdoEdem

I’ve been hanging out with some brainwashed Millennials for far too long. Poor kids got duped into crushing college debt in exchange for a “professor” convincing them that parroting his/her memorized campaign slogans was really “independent thought”, “critical thinking skills” and “research”.

          • Damien Johnson

so true. my rule was always attend community college. If I can’t afford an actual college, then don’t go. I don’t believe in owing one red cent to anyone, for any reason. I make sure I can buy things for myself.

          • AdoEdem

To the downvote: Hey now, I’m not talking about ALL Millennials, especially since the Texas ban draws most of its support from a mix of them and Xers. But they’re a bit of a lost, aimless generation because their parents (not the ones with their heads bolted on straight, who were raised by proper parents) didn’t have the spine to set boundaries and give them the proper guidance they needed from their parents.

These parents were either neglectful or were trying to be “buddies” to their kids rather than parents. Without a solid base, they were ripe pickings for certain predators who pretend to be “teachers”, who filled their heads with the sort of batty nonsense I’m discussing.

          • Damien Johnson

lol, the downvote was me mis-clicking, Yet somehow, myself being born in 1990, missed all of that, so now with these millenials you’re talking about I feel like quite the outsider at times. I look around and I wonder how people my age, outside of my church, can be so lost and jacked up.

          • AdoEdem

Ah, I thought Disqus was being weird again. It’s been bizarre all day. But I wanted to cover my bases just in case.

          • Karl H

“I told you that ‘juvenile delinquent’ is a contradiction in terms. ‘Delinquent’ means ‘failing in duty.’ But duty is an adult virtue—indeed a juvenile becomes an adult when, and only when, he acquires a knowledge of duty and embraces it as dearer than the self-love he was born with. There never was, there cannot be a ‘juvenile delinquent.’ But for every juvenile criminal there are always one or more adult delinquents—people of mature years who either do not know their duty, or who, knowing it, fail.”

            -Robert Heinlein- 1959 Starship Troopers

Unfortunately for Gen-x and Millennials they had far to many adult delinquents in their lives. I know I had to learn morality not at home but on my own. My babyboomer parents were off finding themselves while my sister and I grew up. Fortunately in the late 80’s California Universities still unknowingly harbored quite a few hardline Conservatives and Libertarians.

          • AdoEdem

I love that quote. (admittedly, I’m biased towards Heinlein) It sums up the entire problem of two generations who widely had to raise themselves. I was lucky: my Boomer parents were among those who escaped the widespread generational narcissism, but many of my peers weren’t so fortunate. As much as I’ve ragged on Millennials (and even a few of my own generation) to fight the programming, I can’t truly fault them for being failed on two fronts by the Boomers in their lives. Some kids might be rotten apples at the core, and there does come a time when you need to step up and take responsibility, but that’s a lot harder to do for the neglected and abused.

California universities are interesting. Even in places like “Berzerkeley” I’ve noticed pockets of common sense. I found this article some time time ago about the “two UCs”, with the original UC being a serious institution and the other which is basically just a professional protest factory and jobs program for the worthless. http://www.city-journal.org/2013/23_2_multiculti-university.html It explained why I was observing a bizarre coexistence between moderate-to-conservative values and far left wing moonbattery while I was at UC.

    • ThatConfused1

English 101 and 102 have kinda sub par standards in some colleges these days. I’ve had the joys of proof reading material for a professor that had a lot of l337 slang tossed into it for CS thesis papers.
Edit: Also had students argue with me why Wikipedia isn’t a tolerated reference source for paper research and quoting. Such students I helped that refused to remove Wikipedia referencing ended up with F’s.

      • AdoEdem

No kidding. I was introduced to the brutal world of writing by an admitted lefty, but I’ll give her credit for teaching her students critical thinking, not to mention she would NOT let you off the hook in ANY argument even if you agreed with her stance. And you had damn well back up your stuff with reliable sources.

Damn shame that most lecturers these days just play to the egoes of the kids they’re supposed to be teaching and drill talking points into them to butter up their own egoes. In a way, I can’t *completely* fault the college kids for their critical thinking fail: they were generally never taught how in the first place.

        • ThatConfused1

Well at least she didn’t punish you for having a different point of view, my Engineering Graphics lecture teacher hated me and had me slated to fail even when I was making A’s in the lab work. The lab instructor fought for my grade and lost.

          • AdoEdem

That sucks. Unfortunately a lot of instructors seem to go on a kind of power trip when they’re in those kinds of positions.

      • Damien Johnson

What I knew and got by on as a student was that if I use wikipedia, use the sources from the wiki, not wikipedia itself.

  • KansasGirl

    The aggression is escalating.

  • HARP2

    Poor libs. Always the victim.
Time to put on your big girl panties sugar.

    • ThatConfused1

Uh, wouldn’t she need to buy those first? Or do they expect others to pick up the tab for those along with their birth control?

    • Damien Johnson

You called her “sugar.” HOW DARE YOU. SEXIST CHAUVINIST PIG. FEMINISM!

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      “Granny Panties?” I prefer Shoubou (Sexy Japanese Panties)… Just sayin’… Jawamax 8<{D}

  • TDS

To a Liberal, telling the truth usually IS an attack on them…

  • $2634156

It is telling they all use the same phrase and idiotic myopic antilogic. They’re like freaking lemmings.

  • Batman

    Liberals lying…pfft…no way…

  • BAW

My daughter was disappointed to see one of her male friends (smart guy) on Facebook praising Wendy Davis for her filibuster……

but then he added his criticism of why she did it. To stop this bill which he supports.

She said he, of course, was jumped on big time and took on all comers.

As I’ve said, only real men have the courage to participate in this debate on the pro-life side. Didn’t have to tell her that. She once surprised another male friend by saying she wouldn’t even date a Democrat. I thought it was a nice of way of helping him understand why she was never interested in him. They simply have different values. I was luckily blessed with a very smart daughter.

    • Damien Johnson

Let me guess, he got the standard “you’re a misogynist, sexist, you don’t care about women” routine, right?

  • Damien Johnson

    I never mentioned all day today. Yesterday I was reading up on the concept of “financial abortion.” I found this gem of a quote, from one of those feminazi sites;

“Unwanted pregnancies are already used to punish women for daring to have sex.”

Wow. What a new concept that sex results in a baby! Next, they’ll blame mcdonalds for “punishing” them with unwanted fat!

No I’m serious, somebody actually wrote that, google it.

    • wwbdinct

Well, if you remember, Michelle Obama said that we have to change our language, our history and our culture. What’s up is now down – what’s right is now wrong…….

      • Michael Anderson (WB)

It’s like a new language, or a new way to speak. “New way to speak” is too long, and “language” has got to be racist, so we’ll need to come up with another phrase to describe it. May I suggest Newspeak?

  • caritas7s

How fascinating… Rick Perry praises both women, Wendy Davis and her mother, for giving birth to their babies, raising them, getting a wonderful education and making something of their lives. The left says he’s “slut shaming.”

Does the left believe a teenage or unwed mother is a slut? Does childbirth make one a slut? Having one or several abortions is fine, but having a child makes a woman a slut?

Sandra Fluke demanding the entire nation must pay an exorbitant amount of money for her birth control implies nothing about Ms Fluke’s moral condition; Ms Davis demanding abortions must be performed at any stage of pregnancy says nothing about her moral condition… both have a nationwide following who call them heros.

Meanwhile, mentioning the fact that a woman had a child at a young age means she has been called a slut. What an odd way of thinking. It boggles the mind.

  • radicallyalyssa

My gosh! It goes from him saying she was a teen mom to him slut-shaming her to him calling her a slut.

I hate liberals, but I HATE Feminists.

  • Raye09

What I don’t get about “slut shaming” is in order to be shamed you have to think something is wrong with your behavior. If a woman is truly happy with how she is living then I don’t see how she can be shamed.

  • PatriotRG

Libs….do as i say not do as I do.

Nothing freaks a libtard out more than having their hypocrisy exposed. They revert back to the usual mantra….racist , misogynistic etc.

  • NRPax

I might be reading all this wrong, but the comments seem to imply the following: “Sure, Wendy was a teen mom and she was successful. But she’s the only woman who could do that and every other woman is DOOMED if they do the same thing.”

  • stellatruman

If anything, he seemed to be pointing out that abortion wasn’t her option and it doesn’t have to be others

    • sickofitall1096

But you see that is too logical for the libs to wrap their pea sized brains around. Rather than enter into a mature, adult discussion over what Governor Perry was actually saying and implying with his statement it’s smear, smear, smear and a gross twisting of his words. Everyday the left gets more and more out of control. It would be scary if I wasn’t so disgusted by it.

  • Marbran

You cannot have a civil discussion with liberals. Members of the party of tolerance will immediately turn on the attack mode once they realize you aren’t willfully and eagerly going to go along with their twisted world view.

Remember, whenever you are in a discussion with a pro-abortion fanatic, ask them what their views are on the death penalty. I have yet to find a pro-abortionist who is also for the death penalty. Liberalism IS a mental disease.

  • waterytart

Please Governor Perry, do NOT apologize. That will just lead to the, “See?!! If he didn’t think he did anything wrong, why did he apologize?!!” BS that we all know will follow.

    • Elaine

What would he apologize for? It’s a lie, plain ad simple. Keep calling them out. All we need these days are 2 words and those are the ones he should use! “YOU LIE!”

      • waterytart

        Agreed!

  • kateorjane

When did the term “slut-shaming” come into vogue? Was it when the Left decided that women are entitled to be just as crass and trashy as the “good ole boys? And in response to the Left celebrating women being sluts the Right took to faulting them for it?

  • digitalPimple

    FailMom still at it huh?

  • http://discus.com yourmamatoo

    Poor liberals.
They cannot take what thy dish out.
    Hypocrites.

  • Danny Wheeler

    Liberals, heal thyselves.

  • Slugglife

Whats so shameful about being a slut? I thought the left was encouraging no strings attached sex with anyone you choose of any gender. Think progress puts out the phrase of the day and the parrots start squaking-slut shame, slut shame- polly want a slut shame?

  • mapache

The information is available in Senator Wendy Davis’ own official bio. Hardly considered private information.

    http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Senate/members/dist10/dist10.htm

  • Billie Slash

Only a person with a guilty conscience would consider it an “attack” to hear the truth about their own life. What are you ashamed of, Mizz Davis??

  • NCRelite

Typical. Can’t debate the issues so just smear instead and create another victim like Sandra Fluke.

    • mapache

where is the smear…the info is on her official website?

  • dreamkitten61

wow.. liberals, lets ignore the facts. You mutilate a persons words as badly as you do an aborted baby.

  • Arnold Townsend

All this huff and puff and false (and fake) outrage — just so they can continue to kill unborn babies even into the ninth month. Hell yawns hungrily for their souls …

  • Joe

Wow – a direct compliment and this is the reaction… insanity!

  • froggy19510

    “attacked me and my family”
Say Wendy. It’s My family and me.
This woman is in theTexas Congress. Did she ever go to school?

  • Conservagrl

That’s an attack? if anything it’s a reality check via an analogy that Perry was making, Davis was the product of a single mother and a teen mother herself, what if Davis’ mother made the choice that Davis herself advocates? what if Davis made that choice in reference to her own child?

  • neoface

Boy, that was over sensitive to the max!!! Davis probably had wished that her mother had the choice of aborting her and she had the choice of aborting her child the last minute. This Davis woman definitely had an ax to grind, she was just pissed that Perry outed she and her mother for their past indiscretion. Yes, there are always consequences even without the help of internet.

    • TexSizzle

Perry didn’t out they; she outed they on her official website.

  • happyscrapper

Deliberately misinterpreting what Perry said is the same as slander. He should sue some of these morons. Perry was praising Wendy and that was turned into the complete opposite, as is everything the regressives do and say!! It is frustrating to read about the crap these morons pull…even people who should know better, like Alan Colmes. He is a radical leftie, but to purposely malign someone when you know it isn’t true, doesn’t seem to be his style. Apparently, he is turning into a lying SOB just like the rest of them.

  • Janet Silverstein

Reading comprehension does not seem like the liberals’ forte.

  • Steve

That’s an attack??? To me, it was a compliment. But, of course it all depends on your point of view. To libs, anything you say, against their side, is a VILE ATTACK.

  • CardiLover

They all read the talking points! They really need to start reading/listening to each other and then get a good thesaurus!

  • James Janda

Wow. It’s true. Liberals can’t even take a compliment without seeing some hidden message being behind it all. How completely delusional can you liberal commenters be before you completely implode on your own hypocrisy? Have you any idea how ctotally asinine you come across to others? Good grief you people are imbeciles.

  • interestedobserver2

I am just stunned that Wendy Davis would have the balls to lie so blatantly about what was said about her. In fact, he PRAISED her for her hard work and devotion to family, and then simply noted that other babies that would be aborted under her laws should have the same opportunities to rise.

Any respect I had for her just died.

  • marcellucci

How about the tweet: “….P.S. Wendy Davis was 19 when she had her first child, but she was also a married woman …..”
    .
    Directly from Davis’ Website:
    “….By 19, Wendy was a single mother herself…..”

  • Isahiah62

can someone explain to me how preventing abortions after 20 weeks (premeditatingly murdering a viable fetus ie BABY fully capable of life outside the womb) would close so many “women’s health” centers. Are the majority of their clients having only late term abortions? Supposedly they are there doling out birth control pills and pap smears.

In this day and age when a pregnancy test can show if you are preggo even couple days later- and a woman has the CHOICE to take a morning after pill if she “makes a mistake”- there is absolutely no need for late term abortions-
By trying to make this issue so absolutist – NONE or ALL – both sides are making a mockery of this topic………………………….
I support a woman’s right to terminate her pregnancy up to 2 months but not after it is a BABY- at 20 weeks itis a BABY

  • Sproing

As I grow older, by the second it sometimes seems, I grow even more distasteful of what passes for modern liberal/progressives. They have proved to be neither liberal nor progressive as witnessed by their group think reactions and actions to almost any event headlining a person who has a different viewpoint. to a fine edge for decades

They slander without the slightest bit of thought as to why or whom they are slandering, they repeat hearsay lies without any effort on their part to verify the truth of their sheep like actions, and yet they insist that they are the ones who always exhibit high morals, unassailable ethics, and true Christian understanding. They accuse everyone who opposes them of exactly the very things they themselves have honed for decades since the student and Communist inspired unrest of the Vietnam era without even seeing the irony in their actions.

Gov. Perry, if you bother to listen to his speech and can understand the English language without needing a translator/party minder to translate it for you, was plainly making the case that DESPITE her own personal example of what a woman can achieve even when suffering the supposed disadvantage of being a single mom she has chosen to ignore that and side with those who believe that abortions should have no restrictions placed on them no matter what percentage of society feels that position is wrong and no matter what medical science has proven is actually the case at the end of the 5th month of pregnancy.
He wasn’t slamming her for being a single mom or for getting pregnant at such a young age. he didn’t call her a slut not indicate in any way that she was unmarried at the time so to indicate in any way that he did those things is to put their words into his mouth in order to slander him and his position.
This isn’t an attack on women. In fact it could easily be argued that the leaders of this and many other so-called ‘progressive’ groups are in fact manipulating women, (and other assorted sub-groups of which they are so fond of creating), so as to further their agenda of destroying the backbone of every civilization, the family. They would then insert the state (run by them of course) in it’s place and everything would be wonderful….for them.

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/JayJay3Fifty7 JJ357

Ricky don’t be so passive aggressive, be open about what you think. You know kind of like Bill Maher /s…I call BS on this one, no “slut shaming” here.

  • Kathy Fugitt Price Skaggs

Liberal continue to show just how liberalism is a mental illness. Rick Perry talks about how Senator Davis proves every life is worth something and they turn it into something else. Liberal really are stupid.

  • RedSoloCup

    Liberals, commiting slander as always.

BTW how long did it take for ThinkProgress to get their tax-exempt status? No doubt faster than you can say “Abracadabra”.

You’re damned if you do, and you’re damned if you don’t. Notice how liberals constantly act like single motherhood is the next best thing since sliced bread, yet they also act like you’re a bigoted woman-hater if you don’t want single women, in particular, to be able to get abortions on demand.
