Kristen Bell proposes to Dax Shepard after DOMA ruling; Gets Twitter handle wrong; Update: Shepard says ‘F**k Yes’

Actors Kirsten Bell and Dax Shepard have said they would not wed until same-sex marriage is legal in California. After the Supreme Court’s ruling today, Bell popped the question on Twitter.

Unfortunately, Shepard’s official Twitter account is @daxshepard1. @daxshepard is an account with the default egg avatar and zero tweets.

Or maybe it’s @daxshepard’s lucky day! Nah. Bell deleted the tweet with the wrong handle and sent the proposal again.

Update:

Awww. He said “yes”!

It really is disgraceful to conservative principles that you are heaping ridicule on this couple over a typo in a marriage proposal.

    • Boring_Inc

wut u know about conservative principles? Its all a joke that this person is proposing on twitter anyway.

      • Jeremy

no kidding. What rational person seriously proposes on twitter.

    • NRPax

I’ve had LASIK and I can’t see any heaping of ridicule that you’re talking about. And it’s not like they broke out any vulgarity on them.

    • Hiraghm

      They are not “a couple”.

And they’ve earned ridicule due to their mockery of the institution of marriage.

      • Dee

Plus, they totally copied Brangelina with that whole thing — copycats! Get some originality.

Hey Alice — now that all the Brady’s are dead [literally and figuratively] — clean my house for a buck or two?

    • gekkobear

I’ve never had a typo in a marriage proposal, nor have any of my conservative friends.

Although they all proposed in person, not over tweet, facebook, or text message.

I realize that to liberals marriage has almost no meaning so you can propose with the same enthusiasm you ask someone if they want to hang out this weekend; some people take it more seriously.

I’m sorry that marriage means something to us, and that offends you deeply.

      • GaryTheBrave

In Hollywood a weekend is about as long as marriages last.

    • Steve_J

Maybe they shouldn’t be considering marriage if she can’t get his twitter account correct.

    • aliwilcox

      Lighten up–it’s good natured joking.

    • jetch

please re-read the entire article and tell us where the ridicule is at!

    • Zach Smith

      Well, it is ridiculous.

    • Jeff McCabe

You think this consists of heaping ridicule? Really?

      • Zane Henry

Obviously, she’s never read Stacey Dash’s feed.

  • Pat Loudoun

This is actually an important post. This whole DOMA/Prop 8 thing is directly attributable to Hollywood. We’ve had 10 years or more of gays being cute harmless little fuzzballs.

The funny thing is, blacks and hispanics have been put at the back of the bus behind the gay coalition. And they are only 4% of the country, if that.

    • LinTaylor

I always found it both funny and odd that Hollywood stars were always the strongest advocates of gay rights, and yet TV and movies still depict gays as comedic stereotypes for the purposes of a cheap laugh. Progressive?

      • FrankDrebinLives

Watching TV you would think LGBT made up about 45% of the population.

        • $1014973

Well, in their defense that is the percentage of the population of the hollywood crowd.

        • stratman51

I think they DO make up 45% of the White House; obama appointees, czars, etc.

    • Bathing Suit Area

blacks and hispanics can already get married.

  • grais

I get the strong feeling the whole thing’s just a publicity stunt.

  • http://twitter.com/lazypadawan lazypadawan

These people already have a child together. Guess marriage isn’t all that important to them anyway.

  • 1972patriot

I saw Bell on Ellen a few weeks ago discussing this issue… I walked away thinking ‘God bless her ignorant little heart’.

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

According to Kristen, THIS ==> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ggq6wFUw2FU
is THE moment of her entire life. Who gives a crap about marriage to another human, when there are sloths to be had.

    • Bathing Suit Area

      Sloths are adorable.

  • C-Saw

    who ?

  • FrankDrebinLives

Yay!!! Two D list actors I’ve never heard of can finally get married because they had some stupid self imposed excuse so they could probably keep living together. Wedding in 3 months, impending divorce due to irreconcilable differences in 9 months. Congratulations!!!

    • http://whatandever.blogspot.com/ Osumashi Kinyobe

That’s what I was thinking. It was never about principle but their own silly, little ends.

  • $29561723

Who the f()ck are these people?

    • MarcusFenix

Bell is best know for the lead character in “Veronica Mars”…and she was also in “Heroes” for about 10 or so episodes i think.

    • Bathing Suit Area

      Google is your friend.

  • rimpy

wait- they are both boys? Or both girls?
    or just stupid democrats?

  • PeriMedic

When my parents married 73 years ago, it was the most serious and important decision they ever made. It was a decision for life; their lives, so they didn’t place ridiculous conditions on it, like “When there are no more breadlines, or when Hitler is deposed”. It was a personal and intimate decision between two people, no one else. And that life decision lasted 61 years until my father died with her beside him. And 12 years on, she still misses him deeply. Marriage is not a joke or a political statement, or something to do because you’re bored. That’s why they are ridicuouls and we (I) don’t take them seriously.

    • http://whatandever.blogspot.com/ Osumashi Kinyobe

      Thank you.

That was a lovely account of your parents.

  • $1014973

I would have never guessed she was a guy. Damn, used to think she was cute. Oh well, at least he and Dax can get married now.

  • http://whatandever.blogspot.com/ Osumashi Kinyobe

Anyone promising to marry once this legal travesty takes hold is not doing so out of conviction but to show the world how “caring” they think they are. Some people are honest with themselves and admit that they are terrified of the commitment traditional marriage asks them to make.

  • Oxbow

The only thing deader than DOMA is Bell’s career.

  • Jim Rasmussen

“big, gay marriage”?? Dax seems a little confused.

  • Cozy Powell III

“Dax” is apparently an abbreviation for “douchebag”. That guy is a total asshat.

  • jghdj

i love how Kristen Bell does not know that Prop 8 was not about the right to marry, but about the right to call a ‘registered domestic partnership’ a ‘marriage’… gay marriage has been legal in california since 2007 and is exactly equal to a ‘marriage’ in legal rights and duties…
