Meltdown of the day: Melissa Harris-Perry laments loss of citizenship after SCOTUS’ VRA decision

Oh, Melissa Harris-Perry, thank you! We haven’t laughed so hard since … since your fellow MSNBC host Chris Hayes became “physically enraged” by the Supreme Court’s ruling that Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act is unconstitutional. The decision is a threat to her very citizenship?

Lean forward … into giggle fits.

Perhaps eternally “persecuted” village idiot Harris-Perry is just disappointed SCOTUS didn’t declare children assets of the collective?

This time, the stupid really does burn.

Oh, just wait. Never underestimate the ability of the Left to induce new extremes in eye-rolling.

  • BoscoBolt

You’re an idiot. That MSNBC idiot Melissa Harris-Perry is twisting what SCOTUS was really voting about. Shows you’re the low info voter.

        • BlahBlah

She isn’t twisting anything. The text was too complex and the sentences too long for her to understand. Oh look shiny.

Here’s one you can make out of common household ingredients :
        Vaseline, 2ozs
Chlorine bleach, pool strength, just a bit
        Muratic acid, pool strength, ditto
Red dye, #40 to your color preference.
Mix them up completely, apply to problem area, and rub furiously.
No thanks needed & repeat as necessary…..

SHE has no idea what she is talking about, so how could we?

    • Ty in TX

Sadly I do. Leading up to this decision, the Crew over at MSNBC have been driving themselves nearly apoplectic trying to convince anyone who’d listen for than 3 secs that allowing southern states the freedom to make changes to their voting laws similar to some made by northern states, but not have to go on bended knee -with hat in hand too mind you- would unleash the inner KKK member lurking in the heart of all Southerners. So now they all need to double down on the nonsense and rhetoric they’ve been spewing. Ignoring the facts. Ignoring that voter oppression has been more of an issue in northern states. And ignoring the fact that it’s high time to give the southern states a chance to show they have changed. Which they have. And I realize you probably sad that in sarcasm, but I just needed to say that. :)

      • mickeyco

Very nice, Ty. But as you told me, you sound too intelligent. Dummy it down.

          • mickeyco

We’ll all just have to watch ourselves. Don’t want them to have to rethink their prejudices. You know, if we read one of Bathing Suit Area’s or Rinodino’s posts before we write, that might help.

          Isn’t that the God-awful truth!!

          • RazzBarry1

Yes it is. I wouldn’t mind them so much if they didn’t, as soon as they get here, as with the illegal immigrants, try to change us to what they ran away from.

At some point, the baby boomer generation that created this mess is going to be shocked to learn that the gen x’ers and millennials living in the south don’t want to play their game anymore.

    • redheadgrl

Or more likely, they will be shocked that they spent all the money in the coffers and there will be none left for their medical care as they age…..

      • Sean

I think the older generations have given us enough evidence to the contrary. They’ll simply take more for themselves in the form of taxes and “fines” on working Americans to maintain their promise of a stable 30 years in retirement. I just hope my generation doesn’t start making deals for ourselves on the backs of our grand kids.

        • rbeccah

Relax. We Boomers also have children and grandchildren, and in some cases, great-grandchildren that we don’t want to be saddled with crushing debt and lowered expectations for life. The people you’re talking about mostly reside in coastal enclaves of childless elites, not the vast middle-class in flyover country.

          • Sean

If that were true this administration wouldn’t exist.

          • Billie Slash

Sean, if you had the foresight to look at voting demographics, people in the 45-70 age group were the majority who voted Republican. “This administration” got the overwhelming support of you younger folks.

          • Sean

Obama didn’t win because of the youth vote this time, he won because the older Republicans and Conservatives didn’t get out to vote against him.

          • Marjorie

            So sad but so true.

          • audieho

Right on Sean. Right on. And there were two main reasons why they didn’t get out and vote: a) they wanted people to think they were cool by not going against the mighty Obama, and b) they feared that which they know nothing about – the fact that Romney was a Mormon. Up until this past election I always thought “idiot” was synonymous with Democrat but the Republicans who stayed home proved I was wrong.

          • Grant

While I voted for Romney (and I was 28 in November) I think most conservatives and conservative Republicans that stayed home did so not because of his Mormonism, but because they were not convinced of Romney’s conservatism. When the GOP puts up blatantly obvious conservatives, we win.

          • audieho

Wow. You give them less credit in the brains department than even I did. If that is true, that means they were willing to let a far left Liberal win because the Conservative the GOP picked wasn’t “conservative enough” for them. That is truly moronic, but you may be right.

          • Sean

If that were true this administration wouldn’t exist.

“I just hope my generation doesn’t start making deals for ourselves on the backs of our grand kids.”

Boomers already spent all the money that still had value.

        • tallron

This baby boomer understands that Social Security is a humongous Ponzi scheme that is absolutely unsustainable.

          • Billie Slash

Of course its a Ponzi scheme. Is that the fault of those of us who have been paying into it for 35+years, realizing we may not get it back?? And we’re blamed by these young idiots for “spending all the money”? Baloney!

          • Clete Torres

        • Zane Henry

This comment smacks of paid, liberal agent provocateur. Go back to fox news with this garbage. Attack on content, not on racist stereotypes.,

          • Moto

I don’t see how stating the plain truth can be considered racist. I also don’t see how working hard to conserve a towering empire of lies so the left can keep coming back to it to bash its opponents with is helpful at all to Americans.

I am attacking on the same terms the left uses to attack me. You know it,I know it, they know it.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If they can call me “primitive”,”unevolved”,”pale”,”bland”,”knuckledragger” just based on my race and sex (and on stereotypes that aren’t even TRUE about white males generally) before they know anything about me, why is it racist for me to state things that are actually provably and observably true about them?

How is it helpful to non-leftists to act as if the left’s charges of racism have any more validity than their demonstrably false stereotypes about white male voters?

          • Zane Henry

so, to sum up, the solution to the substance-less vitriol is more vitriol, with less substance?

        • rambler

No President that is a decent American……… there is soooo much there, but I’ll move to summing it all up to the Chicago thug machine. Welcome to the status quo in Chicago. Threats and revenge have been taken to a fine science there and now ALL of that resides at 16 Penn Ave.

          • Adela Wagner

So true, hey if it has worked for all these decades in Chicago…why change tactics now, just polish them up a bit and the Lemmings will go after the shiny every time.

          • rambler

It works in Chicago because most there don’t even see what goes on. Remember when Blago said he had done nothing wrong? He did what everyone did before him, except he got exposed for doing it. Now, what wors in Chicago on a small scale tends to not work as well on a larger scale because too many people will see it as thuggery. All the current DC scandals are surfacing in spite of the heavy handed Chicago tactics.

Anyone who is against America should be deported and their citizenship revoke. It’s the left trying to silence the opposition. They want us to quietly sit and enjoy as they turn us into a socialist welfare state that will eventually collapse because socialism doesn’t work.

      • Moto

No one’s being silenced. The correct whine you’re looking for here is “political disenfranchisement”. Which,of course, would be a perfectly fair thing for anyone here to propose for Harris-Perry because Obama (the one she voted for because he’s black like her) nominated a guy for Housing secretary that said the same thing about white people as a group.

Said we should be disenfranchised because “dey so rayciss” or something like that and we couldn’t apply democracy fairly. It struck me as a fairly hilarious charge that the group of people who invented democracy couldn’t be trusted to apply it fairly, while someone from a group that still practices cannibalism fairly regularly and still burns people alive or dismembers women with machetes who are suspected of WITCHCRAFT without giving them a right to a trial or appeal was a more acceptable arbiter of fairness.

Idiots like yourself were probably nodding your heads emphatically to his words,or would be if you heard them, blissfully ignorant of the delicious irony afforded to your mentally-active betters by your clueless behavior.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sanddog Ms Anonymous

      The local mental health center?

    • mickeyco

They must have a supply of them in a cave. They just bring one up as needed.

    • Noah

and why do they keep putting them on my TV?

      • rambler

Arm yourself with the mute button and use it often.

    • rambler

Journalism schools, where the stupid go to get air time.

    • RedSoloCup

Looney Bin. Or the PC name “Mental Health Center”.

  • Mark81150

Yeah,.. because keeping the feds from presuming guilt ahead of time makes her just so uncomfortable..

The last bastion of racism is the race baiting pimp industry she and that scumbag Sharpton belong too. Keep on being hysterical lady,.. how else to convince black Americans they NEED your protection, if there isn’t raging racism to suppress?

another drama diva, dealing in imitation outrage over nothing..

She’s gotta keep the black voting block terrified, else they might try and actually think, instead of leap to her knee jerk over done outrage.

    • DaPicayune

She’s got to do her part to keep’em distracted long enough for their Dem Socialist Overlords to sell them out for the illegal Hispanic voters in their Shamnesty Bill now.

  • Michelle

    Go home Melissa, you’re drunk.

    • therantinggeek

      Drunk is an understatement, innit?

    • NRPax

Take her keys and call her a cab first.

    • john gill

That’s the best you got? lol….Try and understand her point ov view….She is from the south,so I am sure her family has seen the segregation take place when it comes to voting…..This is just another step back in American excellence……It is what it is..the south has oppressed blacks in the past..To somehow think that ,thats all changed now,is ridiculous…..just turn on the news and you see the disfunction of southern states every day..

      • NRPax

So how many more generations have to be punished until liberals like you are happy? Oh wait…liberals like you are never happy.

        • Bathing Suit Area

Exactly what punishment are you suffering here?

          • NRPax

Reading comprehension isn’t a friend of yours, is it?

You mean like the black panther voter intimidation in that southern state of . . . Pennsylvania?

      • Ray

        Not at all true.

      • rambler

Guess you forgot about the dixiecrats, Johnson’s real reason for the war on poverty and a bunch of other current dem policies. How many minority congressmen from heavily gerrymandered dem districts have made in statewide elections for anything? How many have made in on the national stage? They are trapped in their districts. Without the Chicago thug machine, Maobama would never have gotten out of IL.

      • Noah

yep, nothing dysfunctional about those northern states, I tell you what.
Nope, no gun violence or racism going on there. you bet yer bippy!! /s

      • Noah

by the by, I think it’s “dysfunctional” not “disfunctional”
but what would I know? i’m just one of them disfunctional, racist, southerners.

      • John Rebori

So why does it also punish Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx. Which of those parts of NYC are in the South?

      • DaPicayune

M Hyphen P is from Chicago and is 50% White,… so try getting your facts straight before your emotions make you appear even more ignorant.

Ya better do something about Bankrupt/crime ridden Detroit, a Black Dem Union bastion, before falsely attacking the “solvent” Southern States, or don’t you believe that the 14th Amendment applies to all States equally, as our SCOTUS does now?

        • mickeyco

Oh, heaven help me. Not another Chicago idiot. I always feel like I have to apologize for living here.

      • Michelle

“the south has oppressed blacks in the past.” Period. End of story. In the past. Folks like you are the ones who keep racism alive and thriving. The left is mighty skilled at usually calling the right “fear mongers” without even realizing they’re the ones who do it. You absolutely must keep racism alive and keep people in fear of being victims because it’s what the Democratic party survives on. As the playing field becomes more level and Americans are treated as and act as Americans first and foremost, without demanding special treatment based on their race, the quicker we’ll see “racism” fade away.

        • mickeyco

          Excellent, Michelle.

        • Bathing Suit Area

“As the playing field becomes more level”
So black people are on average equally successful with white people these days, right?

          • TexSizzle

No, because of the liberal Democratics’ actions to keep them subservient.

      • Ronald Green

    • john gill

racism is over/dead, no longeer exists?? lol….cmon, you really going to try and push that b.s..if that was the case, then the final decision should have been 9-0, not 5-4

      • Stephen L. Hall

I never said any such nonsense. Do not try to put words in my mouth.

Democrats were behind the voting gerrymandering problems, they are not still in control of these southern states. Can’t perpetually blame current Republicans for the past sins of Democrats.

        • Michael Anderson (WB)

Sure they can perpetually blame Republicans for the sins of the Democrats. It’s worked for 50 years so far.

Must have an identity crisis or is there a message here as to what students she prefers so she can spew her liberal, racial, victim Afro-American dogma in a Southern setting!

    • rambler

She went to college on affirmative action and found her inner minority by majoring in modern effects of victimhood.

Sadly, that is what is happening in the ‘Black Studies” classes being taught in most of these schools.

  • ObamaFail

THe liberal idiots spinning this into racism are showing their stupidity. They are acting as if black people won’t be allowed to vote anymore or something. This is what SCOTUS voted on, ”

The Supreme Court today struck down a key provision of the landmark 1965
Voting Rights Act which allowed the federal government to determine which states
and counties can change voting laws and procedures.

Giving the federal government less authority over states isn’t that big of a deal. Besides, libs won’t say anything if this is used to deny conservatives the right to vote in some areas. And libs can’t pretend that wouldn’t happen. We’ve already seen liberals using government agencies to persecute conservatives and Christians. And if any minorities are refused the right to vote in areas, it’ll be self-labeled black conservatives living in liberal cities.

  • $38343398

  • Cajun

Many of you keep calling this fool woman a “liberal”. Listen closely, calling her a “liberal” is incorrect, she is not that deep of a thinker. A real “liberal” really believes in their ideology, from the heart. This woman is nothing more than a “give my people some free stuff, we deserve it, affirmative action showpiece, gutter snipe, obamaphone talking trash, DEMOCRAT! Don’t confuse this woman with a real liberal, cause if Republicans came up with a plan to double welfare, approve all abortions to term, and fire all whites in favor of non-whites, she would switch in a minute. Believe that.

Whyis the republican party(which claims its the civil rights party) constantly attacking the voting rights act? Why are the conservative republican justices voting against any provision of the voting rights act? This is just one example that proves that the republican party is the civil rights party is false.

    • rambler

Nope, you have it all wrong. Why was the voting act necessary in the first place? DEMS! Through out history it has been the dems. If it hadn’t been for Woodrow Wilson and his re-segregation policies, the civil rights movement would not have been necessary. The dem party has had more bigots and racists in it and gets a pass from those who refuse to research history, preferring to take the dem talking points nonsense for actual facts.

    • http://www.black-and-right.com/ IceColdTroll

Why is the democrat Party — which claims it is (not “its”) the progress party, constantly attacking any actual, substantive, change?

    • Marvin Nelson

Do you still live in the 1960s. Data over the past forty years show a dramatic change in voter registration percentages. Why don’t you do a little homework instead of acting like a typical Dumbocrat libtard and immediately attacking with implications that conservatives are racist?

  • Smokey Behr

I don’t have enough faces or palms for the amount of facepalm MHP’s tweet requires.

So if she’s not a citizen any more, can we deport her to somewhere she’d be more comfortable, like Cuba or Venezuela?

  • Christopher Richey

What’s worse is that this has nothing to do with black voter oppression. This has to do with blocking the immediate and unregistered voting opportunity offered to the illegal immigrants in the Amnesty Bill. The SCOTUS is heading it off at the pass.

Conservative policy making summed up: “I don’t understand the topic, but if they’re for it then I’m against it!”

  • NRPax

This might come as a surprise, but the Civil War ended over a century ago. Now maybe you prefer having one group of states being forced to live under a different set of rules than others but that’s not the way things work around here.

  • Karl Winrich

And talk about the bigotted response? Just like a liberal whom holds to be the “great party of civil liberties” still clinging to their great past with Jim Crow era laws and racial segregation.

Section 4 used a formula that is more than 50 years old and was based on practices that have been abolished for more than 40 years, as well as the fact that the disparity in the voting rates in those 9 states is now at parity with the rest of the nation. Between S4 and S5 of the VRA there are now 9 states that are singled out of 50 that can no longer be stated to have equal sovereignty granted to the remaining states and creates an unconstitutional situation by simply remaining on the books.

So if the liberals want to retain their chains on the past then they need to rewrite S4 of the VRA to reflect the current demographics. Unfortunately for them with voting rates at parity there is no way to continue S4 and without S4 S5 will fall as well.

So simply give us all a rest and allow those states that have been trying to clear confirmed dead voters from the voting rolls to do so and quit crying that the democrats will no longer be able to stuff the ballot boxes at election time.

  • shalna

You remind me of a sticky booger that you just can’t flick.

  • Bathing Suit Area

“practices that have been abolished for more than 40 years” Because of the VRA.

  • John Rebori

So you think that the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan will suddenly start disenfranchising minorities?

  • Karl Winrich

Yes, the VRA did what it was initially intended to do, but it’s intended results have been achieved so there is no longer any requirement for it.

  • NRPax

So once again, liberals are convinced that minorities are helpless little victims. Kind of sad that you can’t evolve.

Do I detect a bit of butt hurt here?
Hmm…Lets see now, if red state Texas was it’s own country it would be something like the worlds 4th largest economy….Hardly sounds like they need the funding from those blue states.

  • NRPax

Hm. You know, I can’t find any place that says that proms fall under the federal government’s control. And what’s even neater? You do some basic research and you find out that the prom you are referring to was one town with a population of about 2100. But I guess in your eyes, it’s OK to say all people are alike when it’s the right group.

Racism is still alive but it’s nowhere near as bad as it used to be. Cool attempt though.

  • Clete Torres

“yep the civil war ended over a century ago, everything is good now, let’s have a toast for no more racism!!!!

  • Noah

if there are still segregated proms in Mississippi, it’s probably white democrats that approved of it.

you people truly do live in your own world…. there is a reason why the south is entirely RED now, and it has to do with Voting Rights, Affirmative action and immigration, something championed by the dems and liberals for over 30 years… something southern white Democrats would have hated 50-60 years ago… so in all your fringe wisdom, you think those type of southern dixiecrats and those that think like them stuck around with the Dems party? or maybe, JUST MAYBE they actually found a party that in 2013 doesn’t like the voting rights bills, the affirmative action laws or immigration laws? Yes I know it’s hard to tell which side of the arguement racist and bigots would side with, but I’m sure if you think real hard, you will know why the south is BLOOD RED now

  • NRPax

So why do so many minorities migrate from Blue States to Red ones? Is it because they are racist or they don’t feel like living under failed policies?

  • Stephen L. Hall

Because Republican efforts to support fair and just elections and voting right for actual citizens rather than padded by illegals and dead people over the last 150 years have paid off in having a positive influence throughout the south, but the northern states and west coast states have came to ignore their own racism by condescending to the south.

The thing you libs always forget is,just because one goes to post-secondary no matter how high, does not make them universally intelligent, just in what they learned through the courses they take.Or like Obama, they can test well in constitutional law but completely suck at it in real life situations.

There are plenty of idiot professors in the Ivy League. I know.

  • AlecJ

Actually yes. A man who created wealth for hundreds of people and is the owner of an actual business is obviously smarter than a woman who has done nothing but hide from reality on a college campus while never having to do anything but give her opinion in front of a group of like minded liberals.

MHP is barely marketable idiot. She plays cute while standing next to drunks and fools. If she didnt help the whitest network on TV with their diversity problem, even the execs at MSNBC wouldnt want her.

  • RedSoloCup

Aww, is one of MHP’s 3 viewers going to throw a temper tantrum?

  • Noah

Which completely undercuts your claim that the south is racist.

  • GaryTheBrave

They won in the PREVIOUS century. Thanks for playing.

Where do you think you’ll get in life with an attitude like that? Nobody respects a person who goes around leaving comments with mismatched parentheses.

  • Karl Winrich

Just a question…What the H*LL does Aurora shooter James Holmes have to do with the VRA??

Right now he’s currently in criminal custody and undergoing trial, and with the overwhelming evidence against him he’s more than likely going to prison as a convicted felon. So he has forever forfeited his right to bear a firearm again, and if he ever gets out and caught with one again he goes straight back to prison.

But this kind of deliberate misdirection and change of topic is what I’ve come to expect from progressives.

    OFGS…if you’re going to post…use common sense.

And an extremely poop analogy it was to, considering as how the two aren’t even remotely related.
