Was this a spring break event?

    • twinx

No. It was Marina Del Rey being Marina Del Rey.

      • KansasGirl

        So, does this happen often?

        • twinx

Mostly in next-door Venice Beach. Not safe there. Lots of gangsta activity.

          • KansasGirl

Such a beautiful location, it’s a shame people have to act out…and ruin it for all.

        • camnpat

It doesn’t. But from time to time certain gangs have come from nearby areas (like Venice) and started trouble between them on a Saturday night. It’s been very rare and Marina is a pretty safe place compared to many nearby areas., but without a clear boundary with other cities around you get some of this occasionally.

          • KansasGirl

            Thanks.
            Is California a carry state?

          • camnpat

Yes. You can get a permit for concealed carry. Only licenses from CA are recognized.

With that said, while on its surface the process of obtaining a gun and license seems pretty standard, I have not experienced it first hand to tell you how straightforward or difficult it is to have it issued.

          • KansasGirl

You should get one…Kansas just passed a law that recognizes all states “carry” laws.

          • camnpat

I’m planning on and determined to. 😉 I’ll be moving soon so I was waiting to do that in the proper State.

Cool news about Kansas, on the other hand.

          • KansasGirl

You would be surprised what east Kansas has to offer.
I’m 2 hours from the Ozarks, where a person could become invisible.
Oklahoma to the south, which has the same beauty as the Ozarks.
There is deer, trout, catfish, turkey and caves that only locals know about (but won’t divulge) to outsiders.
I feel safer than most places when the SHTF.
I hope the same for you friend.

          • camnpat

Thanks! That’s is a lovely picture you painted of Kansas…. though I am disappointed you are not divulging the secret caves!!! ;D

But in all seriousness I wouldn’t be surprised of what you say because I know the beauty, in every sense of the word, that exists in the middle of the country.

Best wishes to you too my friend.

I understand that it’s easier in some counties than others. And in Los Angeles county, it’s almost impossible unless you’re rich or politically connected. Kinda like here in Maryland. But there are some counties that it’s easier for average citizens. I think San Diego county was one of the better ones, and the inland/rural areas for sure.

          • camnpat

Yeah. Overall guns are not banned statewide and by law, outside of specifics of the law which mimics what many other states have, it comes down to the discretion of the local sheriff to issue the permits. Like you said, though, in LA county they are de facto banned. It certainly becomes a more normal process the more you get outside of liberal strongholds down the coastline.

          • Rusty Shackleford

Our law for the need to show “good and substantial cause” in Maryland was struck down by a federal judge, upheld by another court, and will hopefully be going to SCOTUS before POTUS has a chance to put another grabber on the bench. I keep saying if I could carry legally I’d move back to Baltimore. It’d be a great city if you could defend yourself! Which I can imagine is like LA. Except ya’ll have much better weather =)

It’s called Mother’s Beach cause it’s so tranquil, you can take your Mom there on Sunday, but only if your Mom enjoys getting a 2 L bottle of Stoli broken on her dome.

  • redc1c4

    I’ve always had the impression that the Marina Del Ray/Venice Beach area was a cool, diverse place to “Hang out”…Maybe they should’ve had the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sugar Ray and Weezer play there….Passing the Kutchie for the white people… but NOOOOO, it’s KING FINK OBAMA VOTERS ONLY! And this is what happens…. #MusicTriviaTime #RightWard Jawamax 8<{D}

I WAS AT THIS GATHERING until the police broke it up, which was till the end. There was no brawl nor anything even close to being even considered as violent behavior. I was honestly not shocked when they made the blacks leave and let every other parties not of African descent stay, but to report it as a “brawl” to justify removing us from the area instead of being honest and saying you just don’t want to see black faces in your upscale neighborhood, is a huge slap in the face! WHY ISNT THERE ANY NEWS FOOTAGE OF THIS “BRAWL”?? NOTHING ON YOUTUBE?? THERE WAS NO BRAWL!!! Look at how the media portrays us! As savages and hoods! We’re modern day pirates according to the media! Other races walk in groups and they’re GROUPS! Black’s walk in groups and we’re GANGS! OF COURSE we have our bad apples, but who’s race here doesn’t!? Why are WE ALWAYS being seen in or used in a negative connotation??? Look up “the most hated race in America” on your favorite search engine and on the very top of the list, BLACKS!! These are ACTUAL STATISTICS!! All the other immigrants escaped their nationalities place of oppression and came here… WE NEVER LEFT!

    • James Adams

It’ll never change as long as the bad aspects of our group are celebrated in song and cinema by our own people. When we stop demanding gov’t do something when we have more than enough wealthy black folks to make a change. When we do something to reverse the 70% single parent households. http://wtvr.com/2013/06/10/60-percent-of-richmond-families-single-parent/ Stop allowing liberals to continue to portray us as victims. When we stop using up all our resources defending the criminal acts of our people and pour it all on encouraging and investing in what’s good. Nothing will change until we change ourselves. But if you feel so convicted that a wrong was perpetrated, get off your butt and take legal action against those acting as you indicated. Your they, them accusations is foolishness.

And by the way you are mixing your comparison of race with nationality. They are two different issues. People fleeing from the south are not fleeing oppression, they are by an overwhelming majority economic refugees. Asians, primarily Chinese were just as oppressed as blacks and they are still here. Very few immigrants are fleeing oppression almost all are fleeing economic conditions, trying to get that American Dream,

Personally I have had enough of our people behaving badly. Every large gathering I have ever attended where Black folks were the host, always ended with violence. From California, Maryland, Virginia, New York, Massachusetts and Florida. I’ve been all over this land of ours. So until such gatherings can occur regularly without violence erupting, the stereotype will continue.
