‘That’s a relief’: Obama says he’ll leave office ‘at some point’ in the next three and a half years

This morning in San Jose, California, President Obama made some remarks about the recent IRS and NSA scandals, and he seemed unsure about when he would be leaving office:

Does Obama not know that his second term will officially end at noon on January 20, 2017, or was this some kind of Freudian expectation that one of many scandals could catch up with him?

Twitter speculates:

  • mickeyco

He knows he’s out 1/20/17. He doesn’t know what today is.

    • CatHerder

He knows where you can score some fine weed, though.

      • BlahBlah

I’ll have my dealer call his dealer.

        • BlahBlah

Oh silly me, I just typed this so I don’t have to actually make a call. LOLNSA

          • Right Wired

LOL. The NSA will steal your weed, and take it to the next IRS Conference.

          • BlahBlah

Hey NSA all my weed is in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. on the second floor, under the fake floor in the master bedroom closet. Unless Moochelle found it first while we were out golfing.

          • shimauma

That would explain why she is always stuffing her face.

    • MarcusFenix

He must have read this information somewhere in a paper, from one of the 57 states he previously visited.

  • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

    Prove it.

  • BlahBlah

    How soon is now?

    • Garth Haycock

My favorite song by The Smiths.

      • BlahBlah

That’s why I thought it appropriate.

  • ray

The sooner this racist benefit pimp leaves the better.

  • Clayton Grant

President Obama should leave a federal penitentiary in 25 to 30 years.

    • shimauma

My heart sees him in Leavenworth, clipping the grass with safety scissors and folding T-shirts into 6 inch squares. He will hoard the cigarette butts they make him pick up so he can sniff them at night while he lays on his cot and dreams about his old choom days.

He is reading this as we type…and I say, don’t let the door hit you in the…..

  • TocksNedlog

Hey, Obama, is Monday good for you? Because I can round up a few MILLION volunteers to help you pack.

    • ObamaFail

I’m free Monday. You know, because I’m unemployed and can’t find work because of his policies.

Nice thread but sad for us employed folks. I watch my neighbors mooch all day. I work, they sit on the front lawn collecting food stamps, housing vouchers etc and drive a Cadillac Escalade. Oh, and they are able bodied lesbians that could work.

          • Marjorie

Be careful nobody throws you under it!

Watching this video clip I have two observations, besides the obvious one of the “at some point” sounding like a trial balloon:

    1. The first time he says “Trust me” in the clip, he’s pushing his hand out in an almost “back off” type gesture. Where is the body language expert when we need her?

    2. The purpose of the “leaving” statement was to say that, as a private citizen, HE would be high on the target list of reading his emails or listening in on phone calls (!), but he has TRUST that all is OK. But, as always, it’s all about HIM.

Watch the video (about 4 min). It’s really weird.

    • bullet2354

Note how he struggles to find words. – He doesn’t know what is going on.

  • capisce

“When I hear about my last day in office on the news, I’ll know I can hit “snooze” more times the next morning than I did on 9/11/12″

  • el_polacko

he can’t form a coherent sentence without his teleprompter/notes and he doesn’t know exactly when his term ends…it’s because he plays chess while we are playing checkers, PEOPLE !!

  • VerminMcCann

There has never been another president who is this baffled by everyday events.

    • CDUB

I know, yet GW Bush was the idiot. Not perfect, but man I miss him.

  • KansasGirl

Not by choice…he KNOWS how great a despot he could be, if only given the chance.

  • Joe W.

Yep. The sooner the better. Can’t wait to see the perp walk and to see that fat Wookie trod on out of the White House with those free loading girls in tow.

    • Kevin Scott

Dude, leave the kids out of it. Not cool to rag on them.

      • mike_in_kosovo

      • ObamaFail

I don’t remember the left having a rule about leaving Bush’s daughters out of it.

        • Luigi

Gary, it’s what separates us from them.

          • Joe W.

            Maybe you…not me.

        • Joe W.

The Obama brats are spending our money exponentially faster than the Bush daughters ever dreamed of.

          • truebeliever101

They are dependent children with no control over the actions of the adults in their lives. They don’t even understand the big picture, I guarantee you. They’re kids focused on “kid stuff.”

          • Joe W.

You mean “kid’s stuff” like Cancun vacations, trips to Spain & Africa, as well as assorted soirees to Vail for a little skiing?? That kind of “kid’s stuff”….Wish I were a kid again….

        • truebeliever101

So now we play by their rules? No way. We’re better than that.

      • Joe W.

        Go to hell, “dude”…..

  • Discontentwliars

I’m not going to get too excited, since the truth isn’t high on Democrats list of values. We’ll just have to see what really happens, and keep a watchful eye.

  • Marcy Cook

I went out and bought a brand new calendar to mark the days.

  • j_sweetl

My boyfriend just reminded me that an early Obama exit would mean the introduction of President Biden and would that be better?

    • Garth Haycock

Yes. Biden may be a joke, but he’s not as big a pompous ass.

    • ObamaFail

My dad thinks Biden says the stupid stuff he does because he doesn’t trust Obama either, and he’s hoping he can embarrass Obama enough or spill something that will hurt Obama. Like the “our middle class has been buried the last 4 years by the government” line Biden made when campaigning for Obama’s re-election. My dad believed that Biden “accidentally” said that to hurt Obama’s chances.

    • ked5

yes actually it would. biden may not care much for ordinary americans, but he isn’t actively seeking the destruction of the united states.

    • Luigi

Biden is simply unintelligent. He is not actively malevolent.

  • tops116

Three-and-a-half? At the rate these scandals are coming (plus Obamacare being around the corner), Congressional Democrats may cut their losses and campaign on impeachment next year.

  • jebjr

Leave office sometime within the next 3 1/2 YEARS? I vote for him leaving in the next 3 1/2 HOURS! It can’t come soon enough.

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    Light your torches, load your guns, and sharpen your pitchforks….I don’t think he’s gonna go that easily, even though HE’S GOTTA GO! #RightWard Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Okie_pastor

“I will be leaving this office sometime in the next three and a half years.”. THANK GOD!!!!

  • RanierWest

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who caught that.

    • HARP2

      Me too.

  • GoSellCrazySomeplaceElse

He’ll read about the end of his term in the paper or pick it up on a Verizon call, maybe mine.

  • Turd Burglestein

No time like the present. Hint…hint…

  • vetgal1970

The only thing keeping him there NOW is the prospect of Biden as his successor.

  • OLLPOH # UnBanHana!!!!!!!

Today is Not soon enough and your resignation is very much appreciated, along with Biden, Holder, Reid, Pelosi and take your >mining of our lives< in its complete entirety and stick it where the sun don't shine.

  • Zefal

obama is going to give up golf in a couple years?

  • http://twitter.com/waltercwy waltercwy

I’m hoping Moochelle and the girls get tired of the publicity and force him into resigning so they can all live happily ever after in Hawaii on his POTUS pension, guarded by secret service for life. Good riddance.

  • David maley

He made a huge mistake here, when he says he would be on someones list to watch. He pretty much is letting us know he has a list with his political opponents on it. He thinks every one would act like he does.

    • nc

      You’re right. Projection!

  • JustLikeAnimals

We were watching the live presser and as soon as he said that I said to my wife, “That was an odd comment.”

  • bullet2354

    “President Biden”

Gee, I am not exactly sure if that is a step up or a step down?

  • bullet2354

Did you see the size of the EARS! mygawd – Oblahblah could just fly away at any minute.

  • Anthony Clay

he is consulting jane madison on the date, wondering why he cant find him on twitter

  • JustLikeAnimals

Scenario: Obama resigns before end of 2nd term. Biden completes the term. Obama runs in 2016 making the legal argument that he only served 1 complete term in office, and so is eligible for a 2nd term.

  • SheilaK

It was the teleprompter telegraphing it’s wishes
