Bam! Megyn Kelly crushes IRS victim-blaming creep Rep. McDermott; He sneers, screams ‘stop it!’

Good call! Yes, she did.

As Twitchy reported, Democrat Rep. McDermott blamed the IRS-targeted victims during Tuesday’s hearing. They totally had it coming, you see.

Watch the fierce and awesome Megyn Kelly destroy the creep known as Rep. McDermott:

No, she didn’t. Fox News’ Megyn Kelly refused to let him get away with his vile victim-blaming, no matter how hard he tried to backpedal.

So, what did he do next? Exposed his jackassery further and sneered in contempt at Ms. Kelly.

That’s right: War on women, much?

Then he tried to pat her on her “purty little head.”

Silly Megyn! You are just a girl and stuff.

Despicable.

Twitter users loved the epic exchange and heaped praise on the fantastic Megyn Kelly.

One can dream!

That they do. They can’t help exposing themselves over and over.

Amen. Fight like a girl? You betcha!

That pompous, arrogant, brain dead McDermott called one of those who testified a liar because he didn’t provide “proof” that his organization lost a $30000 donation due to not having tax exempt status. This a-hole needs to be removed from Ways and Means and sent packing back to Washington STATE, not DC. He is looking at the entire IRS scandal from an obviously partisan viewpoint. What a maroon!

    • Dan Thorpe

The thing that bothered me with the whole interview was his chuckling at the end when Megyn was really tearing into him. What a pompous, out of touch a hole. BTW just a tip for the future, its moron not maroon. Maroon is a color, moron =Jim McDermott

      • grais

His chuckling was reminiscent of Biden’s laughing during the debates.
There couldn’t be a more clear sign that they know they’re spouting bs, and they’re in a panic because everyone else knows it, too.

Guess you never watched the old Bugs Bunny cartoons. “Maroon”:was the term that he used for someone of less than average intelligence. Also, check this link:

        • stuckinIL4now

Yeah, I guess Dan had a deprived childhood watching all those liberal-slanted cartoons instead of a classic like Bugs.

        • tedlv

          So does Marvin.

      • http://www.FunDMental.com TheRealJackpineSavage

In this case, Maroon is correct.
It’s a line from Bugs Bunny cartoons.
When someone acted like a McDermott, Bugs would look at the camera and say, “What a Maroon”.

      • $31046492

Actually, I think that was a play on The Bugs Bunny Cartoon with the Martian but anyway.

The scandal to this clown is that conservative groups had the nerve to request tax-exempt status.

  • ThomasCollins1

I’m getting tired of hearing the word “targeted”. The IRS did a little bit better than “target”. They HIT over and over.

    • Craig Jacobs

I thought we couldn’t use the word targeted after the Giffords shooting?

  • Marvin Nelson

Great job, Meghan! He is probably still licking the area where you tore him a new one. Since he’s a Dumbocrat, his tongue can certainly reach that area. Keep the pressure on!!

Did you see him smile at the end of the interview? He thinks he won in that exchange. Those people are demented.

    • MissJames

He was smirking as the segment ended. He thinks he’s right and anyone who disagrees is dumb. He will never get it . The best thing is to ignore bullies like him. That’s what I tell my kids.

  • ThomasCollins1

The federal reserve board is the enemy. The IRS works for them. The poor look to the IRS and fed to extend the welfare state. The taxpayers are caught in between. The battle lines are now drawn. It’s the fed, their funny money, their hatchet-men at the IRS, versus the taxpayers.

    • boxerdoglover

Yes, they do, but none of them said “Wait a minute, this isn’t right, I won’t do it”. They are complicit in it also. I never obeyed a boss that felt it was right to harm or hurt people. There comes a time when you have to take a stand.

      • Jerry James

boxerdoglover, have you ever been audited by the irs??? Well, you don’t tell them that “I won’t do it”. They were doing what they needed to do, “legally”. And there you are blaming them, just like mcdermott did. Use some common sense, if you have any.

        • boxerdoglover

No, I haven’t. Besides, there’s a difference between legal and moral. When you don’t have a moral compass to go by then you can hide under “legal”. There are plenty of other jobs out there without having to bend your knee to them. Common sense tells you, if you have any, to do the right thing, if it’s fishy or wrong, you don’t do it, at the very least you walk away. And what you said to me, makes no sense at all. This wasn’t about auditing, it was about the government breaking the law and asking for information they had no right to under the Constitution and our laws and also about giving liberal groups their tax exempt status but not the conservative groups. Do you not get that? Don’t bother answering, I won’t read it.

          • ThomasCollins1

” When you don’t have a moral compass to go by then you can hide under “legal”.”

That’s a good point, I’ve never seen it put in quite that way. It explains why we went from natural law to positivist law. Liberals are always moaning that republicans are trying to legislate morality, when in fact that is the very basis of any law that can be called human.

        • Dwayne Jackson

I’m pretty sure Boxer was refering to IRS employee’s.

      • MissJames

In a large government bureaucracy, this is what happens. To speak up means you get demoted, lose your job, your benefits ,possibly blacklisted .
Whistleblowers in the Benghazi hearings were intimidated and threatened .Do you think someone even lower on the totem pole at the IRS would feel safe saying “no ,it’s wrong” ?

  • grais

Boy, did he sound stupid. ‘ FIRST I said that what happened to them was wrong, THEN I said it was their own damn fault ! Focus on what I said FIRST, not the fact that I blamed them for it.’

  • Garym

McDermott is THE epitome of why we need term limits.

    • ObamaFail

I really think there should be limits of 4 years for President and 4 years for Congress. 4 years for President because if we end up with a terrible president (like we have now), there would be no threat of being stuck with them for another term. And if Congressional members could only serve a max of 4 years, we would have been rid of Pelosi and Reid a long time ago.

      • Garym

I actually think 8 years maximum and a federal law stating that if you have held federal office, you are not allowed to join or engage in any lobbying for 8 years after your term(s) end. Corruption would hopefully be stifled.

        • tedlv

Nor should you be allowed employment with a government contractor.

The real problem is that government is too large and intrusive. The more self reliant citizens are, the less they need to rely on the government.

  • Clete Torres

McDermott: “That wasn’t under oath. People can say anything.”

Even being under oath means little in DC, it seems (cough*Holder cough*Lerner*cough).

    So what’s your point, McDermott?

  • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

    McDermott Assumed office,
January 3, 1989, today is 5 June 2013. That’s “24” years in the House of Representatives. He’s 76 years old, the legal age of retirement in this country is 65.

He is a member of the Progressive caucus. So he meant exactly what he said he thinks there are two standards one for Progressives and another for everyone else.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_Progressive_Caucus

There are only 68 declared members of the Progressive caucus in the House they are all Democrats and 1 declared Progressive in the Senate (Bernie Sanders Vermont self described Socialist). They are the minority of the Democrat party but they control the leadership. They are why all of these scandals have taken place. They are who the President of the U.S. has referred to as the “professional left”.

    • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

Check out the size of the progressive caucus that McDermott belongs to on this map showing their districts below. We are a center right country.

I can see November 2014 from my house.

      • MissJames

When politicians surround themselves with people who think like them ,they start to believe it’s TRUE. Doing it for 24 plus years is a sure way to stay out of touch.
I’m willing to bet Rep. from both parties were cringing when he was spewing during the hearing. It’s no secret the BIG liberal tax-exempt organizations were not targeted the way the conservative groups were and they know it’s not up for debate . The Dems would be sharing any evidence of this being a fair scrutiny of political leaning groups. It’s simply not there .
When he said they “opposed Obama’s healthcare plan” I was thinking ,isn’t that the point ? That’s what our country is based on, Free speech ,different views ,freedom of religion and all that ………I guess he believes that only groups that THINK LIKE HIM should be allowed a tax exempt status.

        • Anthony Clay

that is exactly what he believes, this pesky freedom of the press is getting in his way

    • camnpat

That explains why he gives the benefit of the doubt to the almighty government but not the people.

Sounds like what any sane person should do when they are on foxy news; instead of sitting there and taking it while the “NEWS HOST” is yelling, screaming and interupting them to score cheap ratings, scream back and tell them when THEY ARE WRONG

    • Turd Burglestein
    • mike_in_kosovo

As opposed to the “sane person” (boy, isn’t *that* a “tell” on what rino thinks is ‘sane’) scoring cheap points by blaming the victim in a Congressional hearing, perchance?
Thanks for proving yet *again* that you’re a #LowInfoLib.

      • rinodino

Yet I knew which polls were right and wrong last November, unlike some people

Probably only because you were one of the millions of fraudulent voters that are just now being indicted!

        • ObamaFail

Seeing as how Democrats are left and right being caught with evidence they committed voter fraud last November, I say that the real numbers would have been very different if the Dems hadn’t committed voter fraud. Because I haven’t heard of any Republicans being arrested for voter fraud lately. And recently, 2 people were indicted for using fraud to get Obama on the ballot in 2008. So Obama was only eligible because of FRAUD. Although, he’ a fraud, so the only way he could win is through fraud.

        • tops116

Guess you’ve also been reading the polls that say any Republicans are overreaching on the scandals, that Obama doesn’t bear responsibility and that Obamacare is super-popular. Oh wait…

    • MarcusFenix

so, you believe that McDermott was right? Or that the IRS was right? Sounds like you’re defending them, which isn’t the best position to defend at this point.

I didn’t really take away that Kelly was “yelling and screaming”, as much as trying to talk over someone who got called out on their BS and didn’t like it. Most people don’t like being made fools of, on national television no less.

FTR, most sane people don’t need a poll, much less have to reference them, to see corruption and stupidity from the Obama administration. You could just call them what they are….

    • Anthony Clay

yes defend the doddering old self-entitled drunk, the one that does not believe in the constitution

    • tops116

Yeah, cause that’s the best way to make your point: act like a doofus, get arrogant on live television and shout “stop it!” when you get asked difficult questions.

Oh well, nice try at deflecting from the scandal that Team Obama hung around all Democrats’ necks.

  • Marcy Cook

    • ObamaFail

Being a Democrat, and being as old as he is, I’d say back in the 60’s he probably marched around with a white hood on his head.

      • Neil Parker

Very good possibility considering it was the democratic party that was against the abolition of slavery and segregation. Unfortunately, the unlearned masses of democrats that are just after freebies do not realize it was the REPUBLICANS that gave slaves their freedom and later put an end to segregation. It is also unfortunate that they do not realize that the democrats are progressive socialists which is in itself the highest form of slavery which is the road that the progressives like Obama are trying to take us. Is it not ironic that it was the Africans who sold their one people into slavery and now it is the first African American president who is trying to do the same thing to them again and they cannot even see it!

      • ThomasCollins1

I think it’s more accurate to say that he DIDN’T participate in the war moratoria and other hippie fantasies and the civil rights movement. These people spend the rest of their lives trying to catch up, and embrace every lunatic idea that has “liberation” in it’s name,

You never want to get on the wrong side of Megyn Kelly. Was he really toting out one Liberal group as an example? Which was denied because they were political. He may be a part of the tax everything ( Churches and Charities ) cabal.

I’ve said it hundreds of times and I’ll type it here. We need term limits in Congress.

Short McDermott: “some questions were wrong but the bigger issue is that these conservative groups didn’t like answering questions”.

Short McDermott: “500+ conservative groups were classified for ‘extra scrutiny’ and their applications delayed for months if not years. Just as many progressive organizations were quickly approved. But one liberal organization was denied, so that disproves the idea of ‘targeting'”.

Short McDermott: “I stayed till the end of the meeting, so stop it!’.

Actually, you’ve hit on something! McDermott’s belief re needing to be under oath to be believable sorta explains Susan Rice and the rest of the regime. It needs pointing out though that for some in the Dem party an oath doesn’t rise to the occasion for truth telling.. (pick a Clinton).

Oh Megan, Megan, Megan after watching you rip that loser I feel I have to go to confession.

  • tinker_thinker

    Notice he isn’t under oath.

  • Jeni Henry Donahey

He said, “That wasn’t under oath. People can say anything.” A true politician showing us the guidelines that he & his ilk use to lie to us constantly. No oath, no truth. See how easily he places that darkness on the American people. Hate to state the obvious, Rep. McD, but most of us have no problem telling the truth in our daily lives, oath not required.

  • Rick Matson

Top Gun Kelly shot down McDermutt (No Spelling Error..lol) with laser sight criticism! Loved it too!

  • Roy Weiner

Protect this administration at all costs. Sound stupid, act stupid and speak like a moron..Yes this idiot Mcdermott did all that and more..We keep losing more and more of our country everyday with these kind of scum in power..

  • Steve Roberts

McDermott would have blamed the rape victim for going outside her house! He WAS JUST continuing THE SAME POLITCAL ATTACK of the IRS, and sounds like he was one of the persons requesting the IRS to attack in the 1st place! I even bet the Lefty organization he mentioned was not even a REAL one, but denied as an offset.

  • eeddggy

I watched the interview. She made him look like the jack arse he is.

  • Texan357

Wow. After actually watching the video, I have to say this man is an idiot, thinks Megyn Kelly and her audience are idiots, or both. I wish I had the patience to tear him apart. Good thing Megyn does.

  • Screaming Eagle

this is why the libs hate foxnews. the truth hurts.

  • Kenno

LEST WE FORGET: This is the same Weasel McDermott who broke the law in the early ’90’s when he released a secretly and illegally recorded conference call between Newt Gingrich and other Republicans during a strategy planning session.

  • Sparkle Plenty

Megyn, you rock! Pompous, arrogant blowhard McDermott got his ass whooped.

  • Michael Wilfong

It was amazing watching these conservative Americans speaking eloquently, clear, and concise about what had happened to them and exactly what transpired in their communication with the IRS, then to have a Democratic Senator stand up and create the scene from “Pinochio”. His ears got bigger, his head morphed, and he started braying. Why he decided to talk with Megyn Kelly is beyond me. Based on his statements, I guess he figured he could handle “the little lady”.

  • Jack Deth

Since when is a direct statement of opinion by Numb Nuts McDermott a “rhetorical” question?!!!!

Face it Jimmy, boy. You got your pee-pee whacked! HARD!!!

  • Lori Toupal

    WTG Megyn!

  • Howard Hines

McDermott is the dirtbag who criticized the US FROM BAGHDAD just before the war to throw Saddam Hussein to the dogs. What a progressive jerk! Meghn did an awesome job weeding thru his obfuscation.

  • Blargette

I particularly enjoyed how McDermitt tried to say that nobody was denied 501c-4 status and Megyn scoffed incredulously and pointed out that not granting the status is denial.

And then there was the part where he tried to say that TEA party people were just a pack of liars (you know – like him and those he mingles with). Unless TEA party people could provide signed affidavits by folks who wanted to donate but didn’t, then it did not happen. COULD NOT have happened. He is just so beyond smarmy.

PS – during the time when conservatives were being held in libo – CAIR got 501c-4 status. Sailed right thru to approval. Hmmm

  • John

We all know what McDermott said. He is backpedaling from his own statements very fast. The fact is that no liberal group was put to the same scrutiny that these conservative groups were.

  • FrankHerbert

    buh-buh-buh-buh….UHHHH… errmmmm….uhhhh….

  • http://twitter.com/suslynken Susan Kennedy

    Love Megyn Kelly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Random_Failures

Wow, what a breathtakingly arrogant jerk he is. It was so good to see Megyn take the backpedaling demagogue down so decisively.

  • caroljd

megyn proved this guy is a liar

  • vetgal1970

So the mere act of taking an oath is the measure of truthfulness? Odd that he would hang his hat on that considering the IG report proves that Lerner, Shulman, and Miller each have lied repeatedly over the last few years. Maybe he forgot why those witnesses were there in the first place, these were the people affected by the aforementioned LIARS and their serial lies. Or maybe he’s a putz. Shame on him.

How it is possible to interview someone whose head is shoved so far up his back-end?

  • http://www.shockandblog.com/ Jay McHue

I just about fell out of my chair laughing when he said “Stop it!”

    • 912er

I would never tell Megyn to stop it.

  • Red Fred

    Deplorable ass jack.

  • Cyrena

He sounded like my 4-yr-old when she is caught doing something wrong. “Stop it” “No I didn’t”

  • Mary Wyrick

Megan Kelly was right on. Senator Pomposity wouldn’t even listen to the other side.

  • habalady

time for another jerk to retire eh McDermott

  • rrpjr

Meh. I don’t think it was such a smackdown. A few mild questions. And she let him filibuster for more than half the interview. Based on the outrageousness of his performance yesterday, nowhere hear what was required. Disappointing.

    • vetgal1970

It seemed like she was intending to give him a chance to say he didn’t ‘mean’ to imply the witnesses were actually the guilty party. However once he doubled down on his opinion and then yelled at her, I believe she decided to just let him show the world how much of a hateful disrespectful ass he is. She used to do the same thing with Anthony Weiner, who was unfailingly disrespectful of her when he deigned to be interviewed.

  • sigzero

    McDermott is an idiot.

  • holdenf

McDermott would like to blow off any true accountability from the administration and go immediately to a “fix”, analogous to a technician fixing Mary Lincoln’s 18-minute tape gap, as if that somehow would have just made Nixon’s whole Watergate problem disappear.

  • Guest

How stupid must the constituents of his district be to keep electing Baghdad Jim? This moron is the used car salesman from hell.

I wonder if those voters are all even alive.

You are correct, he does look like a used car salesman.

  • 912er

When this donkey said what we must do now is make sure this never happens again,I wish Megyn had said no sir, what we must do now is charge some people with felonies.

    • tedlv

…AND make sure it never happens again.

  • Esther Nadel Yehezkel

McDermett sounds as if he’s turning everything around when questioned.
How dare he talk to Megyn Kelly as if she was a child.
Kudos to Megyn for not letting him get away with his double talk.

I live in WA State so,I know all about “Baghdad” McDermott and how worthless this man has been for years.

You should let the entire West coast of WA be its own state. Central and Eastern WA voters could then have their vote count.

  • r_coplin2001

I bet if the IRS were targeting liberal groups like Media Matters Congressman McDermott would be saying something totally different.Has any liberal said that Megyn Kelly was bullying Jim McDermott yet

  • Artie007

There is a BIGGER Problem being overlooked. None of these organizations should be given tax exempt status if they are not charitable organizations….period. Since when should politicat groups of any stripe be given tax breaks!!? I say “F” all of them…liberals, conservatives, tea partiers, religious knit wits etc. Let them fund their political agendas with their own money and without the aid of the IRS tax code, which is already F’d up beyond belief.

    • Macharius

While yes they are tax exempt, i think you’re thinking of a 501(c)3 under the IRS tax code. That is considered to be a tax exempt organization (or non-profit). WIth a 501(c)3 you are allowed to deduct your donations up to 50% (for certain organizations) of your AGI for tax purposes. a 501(c) 3 is not allowed to lobby for a particular group or individual. a 501(c)4 organization is a social welfare organization which is used by political groups are allowed to lobby and continue to spread their “message.” any money that they are given that does not meet their “goals” or “message” (primary operating stated goals) is to be taxed. Also any money given to a 501(c)4 organization is not deductible on your taxes (which is why many want the 501(c)3 status which they cannot lobby in legally). Basically it makes it easier to organize groups of people based on issues for the “social welfare” of others (tax reform, pro-life/choice, ending corruption in congress) what have you, without having to claim the money you have on taxes, massive organizational costs, DOL issues, volunteering costs (DOL issues i suppose) etc etc. But to say that all tax exempt statuses should be erased, is in my opinion misguided.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004697500362 John Smith

No, no one should be tax exempt.

        • beebop1952

How the hell do you think charities raise money? I know that CHARITTY is a foreign word (Joe Biden) to democrats, but you would think the concept might penetrate.

        • Macharius

So you argue that Churches should pay an income tax on donations to its cause? its more to it than just “you don’t pay tax” because if its not towards the mission of the organization they are required by law to pay federal and state taxes. In addition if they fail to meet their specified “non profit” status (i believe its what 30% must come from general public for 501(c)3 they have their licenses revoked (in theory). The second big issue is the accounting that goes on in a 501(c) status is much different than for-profit businesses as they have a “restricted asset” selection, which basically means they are required by law to do certain things before they can actually spend certain donations, meaning it gives the people who donate an extra lair of protection against, shall we say, inappropriate spending of contributed dollars.

    • beebop1952

Let’s take it back from George Soros, shall we?

  • L R

And the good news, Megyn, is that the citizens of this country are tired of putting up with jerks like him, and we will not go quietly into the silent majority wind any longer!!!

GOP rep: If the left cares so much about tax exemption being abused, why is Obama’s OFA group seeking exemption?
    http://hotair.com/archives/2013/06/04/gop-rep-if-the-left-cares-so-much-about-tax-exemption-being-abused-why-is-obamas-ofa-group-seeking-exemption/
Via Liberty News, why Issa and company haven’t been hammering this point since the first hearing on the IRS scandal, I’ll never understand. One of the left’s most persistent defenses of the agency over the past month, long before the memo came down about “GOP overreach,” is that the IRS was simply overzealous in a good cause. Too many groups are abusing tax exemption under section 501(c)(4), a provision designed for “social welfare” groups, by engaging in electoral activities while keeping their donors hush-hush. Here’s what the IRS says about the section:

The promotion of social welfare does not include direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. However, a section 501(c)(4) social welfare organization may engage in some political activities, so long as that is not its primary activity.

You can do a little politics on the side, but you can’t have it as your main purpose and you certainly can’t go to bat for a particular candidate. Which brings us to Aaron Schock and today’s hearing: If the left is so worried about penny-ante tea-party groups operating as political wolves in social-welfare sheep’s clothing, why is Obama’s own personal political water-carrying outfit, Organizing for Action, also seeking 501(c)(4) status?

    • Catchance

Great question. Crossroads GPS, Media Matters Action Network, The Center for American Progress Action Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund are all 501(c)4’s.

  • $35072932

He is obfuscating. The difference is that the liberal group was given immediate denial as they failed the test. They could move forward with an answer. The conservative groups were kept in limbo, and asked information the liberal group were not. What that tells me is that the liberal group was obviously not qualified for approval.

IT would not surprise me to find out that McDermott & fellow reps. are the source that told theIRS to target these groups.

  • Blake Stanton

He reminds me of Jay Carney and the tactics of others in the way he deflects and minimizes the comments of others when they question the veracity or legitimacy of their explanations and insights. He thinks that people should ask for something when they do not necessarily know that something exists for their benefit? They can use their First Amendment Rights? She is putting words in his mouth? Perhaps he needs to focus on speaking clearly and concisely. He is not coherent enough. These tax exemptions are only brought to the day of light for those who share political ideology with the current administration. They place the burden on people to know where something is when they do not even know about it or have the ability to conceive the existence of it for helping them. Why is it somebody’s obligation to figure out what they need when there are people with jobs that have the responsibility of letting people know what they need to know. There is nothing rhetorical about what McDermott said.
