Bam! Martha MacCallum after IRS testimony: Now we know where the Tea Party has gone

Yep. They were busy being targeted. Once again, Fox News’ Martha MacCallum sums things up in a couple of sentences.

Ms. MacCallum tweeted during the IRS hearing this morning.

As Twitchy reported, Tea Party leader Becky Gerritson gave powerful and emotional testimony. She also dropped a bombshell: She was directly contacted by Lois Lerner.

Citizens think MacCallum nailed it.

Chilling indeed.

Bombshell: 3 IRS-targeted groups contacted by Lerner; ‘Born free American woman’ Gerritson blasts ‘chilling’ IRS

Boom! Patriot Karen Kenney zings at IRS hearing: ‘We’re the San Fernando Valley Patriots, not Occupy Oakland’

Hmm: Something curious about timing of Obama’s statement, lack of IRS hearing coverage?

    The 5 stages of tyranny
    1. Wild-eyed conspiracy theorists!
    2. Something MAY have actually happened, but it’s coincidental. No conspiracy.
    3. Okay, something happened, and it’s dumb and outrageous!
    4. Wait, it wasn’t that bad, and they probably deserved it, anyway
    5. Yeah, it happened. It’s going to keep happening. Whatcha gonna do about it?

    • Texan357

      6. Let’s stop digging up the past. That was *SO* yesterday.

      • RblDiver

        7. But about that thing that YOU are alleged to have done, even if not proven/were acquitted of, 40 years ago, that shows YOU are a meanie evil person and are just vindictive etc.

        • Wrathful_Brunette

You beat me to it. LOL

          • nc

Are we on 8 or 9? Whatever, don’t forget: Both sides do it!

          • Wrathful_Brunette

If Repubs do something, it’s the end of the world. If Dems do the same thing, xgazillion, both sides do it; don’t be such a hypocrite!
Bush, warrantless wiretapping of overseas calls to terrorists= THE END OF AMERICA
Obama, blowing American citizens up with drones with no legal process whatsoever= *yawn*

        • Blargette

Plus, you called someone in government a name which is far worse than committing a crime against the people you swore to serve faithfully.

Plus, the press, our wtchgods against corruption in government says there is no “there” there.

Case closed. Move on. Shut up.

        • rimpy

8: give us their names or nobody will see you ever again

        • Texan357

          That’s an astute observation! Kudos!

The left CONSTANTLY responds to allegations of wrongdoing with “well, some Republican did something vaguely, if at all, similar.” That makes it OK. Really, as long as our villains are all engaged in the same villainy… WHAT? These are grade-school, ersatz “argumentation,” playground tactics. What infuriates me is that THEY WORK. It saddens me to admit that I think other nations are now justified, as of approximately November 2012 especially, in calling U.S. citizens idiots.

Then again, maybe it’s just Mickey Mouse. Doesn’t he vote early, often, and with dead certainty for a Democrat candidate?

I gotta kick this soapbox aside, or I’ll REALLY start going. :)

Did any Occupy group get exemptions? Just curious, you know, for SCIENCE n’ stuff.

  • AlmaAlma

Yeah, sure, the Tea Party were so irrelevant, that’s why the IRS were laser focused on them. Mmmhmmm.

  • Larchmonter445

The attack on the Tea Party was effective. Romney lost by only 400,000 votes in 8 key states. It was that close, not the national spread of 4 million. Repression of the grassroots and other tricks in the states made the difference between more Obama Cult versus Freedom.

Imagine the fresh air of a Romney, Anne, marriage between heteos, children over aborted fetuses, Capitalism, Small Business, less government, states running what are federalized programs, and honesty in high places.

Staten Island wouldn’t be abandoned, New Jersey would be back and doing well, and the economy would be revived (not just the stock market). Bernancke would be going away, and we would be marching toward budget reform, tax reform and sanity in D.C. Obamacare would be gone.

That ‘s some of what we lost when the IRS chilled the Tea Party and grassroots.

    • Lurker

So all the Tea Party folks targeted by the IRS decided not to vote?

      • Blargette

So groups effectively neutered and silenced is not voter suppression? Sorta like Black Panthers at the door of the polling place isn’t voter suppression?

You people look at the world thru a Alice in Wonderland viewfinder.

        • RogueRose

Hundreds of groups facing political oppression from a powerful govt agency and Lurker thinks their full, organized and well funded participation wouldn’t have made a difference. Ok, next election let’s do it to all the leftist organizations and see if he feels the same.

          • Lurker

LOL I’m not a commie pinko liberal, check my history of posts

Just wondering where all the Tea Partiers went

    • LightSabre

      You just made me cry.

    • floridaobserver

It wasn’t just the Tea Party, it was also the disenfranchised military. Goes way back to W’s elections….they called Florida early in the first one (2 time zones) and in both elections, a LOT of military ballots were not sent OR received.
It wasn’t the hanging chads, it was ignoring the military votes.
Still went on during 2008 AND 2012. Shameful AND evil.

  • Marcy Cook

The Tea Party was only temporarily silenced. These brave people are speaking up and more will come. And once you see the human faces of these people it will be harder and harder for the msm to vilify them. And the politicians sitting in that room with them? Well they better start treating these people better because they will ALL get their non-profit status now. Let the fundraising begin and let’s get these criminals in office out of office and into nice orange jumpsuits.

  • neoface

Strategy was to keep teaparty groups busy with harassing questions, as well as audits so they can’t interfere with the 2012 election. I guess it worked!!!

  • in_awe

Bottom line, the process to cleanse these agencies of the current gallery of rogues – high level and low – will work (for a time). What is not being addressed are:

    (1) the internally biased cultures of government bureaucracies where the non-political appointees are overwhelmingly liberal in their political leanings. I don’t know how we get parity across the political spectrum within these organizations but the flywheel of liberal workers survives elections and always ratchets in the liberal direction in deed and attitude.

    (2) the alarming attitude of our fellow citizens who are applauding the targeting by the federal government of other citizens for their political, moral, and ethical beliefs. They are so ignorant of history that they don’t see that this has played out before within living history:

First they came for the communists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Catholic.

    Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

The minister who spoke those words in 1946 had just been freed from 8 years in German concentration camps because he had been found insufficiently enthusiastic in his support of the Nazi regime. Rinse and repeat in the Soviet Union, the People’s Republic of China, the People’s Republic Vietnam, Cambodia, etc., etc.

    Our Founding Fathers are weeping.

  • in_awe

How about beginning each of these hearings with the assembled members of Congress rising, raising their right hands and repeating their oath of office:

    “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;

    – that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;

    – that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that

    – I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Where are the true Patriots in Congress these days? I wonder if the Dems would all arrive late to the hearings? Maybe latecomers should have to stand and recite it alone before they can proceed with a statement or question.

  • nc

The sad, and really frustrating truth, is really, at this point, what difference does it make? Don’t get me wrong, I want to find out every single dirty detail and nail to the wall every person up and down the line that thought up, ordered and participated in this scam. But an election was compromised, big donors were discouraged, ads weren’t run that might have influenced some LIVs, etc. And the results of that election are not going to change. The damage has been done.

That is why Fox News is # one.
And the tea party never went away, no matter the corruption of the Obama IRS, and the Obama press , who both tried to silence them.

Rep. Sander Levin (D-MI) “You are owed an apology.”

Typical weasel worded, passive voice statement.

Should be, “We owe you an apology.”
