Drudge editor Joseph Curl: ‘Hearing from some top Hill sources that IRS scandal about to explode’

According to Drudge editor and Washington Times columnist Joseph Curl, the IRS scandal is far from over. He says some of his top Hill sources told him that low-level agency workers aren’t happy about being blamed for misconduct and are about to “return fire” at higher-ups in Washington DC.

Moreover, one of Curl’s sources says there is a “paper trail to DC.” Not all the way to the White House, but “high” up.

Stay tuned.

          • MarleneMoulthrop

Didn’t reach the WH. The IRS is somewhat autonomous. Just let them investigate and get it over with. They are trying to distract us from the vital issues: immigration and tax reform, jobs, the budget, school loans etc. Only one bill has been passed through congress this year. Sad, sad, sad.

And you think that King Hussein is telling the truth ? Then I got some swam , er uh . land , to sell to you , and cheap too . The council were told back over 2 and a half months ago . You would tell the president of the trouble is coming this way . If they didn’t , I can’t recall her name but she’s the top lawyer for the W.H. , then either she’s incompetent , or King Hussein doesn’t understand what she said . Me thinks that they already picked a lackey to take the blame . And King Hussein will take the ” I didn’t know ” , as , well , like Holder , he have been told about so many things and can’t be blamed for one or two problems .

    Tip for Rep. Darrell Issa:
You are not my representative, and I am not your constituent. But, I wanted to say Thanks for your work on the IRS investigation, and say, “Don’t stoop to their level!” by calling anyone in the administration names. I understand your frustration, but don’t let them goad you into saying things that cheapen the investigation or its outcome. Let the facts be discovered and the chips fall where they may. (Charles Krauthammer volunteered to call Jay Carney names in your stead, so you are in good hands.)

I’m glad he did too, the whole don’t stoop to their level mentality has allowed Obama and his ilk to get away with far too much. Its time to start calling them as you see them. Carney is a well paid liar. He knows it, Issa knows it, You know it, I know it and most importantly, Obama knows it.

        • deepindaheart

He could have just said, ‘Jay Carney is paid to say what the Obama Administration tells him to say.’
same thing, without the ‘hot button’ word, liar.

          • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Why be a pansy about it? He is a liar and he is paid for it. People are under the false impression that liberals are going to give us a break just because we act nice. They aren’t. Conservatives need to grow some balls and hammer these a-holes when they are wrong like they do to us.

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Nah, I’m glad he did it. I’m so sick of the shrinking violet mentality of conservatives any more. I don’t care about being the party of civility, I care about the truth and if that rattles the liberal media’s cages then great.

      • Chris Chambers

Well, I am mixed really. I can relate, but I don’t want to see anyone involved in these hearings “wasting ammo” on unnecessary or trivial things, or making a comment that can be used for any other purpose than exposing the truth. I think the truth will be harsh enough if we can ever get to it.

        • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

We need to quit acting ashamed when we are right, that is what gives liberals the real ammo. We need to hit them back and call them out, that is how we illustrate that what these people are doing is wrong. Acting timid has never served us well and I believe is one of the many reasons Romney lost, he didn’t hit Obama back hard enough on his lies so nobody thought what he was doing was wrong. People always say they want civility, but what they really want is confidence.

        • poh

Lying cannot be an acceptable response. There should be repercussions, particularly for positions of responsibility. I hope Carney has kids. Some day they’ll see that comment and just might want to see what all prompted it. They will have to assess for themselves what they see and hear.

      • poh

Don’t be timid! He says what Carney really is. Yeah, it’s not the most refined description, but running from the truth emboldens evil. We can’t even call a liar a liar we’re so politically correct. It will become the ‘L’ word, the cousin of the ‘n’ word, half brother of the ‘b’ word. Meanwhile, were dying as a country.

    • Lotte Lenya

I think he intentionally did it to get the Dems off of their game. Issa doesn’t speak without purpose.

      • poh

Never thought of that. Would be great. Get the Dems to play the “hateful speech” card and focus on a PR campaign against the mean Republicans while they get caught abusing everyday citizens.

Obama is very quiet. His tone is very guarded.Don’t see him campaigning for his agenda much. Like he knows something very damaging is sitting out there, but even he is unsure where it’s at.

        • OneThinDime

You are right about Obama. He has shifted Newtown to “mental health” now. It’s his backdoor into gun control by claiming anyone seeking therapy, etc. shouldn’t own guns and then swoops in to confiscate He’s up to something.

    • OneThinDime

    • https://twitter.com/SmileyRoffle Smiley

Issa said it to get under their skin right at the right time, and it shows. Pretty soon IRS-Gate will “explode”, as per The Hill’s sources, and so he throws them a sudden fastball to distract from preparing for the worst.

Also helpful is that what he said isn’t even name calling. Carn-ball is just ridiculous by this point as he’s lying across three different scandals every day, sometimes so badly he’ll contradict himself moments later. Even the press now hates the guy, they would agree he’s a paid liar. Only the partisan libs will be upset, and they’ll never cooperate anyway.
As long as he’s not overdoing it, or worse, pulling a self-serving Karl Rove-style empty stunt.

Why? They do it to us all the time so who cares what they think? He was right, it is time to grow some balls and call these people out for once. The time for civility has passed, we have to stick it to them when we have the chance and the blowback proves that we have rattled them.

      • jackian6

Agreed time to call a spade a spade, everyone goes nuts when the L word comes up. I mean he has lied demonstrably many times already. There is no debate about, it its no longer conjecture.

        • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Exactly. What are we supposed to do here? Completely miss the opportunity to crush them when the evidence supports it?? Actually not even supporting, slapping us right in the damn face. The civility strategy is how the establishment thinks and it has lost us two damn elections in a row.

      • ObamaFail

Romney played civil last year while Obama and Biden was calling Romney a tax cheat and showing an actor playing Paul Ryan shoving an old woman off of a cliff, and look where that got us. Four more years of Obama’s crummy agenda. They accused Romney of killing a woman and other outlandish claims. Now we’re supposed to feel bad about Issa telling the truth about Carney? Carney is a paid liar. All press secretaries are. That’s why POTUS’ have them, so they can send someone else out to get grilled by the press instead of taking it themselves.

        • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Yep, it is time for conservative politicians to be as pissed off and angry about what is going on in this country as we are. Screw civility, I want action.

    • Belinda Henry

Why blame Carney he is just a paid mouth piece.

    • ObamaFail

I don’t know, nobody gets upset when libs run around accusing Conservatives of hating black people and wanting them back in chains. Issa was telling the truth. I don’t care that he didn’t pat Carney on his ass and give him a kiss on the cheek and tell him to keep up the good work. Someone needs to call these scumbags in the White House out for their crap. We are playing only as dirty as libs have played in the past. Although, I guess Issa would have been applauded had he accused someone of trying to kill grandma while depicting that person shoving an old lady off of a cliff, you know, like Obama did to Paul Ryan last year. Romney played civil last year, and it cost him the election. The kid gloves need to come off and stay off against the libs, because it’s going to be the only way to keep them from destroying everything we hold dear about this country and the Constitution.

    • colonialmarine

If I may be so bold as to paraphrase the eminent Dr. Krauthammer,

” Carney is not a paid liar, he’s just another one of the disproportionately underpaid women liars in the Obama White House”

      • thetreyman

i would go with the IRS as well. that would do more to get rid of corruption and cronyism than anything else. no favorites with the tax code, that would put a real damper on the progressive agenda.

      • ObamaFail

I’d rather see OBama go. The IRS is going to be under an eye of scrutiny for the rest of Obama’s term, especially if this kind of crap happens again. But if the source leads to Obama? That would be the best way to insure that the IRS couldn’t do it again, by getting rid of their biggest enabler.

      • tjp77

Yeah that’s a tough one. Probably the IRS. Obama is heading for lame-duck status quicker than most second term presidents, but the IRS will last forever unless we strike while the iron is hot.

      Hi, Chris:

Leaks are sometimes used as a form of immunization against future repercussions. It’s the left’s way of saying they were aware of something, but did nothing about it.

Just the fact that it was mentioned is usually enough, though this time it wasn’t (isn’t). And it backfired.

The White House is going to need all hands on deck from the media for the foreseeable future to keep Obama out of the spotlight. But with the IRS snooping on reporters, that creates a massive problem where one shouldn’t be.

Expect a lot more room to be made under the bus between now and 2016.

We still need to know why We The People were not told about this in April of 2012. How did these people manage to keep this under wraps for over a year???? Hmmm?

If the trail doesn’t end in the White House, that means the IRS is targeting the WH’s political enemies on their own accord. Think about that for a minute.

Either way, substantive reform of the tax code and the tax collecting arm of the gov’t must take place. The tax code is far too complicated and way too much power is held by IRS agents.

    • Kathy

6 Democratic senators wrote to the IRS about targeting conservative groups. Even if it can’t be traced to the White House, we know Al Franken and his “Buds” wanted it done. IRS small fries didn’t come up with this plan. They just followed orders.

    • Roto

Remember, it had absolutely nothing to do with the actual tax code.
      It was about election fraud.

      • Hank Scorpio

Maybe, maybe not. That is certainly a possible motivation here but that link has yet to be definitively established. I’m no Dem toadie but getting ahead of the facts tends to delude the ones you’ve established. It could just be that all the heated rhetoric from elected Dems in Washington seeped into the subconscious of IRS officials, who then acted on it.

Either way, simplifying the tax code and limiting the power IRS agents can potentially abuse is a good thing. I have no more faith in that vast majority of bureaucrats and elected officials than I do in the particular players in this particular situation. And as Rahm Emanuel said, “Never let a crisis go to waste”

        • Roto

Maybe? Ok, take this quiz — which of the following is from the 2013 Treasury Dept. IG’s Report, and which is from Nixon’s Articles of Impeachment?

          A) … the IRS used inappropriate information that identified for review organizations based upon their names or policy positions instead of indications of potential political campaign intervention and Treasury Regulations. Using names or policy positions is not an appropriate basis for identifying parties for review by the IRS.

          B) … endeavored to obtain from the IRS, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposes not authorized by law, and to cause, income tax audits or other income tax investigation to be initiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner.

i hope so……cuz there is no way this happened without upper management knowing…..

  • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

I’m sorry, but I’ve seen things like this fall flat or fall on deaf ears all too many times before to be too optimistic. The media will downplay and Obama will deflect as usual. But we should keep hammering and do what we can.

    • Osama0bama

With the number of deep scandals this clown and his henchmen have been piling up, the shiznit will get so deep it’s going to hit the fan! It is about to come very clear to most Americans (the low information 0bama voter idiots excluded, of course) just how corrupt this “most transparent” administration is!

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

But that is the thing, the low-info voters run this country now and they are not going to get the truth from the media or Obama. I try to have faith in this country, but every time I do anymore it lets me down. I guess all we can do is hope some of it slips through.

        • Osama0bama

Well, I share your dim view of the electorate. I paraphrase the First Linebacker: ‘For the first time in my adult life, I have very little faith in my country.’

I think Issa is using the Breitbart drip mefhod. You let out certain facts to see what happens first. You then get more info confessed.

      • poh

Good point Holly. Could he be making the low level IRS folks think twice about staying silent? That is, if he’s got the nerve to call the WH PS a paid liar, what is he going to do to me if he finds out I have not blown the whistle?

        • http://scienceshift.com/ Holly Martin

No, he really wants to get to the big dogs. James O’Keefe uses this method, too. FIrst he puts out one incriminating video, people react. Sometimes they end up condemning themselves once the next one hits. I think he’s already got those 18 low level interviews completed, and apparently much of them has been redacted, but Issa already knows the names he’s going after. That’s why he was so bold on CNN on Sunday.

  • Osama0bama

There are some DC (and Chicago) attorneys that are about to get very busy, and very rich. I just look forward to the indictments.

  • pinkelephant22

Correct that commentary, dear Twitchy. It was stated, “wouldn’t say WH”. You wrote, “not all the way to the WH” as though it’s definitive, and it’s not.

      • pinkelephant22

I didn’t point that out in an effort to ridicule. The wording actually altered the meaning of what was stated which happens to be quite significant.

I was joking, didn’t mean to offend.

Maybe this will be the straw that FINALLY breaks the camel’s back. #Fair Tax Now

    • disqus_QL2DYFMBff

The problem is not the tax code, although it is a problem. The problem is that we have IRS agents that have broken the law. The excuse of I was “just following orders” is unacceptable. Prosecutions are necessary to reign in the bureaucrats and the remaining bureaucrats must learn that they put themselves at risk when they just follow orders. Of course, plea bargaining and time off for talking about who gave the orders is acceptable to get the whole lot of these felons.

  • JustLikeAnimals

Oooooooh…..This is about to get really good.

We already know Stephanie Cutter met with Shulman in the White House. That’s CREP involved in IRS targeting of GOP groups.

    Where’s my popcorn!!!???

I think it’s CREEP actually but you are dead right where it’s headed.

Did you even read the article? Specifically the part where the “source”
“…wouldn’t say WH, but said ‘high'”? So why are you still trying to link it to President Obama?

      • Guest

Oh dear. You know the House took 19 hard drives from the Office of the Chief Counsel of the IRS today – including the Chief Counsel’s (direct Obammy appointee). What do you think they’ll find? Obamma/ Biden are getting impeached. Me, I think that it’s more likely than not that where there’s smoke, there’s a roaring inferno. Therefore, I bought of a bottle of champagne. A toast to the next President of the United States, John Boehner.

Curious if you have a reference for the House having taken HDs from the IRS? Thanks.

There’s a saying in physics that just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Obama and his monkey minions continue to trade on people like you who only marvel at the stripes on the curtain.

Q: Who ultimately had the most to gain by having knowledge of donor lists from conservative groups and disabling those groups from functioning in the months leading up to the 2012 election?

If you said “two low-level rogue agents in Cincinnati”, you need to check your pulse.

  • [email protected]

What is that creepy IRS logo about? It looks like a stick-figure drawing of a vulture holding an Optimus Prime mask in his beak.

    • JustLikeAnimals

The logo is ‘complex’. I think the wheat symbol on the left speaks to a notion of treasure or harvest or paying a portion of what you reap (remember “wheat pennies?). The other side is supposed to be an eagle holding the scale of justice (or perhaps a weight scale to proportion what you reap against what the IRS takes?). You’re right, though. It’s “stylized” version today looks pretty ominous, but so does their behavior.

I’ve read that the IRS does not publicly comment on the meaning of its insignia.

    • JustLikeAnimals

Here’s some “art” in front of the Maryland IRS HQ even more creepy and mysterious. Lots of through-back in the symbols to free masonry, secrecy, and duality. Fun research! =(

  • Axelgreaser

YOU GET USED TO HYPERBOLE. Either that from Obama’s loosey goosey theatrics as he stretches the truth like a carnival taffy puller or that of the press, both from the dwindling legitimate U.S. press or from the lunatic ‘state’ MSM. So, by ‘exploding’ do they mean Holder has once again found an 11th hour way to chew off his foot and escape the trap of justice which inexplicably is his line of work? Or that there is a concrete case against Holder and Obama’s IRS ‘scandal.’ Because these are two men who use the law and Constitution to their advantage, we’ve learned as slog on thru the second awful Obama term and they seem to have nine lives apiece where manipulation of those two august bodies are concerned.

    About time!

  • jfitzy55

Here’s hoping some paper trail leads to the union leaders as well. Would be lovely to see a class action law suit against some union heads.

  • John Howard

It may not ‘lead all the way up’ but Obama is still the chief executive and bears ultimate responsibility for how the government functions. That’s why get gets the Big Bucks.
Speaking of which, he can’t simply encircle himself with people and put ‘The Buck Stops Here’ signs on THEIR desks as any sort of a personal defense.

Of course there is a paper trail to higher ups, the goal of the progressives is to discourage all from finding out just how far up it goes and lie every step of the way.

The rabbit hole is really deep, really, really deep.

Beware the progressive tactic of employing scandal fatigue, remember they have the CLinton people running the scandal management team for them

  • Sean Hayes

Looks like my investment, in 2009, in the paper shredder industry is about to pay off.
