Revelation: Marc Lamont Hill says ‘it feels like the Left … was just anti-Bush’; Update: More from Prof. Hill

Stop the presses! Did über-lefty Prof. Marc Lamont Hill just admit that Bush Derangement Syndrome is a real phenomenon? Let’s see that again, just to be sure it actually happened:

Minds = blown.

No kidding. What bomb will he drop next?

Prof. Hill just retweeted this:

Let’s be clear, here: we’re not trying to suggest that Hill suddenly “gets it.” Rather, we’re drawing attention to the fact that he’s figured out that maybe, just maybe, the biggest issue the Left had (and still has) with George W. Bush is George W. Bush. As far as this particular admission is concerned, Prof. Hill doesn’t exactly have much company on the Left.

  • ObamaFail

Bush did a lot of stupid stuff while President. But it can’t be ignored that the Democrats in the House and the Senate backed going to war in the Middle East. It also can’t be ignored that the things Obama has done are far worse than what Bush did, yet he gets a free pass.

    • Bill Gryan

I’m still waiting for the angry protests about the war in Libya. I know it’s long over, but it was declared unilaterally by Obama, without congressional approval. Where was the outrage from the left? Oh yeah, that war was “cool” because Obama did it.

  • Steve_J

He’s right and he’s wrong the left is constantly yapping and pushing. What has them somewhat confused is the conservatives pushing back.

And they hated Bush because they were “told” to hate him, by the same people (I include the media) who “told” them Obama would be a great President, and who will “tell” them Hillary will be too. • mountainaires

Well now. This just cries out for a little bit of Truth-Telling and, like it or not, I am going to tell you the truth: It is high time for conservatives to divorce themselves from their attachment to the perversion of true conservative values by the Neo-cons in the GOP. Those Neo-cons, who never met a military intervention they didn’t embrace, are not conservatives at all; they are Neo-Liberals. By allowing these former Trotskyites to control foreign policy agendas, conservatives have undermined their own credibility, perverted true conservative principles, and given Socialists a wedge with which to destroy you. Ron Paul and Rand Paul are right, truly “right” and represent true conservative values. The rest are pale perversions, so that in truth, there is no difference between Today’s Democrats and Republicans on foreign policy!

    • Arminius

Certain amount of truth to this. Republican ‘leadership’ cries like lost babies when the Pentagon is faced with marginal restraints on spending. Ask any military officer about the ‘efficiency’ of military spending, and you’ll get a long dissertation on waste and foolishness. Nothing more than corporate welfare, disguised as ‘strong defense’.
Here’s a ‘strong defense’: Make every citizen at 18 spend a year in military service, and issue them a firearm to be kept in working order at home. But no, no: let’s not empower those pesky citizens, shall we?

Let us take care of our own nation. What have we received, in return for our various crusades in the past 70 years around the globe? Debt and world resentment. Let those screwed-up nations around the globe make their own personal hell-on-earth. We now have enough natural gas, coal and oil to largely fend for ourselves for the next 100 years. I suggest we do so.

    • MGBSE

…wrong…republicans are pro-God & democrats are pro-aclu…republicans are pro-constitution & democrats are anti-“limited freedoms” constitution…republicans are pro-life & democrats are pro-abortion… republicans are pro-small government & democrats are pro-big government…republicans are pro-immigation & democrats are pro-illegal aliens…republicans are pro-marriage and family & democrats are pro-gay marriage & single mothers…republicans are pro-employed and self-reliant & democrats are pro-welfare and dependent…republicans are pro-allies & democrats are pro-muslim brotherhood, murdering thugs, dictators and despots…republicans are pro-STRONG national security & democrats HATE being the worlds only superpower…anyway…even Rand said “some” drones are necessary…Republicans and Conservatives may not be perfect on foreign policy but at least their objective is to preserve & protect the United States of America…democrats – they use foreign policy to destroy their enemies – republicans and conservatives.

  • restoreliberty

No Mr. Hill, the real deal is that progressives love and adore their own progressive war mongers. For instance, the still adore Kennedy the President that got us into Vietnam and they despise Nixon the president who got us out of the Vietnam war. Bill Clinton’s undeclared wars in the Balkans, no problem – bombing asprin factories in the Sudan, no problem or how about Hillary ducking and weaving non-existing bullets?
Here’s the lesson for the day – conservative warmongers bad,
progressive war mongers wonderful and in need of protection and cover at all cost, from both academia and the media to not only continue the killing but in spreading the footprint of war across even more nations and continents.

“In other news, Mr Hill suggests that water feels wet, and keys when dropped tend to fall to the ground…”

Thanks for stating what has been so very, very obvious to at least half of the populace since, oh, about January 2001. Mr Bush as I recall put substantial Federal dollars into AIDS research and support in Africa. Progressive response? Crickets.
Let Mr Obama, in contrast establish an aggressive program of targeted assassination via drone strikes overseas, and….same response. Crickets. Silence.

And progressives insist that they’re the rational actors on the political and societal stage….

    • MGBSE

…obama is bringing africans to the USA for AIDS treatment…and their vote.

  • attagirlny

    “Will wonders never cease?”

    • MGBSE

      …bush “collateral damage” evil…obama “collateral damage”…silence.

The reason nothing happens to corrupt, incompetent, immoral, evil, stupid democrats like obama…90% of their voters can barely read at a 4th grade level – in english or spanish…and do not care – as long as they get a check & an obamaphone…the reason republicans are destroyed over nothing – like scooter libby being convicted for telling the truth – the remaining 10% of the democrat voters are the 1% – very wealthy media, hollywood, academia, wall street & business…married to democrat politicians & operatives – who scream 24/7 about some republican contrived injustice …in their controlled venue…until the republican apologizes, resigns or goes away.

  • devan95

The only soldiers Democrats love are dead ones so they can use their bodies to gain partisan political power. That’s the reason the media keeps a list of the number of dead Americans but never publishes a tally of enemy dead…

  • he_who_scoffs_at_danger

Let’s not act like Hill is some extreme “other” from the remote opposite end of politics, okay? He’s a regular on RedEye, for chrissakes.

  • owenmagoo

war spending for afghanistan and iraq for 09-14 will exceed 01-08. bush did have 3 years over 100 billion on Iraq…2014 will be obama’s 5th in regards to afghanistan.

the only one who has been paying any attention is…

code pink. strange, as I thought they’d be the first to scurry off, yet they are the only group, to my knowledge, that has a legitimate moral belief.

this isn’t just obama’s mistake. the gop has been signing the checks for our afghan follies. for all the calls for bipartisanship, in an industry with a tendency to coverup disaster, when there is bipatisan agreement, one should fear the outcome.

    • owenmagoo

given the spate of recent scandals…
I will give obama the beneift of the doubt, in regards to war spending. Does anyone think he would lament “two wars on a credit card” if he he really knew that his tab is larger than bush’s?
the intel that probably does make it to his desk most likely paints a picture of rosy success.
