Not really breaking news: Celebrity interviewer Barbara Walters is retiring…next year

Earlier this spring, media tongues were wagging over a strange announcement/non-announcement/walkback/non-walkback from ABC News and veteran celebrity interviewer Barbara Walters about her retirement.

Fast forward:

Couldn’t resist:

  • TheAmishDude

How can we miss her if she won’t go away?

    • Jeremy

no kidding she will have another reunion tour.

  • Brian Roastbeef

Meh. One self-important “journalist” proudly in bed with the left retires, and another just takes her place.

I’ll be surprised if she goes in May of 2014 and not November after the midterms. I’ve noticed they always like to declare their retirement for “after the elections.” Always seemed blatant to me that it means they want to make sure to provide their bias hoping to slant one last November trip to their polls, before reverting to a quieter private-sector partisan hack.

    • Ben Bollman

Yeah, but the extent of her ‘journalism’ the last few years has been flowery celebrity interviews and hosting The View. I can’t remember the last time she did an actual story and even longer since she did a factual one.

      • Brian Roastbeef

That’s a good point… Though I’ll still say celebrities and Democratic party politicians aren’t really different crowds these days. Pointless softballs are thrown to both, and they all have the same agenda.

  • Ben Bollman

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

  • Michael_Brennick

Yawn……a boring apologist for the elites retires……a woman of very little quality.

    • Jeremy

agreed.I never have liked her just another elitist snob.

  • $29520529

What a blow to the culture! Not.

  • ObamaFail

CNN, ABC, and whoever else reports the “news”

  • Bill Board

Did you see Baba Wawa’s interview with Eddie Wabbit? I mean weally, who gives a flying fig about the hair lip?

  • Jack Deth

“Oh, how dreadful!” Said no one. Ever.

That woman is harder to eradicate than a bad case of Jock Itch.

  • TocksNedlog

Doesn’t work enough hours per week to receive Obamacare.

  • HARP2

She`s already lost most of her leaves anyway.

  • James Rose

My life will profoundly change. Oh, what will I do when I can’t watch her shows that I didn’t watch. In the words of the great Statesman Moe “Alas, poor Yorick, I knew him well”…….. NOT.

  • Laconic

There are so many MSM personalities with speech defects.

Chris Mathews can’t say Bush without using spittle.

John Liebowich (Stewart) finds it hard to say Republican without sneering,

Bill Mayer can’t pronounce conservative without having conniptions.

Piers (Musket) Morgan can’t say anything without sounding like a whining limey.

One less Self Obsessed Airheaded Bimbo,( S.O.A.B. for brevity) is a good start.

BTW, If your most memorable and oft quoted question was “if you were a twee, what type of twee would you be?”,(56,000,000 hits on google) then your journalist “career” is a twee bearing a lot of low hanging fwuit”

    • Laconic

I just had an orrible though, what is she meant she was weaving, like making a carpet or perhaps a scarf, Damn, I gotta be more carefwul with assumptions.

  • Garth Haycock

So, Baba Wawa is finowee wetiowing. No woss, but I’m just afwaid dat someone ehwohse wiow repwace ho, wike the wetohn of Joy Behah.

She looks just like Mrs. Piggy in that picture

  • stuckinIL4now

Why wait? Just go now and spare us the boring year-long libturd-filled farewell tour … I can already hear Katie Couric’s fake gushing, cooing and fawning.

How many times do we have to say so long to non-essential ego-building-based-narcissism-interviewers? We knew we turned it off years ago, yet it keeps coming around like its addicted to the camera or something.

  • notenoughtime

Walter’s should have retired a long time ago and not go out with the dreadful “The View” as her last project.

  • Steve_J

It’s becoming too expensive to reanimate her.

  • DavidNWIn

    I hate long good-byes.
