OFA delivers gun control petition to Pelosi, Reid; ‘This fight is not over’

As Twitchy reported yesterday, Obama’s rebooted campaign machine Organizing for Action promised it would deliver 1.4 million signatures to Congress today in its renewed push for Gun Control 2.0. With OFA tweeting earlier this month that up to 92 percent of Americans support expanded background checks, 1.4 million doesn’t seem quite as impressive as it might have otherwise. Compound that with the knowledge that the “signatures” consist of as little as an email address and ZIP code entered at barackobama.com, and it’s not so far fetched that Nancy Pelosi would tweet a photo of a single sheet of paper — maybe it’s an IOU for more signatures.

Regardless, Sen. Harry Reid insisted that the fight for an expansion of gun control is not over. The president promised the same during his Rose Garden tantrum April 17, but he’s since turned his laser focus to other things, leaving the lobbying group that tweets under his name to do the heavy lifting. Is OFA up to the task?

To this day I cannot understand how humans have not found the solution to war. The lefties here in the US have it figured out! Anytime a conflict happens, just declare the area a gun free zone. Easy peezy!

    • angeleyez

      What signatures ?

      • https://twitter.com/davidjkramer DavidKramer

You know, the first time I watched that movie I thought it was the worst I had ever seen. Then I watched it again looking to apply it to the world around us and thought wow, that is like the gun free zones the Democrats push. Then I thought okay, it is one step up from Robert Redford’s latest.

        • angeleyez

Still have the 1962 nonsport cards that were banned.

    • RblDiver

Heh, there was a caller to a local radio station yesterday where the caller basically claimed that if we got rid of the financial incentive to sell weapons (something like “if we got rid of the military-industrial complex” or some strange wording), the world’d become peaceful. The host proceeded to eviscerate this dumb argument.

      • https://twitter.com/davidjkramer DavidKramer

If we could only remove the humans, society would be awesome!

    • Elaine

Did anyone see the petition wording? haha It’s OFA, the official non-partisan, non-profit branch of the Democrat party! Nothing about GUN CONTROL, just badly needed background checks, we already have and don’t enforce.

See that one little piece of paper she’s holding? 1 million signatures! Shouldn’t it look kind of like Obamacare pages? haha

  • https://twitter.com/davidjkramer DavidKramer

Response to The Swamp- @NancyPelosi So you got less than 50% of your email list to sign a petition, that is like a mandate……….or something.

So, we need to impeach these people for shredding our Bill of Rights, U.S. Constitution and the Amendments.
We have to tell Everyone that ObamaGovt used “TaxPayer Money” “without” our permission, and “Gave” Not sold Arms and Fighter Jets to the Muslim Brotherhood. ObamaGovt still has more weapons to give to the Muslim Brotherhood by the end of 2013.
ObamaGovt didn’t get Background Checks, the names of the recipients, nor their addresses, nor access to their health records to see if they were mental or not or taking antidepressants…
Yet, we law abiding citizens are expected to succumb???

    • https://twitter.com/davidjkramer DavidKramer

Where are the reporters that would ask questions like that? Mrs. Pelosi did you do background checks on the Muslim Brotherhood before you gave them F16s and Abrams tanks?
Mr President, so you must have done background checks on the narco terrorists in Mexico and Islamic terrorists in Syria you sent guns to right?

Just asking questions like this would destroy the Democrat party, but no, we have to have a Pravdaesque media.

1.4 mill…out of 300 mill. Soooo…roughly 1 in 300 Americans support this. Not very good numbers.

  • grais

The math just gets funnier and funnier.

    • Jeremy

ha ha gotta love the liberal fuzzy math.

  • Jack Deth

1.4 million questionable signatures. Roughly one in 300. On a useless petition.
5 million, infringed upon, well informed and licensed gun owners?

    Yeah…. It’s over!

    • Ronald Green

      It’s a lot more than 5 million.

  • ObamaFail

You guys know how that liberal math is.

  • I M Free

the only truth i believe in dirty harry is his name. the rest are all lies. the very old senator from nevada doesnt have the credibility. much more nancy pelosi…lets see what in the petition so we will know if its true

  • http://discus.com yourmamatoo

And more than that will not sign it .
And they still lose on this faux issue.
And there are gun control laws already on the books, including back round checks.
Good grief, these people are dense.

  • trixiewoobeans

SO SICK of these old, Liver-Spotted Libs!!

    “This fight’s not over.”

Do the unarmed people of America actually want to get into a “fight” with the armed ones? Really?

I wouldn’t know whether to buy ammunition or popcorn.

Jerky, shiner, Lawn chair and a golf umbrella.

But eat quickly and don’t get comfortable .. it will be a short fight.

  • SpinMeNot

Can we get a paper to publish the names and addresses of the fine upstanding citizens that signed this petition.

“No trespassing … I own firearms and a backhoe.”

  • tops116

    “Just 1.4 million signatures?”
“Well, it would’ve been more, but the interns’ wrists started aching.”

  • Man of Little Means

Isn’t that .005 percent of the population

  • Frank Drebin

The sensationalist, leftist media and the propaganda spewing OFA prove that you can fool most of the people most of the time.

“According to a new Pew Research Center survey, today 56% of Americans
believe gun crime is higher than 20 years ago and only 12% think it is

“Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide
rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though
the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent
crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower
in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall
(with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two

  • Man of Little Means

Just gotta wonder is the same computer that was collecting money from overseas contributors without asking them to verify the security code on their credit cards

  • Man of Little Means

Seems every time a bad guy shows up it turns out that he was on the law enforcements radar screen but they did nothing. now they want us to believe their incompetence is our fault. if they could just enforce the laws already on the books. They’ll gladly march into your house take gun and walk into an illegal immigrants house and give them your money. I don’t understand why illegals would want to give up their gun rights and free health and welfare to be a citizen of this country. When we turn into Syria how they gonna get back to Mexico

  • Koker

I finally figured out where the 90% came from, the lib doing the talking points is dyslexic and read 0.6%…See its not their fault for lying!

The TelePrompTer was installed upside down.(tm)

  • http://www.facebook.com/richard.jefferies.96 Richard Jefferies

I’ll bet there are dozen petitions at whitehouse.gov that triple that number.

  • GaryTheBrave

I like the last tweet that showed that 1.6 million Americans signed the petition to repeal Ocare. Yes, the fight is NOT over.

  • Bill Board

I know Harry and Nancy aren’t mathematicians but even the village idiot knows that with 313 million Americans…..1.3 million is a tad bit shy of “90% of the American people”.

  • Just Another Guy

Let’s remember all the twitter accounts that turned out to be fake that followed Obama et al.

  • http://www.irregulars.us/ towerclimber37

sorry, My rights are inalienable. they’re not for sale, nor for petition. I don’t loan them out or allow buffoons to usurp them.

Nowhere in the articles of the constitution is the power to regulate firearms specifically enumerated. As I recall it goes the other way. “Shall not be infringed”.

That being said, if they want em, all the have to do is come take em. Old painless is waitin..

  • Leslie Ward

OFA – probably 10 people have been paid for 8 hours days to ‘make’ those 1.4 million ‘signatures’ – happens around the country with petitions ‘for’ liberal causes on a regular basis. What a crock – sad that this is what political discourse is coming down to in America. BTW, America is NOT a Democracy (mob rule) it is a Constitutional Federal Republic. Try to get at least one thing right about your own government.

  • lonestar245

@ Reid: What difference does it make?

  • Right Wired

Doesn’t matter. All that counts are these 40, which trump any marxist legislation you can come up with:

Universal background checks. Strange that Obama, whose background is sealed, is in favor of this. I suppose he’s exempt just as democrats are from any of the junk legislation they pass.
