Marco Rubio’s chief of staff has never seen positive comments in any comments thread anywhere

Sen. Jeff Flake’s pro-amnesty op-ed didn’t get a warm reception from National Review commenters.

You might think that means conservative support for the Gang of Eight immigration reform bill is softening (or was never there to begin with).

But that’s not how Marco Rubio’s chief of staff Cesar Conda sees it. Because, according to Conda, all comments threads on the Internet are negative.

Yeah, that’s the ticket!

  • Nied’s Dead Horse

Well, duh! What has Rubio done that WOULDN’T garner negative attention?

    • CatHerder

The guy has been hung out to dry by the Old Guard, he was co-opted to shill this garbage on the strength of his Tea Party affiliation. They were hoping to take the new guy down a peg and gather him into the fold when they forgave his errant ways and let him back in.

      • Nied’s Dead Horse

If a sitting U.S. Senator (my Senator, BTW) is so naive or so weak as to allow himself to be used in such a way, then he is not ready to hold his position and is DEFINITELY not ready for 2016.

        • $24698634

All you had to do was look at Rubio’s history. He got away with stuff that would have ended most political careers. And he’s my senator too, sorry to say.

  • Jim Swift

I think Mr. Conda is correct. I think he wasn’t speaking more figuratively, but he has a point — the majority of comments on the internet are negative.

    • Guest

      You take that back!

    • OneThinDime

Good, they should be. Vast majority of Congress (Cruz, Lee, Stockman, few others are exceptions) and the WH Admin are doing NOTHING positive and need to hear from Americans that we are SICK of it!

      • CO2 Producer

I’m sure Congress and the administration are doing their very best.

        • wwbdinct

          I hope that’s sarcasm!

          • CO2 Producer

Not at all. Whatever they’re trying to do, they seem to be doing it well.

          • wwbdinct

            Oh yeah! It’s all good.

          • CO2 Producer

            That’s the spirit!

          • Sonny Brewer

CO2 is one of those Liberal pot heads.

          • J. Cox

No…you just cannot see the sarcasm. You could always click on someone’s name when in doubt and check their prev. comments….or just hurl out “lib” insults.

          • CO2 Producer

That’s okay, J. Not everyone has time in their busy lives to verify every last one of their assumptions. It’s my fault for not making my true feelings clear through the use of those convenient sarcasm tags…er, I mean positive tags, designated as follows:

          • CO2 Producer

A.B.P. Always Be Positive! Let’s show Cesar Conda that it’s not impossible! Have a good week, dude!

          • TocksNedlog

You’re playing the wrong RIF, dude.

    • jb willikers

      that’s a lot of bs…oh wait

    • CO2 Producer

      Astute observation. Good job!

    • TocksNedlog

    • James W.

they are only negative because what is coming out of DC is not what the american people want

  • CO2 Producer

    May Cesar’s Sunday be glorious!

    • Guest

Tweet him with a link to your comment.

      • CO2 Producer

That would make me disingenuous, sir.

        • Guest

Damn the scruples! Full speed ahead!

          • CO2 Producer

I respectfully disagree, but I shall grant each of your preceding replies an upward arrow for kindly taking the time to respond.

  • Republicanvet

If I saw anything positive coming from Washington I would comment positively on it.

    • Clayton Grant

      You are so right!

    • CO2 Producer

Al Gore was born in Washington DC. I wouldn’t be here today without him.

Connie Chung was born there, too. Without her, we wouldn’t have Maury Povich.

      • Sonny Brewer

So what does that mean CO2? Did he impregnate your Mamma?

        • djshawman

          Al invented the internet….

        • CO2 Producer

Yes, kind sir, Al Gore is my father. Now you know.

      • L.N. Smithee

Just in case you weren’t joking: Connie Chung has nothing to do with Maury Povich’s career trajectory. Povich and Chung were both at one time serious journalists, Maury being the son of a legendary sportswriter, Shirley (not making it up — his father’s name was Shirley).

        • W Brian Martin

          Shirley you much be joking.

        • CO2 Producer

          Very insightful. Thank you!

  • Steve_J

Why would there be postitive comments about amnesty or those proposing amnesty. What world does Conda live in? I’d like to know why he, his boss, and the rest of the “gang of 8” hate people who followed U S immigration laws to come to this country.

    • Wigglesworth

      a tribal one

  • Achilles

It’s a terrifying insight into the minds of these politicians and their lackeys. They’ll read thousands of negative comments about their proposed bill and assume that’s just the way the internet is. They are so insulated and ignorant of the people they claim to represent. It’s truly disgusting. I can’t think of a fate truly horrible enough to wish upon them that comes close to what they deserve.

  • Ben

That kind of seems like the biggest hint that it’s time he looks for another occupational field lol… when you are someone’s chief of staff and you make a statement like that… kind of says “I suck so badly” in front of it, simply by implication!

  • greghalv

Rubio is officially a pox on the American Republic.

    • MurphTacular

  • vetgal1970

I’m positive that the proposed reforms will be more of the same, and I’m positive no one in DC really cares what we think anyway.

    • $24698634

Now you’re on to something. No one cares.

  • Brad Donald

Rubios staff seem to be progressives. He is surrounded himself with progressive rinos. We are screwed.

    • DeeDEEthree

Rubio is a RINO BUSH PUPPET.

  • TocksNedlog

Does the Internet invite anonymous asshattery? Of course.
But to cite this as a reason for the dearth of positive reaction is as lame as lame can lamely be.

  • Guest

More “Let them eat cake” BS from our so-called “representatives”.

  • NCRelite

The elites aren’t interested in border security because weak border security means future big government dependents/supporters and low wage workers for big business donors. We the people are of little interest until it’s time to get our votes, then they pull out the conservative rhetoric

  • don

I thought you were the real thing! Hint: SECURE THE BORDER FIRST! The bill should be one page, FOLLOW CURRENT LAW! I had high hopes dashed. What happened to you?

  • Leslie Ward

Here’s one positive – I’m positive that this positively dangerous Amnesty bill will positively hurt the American economy and job market and positively will open our borders to positively too many criminal illegal invaders. I’m positive.

  • sharinite

You have to speak and understand the English language as it is not as progressives have bastardized it. And, you must be able to read English…he can’t do either of those things otherwise he wouldn’t make such dumb as a post statements….makes me wonder about Rubio…
