Mild-mannered reporter Mark Knoller wishes happy birthday to Superman

No fact-check necessary here: if there’s anyone left in journalism who can be described as a “mild-mannered reporter,” it’s CBS News’ Mark Knoller. Today’s the 75th anniversary of the publication of Action Comics No. 1, and it’s been named “Superman Day” in Cleveland, Ohio, home of Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

A reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper who fights a never-ending battle for truth? That alone would qualify for hero status these days.

Yeah, Mark Knoller can communicate well.

  • RblDiver

Sad that “The American Way” has been dropped in recent years.

  • Jack Deth

    Kudos, Mark!

  • Spatial Awareness

Truth, Justice and the American Way …. is on life-support.

If only CBS News could fight for–well, even one of the three.

Except Superman disavowed his American citizenship and is now a citizen of the world,
    and Green Lantern is queer.

But the “disavowing” story, as i recall, was a one-off and not considered canonical. As for GL…that one irritates me.

Ok. But once you have established a stance and don’t retract it publicly there is no evidence that you have changed your position.

  • BlahBlah

Except I wouldn’t wanna see old Mark there in Spandex.

  • Kingofthehill

Haha… I like Mark Knoller. He seems to be a pretty straight shooter and not kiss azz.
