Fox News: Boston Marathon bombs packed with ‘ball bearings’

Fox News just reported that witnesses say “ball bearings” were used in the bomb explosions.

Paraphrasing: Fox News anchor Shep Smith notes, after reporting the allegations, that “we appear to be in the midst of another terrorist attack.”

Terrible, prayers to everyone involved. Sad day.

    Update:
CNN Wolf Blitzer suggest anti-tax group (tea party?) well that didnt take long. Blitzer should be fired.

    • SpinMeNot

Well, once again CNN proven to be wrong … they have a Saudi National in custody in the hospital.

      • http://sutherlandart.tumblr.com/ ChelsieSutherland

Nope, that was proven wrong. The NYPost jumped the gun, and Boston Police refuted that statement. There is no known suspect, and there is also no suspect under guard at the hospital.

        • SpinMeNot

So the search warrants executed were hoaxes as well. No, I don’t think so.

          Get over it.

          • http://sutherlandart.tumblr.com/ ChelsieSutherland

Here’s a statement from the FBI head in charge of investigating the Boston bombing: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50144911n

“He is a Saudi national who was near the scene of the blast. When the blast happened he began to run. Now, in context, a lot of people began to run. A civilian who thought he was acting suspiciously chased him down and tackled him and then turned him over to Boston police, saying, I saw this guy hanging around over there acting suspiciously. And then he ran. That may mean a lot, it may mean nothing at all. […] He is being entirely cooperative, and has denied any allegations.”

The man in question is currently being treated as a witness, not a suspect. There was no proof that he was in any way connected to the bombings. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/report-saudi-man-boston-suspect-article-1.1318272

In the future I would suggest keeping up to date with Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/conspiracy/boston.asp#saudi

  • Clayton B

    . . . is this not marathon-place violence ?

  • nc

Ball bearings – suicide bomber stuffing of choice.

  • Dominic Blais

  • MarcusFenix

Very sad. I hope justice is swift to whatever animal(s) did this.

  • http://twitter.com/lazypadawan lazypadawan

Ball bearings are meant to shred people to pieces.

    • SpinMeNot

      M18/M18A1, 00-buck … extremely effective weapons.

  • Bklynnygirl

Wolf Blitzer is at it, blaming an anti tax group.
It’s Patriots day in Boston and we know how the left hates Patriots.

    • Ron Morisseau

The Miami Dolphins also hate the Patriots

      • Bklynnygirl

Nah…I was right it looks like It’s the lefts friend a Saudi national.
I wonder if he entered through Obama’s DHS, Global Entry Program.
You know the one where Obama added the Saudi’s to the low risk “trusted travelers” program.

        • http://sutherlandart.tumblr.com/ ChelsieSutherland

No, Boston Police stated that they had no suspect in custody and that the NYPost’s original suspicion that it was a Saudi national was false and did not come from any Boston Police sources. That statement was made 16 hours ago. Fact check what you post.

          http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/boston-police-no-arrests-have-been-made-in

          • Bklynnygirl

Chelsie don’t be a moron, I made that post 15 hours ago.
I got the Saudi national information from CBS and NBC websites.
I also wrote that it “looks like it’s a Saudi national.”
Where is the story saying the Saudi national is false?

          • http://sutherlandart.tumblr.com/ ChelsieSutherland

A press conference from the Boston Mayor and BPD. http://www.businessinsider.com/live-boston-mayor-holds-press-conference-2013-4

Also, an update from NBC about the status of the search for a suspect as of this morning: http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/15/17767721-officials-to-public-send-photos-video-from-boston-marathon-bombings?lite

CBS and NBC jumped on an early (inaccurate) report by the NYPost.

We still do not have any suspect in custody. A Saudi National was questioned at the hospital, and gave consent to the BPD to search his home, but he was not arrested because there is not enough substantial evidence. From NBC: “Overnight, law enforcement officials searched a suburban Boston apartment building, interviewed a man and removed a duffel bag and two trash bags. But a law enforcement official later told NBC News that nothing of interest was found. They also issued alerts for a rental van and a man seen leaving the scene of the blasts.”

And a statement from the FBI Director John Miller: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50144911n

Meaning the man was not even arrested by police, he was tackled by a civillian without any proof, and then after an apartment search last night was not arrested.

          • Bklynnygirl

Chelsia, Apparently the Saudi national story wasn’t false.
A Saudi national is being questioned and his home was searched.

          • http://sutherlandart.tumblr.com/ ChelsieSutherland

…I already told you he HAD been questioned and opened his home to search in the comment you are replying to. He was never arrested, he was not actually taken in by the police. Do you think I didn’t read the news articles and links I sent you?

He WAS questioned. He VOLUNTEERED his home up to search and it WAS searched last night. There was nothing found. He was released.

This man was entirely innocent, was tackled to the ground and handed over by a civillian who jumped to conclusions (because he ran from an explosion, which everyone ran from), and while being completely compliant opened his apartment to search – and it was proven he had nothing to do with it.

You jumped in, and your comment read like you were assuming that individual was responsible (without a confirmed arrest or provided evidence that the accusations were in any way true), and then the rest of your comment was nothing but xenophobia and trying to drag politics into a situation in which they do not belong.

          • Bklynnygirl

Was it the part about the Saudi’s low risk “trusted travelers program”
that got your panties in a wad?
We know how the left like to coddle our enemies and prays to Al Gore or Obama that the bomber would be a WHITE tea partier that did this and not some Muslim terrorist…..right?

What we do know, it’s the left that likes to make bombs.
Ayers, Dohrm, Boudin and look up the Occupiers… WOW so many.

I agree that politics should not be dragged into a situation like this, but the left always does including the MSM and the Politicians, so it’s fair game.

          • http://sutherlandart.tumblr.com/ ChelsieSutherland

If you want to start naming political terrorists, let me direct you to the Oklahoma City Bombing, the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park Bombing, the 2008 Knoxville Unitarian Church shooting, the 2010 Austin IRS attack, and the 2012 Sikh Temple shooting. All of those were carried out by the radical far-right.

Groups on both sides react with violence. Individuals who have no policial allegiance commit violent acts like this too. The least you can do is wait until the investigation is carried out, the bombs themselves are identified to help track down who made them, and there is an actual suspect presented. Don’t jump the gun, listen to facts, think rationally.

Because if you point fingers at people who were not actually involved, or if you hold one person’s actions as responsible for an entire group as large as an entire country or ethnicity, that sort of reasoning gets repeated until those innocent people actually do get hurt.

          • Bklynnygirl

Now, if you look at some of the people that you and your lefty friends say that are right wing.
Some on your list is Questionable.
What proof do you have they are all right wingers?
What the liberal news tells you?

In our history the left has been known for blowing up things.
Here are some examples, Is there any correlation to any on the above list you mentioned and the left M.O. list below?….I say yes.

            Want to transform the country.
Have a soft spot for dictators.

They hate everything Bush did but adores Obama, who’s doing everything Bush did and worse.
Waterboarding is torture but drones are great. Killing innocent people the left never had a problem with. Putting water in some ones nose…Bush is a war criminal….LMAO.

I see through it and so does half the country.

          • http://sutherlandart.tumblr.com/ ChelsieSutherland

I’m moderate. Center. I do not stand by extremism of any kind. Do not put words in my mouth. I’m not sitting here generalizing political parties only a reply under stating “I agree that politics should not be dragged into a situation like this”, like you, as an individual, are doing.

I am keeping this conversation to this specific bombing incident only. I don’t care about your political beliefs. Unless you have anything to add about the actual bombing at hand, about actual facts regarding the attack in Boston, then you derailed this conversation a long time ago.

          • Bklynnygirl

            You started this not me.
You jumped in to my conversation to defend the Saudi national.

            In your first post.
No, Boston Police stated that they had no suspect in custody and that the NYPost’s original suspicion that it was a Saudi national was false and did not come from any Boston Police sources. That statement was made 16 hours ago. Fact check what you post

Reply….I never said they had a suspect in custody.
I didn’t hear the Boston Police say that the NY post original suspicion that it was a Saudi national was false and didn’t come from Police sources….apparently the NY Post was right according to you. They were questioning a Saudi national.and searched his home.

            The END.

May God grant peace to the wounded, and grace to the dead / dying.

  • Tom Anderson

As we type the media is looking for TEA Party members registered in the marathon…

And everyone with a Don’t tread on me bumper sticker is being rounded up for questioning…

And liberal media assclowns are tweeting stupid crap about the republicans did it.Standard MO after any tragedy.

  • Al Pollick

I would say that it is more like people EXACTLY like Mr. Dominic Blais a man who is so full of hate and venom that even his thought patterns border on insane.

Also, Mr Dominic Blais may be RIGHT about something…..Apparently HIS teachers were either dumb, uneducated or uncaring because He can’t even spell simple words correctly while TRYING to make a statement.
THIS man is the one who should definitely be questioned by the authorities!
Nothing but hate, venom and VERY unintelligent thoughts from a rambling MORON!
    IDIOT!
Is is truly BECAUSE of idiots such as this moron that terrorism takes place at all.
The ONLY difference between THIS moron and the the actual terrorists is that of a different nationality.
You can only tell by this MORON’s speech that HE would definitely be the type of individual to perform terroristic acts.

  • SpinMeNot

The bombs that were used, based on what has been made public late this afternoon remind me of the bombs the IRA used … nasty bits of high explosives surrounded by a hard metal shell and nails without heads, screws without heads, and ball bearings.

    Truly horrible devices …
