Oh, come on: Rep. Cohen says he ‘punked’ press by tweet-creeping on Cyndi Lauper

Earlier this week, Twitter creepster Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) tweeted to Cyndi Lauper, “great night, couldn’t believe how hot u were.see you again next Tuesday.try a little tenderness.” Twice.

It was all part of his master plan to “punk” the press, natch. Something, something, the toaster is still loyal.

That’s his story and he’s sticking to it!

Shorter Cohen: Soon.

And really, he just wanted to get his message out. That’s why he called a press conference on Friday:

Seriously, dude?

And here’s what Cohen thinks of Politwoops, the Sunlight Foundation website that snagged his tweets before he deleted them.

Editor’s note: This post was updated with additional tweets during Rep. Cohen’s press conference.

Cohen’s official statement:

He needs to borrow one of Obama’s Excuse Czars.

    Try another one, Steve.

Tip: Match.com will probably take Congressmen, even creepy ones, as clients.

    That guy is just stupid.

    There’s the mistake
Then there’s the lie to cover for the mistake

He’s got an excuse after what happened with his daughter, but I’ll give him a D- on this one. If he wanted to punk the media, he could have found something more believable than calling Cindi Lauper hot.

@RepCohen <== doth protest too much, methinks. @LukeRussert <== carries water.

Local media is buying it (and selling it) hook, line and sinker.

  • tops116

Uh-huh. Why, he got the idea from the guy that hacked Anthony Weiner’s Twitter account.

  • Herman LaClair

this guy sounds like a three-year-old. he should just put down the shovel.

So in addition to having bad taste he is a liar?
