News to us:’s Irin Carmon claims no Gosnell coverup

Despite being rightly called out by pro-life advocates for ignoring the trial of alleged baby murderer Kermit Gosnell, members of the feminist Left are insisting that we’ve had them pegged all wrong. In a article today, Irin Carmon attempts to argue that “there is no Gosnell coverup”:

No, they aren’t right about the Gosnell story. If you’ve never heard of the Gosnell story, it’s not because of a coverup by the liberal mainstream media. It’s probably because you failed to pay attention to the copious coverage among pro-choice and feminist journalists, as well as the big news organizations, when the news first broke in 2011. There would be something rich, if it weren’t so infuriating, about these (almost uniformly male, as it happens) reporters and commentators scrambling to break open this shocking untold story. You know, the one that was written about herehere and here, to name some disparate sources.

This is how Carmon responds to truth seekers’ insistence that the MSM has failed to do its job and cover the Gosnell story?

If she can’t speak for the mainstream media, how can she confidently declare that there has not been a cover-up? We’re not buying it.

Kirsten Powers, who has been on the front lines working to expose the Gosnell horrors, isn’t buying Carmon’s argument, either:

That’s an excellent question.

Carmon — as well as several of the articles she links to in her piece — also echoes Amanda Marcotte’s disgusting assertion that misogynistic pro-life advocates are ultimately responsible for the atrocities that took place in Gosnell’s clinic:

We hate to break it to Carmon, but falsely blaming the pro-life movement for what went on in Gosnell’s clinic is not the same as confronting the crimes he is accused of committing. Does she have any outrage left for, you know, the man who allegedly sanctioned and participated in the murder of women and babies?

She’s far too busy lamenting “the morass of restrictive laws allegedly meant to protect women.” In her warped view, it’s because of women’s oppression that Gosnell’s clinic existed.

This is about infanticide, Irin. Whether you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice, what happened to these women and babies is horrific. Put aside your leftist feminist agenda for once and use your voice to speak for the victims. If they couldn’t be respected in life, then at least show their memories the regard they deserve.

Coincidentally, I just finished reading this article at Salon. The most-used phrase from the idiotic, left-winger comments on that thread was “conservative liars”. It must suck to live in a cesspool of disinformation and not even know it. The liberals’ ignorance is their bliss!

Irin’s talking about the Gosnell story today. She didn’t say anything about it yesterday, or the day before, or the day before. Why is that?

Because she assumed everyone knew about it already:

Currently, two articles from Salon’s writers carry the tag “Kermit Gosnell.” Both are from today.

The first one is Carmon’s. The second one is from Alex Seitz-Wald, who, instead of saying, “Gee, we might have dropped the ball on this one,” whines that some conservatives have been ignoring the story, too.

The left wants to distract everyone from the fact that virtually no one in the mainstream media is paying any attention to this trial. The people who want this story to be discussed are well aware that Fox hasn’t said much about it or that Congress isn’t addressing it. That’s why people are taking it upon themselves to inform others—because no one in mainstream was covering it.

Quit blaming others and start doing some actual work, journalists.

Um salon. You are broke. No one reads you. You are closing shop. You are not a news outlet and even if you wrote a story on anything no one would see it.

    Reality check.

I suspect we’d find a two year old headline like this:

Women’s Rights Crusader Investigated for Non-Optimal Practices

    • Stephen K

If you click the “feminist” link in the snippet above from Carmon’s piece, you get a “story” on a local site that’s little more than a press release from Gosnell’s defense attorney.

Yeah, that’s really “copious” and unbiased coverage.

Pul-leeze. The liberal media LOVES the feminists. They report everything that feminists do.

I mean, why else did we get a story every time some loon in a vagina costume crashed a Romney event?

  • Love of Country

And that communist rag remains in business because enough Left-leaning, low information voters have an insatiable appetite for all of the lies, hypocrisies and propaganda that Salondotcom is feeding them.

    • Tom Anderson

No they remain in business because Soros and other rich uber-progressives fund them to keep the propaganda machine churning. Useful idiots have their place in progressive land.

  • Squirrel!

    Not a coverup… a blackout.

  • Clayton Grant

They point to articles all from 2011. Someone at Salon needs to get a new calendar.

  • Jack Deth

Memo to the worthless hacks of Salon:

Your embarrassing attempts to emulate a cat covering s*it are as pitiful as they are repulsive. And reveal much more than you are trying to hide.

ATT: Joan Walsh, wasn’t it you, who was recently trying to school conservatives on how “not to be/sound racist”? Your turn beeyotch, at least we’re HUMAN, and I have no idea how to teach you that.

  • michael s

Did all of you demand the same national coverage and complain about the lack of media coverage of June 2012 trial of abortionist murderer Dr Steven Chase Brigham?

    • lainer51

sure did but you missed it, you were working to get Blobama re-elected. Congrats on that!! Gas prices down, Employment down, Fast & Furious resolved, Americans killed in Libya resolved, N. Korea loving us, Obamacare running smoothly, Uncle Joe taking charge, murder rate of fetuses diminishing….. Thanks for all you do!

  • kateorjane

But of course mainstream America gets their news from “pro-choice & feminists ” journalists. There are a couple of groups you’d really think of when looking for factual news.

    • Verreck

Jake Tapper reported about it last month, well before Kirsten Powers did.

  • Tom Anderson

When confronted with the horrors that they have created, progressives first ignore, then blame others for their failures and when all else fails throw a tantrum and call everyone misogynists. Got it.

    • Verreck

Or they can report the horrors of it when the story first breaks and then listen to the RWNJs lie about Progressives ignoring it.

  • Section 9

I think you’re bitch*ng because more people are finding out about this story than you want to, and that the story is starting to have legs.
What Progressives don’t want to admit is that this kind of conduct may be more widespread in the abortion industry than they want to admit.
