Obama budget: The debt will skyrocket, but smokers can help send kids to preschool!

At long last, the president has revealed his so-called “budget,” and, as expected, it’s a winner:

Snort.

Reduced federal spending? Heavens! We can’t have that!

And no one is more serious about deficit reduction than Barack Obama.

So, what are all these “investments” and “infrastructure” going to cost us, Mr. President?

Ah.

Movin’ on up!

But he’s serious about deficit reduction!

Balance is overrated, anyway. Let’s hear more about these new taxes:

Cigarettes are bad for our children! And the president needs more Americans to take up smoking — for the children:

Smokers, what you’re doing to our youth is evil! And, in order for Big Government to fund their education, you need to keep on puffing.

Good question.

And the less fortunate no longer need to worry about being left out of the economic debate. Their contributions will be integral to the program’s success:

Look. The national debt is already projected to reach over $25 trillion in the next ten years. We totally need these taxes in order to prevent the debt from climbing even higher. Right?

Oh.

What? The Amish Tobacco farmers are in it with Hussein Obama? Do they pay any taxes? They live w/o govt subsidized electricity which eventually costs MORE in taxes.

I don’t have any kids, by design. Why do I have to pay for someone elses rugrats to go to day care. Pay for your own kids. You had ’em, they’re your burden, they shouldn’t be mine! How about we put an additional tax on Gucci or Louboutin? That would be just as “fair” but they could afford it much more than I can.

One cannot permit submission to parental authority if one wishes to bring about profound social change….In order to effect rapid changes, any such centralized regime must mount a vigorous attack on the family lest the traditions of present generations be preserved. It is necessary, in other words, artificially to create an experiential chasm between parents and children to insulate the latter in order that they can more easily be indoctrinated with new ideas. The desire may be to cause an even more total submission to the state, but if one wishes to mold children in order to achieve some future goal, one must begin to view them as superior, inasmuch as they are closer to this future goal. One must also study their needs with care in order to achieve this difficult preparation for the future. One must teach them not to respect their tradition-bound elders, who are tied to the past and know only what is irrelevant.

So ‘sin taxes’ on smokes will discourage smoking…but income tax increases won’t make the rich shelter their money or leave entirely?

    #LowInfoLib logic strikes again.

So when the black market for cigarettes explodes and obowmao isn’t collecting what he thought he would in taxes, what then?

The previous massive increase was still not enough to fully fund the SCHIP expansion. I have every reason to believe that a new tax increase will have similar results.

Soooo, increase the tax on smokers to pay for goodies, but under Obamacare smoking is considered a pre- existing condition and thus will receive goodies.

Does any government official do any critical thinking anymore?

    • camnpat

If anyone was truly concerned about the health of the smoker or the person who eats too much they’d do something simple: get government out of healthcare and let each person pay for their own. The moment they see the actual bill they’d change their lifestyle on the spot. And without mandates health care costs would go considerably down.

Obama’s thinking: ” I won… Twice. I won’t be president by the time we hit the $25T in debt. Why should I care to be fiscally responsible when that will be a problem for future generations? I care more about how I will be seen by the progressive world in history books (and all the money and celebrity status once I’m out of the job) than actually doing a responsible job”.

So his smoking tax will get people to stop smoking — while simultaneously raking in cash for the gov’t. How is that possible?

If people stop smoking, they don’t buy cigarettes. If they don’t buy, they don’t pay taxes. Am I missing something?

Yes, a vivid imagination and imaginary numbers used in higher math. Otherwise you’re right on.

    • http://twitter.com/d_hershberger Doug Hershberger

I don’t think Obama knows how to follow a logical path. Increase taxes on product A = a certain amount of people stop smoking because it cost too much = lower revenues. So, Obama, what is the next step? Show me the numbers where the decrease in number of smokers doesn’t exceed the increase in the tax. I don’t smoke and I think people that do, with today’s knowledge of what it does to your body should just be denied health insurance, but not in Obama’s world. We’ll tax a thing to make it look like we care about health, we’ll pay farmers more than the tobacco is worth to grow it, give healthcare to those that WILLINGLY poison and contaminate their lungs, run advertising campaigns to encourage people to stop smoking, and pretend that somehow in there we are helping kids. How many other ways can the federal government get involved in tobacco??

  • http://twitter.com/d_hershberger Doug Hershberger

At least the tax on tobacco is a tax that Obama would actually participate in, idiot still smokes. If he really thought ‘it’s for the kids’ he’d quit smoking and put that money into a fund on his own. Can’t stop the subsidies of the tobacco growers and put that money into the fund, eh?

Lots of generalizations there. I really thought lib-progs were against generalizations?

Besides- I thought you “Margret Sanger” worshipers wre the ones that supported sterilization?

“The most merciful thing a large family can do to one of its infant members is to kill it.”

    Margaret Sanger

“Birth control appeals to the advanced radical because it is calculated to undermine the authority of the Christian churches. I look forward to seeing humanity free someday of the tyranny of Christianity no less than Capitalism.”

    Margaret Sanger

“The masses of Negroes…particularly in the South, still breed carelessly and disastrously with the result that the increase among Negroes, even more than among whites, is from that portion of the population least intelligent and fit..”.

    Margaret Sanger

“The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the Minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.:

    Margaret Sanger

With a “hero” like that do you understand why so many conservatives think lib-progs are insane?

    A. Birth control is very inexpensive. If one cannot afford the cost, existing programs are in place at every single health department in the nation to provide birth control on a sliding scale.
    B. Condom machines are ‘satan dispensers’? What are you blathering about? Condoms are exceptionally easy to procure. They are very inexpensive and are far superior to other forms of birth control.
C, Should adults, ultimately, not be responsible for their choices?
    D. Cannot feed their child? What about food stamps?
    E. Cannot afford daycare? What about the ABC voucher program?
    F. What about the option of adoption?

Blatant lie. Nowhere is there a move to restrict access to contraceptives(CONTRACEPTIVES, NOT MORNING AFTER ABORTION PILLS, progressives love to combine the two). That’s just good old fashioned circular logic at play. Not EXPANDING free contraceptives does NOT EQUATE to restricting free contraceptives. And it is illegal for state and local governments to prevent private health service industries from handing out free contraceptives.

Also, I stopped reading your post at Satan dispensers. Utterly retarded.

Bullshit, I know plenty of conservative Atheists. My brother is one. What the “party” doesn’t accept is the war on religion waged by militant secularist groups who hide behind and manipulate the intent of seperation of church and state.

The middle name thing is a jab, nothing more, you are clearly thin skinned. Or are you going to tell me that if George W. Bush’s middle name was Adolf you wouldn’t see a million leftists refer to him as Adolf Bush? Because I’ve seen people do that even without the name similarity…

And third, again, utter crap. So many people, even those in the public theater, said “Bush stole the election, I refuse to call him President” it boggles the mind. Your outrage is over a decade late.

  • J. Cox

So far all you have done is spout non-sense and imply things that are blatantly false.I am guessing since you really can’t formulate a actual argument with some real data…you resort to using false assumptions, circular arguments, and flat out lies.Bravo..you are a good sheeple for the left regurgitating the same putrid lies.

  • Silenttype78

Google generalization. While you’re at it educate yourself about conservatives and their incredible generosity.
Your post was full of Sanger like bull shit. Naturally I assumed you’re a big fan. She hated the idea of poor people breeding as much as you do.
Conservatives encourage people to believe in their own ability. Liberals tell people they aren’t capable of doing things for themselves. Your side encourages dependency.
