MSNBC brings in five-year-old to settle same-sex marriage debate

Wait … we thought the whole point of the 2012 presidential election was to preserve Big Bird’s job security. So why is MSNBC trying to muscle in on “Sesame Street’s” turf and use children to push a social agenda? Word is that this segment of “Political Playground,” during which co-host Krystal Ball talks politics with her 5-year-old daughter Ella, aired on yesterday’s installment of “The Cycle.” No, we weren’t watching either, and now we’re sorry we did. What sort of hateful, close-minded parent teaches her child that a person can’t marry a car?

Serious question, though: while there’s something undeniably adorable about a mother and child shooting the breeze, conversations very much like this one will inevitably be taking place in public school classrooms across the country if (when?) same-sex marriage is legalized nationally. What happens when Ellas and their little friends answer the question, “What is marriage,” incorrectly? Our guess? It won’t go as smoothly as this 3-minute segment.

  • http://twitter.com/Antillious Chris S

I’m quite sure that if the 5 year old answered in any other way, this “interview” would be burned on site and would never have seen the light of day.

  • Love of Country

Wow …. MSNBC brought in their brain trust ….. they must consider this a big issue, no?

  • TEXANONLY

Whoever the parents are of this kid, are horrible parents.

    • Roto

“…co-host Krystal Ball talks politics with her 5-year-old daughter Ella.”
I missed it too. The elder “Ball” parents must be as loopie as their daughter for naming her “Krystal”.

      • Ken Alan Draper

UHHH…Krystal? I sure hope hope she doesn’t have a brother named Harry. what were her dope smoking parents thinking?

  • https://twitter.com/tweetyuo Tangchung

They coached the kid using gummy bears.

    • Miss Clairee

      Nope Tangchung, it was Twizzlers!

      • https://twitter.com/tweetyuo Tangchung

        Twizzlers that explains it!
You can pretty much train me with Twizzlers.

        • Miss Clairee

Yep, Gummy Bears are strictly for use in the training of 3-4 year olds. After that, Twizzlers are the key. Strawberry Twizzlers to be exact!

          • https://twitter.com/tweetyuo Tangchung

Is this a Jedi Mind Meld trick…. I’m craving Strawberry Twizzlers.

    • Roto

No, the kid got it right in 39 seconds. The hedonism coaching started at 1:47.

  • Anderson

Every time I think MSNBC cant get any more ridiculous, they prove me wrong.

    • ModdKenwood

yet they have the ear(s) of the president…

      • E Quilibrate

I guess that just about gives ’em a full house then.

      • Lisa Abbott

It’s because he can expect their brainless chatter to make it appear that he is somehow successful.

  • waltermitty2012

Why am I surprised, Krystal Ball was once was photographed enjoying her boyfriend’s reindeer “nose” at a Christmas party.

Oh you hush SA! My 5 year old neighbor is my go-to for all our important family decisions……Sarah, should we get a pool or a new Nautique? Sarah: “Get Nautique….. being nautique meeeans I am being baaad and being baaaaad is funner.” Should we send our son in-state or out-of-state to college? Sarah: “What’s a staaaate? Oh Iiiii know what staaaates are. They are those thingys that we eat that are made from cooooows and Mommy says I like them medium well.”

      • Kyle Yates

When you learn how to speak English and get off the kool-aid Ms. Clairee, maybe some one will listen.

        • Miss Clairee

Kyle, when you have had a chance to attend and PASS an English 101 course and learn that “some one” should be “someone,” maybe someone will listen to you. And btw, my 16 year old just corrected you! And it’s Miss Clairee to you, not Ms. Clairee, d!ckhead! Let me guess, you are a product of some left-wing liberal state’s public education system!…..and don’t go editing yourself hon, cause Twitchy is forevah!

          • sueanneh

            Forevaaaahhhhhh

          • Cory

Ma’am I don’t think you should be talking about anyone’s education after your last two posts lol. If you’re the product of conservative education, then I must have been a product of the liberal education system too.

          • Catchance

Miss Clairee is misspelling her posts deliberately, Cory. Lighten up.

          • Miss Clairee

Thanks Catchance! Wow, who knew a silly and sarcastic post on my part about how idiotic it is to engage a 5 year old on an adult topic would elicit so many responses. I wasn’t expecting all the attention! Lol! (*sarc)

          • $36544368

Darlin’, we simply must sit out on the veranda and have a mint julip together at some point! (love your posts!)

        • Cory

Lol, why does everyone say get off the kool aid? I don’t think that many people in America still drink kool aid. Why don’t you say get off the sprite or get off the Chardonnay?

          • Catchance

The phrase “drinking the Kool-Aid” refers to the Jonestown Massacre in 1978, whereby Jim Jones’ followers all drank the poison-laced Kool-Aid and died. Telling someone to stop drinking the Kool-Aid is inferring that he is mindlessly following a dogma (liberalism) or a leader (Obama) without understanding the consequences.

I have a question for you: why do so many liberals feel it’s necessary to sprinkle ‘lol’ everywhere in their posts? Lol.

          • Cory

I don’t know maybe you should ask a liberal lol. I put the lol because I’m literally laughing at the foolishness I’m commenting on. I’m not a liberal btw, I’m not a conservative either. Just a Texan, we don’t bother with labels, Texan is enough.

          • Guest

            Heh. Point taken.

          • 1SkepticalChick

You’re liberal. And low info. And a troll. Trolling a conservative site.
So this Texan laughing at your foolishness.
There is no such thing as “Just a Texan”. Fixed it for ya!

          • Cory

Actually a troll is a furry doll that kids played with when I was growing up. As a Texan I don’t have to make personal attacks, because I understand that you’re probably not happy living in the state you live in. It’s okay, we’d be glad to have you in the lone star state. Maybe then you’ll be more happier and not have to project your feelings on to me. Have a Texan day!

          • Miss Clairee

Cory, you ended one of your sentences with a preposition. In addition, you should have left the word “more” out of your sentence ……”you’ll be more happier….” It should read, “you’ll be happier…” If you ever leave Texas, please don’t move to South Carolina. We very much dislike liberal trolls……and idiots!

          • Cory

While South Carolina is a beautiful state, and I enjoy visiting there, I’d never leave the Great State of Texas for south carolina lol. Again, a troll is a doll that kids played with when I was young and I believe last time I checked I’m a human. Secondly, how many times do I have to tell you that Texans are too smart to be labeled conservative or liberal, the word Texan transcends those labels. We are just simply great. We leave the labels to the other 49 states. I know you don’t understand that since you live in SC, but if you moved here you would. I don’t care about conservative or liberal issues, I just care about Texas and my own issues.

          • Catchance

Trolls also live under bridges and wait for tasty snacks to cross.

          • Cory

True. I forgot I used to do that.

          • Cory

Also the house is as much to blame as the president. They hold the keys to the purse string, and they aren’t doing a good job of it. They were supposed to balance the budget remember? People who follow the GOP also are drinking their share of kool aid too.

          • JannyMae

You need a civics course. The House only produces a budget, and then it has to get through the Senate and past the president’s desk. The House is certainly not “as much to blame as the president.”

          • Cory

The debt limit can’t be raised without the house right? They’ve raised it three times since they’ve been in office, and continually pass CRs at the current funding levels. Money can’t be spent unless the house goes along. They are as much to blame. Maybe you need a civics course refresher.

          • Catchance

It would help if the President or the Senate would even present a budget… as the House does. Balancing a budget requires that you actually have one.

I suppose there might be some Republicans who blindly follow the party line… and yes, they would be partaking of Kool-Aid as well… but the majority of us on this site are Tea Party Conservatives. I personally am much farther to the right than most people… I’m aware of it, and certainly don’t expect others to agree with all of my beliefs, but I’m not going to follow some pol blindly because he has an (R) after his name. (Case in point: John McCain.)

          • Cory

I understand that, but the GOP are big spenders too. Ask them to cut defense, and people go hysterical. You can’t spend money without the house going along too in government. They’ve continually passed CRs to fund the govt at current levels so in my book they’re as much to blame.

          • Michael Rice

Cut defense or cut PBS (AKA liberal tv for kids) funding….which would you rather we get upset about?

          • Cory

Yes 100 million dollars of PBS funding vs. 700 billion of defense. I’ll take the defense cuts.

          • Shotski0

Hey Cory… nice to meet you! The House DID balance the budget. The House has passed a budget every single year since the mid term after Obama took office and every singe one of them has balanced sometime in the next 5 to 10 years.. Harry Reid in the Senate then takes the budget that the house passed, and throws it into the trash can, never to even be discussed in the Senate. The Senate hasn’t passed a budget in the past 4 years.. and the one they passed this year makes us 21 trillion in debt in 3 years, raises taxes by a trillion dollars and barely cuts spending and NEVER balances. NEVER! Get it?

          • Cory

The house GOP keeps passing the continuing resolutions with the same spending levels right? That’s not holding the purse strings. You can’t blame the president or the senate for the house passing those.

          • $36544368

Ah…you enlighten a liberal and suddenly they start using the fancy words against you (i.e., ‘Kool-Aid’) out of context.

          • Cory

Lol is everything left right with you guys? Common sense doesn’t have a ideology.

          • Catchance

Oh, Cory… that’s nonsense. Everyone has a(n) ideology… it’s simply one’s worldview of things. Some people have common sense and others don’t… and generally their ideology will reflect it. For instance, common sense would tell you that if you’re a believer and defender of women’s rights you would not be a defender of Islam; yet that’s what the left believes. It’s their ideology (worldview) but it certainly doesn’t make any sense. They will say that they believe in human rights, yet lift up China as a country we should emulate. It’s common sense that the biggest human right we have is the right to life, yet they push for abortion on demand, for any reason and any time.

          • Cory

I don’t believe that to be true and that’s what’s wrong in our country. Balancing the budget isn’t a left or right idea it’s a common sense idea. Abortion shouldn’t be dictated by the govt., that should be a personal decision between God and them. Get govt. out of our lives. I thought that was the Tea Party was about.

          • Catchance

Balancing the budget is common sense, but look what Obama himself says: “We don’t have a spending problem.” YES WE DO!!! That’s why he doesn’t present a budget or demand that the Senate put the House’s budget to a vote. You’re absolutely right that it shouldn’t be a left or right idea… unfortunately, this Administration is mostly ruled by the Trifecta of Stupid: Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. (And before you repeat yourself, yes, there are those in the GOP who… blah blah blah.)

I understand your belief that the government should not be in the business of dictating about abortion, but you and I will never agree on that issue. Murder is against the law, and most people agree that it should be. Abortions kill babies, pure and simple, and over 99% of them are done for the mother’s convenience. Plus (as I work in a pregnancy care center) I see daily the devastation in their lives as guilt eats them alive.

          • Catchance

No matter what he claims, Cory IS a liberal.

          • $36544368

Uh oh….I put “LOL” in my posts quite often…and I’m not a liberal. I do that because there are so many trolls (read = liberals) that have no sense of humor and like to chastise me when I post on various Twitchy stories. I figured it saves energy of having to write a second post to tell them that I do have a sense of humor.

          • Catchance

Heh. The difference is that liberal trolls aren’t really laughing, and they don’t really think the posts are humorous. They stick “lol” in hoping to look like they’re so much smarter and above the other posters that they’re not bothered by the posts at all… they laugh at them.

        • Michael Rice

I believe she was spelling the words to sound like a five year old was saying them.
Then again, I realize that simple and obvious point may have avoided your detection.

    • Kevin

exactly, what they failed to mention is that she got all her ideas from Elmo, and we all know how that ended up

    • Sons Thunder

That kind of idiocy is why I don’t watch much cable news. The video reminds me of Brian Kilmeade’s Fox and Friends interview with the 4 & 7 year old girls who ran a lemonade stand. Instead of just having a puff piece, the kids were on in order for Kilmeade to ask them about Obama’s “you didn’t build that” comment.

    • camnpat

Why not? If you think about it the left is in constant pursue of taking society back in time. They love to protect Social Security, Medicare, and an education system all coming from ancient times, have taken the economy back to 1995 (with the average household income falling to 95′ levels and falling), are dedicated to take us back in energy production, and now just make kids behave like in the middle ages when you were married and had a kid when you were still a teen since people didn’t live that long. With the health rationing and death panels forming we are also going back to a time when you lived fewer years.

    • Squirrel!

Nah, that cute little girl is obviously having her brain washed by Mommy. She won’t even like boys because it’s SO COOL to like other girls! I have young children & because of all this social engineering going on, I worry about the influence on my children. I am not a closed minded person, but I would never begin having a conversation like this with my child at 5 yrs old. Then again, we aren’t living somewhere that gay marriage is legal & seeing gay couples commonplace. I’m glad for that because I would be loathe to have this conversation with young children.

  • lemondrop1

no five year old child should even understand that. that is sinking lower than low.she should be fired for exploting her kid like that. social services anywhere?

    • disqus_e2F2oUH6C7

Social Services only shows up when guns are involved.

      • lemondrop1

yea i know, however it’s still wrong to ask a 5 year old that. too young to comprehend that

        • disqus_e2F2oUH6C7

You know it’s wrong and so do I, but the mother is on a TV “news” program so it must be OK with Soc. Services.

    • 1SkepticalChick

No 5 year old child DOES understand that. That’s why they are asking her. What an obedient child, she’s says what she’s told to say. She’ll do well at Columbia.

  • Scott Carroll

Alternate headline: “MSNBC does hard hitting expose on why we don’t allow 5 year olds to vote.”

  • Lamontyoubigdummy

    Unclench people. It’s MSNBC.

    They’re all five year olds.

    • grais

That’s for sure. Not only would I not seek or heed the advice or opinion of a five year old, this kid’s 30 year old mother would never be on my list of ‘people whose thoughts matter’, either.

    • E Quilibrate

Yeah, just some with really bad hormonal issues.

    • Ken Alan Draper

your comment does a disservice to the majority of 5 year olds. even a 5 year old knows stealing & murder are bad, unlike anyone at MSNBC.

  • Jack Peterson

This is how dogma is passed on to a new generation.

  • TheOriginalDonald

Someone ask that 5 year old if she should get OTC bc???????????????

  • louisiana_mom

Oh, yeah, because I totally get advice from a 5 year old on the direction we should take as a nation… ugh!

    • E Quilibrate

Kinda like Jimmy Carter getting input from Amy on nuclear proliferation in the
’70’s. Liberals have always done really stupid things like this. It’s who they are.

  • Eric Hutchison

You people al need to wake up. This very same kind of far-left indoctrination is going on in every public school in America, K thru 12 and college. It’s why the tide has turned in favor of Godlessness and far-left social and political agendas in this country. They’re winning the war, and it starts with your children in the schools. Once they al grow up, they become far-left voters.

    • Belinda Henson

My child had public education, and all the way thru he found mostly far left teachers, but I taught him the right ways at home, he is 17 and still conservative Don’t let the schools do your parenting, and we might have a fighting chance.

  • sueanneh

“Hey little girl, do you think it’s ok for mommies to kill their babies while they’re still in her tummy”?

  • Guest

This network of people on msnbc are just stupid. So if you are in love with a girl and youre a girl,it should be ok to marry. And you notice how she has to get the little girl to agree with her.So its ok to marry who we fall in love with, what if we are in love with 3 men or women, should we have the ability legally to marry all three?Because this is what is coming down the pipe by trying to redine marriage between one man and one woman. Why not? This whole thing is opening the door for a wide range of stupid things to come.Lord help us.

    • Christoph DeHaven

Absolutely right. And if you think about it, polygamy is much LESS of a stretch than SSM…about 80% of cultures have polygamy (zero have SSM, despite what the left would have people believe) and it’s also not deemed a sin in the Bible. If SSM passes, there will be no rational reason to deny polygamy.

      • Cory

Polygamy shouldn’t be outlawed either. It doesn’t affect me.

        • JannyMae

So, anything that doesn’t affect you should be legal?

          • Cory

No one has given me a reason to think otherwise. It’s in the Bible…

        • 1SkepticalChick

So since it doesn’t affect you then you should have no opinion either way.

          • Cory

Does it affect you personally? Do you have an opinion? Thought so.

          • 1SkepticalChick

I think you should read the rest of the Bible.

          • Cory

I have read the entire Bible. I personally wouldn’t want more than one wife because she’s enough woman for me. But why does govt. get to make that decision for me? You still haven’t given me a reason why polygamy affects you personally.

          • $45875941

Be careful, you’ll be accused of coming across as a biblical scholar!

      • Roto

I bet there will be plenty of court cases for addendums to SSM laws. By Krystal Ball’s logic (her freakin parents must be as loopie as she is for naming her that), why shouldn’t my brother and I be allowed to marry? We love each other, and he’s a person — not a tree or a car. And we both could sure use the tax breaks!!!

    • Roto

Yea, it was a total failure for the pMSNBC agenda. The child defined marriage in 39 seconds WITHOUT any coaching. The hedonism brainwashing started at 1:47.

  • dkhilly

Hmmmm despite my explanations to the contrary, my 5-year-old says she wants to marry her, dad, her brother, her cousin, her old music teacher, etc…someday, she’ll look back on this and laugh. In the meantime, I won’t be going to her for advice on the defining marriage topic.

    • Sandra Arnold

My 5 year old granddaughter not only says she is going to marry her Papa she insisted on a marriage ceremony at Christmas before we could leave for Disney World…LOL

    • Ken Alan Draper

either she’ll laugh or she’ll move to arkansas & make her dreams come true. LOL! sorry Razorbacks, I couldn’t resist.

  • Maxx

Just think, in about seven years, she’ll be qualified to give the President advice on the nuclear arms race and new Cold War, right Jimmy?

  • brewerandpatriot

They should ask that five year old how she feels about her $53,000 in debt this administration has stuck her and all her classmates with.

  • Belinda Henson

Wow, only on MSNBC would they interview a 5yr old on gay marriage. Maybe why no one watches it

  • orringtonmom (D)

if they are going to bring in the 5 year olds, they should do it for every topic… go ahead… ask a 5 year old if mommy should be allowed to kill her baby sister or brother before it’s born.

  • TJ

If she wants to marry that old man on that hands out candy at the park from the van she loves that should be fine as well. If you object you are a closed mined something.

  • detroit19

Yep, because I ALWAYS consulted my five year olds (I had 3 of my own, 2 girls, 1 boy), as well as my 11 nieces and nephews, 1 granddaughter and 9 great nieces and nephews on the issue of gay marriage. Sorry, but we never got past ‘best Mac ‘n’ Cheese’, Where the Wild Things Go, The Giving Tree, Goosey Loosey, Black Beauty, Anne of Green Gables. Ooops, forgot The Bible. Instead, my husband and I (heterosexuals) and all of my siblings (heterosexuals) taught by the example of our (heterosexual) parents. Stop, already. Your choice is your choice. It doesn’t,/shouldn’t matter whether I accept your lifestyle choice any more than whether you accept my choice. I have NEVER second guessed what I chose and the effect on the life of my loved ones. You?

  • Richard Klinnett

What audience do they have left??!!!

  • Jonny Crytzer

What an interview!..The little girl had already said marriage between a man and a woman ( Boy and Girl), and when her mother couldn’t get her to say otherwise, her mother guided her in the “man-man” “woman-woman” direction!..

  • R.C.

Have the liberals considered the impact this will have on islam?

    • 1SkepticalChick

Snort! From comments above I’d say not unless it directly affects said liberal.

  • billy86

MSNBC should put the little girl in charge.

  • J.N. Ashby

    Her name is Krystal Ball?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1538376219 Stacey Holmdahl

      That’s what I was thinkin’!

  • froggy19510

Only a pervert would do something like that.

  • RightThinking1

She might have asked, “Can a little girl have two mommies?”
At which point the child might lie, if she has been taught to, or she might be honest…, which would shine a light on the hypocrisy of those who believe that homosexual ‘marriage’ is okay.

  • EastValleyConservative

Way to go on exploiting a child, no coaching going on there…

  • Cory

I’m pretty sure the 5 year old’s opinion is a lot more rational than those in Washington currently.

  • kim

MSNBC, maybe you could ask the kid what she thinks of a President and Sec of State who sit back and watch 4 of our people be murdered, in real time, no less, without lifting a finger to help

  • Cory

If you don’t like public education, then send your kids to private school. Stop whining sheesh.

    • nc

Then you support school vouchers, right?

      • Cory

Nope pay for your own kids. My mom was a single mother and worked two jobs to send me to private school. If she could do it, y’all can do it too. Don’t depend on the government.

        • Hiraghm

Fine, don’t depend on the gov’t. Then don’t take tax dollars from me to fund PUBLIC schools. Make only those who have kids attending public schools pay for public schools.

          • Cory

Yep try getting that through congress lol. My mom still had to pay those taxes while sending me to private school. I’m sure you can do the same.

          • nc

Maybe if we had school vouchers your mother wouldn’t have needed that second job. That’s the point.

  • Driver_S

Brain washing & conditioning of young minds at home and in the schools. It’s the same thing the Nazis did to the young people.

    • Cory

Nothing like the daily Nazi reference lol. I’m sure your boy Adolf is proud.

      • Hiraghm

“your boy”? The left owns Hitler, along with all the other socialist dictators.

        • Cory

The left doesn’t own anybody neither does the right. Slavery was done away with back in the 1860s. I was just commenting that some people like you love to bring up Hitler. Let the man go, he’s dead. Nobody needs to remember that scrub.

          • mike_in_kosovo

“Let the man go” – maybe you should have thought of that before YOU brought him up?

          • Cory

Actually the guy I first replied to brought him up sir.

          • mike_in_kosovo

Incorrect – the poster mentioned *Nazis*, YOU brought up Hitler.

I’m sure your boy Adolf is proud.

Not to mention, of course, the fact that National Socialism is much more akin to liberalism than conservatism.

          • Cory

Who’s the leader of the Nazis?

          • mike_in_kosovo

The guy YOU made first mention of….*YOUR* boy, Adolf.

You’re not going to backpedal out of this one, bud… might as well just admit that YOU were the one that brought up Hitler and “moveon”…

          • Cory

I’m not backpedaling lol the guy brought up Hitler with the Nazi reference lol. That’s doesn’t seem like backpedaling to me.

          • mike_in_kosovo

Nope…he brought up NAZIS with the Nazi reference – Hitler was all yours.

For a supposed Doctor, you aren’t all that bright, are you?

          • Cory

Hitler = Nazi just like Christ = Christianity. Lol. I’m surprised you didn’t know that Hitler was over the Nazis. Looks like you’re not the bright one.

          • mike_in_kosovo

Hitler = Nazi like Christ = Christianity

Analogy fail….mention of the ideology (or religion) doesn’t equate to mention of the founder.

And you’re *still* (stupidly) trying to backpedal your way out of it and looking more and more stupid the more you try.

I’m surprised you didn’t know that Hitler was over the Nazis.

You really *ARE* a special kind of stupid, aren’t you?

Looks like you’re not the bright one.

Given the two sentences quoted above, you were obviously looking in your mirror as your wrote that last one.

          • Cory

Lol, you seem to be upset good sir. Hitler = Nazi. Plain and simple. That’s not a backpedal, that’s a fact. How about you go home to your wife or husband(I don’t judge) and blow off some steam. You’re pretty tense dude.

          • mike_in_kosovo

I’m not upset at all – yet ANOTHER failed ASSumption on your part.

Hitler = Nazi. Plain and simple.

Yup, you’re plainly stupid and simple-minded, all right.

The first rule of holes is “When you’re in one, stop digging.” Evidently you’re not capable enough to realize you’re already up to your chin.

          • Cory

I’m not in a hole, I’m actually on a couch. Secondly Hitler = Nazi. Thirdly you don’t have to be so upset man lol. Maybe a little Jergens will help that aggression because obviously you ain’t getting none being that mad lol.

          • mike_in_kosovo

Thanks for proving my point…too stupid to realize you’re neck deep.

          • Cory

Only the uneducated resort to name calling lol. Again go relieve some of that aggression. Obviously you have anger problems lol.

          • mike_in_kosovo

Only the uneducated resort to name calling lol.

Acknowledging that you’re too stupid to realize you’ve painted yourself into a corner isn’t name calling, chief…it’s a simple statement of fact.

Obviously you have anger problems lol.

Takes a much better troll than you to make me angry – don’t flatter yourself.

Obviously you get a lot of your exercise leaping to (false) conclusions.

          • Cory

I’m not in a corner lol. I’m in an open space.

          • mike_in_kosovo

I’m sure that you think so.

          • fireflydet

I’m with Cory on this one. The op brought up nazis and hitler by corollary. Mike you just sound butthurt.

          • mike_in_kosovo

You sound as defensive as he does, scrambling to cover his butt.

          • Cory

Lol I hope you have a nice day good sir. Go relieve that aggression.

          • mike_in_kosovo

And you go relieve that ignorance.

          • Cory

I think you meant greatness and that can’t be relieved.

          • mike_in_kosovo

So, reading comprehension isn’t your forte’, either?

          • Cory

Actually I read and comprehend quite well hence me being a physician.

          • mike_in_kosovo

Actually I read and comprehend quite well

            Statement unsupported by evidence.

            hence me being a physician.

            I pity your patients.

          • Cory

Don’t worry they sleep very well.

    • Roto

That’s exactly what it is. The mother didn’t say anything like, “Now Ella, to be fair, we are called liberals here in New York City. Many people in the rest of the country don’t think like we do. We believe that if something brings you pleasure, you should do it no matter what other people think. We even had a President of the United States like us!! But, the only way we get what we want is by tricking our government and the courts into thinking that a tree is a car. Understand?”

  • Roy

Lets not forget who Krystal ball is. First she had the “leaked” photos of her and a red dildo, then this is the same one who dated her boss. Morals isn’t on her to do list.

    • kate_middleton

What’s the story about her boss?

  • kate_middleton

I just showed this to my husband (who has known Krystal Ball for years) and he was utterly appalled.

  • rivers

What a five year old thinks about serious matters hasn’t had any influence on me since I was four.

  • http://reaganff.tumblr.com/ reaganFF

Let’s ask my five-year-old what she thinks about taking her Daisy BB gun away from her. I guarantee that is a conversation that will involve crime statistics and a schooling on the Second Amendment.

  • American.Vet

They paid her for her appearance with a months supply of the Plan B pill

  • Idlewylde

Kinda dumb. The Far Left. Wants children to “report adults”, who deny Global Warming. Now an adult goes to a child for advice on what marriage is?

  • Roto

Krystal…. Ball…. sounds like there’s been poor decision-making skills in that family for a long time.

You can’t marry a tree or a car… but you can marry Twiight Sparkle from My Little Pony.

    http://jezebel.com/5992074/man-engaged-to-my-little-ponys-twilight-sparkle-defends-her-honor-on-the-internet

But there is no slippery slope when talking in regards to allowing gay marriage…

  • pjsolarz

The debate is not over who you can marry… you can marry anyone you want. The debate is over what the verbage of “married” is. A union between same sex couples should be called unions or a partnership or some other label. If you want the same bennefits as married couples, move to a state that allows it or legislate for it or find companies that pander to it. Don’t try and change 100’s of years of traditions to pander to less that 3% of the population

  • Hiraghm

This is what happens when you let the enemy define the debate.
It should never have been conceded that homosexual is a third sex; the truth should have been maintained that it is a mental / emotional illness and not a different kind of person.

  • http://twitter.com/WheresTheCeph #1 Ceph Rocka

Look at that wonderfully unbiased mind.

  • Paul Woodman

Ella’s first question was; “what is marriage?” answer; “I don’t know” so the rest of the interview was scripted.

  • Orpheus75

How about if they bring in little children to ask about OTHER issues, like rape, murder, abortion, guns/control, polygamy? I mean really, if children say it’s okay, then it must be. From Obama’s gun control to everything else, the Progressive Left really like using children to their arguments. They really have no shame. Or as the one Tweet stated: “They reason like children”.

  • Belinda Henry

I only ask 5 year olds for advice on booze.

  • Jeffrey Olah

that’s the mindset of the PMSNBC audience anyway

    • RedSoloCup

      Ding!

  • Shelly

A true practiced indoctrination. The little girl learned her lines well. Way to go mommy!

  • radicallyalyssa

This is annoying. So tired of people exploiting children.

  • http://www.facebook.com/timothy.mohr.7 Timothy Mohr

Oh yeah, that 5 year old convinced me…. not really. 5 year old’s can say anything, especially when they are led to say it, that don’t make it fact. 5 year old’s will say that Superman is real, that Barbie is their best friend, and Spiderman could beat up Yoda. You really think that a 5 year old can give a serious answer to a political question? I mean just look at the interviews they had during Christmas,http://www.today.com/video/today/50277854/#50277854 don’t get me wrong, it’s a cute segment, and I’m not attacking the children in any way. But as Krystal Ball’s daughter may say “It’s Crazy!” to think that young children are the “experts” on just about anything, especially gay marriage. All her daughter did was agree with her. “It’s okay for two people to get married if they love each other, right?” “right” “but not to get married to a car.” “no” “They should be able to get married if they really love each other right?” “Right” “They need to change the laws on this right?” “Right”. If she said “It’s okay to get married to a car right?” most likely her daughter would say “right” All that aside, if children really are the experts on gay marriage, how come no news networks reported this 11 year old girl’s testimony? http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=0FFEMJNU or for that matter, why don’t they report this gay man’s opposition to gay marriage? http://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/2013/03/9432/ There will always be two sides of an issue, but we must stick to facts and engage in civil discussions, not use emotion and name call those who do not agree with us.

    • http://www.facebook.com/timothy.mohr.7 Timothy Mohr

Not to mention, with the question of if a girl can marry a girl, was it just me or did it look like the mother was flirting? Beyond creepy and all the more reason to ignore the segment as a whole.

      Excellent point, Tim! See my opinion (above). Jawamax 8<{D}

Actually, no I won’t be having this conversation with my class. I am too busy teaching them to read, write, and become solid mathematicians. I teach social skills that help them become productive citizens. There are only so many hours in the day and this won’t be a part of mine – that’s a parent’s job. Period.

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    Kids have vivid imaginations (you should have seen me when I was five!), but leading them to YOUR opinion for the purpose of pushing an agenda is WRONG! If they think they can Marry a car, they will grow out of those thoughts as they mature. In fact, we used to pick on a family friend’s youngest child by getting him to say “I like Jelly on Pizza;” This year, he’s retiring from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department. Watch how fast that kid starts taking on conservative trends, once she gets older! Jawamax 8<{D}

I wonder what Tingles had to say, the old pervert.

  • http://twitter.com/le_miroir_noir Brandon Broadwater

As a liberal, I decided to take a curious look at the comments here as I normally do to get a feel for what conservatives are feeling about various issues. And I have to say it blows me away how many narrow-minded people are positing that this reporter is brainwashing her daughter in some sort of negative manner or that comparing the view of a child in regards to a basic human emotion is comparable to talking nuclear policy or the war. The video is simply an attempt to show that for many children who see gay people in relationships in their communities and families, there is no built-in aversion to homosexual relationships. It is extremely ironic that people commenting here are citing this as brainwashing this young girl with “dogma,” “propaganda,” “liberal lies,” etc. when in fact many people here are citing their own dogmas or religions to justify their own held beliefs that have been passed down from their own parents often times. Now I’m sure I will be regarded as a liberal troll by the masses here, but there are my thoughts on the matter. I will say that I am really glad though that the majority of Americans are coming to terms with reality and seeing the inclusion of gays into the legal, economic, and titular benefits of marriage as something that is rightly non-threatening to the fabric of American society. And fortunately for us who support our gay family, friends, and neighbors, it is only a matter of time before marriage equality and economic equality come to fruition for homosexuals.

    • Ed

Left to their own devices no child at the age of 5 would ever think marrying someone of the same gender was normal.

So it’s clear she was put up to it by her far left mother and father assuming she has one.

  • dkhilly

    Why just two people?

  • ERMERGERD

Or what about siblings? Marriage should have nothing to do with government, and if that happens, I don’t care if gays, polygamists, or siblings want to consider themselves married. You are quite close minded.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joseph.a.white.16 Joseph A White

Alrighty then…I am a male. I love my brother more than anything. Since deformed babies cannot come from our union, is it cool with you if my brother and I get married?? How about Dad?? Can I marry him?? He’s so lonesome now that Mom’s gone, and I really love him.

  • Hiraghm

She is a ward of her parents. I’m sure the mental hospitals are filled with citizens with opinions. They just haven’t been elected to the Senate yet.

  • lemondrop1

you don’t really mean that? she’s 5!! how can she grasp the meaning of what she was asked? should we now ask opinions of all 5 year olds as to what we should do about N. Korea too? maybe they should advise congress now?

  • James McLarey

How cute, “Guest”. Don’t have the balls to attach your comments to your own name. Gutless POS!

  • dkhilly

What if the siblings are certifiably steril? Or gay sibling who for obvious reasons won’t make babies.

  • thetreyman

it takes generations of inbreeding to cause those kinds of deformities. so who are you to tell a brother and sister they cant marry? it doesnt affect you. they love each other and that is all that matters. the government is here to protect people who love each other from feeling like they are second class citizens. would it be better if it were two brothers or two sisters? then you dont have to worry about those “genetic reasons”.

  • ERMERGERD

Who are you to tell people what they can and can’t do? You want to control who can have kids now? I think you need to re-evaluate your positions. You’re coming across as a hypocrite.

  • dkhilly

Also does that mean people with genetic deformities or ailments that are likely to get passed on should not be allowed to marry?

  • dkhilly

    How?

  • dkhilly

So it’s okay in a lawless country, but not here?

  • ERMERGERD

Same could be said for same sex couples. Instead of seeking court approval, they can just leave. Your hypocrisy is showing again.

  • dkhilly

Honestly read an article suggesting dads might want to marry sons in the mom is gone scenario so they could pass on the inheritance without a death tax…talk about a loophole!

  • dkhilly

…..and I think this “trolling the troll” conversation is a perfect example of why this issue is waaaay out of expertise range for a 5-year-old. It’s been fun. Goodnight.

  • Maxx

Ironic that someone who supports an organization that aborts 330,000 fetuses in one year claims to be concerned about the “status” of others. I guess all fetuses are future penis owners, is that what you’re going to run with?

You claim women are “second-class” citizens. What class do you hypocrites identify the unborn you demand the right to abort at your whim?

And FWIW, NO conservative woman I know thinks of herself as a second-class citizen. Go shill your “woe is us, war on women” schtick down the road at Huff Po, where the imbecilic, led by the nose lemmings eat that stuff right up.

    We’re not buying it here.

  • Guest

How are women being regulated to second-class status? Please use actual examples.

  • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

Your pal Barry is the one that signed the Monsanto Protection Act. Get it straight on your GMOs.

As for respecting life, it’s hard to top Margaret Sanger and her disciple, Dr Kermit Gosnell Death, Democrats both.

  • aegean1

Because I don’t want to have to explain what “regulated,” “second class,” “status,” “conservative,” and “GMO” mean. SHE’S FIVE YEARS OLD! Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you? Do you go to a five year old for investment advice?!

  • Catchance

You’re the ones who think Islam is such a great peace-loving religion. Why don’t you ask your Muslim friends why their women have to fight tooth and nail not to be regulated to second-class status? Oh. Right. They’ve always been considered property with no rights of their own but what their husbands give them.

As far as no respect for life? At first I thought, with 1.5 million babies killed each year by compassionate Democrats, surely ‘Guest’ is being ironic. Sadly, I guess not. You’re just a…. liberal.

  • 1SkepticalChick

In America women have every right that any man has. That is the law, it’s in the Constitution. Period. The battle recognizing that fact has been fought and won here. Do not go to any little girl in America and try to make her think that she still has to fight for her rights as a female citizen of this country when those rights are now, and have been, acknowledged for decades and are well established in law and in our Constitution. The fact is, just like any little boy, she needs is to be taught what those rights guaranteed to her by our Constitution are and how to exersize them. Anything else is a lie. The laws are there, women should stand on them and enforce their rights, not go around whining that they have to fight for them…more…again…still. And they should damn sure get in the face of anyone who tries to tell them that they don’t have those rights yet much less have those rights at all. It is not the law in some other countries so go beat that drum somewhere else. Go ahead, try to treat me like a second class anything. I’m waiting, right here, in your face.

Liberal’s lobbied for GMO’s, not conservative’s, and Obama signed them in, so thank your daddy for that.

Conservatives are, for the most part, pro-life. EVERY life. Liberals are, again for the most part, pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, pro-selective birth, pro-anythinggoesunlessitdirectlyaffectsme. You are either completely stupid or a lying propagandist. I think both.

  • Hiraghm

    “relegated” not “regulated”.

  • Jack Peterson

If your comment even made sense then I could discuss it. The video was an emotional appeal to a 5 YR OLD. Religions teach doctrine usually via written documentation. When you reach puberty you will figure it out.

  • JannyMae

It’s okay for teachers to shove their SECULAR beliefs down kids’ throats, though, right? Too bad you can’t be consistent in your standards. Then again, if it weren’t for double standards, liberals would have no standards at all.

  • Catchance

    Wow! Angry much?

Oh, and btw, show me where it says there is to be a separation between Church and State in the Constitution.

  • 1SkepticalChick

“Don’t shove your beliefs down other people’s throats.”. Back at you, hypocrite. Liberal education reading skills assesement: Failure to read and understand the Constitution – A+. Ability to cause what is read and not understood say whatever he/she pleases – A+. You’re on a roll!

  • Hiraghm

Separation of Church and State was a reference to protecting the former from the latter. But you knew that already. It’s freedom to exercise, not freedom from exposure to, religion. It’s freedom of speech, not freedom from speech.

Don’t shove your beliefs down other people’s throats? You mean like the war on tobacco? The war on fossil fuels? The promotion of the faux religion of Earth Worship and it’s main tenet, Anthropomorphic Global Warming? The promotion of “green” technologies, no matter how weak and wasteful, no matter how expensive the endless failed but gov’t propped attempts are?

What’s being shoved down people’s throat is the belief that one, specific alternative sexual appetite constitutes a unique sex in and of itself. What’s being shoved down people’s throats is the false premise that a mental/emotional illness is healthy and normal.

  • Hiraghm

No, it’s only Apples and Oranges if people accept the notion that homosexuality constitutes a 3rd sex, and is not, in fact the mental/emotional disorder it is.
