In its Sunday morning broadcast, the network aired a segment on Mary, mother of Jesus. Unfortunately, it seems the fact-checkers were off for the Easter Holiday. During her report, Martha Teichner stated that John the Baptist was present at the Crucifixion. Had Teichner checked her Bible, she might have noticed that his preexisting condition would have made his presence highly unlikely:
.@CBSSunday Major error in story on Mary. The "Beloved Disciple" may have been John the Evangelist, not John the Baptist, who was beheaded.

To its credit, CBS updated its video and transcript and issued a correction:
EDITOR’S NOTE: An earlier version of this story mis-identified the possible “beloved disciple” as John the Baptist.
Hopefully CBS will be more careful the next time around.
