Terry McMillan: Passing 10-round limit should be ‘no brainer’

We suspected that author Terry McMillan would be a supporter of gun control, but we’re surprised to find she’s actually a bitter clinger of sorts.

Ten rounds? What kind of gun nut needs 10 rounds? New York State knew that “common sense” gun safety called for a strict limit of seven rounds, despite the fact that seven-round capacity magazines don’t exist. It’s a moot point anyway, as firearms expert Joe Biden has assured the nation that all anyone needs is a shotgun and two shells. Don’t even get us started on those extremists in Colorado and their 15-round magazines.

    Well…. If anyone knows about no-brain activities it’s ==> @MsTerryMcMillan

  • V the K

    Jeez… didn’t she turn a man gay?

    Why yes she did.

    No one can blame him.

    • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

Not even 10 rounds at the bar could make a man want her.

      • Miss Clairee

Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a WINNER!

      • Scott Anderson

Are we sure she isn’t a character played by Ellen Cleghorn?

      • SpinMeNot

        Absinthe? maybe …

    • Dale Black

Well that’s embarrassing. And let’s be fair–she didn’t turn him gay, he already was gay. Nevertheless, she wrote a best-selling novel about her romance with him. According to the sleeve blurb:

“Stella soon realizes she has come to a cataclysmic juncture: not only must she confront her hopes and fears about love, she must question all of her expectations, passions, and ideas about life and the way she has lived it.”

Too bad none of those questions asked why he plucked his eyebrows and kept staring at the cabana boys. My favorite part of your linked story:

“Plummer says he was faithful to McMillan for all 6½ years of their marriage, and although he registered on a gay dating Web site, it was just to look.(yeah, riiigght. ed.) He said McMillan has harassed him since he came out about his sexuality.

“She’s came at my job numerous times, unannounced, yelling at me in front of clients,” Plummer said. “And she’s calling myself and my lawyer low-life scums.””

How tolerant. Note to Terry: avoid making “no brain” decisions. They don’t seem to work for you.

      • Catchance

I dunno… I think ‘no brain’ defines her perfectly.

    • rennyangel2

      Cheapest sex surgery yet.

    • Tango Niner

Once you’ve had that, you never go back!

    • TocksNedlog

      She’s turn any man gay.

  • Kyle Schroeck

    My Ruger 380 LCP has a 7 round magazine… And my .40 has a 14 rounder.

    • Zapzipzim

I like Rugers generally, but I tried an LCP out at the range and really didn’t like the narrow, short grip or the sights. Have you modified yours at all?

  • prescient11

In 1860, the Henry repeating rifle fired approximately 130 rounds in a minute. You frigging idiots. THAT WAS ONE MINUTE. More than a hundred years ago. This is not new technology. Nuff said.

    • RightThinking1

In case you’ve never seen it, fastest revolver reload:

      • $45875941

At 58 years old, Jerry’s amazing. You can’t really see his reloads with the naked eye. Would love to watch him in slo-mo!

    • Mike Faber

Heire is a link to the Henry Wiki Page. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_rifle

It says 28 rounds a minute with a 16 round tube capacity. Where are you getting your figures?

    • SpinMeNot

Unmodified? The Henry had a 16 round internal tubular magazine if I remember my Louis Lamour correctly …

    • Rabid

In all the numbers they spew, the ONE fact they omit: No one was shooting back.

      • Tango Niner

Great point that nobody mentions. No liberal wants a gun in schools because they’re evil, yet evil only happens when a gun is brought into a school.

It’s hard to imagine what liberals must think on a daily basis. Some days I try and it scares the crap out of me.

  • tony30088

Ammo is heavy. The limit has already been defined by the laws of gravity. No-brainer …. No further laws required.

    • Tango Niner

This might be why the limp weasel in the Sandy shooting left the AR in the trunk. Damn thing was too heavy or bulky (not concealable).

I wish I was in the school when he walked in. I’d bet a simple passer-bye chit-chat could have resulted in a hand-to-hand solution (no gunfire for the liberals). The liberals don’t want this sort of option, they want everyone but the criminals disarmed. Boy, they’d have us relying on them then.

Also, It would make O(you chose) look less a king.

  • Jack Deth

Didn’t Ms. McMillan use to be somebody. Around forty years ago?

    • TexSizzle

      Not that I’m aware of.

      • cgraham77

As far as I know, the only thing she’s known for is writing a modern love story, based on the true events of how she met her one true love…

…who then came out of the closet as gay, and then left her for his gay lover!…

…oops, that part all happened post-publication and movie production. My bad 😛

    • SpinMeNot

No, you are the thinking of the old McMillan and Wife TV show …

    • TocksNedlog

She used to THINK she was somebody. Does that count?

  • waltermitty2012

Before I make up my mind, I really need to know what Cher thinks. Not!

  • u_scruffy_nerf_herder

Eric Harris was limited to 10-round mags for a 9 mm carbine, he just carried a bunch of them.

  • Bill Board

    Terry McMillan is a “no-brainer”.

  • Scott Anderson

If a ten round limit is good, then why not a nine round limit? Why not ban bullets instead, you miserable crone?

Or is ten the minimum? Why aren’t you protesting cuomo’s seven round limit?

Tell you what Terry: you go ahead and give up your guns and I’ll keep mine, and we can agree to disagree. That would be diverse and tolerant.

  • Scott Anderson

Several ten round magazines would be fine in one of your gun free zones, terry McMillan.

  • Maxx

You can’t be taken seriously in this conversation if all you do is parrot some indiscriminate number like she is doing here. If the liberal cackling hens had arbitrarily decided six rounds was one too many, she would be advocating for that like all the other reactionary, mindless fools.

This poor imbecile who doesn’t know a clip from a magazine is incapable of explaining WHY she thinks 10 rounds is ok when 11 is not and yet still she feels compelled to dictate to law abiding gun owners what we can own and what we cannot.

  • RblDiver

She’s right, it’s a no-brainer. You have no brain if you think that’ll solve anything.

    • Love of Country

My clips hold 19 …. just the way I like it. And frankly I don’t intend to sell my clips and/or my guns ie settle for less just because so many liberals raise a bunch of killers …. in fact, they’re precisely why we need most our guns (in self defense) in the first place, no?

Thousand dollars says that not only do all of the bodyguards in Hollywood and on the Hill own clips with more than 10 rounds …. but that Jim Carrey’s own bodyguard also has clips exceeding 10 rounds.

Another thousand says that Jim thinks you’re a certified knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing predator if you want a clip that holds just one more bullet than what his bodyguards have ….. bet ya! :)

Says Jim ….. “Well my bodyguard only has 11 or 12 rounds in his clip. If you want 15 in yours then you hate children and want them all murdered, you white trash piece of garbage. You can’t deny what I just said if you want two or three more bullets in your clip than my bodyguards have … Die!”

  • http://www.facebook.com/richard.jefferies.96 Richard Jefferies

I demand then that the police are limited to 10 rounds or less.

  • Lawrence Kennon

AR-15 carbine with a collapsible buttstock and 30 round magazine is one of the best possible weapons for home defense, and one of the safest (it uses one of the least powerful centerfire rifle cartridges in existence and that coupled with high velocity frangible rounds makes it less likely to shoot through walls and hit a family member by accident). I cover this detail on my blog (very first post published): “Who Needs An Assault Rifle.”

  • rennyangel2

NY has just discovered there are no 7-round magazines and its law makes cops’ guns and procedures illegal and are about to rewrite the idjit SAFE act because it isn’t. Dem. legislators who know nothing of guns (or most any thing else) should stay out of the issue.

  • Mark Stephens

Do any of these people actually know how easy and quick it is to change magazines? It is not the gun, the bullet, or the magazine that is the problem. It is the person holding the weapon and who decides to pull the trigger. I know I’m repeating the same argument that has been make over and over. Maybe I’m just hoping that some day a little thing that I like to call “logic” will be discovered.

And no, I am not holding my breath for it.

  • Stephen L. Hall

Terry McMillan would be an expert on no-brainers.

  • catholic_citizen

I can put an awful lot of rounds downrange – accurately – with my revolver and speedloaders. No doubt that will be next.

    Can I keep my flintlocks?

    • SpinMeNot

Only until the EPA decides that the chemicals to clean that nasty BP residue are damaging to the environment and forces them off the market. Of course, we could then do it the old fashion way with elbow grease, but then they’ll declare the residue itself illegal.

EPA, DoED both need to go. Apparently they are after sulphur in Gasoline now, heard the tail end of something driving home.

      • catholic_citizen

        Guess it’s back to crossbows………

    • kenai

The ‘incredibly deadly’ revolver that could ‘fire six rounds as fast as you could pull the trigger’ was was the poster gun for the beginning of gun control/confiscation in England. The ‘incredibly deadly assault gun’ isn’t really anything new. It’s just a page from the very old playbook for gun confiscation.

  • RightThinking1

“Sometimes I don’t know what role the Constitution plays..”

    • Tango Niner

I do. Let me give her an example.

I have a gun, you have a gun. Don’t infringe on any of my constitutional rights and I won’t infringe on yours. We good?

I don’t want to go through them all, but keep in mind, the 2nd Amendment protects the rest.

The only reason it wasn’t the first was because it was freedom of speech (Paul Revere) that warned us of the gun confiscation coming. Apparently, warning others is important?! See where I’m going with this?

Now how do you feel about our current media? Scary, if you ask me!

I believe in two things, God and the United States Constitution. Try and take either one from me!

      • RightThinking1

We’re on the same page. Just to verify …, I was making a play on Terry Mcmillan’s tweet :”Sometimes, I don’t know what role Congress really plays.”.

Agreed that the media have become Fifth Columnists.

        • Tango Niner

I know, it was the quotes. Most people on here know the facts. Just though I would take advantage of the opportunity. Either way, I think we are winning the battle with these liberals.

I should have substituted “you” in the second sentence with “her”. Changing now!

Re-reading it, I found a couple of typos. Good reason not to write when having a couple beers (Catholic). Happy Easter!

  • http://twitter.com/1RandiStarr Randi Starr

Just another BS comment, can’t this woman find something productive to do? Volunteer at a shelter, time at a food bank?

  • MrApple

Her next novel is tentatively titled How Stella Got Her Gun Back.

  • kenai

Yep, it’s a no brainer….for those with no brains.

  • Tango Niner

I have a family that I love, just like you (criminals aren’t reading this). My enemy, probably not! When I’m an average person who buys a handgun, rifle or shotgun with standard magazines (clips to the layperson), (9mm – 15 rounds, AR15 – 30 rounds, Shotgun – Biden or better) I might be LUCKY to protect myself from 1-3 criminals in my home.

I would do fine, my wife, admittedly wouldn’t.

I love guns for many reasons and none of them for collecting body counts, unless it’s those who threaten our well being.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess she has bodyguards!

  • http://twitter.com/RockThePocket DavidEKnight

Back to the subject. What kind of weapon do I need to defend my family and myself against a motivated (crazy) shooter that can shoot 30, 33 rounds a minute? An assault BB gun? Blanket? Noooo. Anything I think I need. Please ref 2nd amendment congresme

  • TocksNedlog

It never changes. Those that espouse “equality”
    despise “liberty”.

  • NRPax

“Sometimes, I don’t know what role Congress really plays.”

You poor, illiterate sweetie. Let me help you.

Article One, Section Eight of the Constitution spells out the role Congress plays. If you need some help, maybe ask one of your friends with an actual education to help you with the bigger words and the tougher concepts, OK?

  • RedSoloCup

Give Terry the Terrible a break, after all she’s only parroting what MSNBC tells her…

  • Michael Rice

Ban big sodas and people just buy two smaller ones….hmmmm.

  • Raye09

Terry McMillan just comes off as a very sad pathetic woman. I almost feel sorry for her. Let’s review what she has done:

Writes books based on her misery

Marries a man she knew was gay and using her as a meal ticket just to save face

Writes more books about her misery

    Goes on racist twitter rants

Goes on twitter rants about guns

    Complains of racism

Yes, Ms. McMillan has such a fulfilled life. It consist of so many vital and life changing points for us mere mortals who have yet to make Oprah’s book club list. Really, she needs to shut her mouth and actually do something constructive(like read the constitution).
