Bob Beckel demands ‘amazing, big apology’ from commies at CBS

Veterans — and anyone else — who has sworn off Bob Beckel following his suggestion that the Greatest Generation is a “myth” might want to allow four minutes to take in Beckel’s rant against the people at the “Communist Bastard Sympathizers” network, which aired a segment on “The Amazing Race” featuring contestants singing listening to and memorizing pro-communist songs at and racing to a downed American B-52 bomber in Hanoi, Vietnam.

What’s 100,000 percent of zero? OK, we’ll give credit where it’s due. Any comment, CBS?

Update:

We have a hashtag! Let’s see if #cbsapologize takes off.

Editor’s note: This post originally stated that show contestants sang pro-communist songs. In fact, they were asked to memorize the lyrics. Thanks to Twitter user Rachel for pointing out our error.

If any knows commies it is Bob Bechel. Some commie at CBS might have stiffed him with the bar tab at last workers party meeting.

  • KansasGirl

I’m sure CBS will get right on it. Schmucks!!

      Just a tad sarcastic, no?

      • KansasGirl

        A tad. 😉

    Post for a fellow Vet.

    Dear Bob,

I am a conservative but you have earned my unconditional respect and
appreciation for your comments about CBS.

I am a wheelchair bound, disabled Vietnam veteran with a slowly progressive
brain disease which is the result of my exposure to herbicides and pesticides
while serving as a dog handler in Vietnam.

I cannot find the words to describe how I, and my wife, feel when this type
of “stupidity” appears in the media. It is a knife cutting into my still
healing wounds from that war. I am certain, my brothers in arms feel the
    same.

Thank you Bob. Thank you and God bless you

          Somebody from CBS.

The same people that spit on us as we came home. The same people that called us baby killers, with no idea of the sacrifices we made to protect the children of the villages from Charlie. The same people that tell us that we wasted our blood and our youth fighting to ensure that a free people could remain free.

Perhaps not physically the same, but the same in spirit.

That’s cool. I loved it too; all the crap Yuuko put him through was hysterical. Also, I loved Tsubasa: RC, which I’m rereading right now. Really, anything CLAMP is good, but those two stories really hit it out of the park.

Thank you sir for your service and your wonderful post. I’d like to meet the downdingers in a dark alley for just five minutes.

      • afvet4america

The hate spewed at us the Vietnam Vets on Fox Nation has been nearly similar to when we came back to the States, and this the following was my post back to the Liberal Left that Hates us so much.

“What at this point difference does it make?” That 58,000 American youth
were slaughtered, tortured and killed in Vietnam. And several tens-of-thousands
more were maimed, sprayed with Agent Orange and some even abandoned in
        Vietnam.

Seriously though, we don’t want anything more from our Country, we that
served , served proudly for our Country. When we got back to the States it
mattered we were young and we didn’t hear about everything going on here,
likewise you sure didn’t hear about everything going on there. So, many of us
were caught by surprise when things were tossed at us and people spit towards
us. Anything said or done today doesn’t matter, we’ve had 30+ years of it. And
Time enough to see those that hate us mean very little.

Please proceed , any of you that want to show your hate.
Father forgive them, For they know not what they do. Amen

  • afvet4america

We the Vietnam Vets did not let our Country Down, But our Country darn sure Let us Down. I forgive all those people that threw things and spit in my direction, I’m still working on forgiving Hanoi Jane and John Kerry.

  • AZWarrior

Bob is exactly right on this one. As a Vietnam vet, that little episode on CBS was nothing short of a sneering laughing dance on a war grave.

  • SpinMeNot

Ok, the third sign of the impending Zombie Apocalypse … I have to say “thank you” to Bob Beckel.

    • GaryTheBrave

      What were the first two?

As I recall, a job being created in Detroit ( a plane pulling a “don’t drop the soap Kwame” banner in detroit) and Hostess selling the rights to Twinkies. Since we all know that there were no Twinkies to be found after the Zombie Apocalypse (Zonbieland), it has to happen before they get back on the shelves.

    • mdtljt

I agree, Spin…and if he’d said something I agreed with on ANY other topic it would stick in my craw like a fishbone…but on this I have no reservations at all giving him a big ol’ Way To Go, Bob!!! Hell, I’d even give him a hug!!!

  • RightThinking1

Ah, for the days when men were men. Here is an excerpt from Mickey Spillane’s novel “One Lonely Night”, Mike Hammer says:

“I killed more people tonight than I have fingers on my hand. I shot them in cold blood and enjoyed every minute of it. I pumped slugs in the nastiest bunch of bastards you ever saw and here I am calmer than I’ve ever been, and happy too. They were Communists, Lee. They were red sons-of-bitches who should have died long ago…”

Once upon a time, that was popular literature..

  • rachooo

That episode made me very uncomfortable, but I have to correct Twitchy on this one. The contestants were not asked to sing the song. They were told to watch a performance of the song by brainwashed youth. They then had to memorize a text in Vietnamese. They did not even get a translation of the song as far as this viewer could tell. So while I thought the ep was creepy, I don’t think it was necessarily promoting communism.

    • luckycat76

So? The participants had to match the words to very obvious propaganda posters; even worse, millions of viewers saw translated captions of the lyrics, which were a paean to Communism and socialism.
The downed B-52 was deemed a “memorial” when it was nothing more than a celebration of the deaths or capture of the American bomber crew.
It that’s not promoting communism, what the hell is?

      • rachooo

Maybe you don’t care about accuracy, but I do. In reality they had to memorize some Vietnamese characters that they didn’t understand. They didn’t sing the flippin’ song. That’s an important distiction whether you believe it or not. The post almost implies that the contestants were asked to pledge allegiance to Vietnam.

If you watch the show they do challenges that highlight life in that country. In Vietnam, they’re under the thumb of a government and taught to worship it. I think the show was merely highlighting that.

As far as the B-52 crash site goes, you need to read my other comment. I already posted that it was completely unacceptable.

        • luckycat76

I did miss your comment about the B-52; for that I do apologize.
However, you missed my point about the millions of viewers who saw the lyrics captioned in English on the screen. Communist propaganda? Damned straight it’s commie propaganda!

On the video clip I also saw a bunch of young adults — obviously ignorant of history — swaying and clapping to a tune featuring the waving of red flags below a picture I recognized as Ho Chi Minh. This goes beyond a cultural “let me sing you the song of my people” as the meme goes.

I don’t know your age, but I was a teenager during the Vietnam war. I knew a classmate whose older brother was one of the first killed in ‘Nam from my small town. I remember the hate of the military, the protests, Khe Sanh, the Tet Offensive. For me, CBS broadcasting this propaganda — yes, I said it! propaganda! — is a smack in the face to those who served and endured.

  • rachooo

One thing that was completely infuriating though, they called the B-52 crash site a Vietnam “memorial”. It’s very obvious that it’s not a memorial to the Vietnamese communists, but a victory monument.

    • kate_middleton

Exactly. This part bothers me more than the Commie propaganda.

    • Garth Haycock

I wonder if Hanoi Jane shot down that B52.

  • JCRocks

I wasn’t a Beckel fan until now. I used to be a huge Amazing Race fan…until now. This crazy nonsense and liberal crap cannot be tolerated any longer. Not from local media and especially not from national media. Give ’em hell every day, Bob.

Bob Beckel , your stock just went up in my book !

  • Caroline

Jane Fonda is a fan of the Amazing Race, obviously

  • SameJerkDifferentName

I disagree with Bob nearly all the time and find him insufferable most of the time, HOWEVER, I, as a Naval Aircrewman Vet from a later time, do hereby Stand With Beckel, (on this subject).

He doesn’t get it Right very often, but when he does, it’s worth noting!

  • camnpat

So, we have an administration that has refused to come clean with answers to Benghazi and Fast and Furious, Representatives in State legislatures openly implying that if a dictatorship was possible they would use it to ban guns, a mayor in MYC thinking he is king, major networks like CNN and NBC caught selectively editing stories to get their political points across as “news”, … But Bobo Beckel is outraged at an entertainment show where contestants travel around the world and experience something related to their traditions and/ or to their history? Sorry boys and girls, but the Vietnam war happened. Just trying to swipe it under the rug and ignore the fact that a) at one point there was communism in that country, b) they tried every which way the tactics of other communist countries to forcibly indoctrinate young people, and c) we were involved in a war were American soldiers died, won’t change history. The episode hardly was promoting communism.

The Amazing Race has been in the air for 12 years, they haven’t had an issue until this, and they already have been to Vietnam on several seasons. Yet everyone is willing to jump behind the guy who has appeared in this same website making some of the most improper comments about a range of topics from rape to whether the greatest generation was really that, … all because of what passes as a feign patriotic concern on his part? We cannot react just emotionally (like Liberals do most issues) when we hear certain things involved, such as our military. Logic and reason must remain present at all times.

I thank all of those who currently serve in the military and all of those, with us or not, who served in past wars. However this is Bob Beckel doing too much ado about nothing; a rant in search of an excuse.

Watch the episode before reacting to a tweet from Bob Beckel like he said anything. enlightened.

    • SpinMeNot

You make a number of very valid points, however “much ado about nothing” is not one of them.

If the passage had been a Bible verse that they had been asked/forced to read, the outrage from the left would be palpable.

      • camnpat

You are right- Piers Morgan would be having shows about “the influence of religion”, the Freedom From Religion Foundation would have already forced CBS to issue an apology, Jerry Bruckheimer would have been pushed to re-edit all remaining shows for “questionable” content, and some participant would already be on the phone getting a lawyer to claim a lawsuit against a violation of his first amendment or something.

What I am not sure is what exactly are you saying- that we should just randomly pick up outrage against any issue just to spite the left? If that’s the case, and I am understanding your point correctly, then for what purpose? How would that help when it comes time to be outraged and actually debate important issues? And while I am all for picking up a fight with the left in the battlefield of ideas and logic, in what way is The Amazing Race of any significance to achieve that?

Like I was telling 3seven77, it is a sad reflection of the shape of
the people in our country that have no education or even interest in
understanding the impact of historical events that shaped the nation.
Much less they can comprehend the magnitude of American losses and
sacrifices involved in said conflicts. It goes a long way in showing the
quality of people these participants (and likely voters) are, but hardly means the show is intent in promoting communism. Had any participant displayed a moment of reflection about the significant history behind these locations (as 3seven77 reminded me happened in past seasons) we wouldn’t even be discussing this now.

And Beckel.could have brought a discussion about all of this. He could have discussed how and why the participants were so oblivious about where they were, or even bring up your idea and make the case of the ridiculousness of outrage at times. He just chose to be “outraged” and appeal to an emotional reaction, hence what I said about much ado about nothing.

        • SpinMeNot

For those of us in our twilight years, that spent time in Vietnam, or Korea, or any number of other places — the outrage is anything but random.

    • http://www.dryedmangoez.com/ DryedMangoez.com

“The Amazing Race has been in the air for 12 years, they haven’t had an
issue until this, and they already have been to Vietnam on several
seasons.”That is my feeling. Season 3 of The Amazing Race specifically featured a Vietnam War vet returning to the country for the first time and appreciating the welcoming people and how they’ve been able to move forward, away from their horrible past.

    • 3seven77

The Race has gone to Vietnam before and one of the “stops” was the building where John McCain was held and tortured as a POW. Only two of the contestants in that instance even bothered to take a minute to reflect *and pray* (they were both Christians) about what they were seeing.

In this case at the B-52 site, not a single contestant even bothered to stop and look at the plane wreckage, let alone take a moment to contemplate its meaning. American servicemen died there. And these folks couldn’t have cared less. Very, very sad.

      • camnpat

I agree with you. It is a sad reflection of the shape of the people in the country that have no education or even interest in understanding the impact of historical events that shaped the nation. Much less they can comprehend the magnitude of American losses and sacrifices involved in said conflicts. It goes a long way in showing the quality of people these participants are, but hardly means the show is intent in promoting communism.

As for the show, we can make a case that the same age people that were participating and had no understanding about where they stood during that Road Block are the people producing the show that maybe left one or two comments or prayers from the older participants (if any) on the cutting room floor in favor of a shot of a team running around or bitching at each other.

It is sad. It is very sad.

      • camnpat

Bob Beckel is still a low life liberal skunk.
Patriotism is the last refuge of a scumbag

  • Chase C.

I have always thought Bob Beckel was a good guy. Sure he has different political views than I do and sure he rambles sometimes and says things he probably doesn’t believe. His co-hosts on The Five clearly have respect for him. Remember the Liberals are the ones not tolerant of views that aren’t their own, not the Conservatives.

  • Chase C.

Huge thanks to all of our Military that have commented. Nobody I respect more than a man or a woman that has or is serving our country in the Military.

Bob Beckel can go to hell with his buddies at Clueless Broadcasting Slims.

  • CommieJuice

This is pathetic! He says ONE thing that is right for maybe the third time in his pathetic career and he gets unconditional praise for it like he is a genuine hero?

BOB VOTES EVERY ELECTION FOR COMMUNIST POLICIES! He supports American communist in the DNC by using his limited celebrity and the money he gets for being the liberal pothole on Fox News, but he is a hero now? People, please get your head out of the sand and keep your eye on the ball! A broken clock is right twice a day which is 7300 times more accurate than Bob every decade. Where is the praise and the threads for the broken clock?

    • BlueStateRepub

It’s not the first time. Beckel has also vigorously defended attacks against Christianity and Catholicism, many times, including on The Five. When he does so, he takes on his own Liberal side and gets viciously attacked for it from the Left.

Beckel may not get MUCH right, but this is not the first time.

  • kateorjane

The CBS personnel seem to be an example of people who either a) think nothing that happened before they were born is significant or b) were Jane Fonda travelers.

  • BlueStateRepub

For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am proud of Bob Beckel.

    • http://www.vatican.va/ Rulz

I bet that’s more than you can say for democrat politicians…..

  • dunst43

What most disturbed me about that segment was that as the teams were standing beside the downed B52 there was no acknowledgement of what they were seeing. They either didn’t know or didn’t care that American airmen died in that plane or were captured and tortured. Maybe CBS edited out the reactions. I would love to see the uncut version.

  • ldwaddell

I respect this and only this comment from Beckel, he is still a pig and should be fired from fox for all his racist, sexist and anti-conservative comments.

    • BlueStateRepub

Conservatives don’t “fire people” for not being conservative. That’s the modus operandi of the Left.

      • Frustrated Teacher

No offense, but it looks like Bob is having an epiphany of sorts.

I already knew the media was against the US. My Uncle fought in Vietnam.

Also, were you aware that during the Gulf War two CNN reporters were asked to be debriefed, and they refused saying they couldn’t “take sides”.

Remember, this was a war that had massive international support and followed the UN Charter on status quo ente (though it may have still prevented).

The point is that left-wing media is not on the side of America or freedom.

Think they’d let W get away with drone fly-bys?

    Dear Mr. Beckel:

Thank you for pointing out the blatant disrespect displayed by CBS and the producers of “The Amazing Race” concerning their use of a downed B-52 as a prop. My wife and I were equally outraged both at the use of the aircraft and the pro-communist song. My wife noticed an aspect to this segment which made it only more repugnant, as the Ho Chi Minh singers sang their propaganda song CBS found it necessary to supply subtitles to seemingly rub our noses in it.

Personally, I’m surprised that CBS didn’t use the anti-aircraft
gun made famous by Jane Fonda as a prop.

For years I’ve jokingly referred to CBS as the Communist
Broadcast System, I guess that’s no longer a joke.

    Cordially,

    Peter E. Timm
