NRA Sets 1,000 Killed In School Shooting As Amount It Would Take For Them To Reconsider Much Of Anything ... tmi.me/OEEzp

We’re not going to assume that Rainn Wilson’s views on guns and gun control would change if we pointed out that the NRA’s “dead kids threshold” exposed in his tweet originated at parody site The Onion. He must know it’s a parody, right? If so, he’s not saying, and at least a few followers were outraged by this shocking “fact.”
@rainnwilson wow, just wow. I don't know what else to say. One THOUSAND precious lives need to be wasted first?? … tmi.me/OEMX1—

@rainnwilson Wow. Guess 900 is just fine.—

@rainnwilson Hard to finish reading it. Makes me so angry that people can be so stupid and ignorant. Makes me grateful to be Canadian.—

What difference, at this point, does it make that it’s a parody? It makes a lot of difference, actually.
@rainnwilson you know that was an Onion article? May want to make that clear.—

@rainnwilson That article is on The Onion and your tweet doesn't say that. And the link doesn't go there. Seems manipulative/misinformed—
Ryan Theiss (@RTyce) March 20, 2013
Speaking of manipulative, Michael Moore, to his credit, did cite The Onion in his tweet, although that still leaves it up to the reader to figure out that the whole premise is fake.
Harry Reid may not have a number of how many dead kids it'll take before he acts, but The Onion says the NRA has one: theonion.com/articles/nra-s…—
Michael Moore (@MMFlint) March 20, 2013
Hey @MMFlint, 333,964 kids were killed by Planned Parenthood in 2012. How many more have to die before action is taken?—

His tweet preceded The Onion’s post by a day, but Albert Brooks too seems to think there’s some threshold on constitutional rights triggered by criminals.
I shudder to think of the carnage that needs to happen to even vote on an assault weapons ban.—
Albert Brooks (@AlbertBrooks) March 20, 2013
We shudder to think of the carnage it took to found a free country with constitutional protections for its citizens’ rights.
It's sick. “@AlbertBrooks: I shudder to think of the carnage that needs to happen to even vote on an assault weapons ban.”—

@Laurie_David @AlbertBrooks Sick to rely on carnage for political ends.—
