Comedian Norm Macdonald attacked by atheists, deletes tweets

Sadly, it does appear that comedian Norm Macdonald deleted his tweets. As Twitchy reported, Mr. Macdonald tweeted last night about religion, tolerance, and respect for people of faith. He was attacked by atheists, natch.

It is a shame that he deleted the tweets. Sane Twitter users were encouraging and offered him support.

You can still read his tweets here at Twitchy.

Stand strong, Mr. Macdonald!

Norm doesn’t need that stuff. He isn’t a politics guy. 90% of his tweets are about sports, mostly golf. It’s just a damn headache he doesn’t need. Now I’m gonna go watch Dirty Work.

True, and I like Norm, but he is a bit… um… unstable sometimes. I’m not entirely convinced that his tweets were sincere in the first place. Not that I care because frankly, I mostly don’t care what entertainers have to say outside their medium of entertainment.

Jesus died on The Cross but Normo couldn’t take some zeros & ones thrown at him by a bunch of twerps! Wussy!

    • AaronHarrisinAlaska

Wrong attitude to have for some one who claims to the work of Christ.

  • Hep

Oh, great; now the atheists are going to think they “won”.

  • 24fan

He needs to read if men persecute you and say all kinds of evil for His sake to rejoice and be glad for his reward would be great in Heaven. No condemnation Norm that’s not what believers are supposed to behave.

I love Norm MacDonald. Always have. I still remember back in the mid-2000’s he was on some asinine daytime talk show (may have been the View) and they tried to get him to dump on Bush. He took their bait and spit it right back into their faces by saying “Well he’s better than the last President we had. Clinton killed a guy.” Norm was being facetious but the hosts were absolutely horrified.

I’m not a religious individual but I deeply respect the ability of most religions to make mankind better than he would be otherwise. It amuses me when atheists obviously ignorant of history like to trot out that tired pablum “Religion is responsible for more deaths than anything.” We could total up all the murders committed in the name of religion throughout history, the Salem Witch Trials and the Crusades and the Inquisition and the Moorish invasion of Europe etc., and it still wouldn’t approach the number murdered by Mao. In fact, if one were to write a precis of the 20th century it would be one of atheistic, big government, mass murder.

Politics and racism have killed far more people than religion ever could. I get into that argument a lot with parts of my family.

The crusades were a campaign to RE-TAKE lands taken by force by Islam. Please don’t lump the crusades in with purely religious killing. It wasn’t wrong for France to re-take its country from Nazi Germany, it wasn’t wrong for Christendom to try to re-take its land from Islam. My only issue with the crusades? They FAILED…

    • 3seven77

It wouldn’t approach the number killed by abortion either…

  • TocksNedlog

    Don’t backpedal now, Norm — you’re trending!

    • cajun_2

Tell Norm, 78% of the american people identify with you Norm..DONT be afraid of those who think THEY are the almighty power on earth simply because they know how to twitter.

as a conservative and an atheist….I really hate it when so called atheists act like this. I take the approach of ” i dont believe it, but dont mind if you do” . Because the minute you start telling people what they can and cant believe in, your “rhetoric” becomes dogma and BOOM you are a religion.

    • Googie Bergdorff

True. Though I consider myself an agnostic for that reason.

As a libertarian atheist, I agree.

One of the tenets of my faith is as follows “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God and allow all men the same privilege. Let them worship how, where or what they may.” You restated this beautifully in your above comment. Glad to have on the conservative, freedom-loving team.

Similarity #152 Infidels and apostates will be attacked without mercy. Oh wait, that is Islam and Leftism, my bad.

  • andycanuck

I don’t know if it’s true or not as I don’t use Twitter but an Ace commenter said that Macdonald often deletes his Tweets.

  • JettieG

I just read an article that atheist in chief Dawkins was soundly beaten in a debate on religion by a priest. Anyhoo, Pope Francis investiture.Apparently, nobody is invited but all are welcome. Any bets on Biden getting booted from communion?

    • $18912735

      Physically beaten? Interesting…

    • Heather Demeny

Dawkins could never stand as tall as Hitch did.

As an atheist myself, I must admit some atheists can be more than a little intolerant. That said, it is somewhat dubious of many people of faith to act as if they themselves have not been intolerant of others who don’t think as they do.

Bottom line, what you believe is yours and yours alone; but, when you try to enforce or create laws based solely on your belief, or non-belief, it becomes a problem. Push back occurs on all sides…..from all sides.

  • lillymckim

The atheists who attacked Norm Macdonald are shameful and it’s very evident their hate is their creed their religion. They are to be pitied.

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

Do you believe the same should be said of People of Faith who attack atheists for not believing?

Just asking the question that needs to be asked.

      • lillymckim

Yes, attacks are useless but Norm is the person being attacked here.
But I only speak for myself and I personally don’t care what someone chooses to believe or chooses not to believe.
I believe atheists have made their Atheism a form of a religion as in a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.

      • NCRelite

“People of Faith who attack atheists for not believing” just lol

  • DavidM

Just remember people, atheists know everything that can be known and you will admit it or else….

  • sorrowen

I don’t know whenever i hear someone say they are a “atheist”. I think do they want a pat on the back or something?? Of course I think the idea of being religious and believing in God are to seperate things. which is why I am not “atheist” plus you move the A a space and it’s a theist….

  • Guest

I was once atheist and I never begrudged those that believed. These folks aren’t winning anyone over with their anger.

I rediscovered God because I saw what a positive force Christianity is in society, not because of superstition or the promise of paradise in the afterlife.
