‘God never tires of forgiving’: Massive crowd in St. Peter’s Square; Pope Francis wades into crowd [photos]

No, it wasn’t just another Sunday. Pope Francis I gave his first Angelus today as pope. Thousands gathered in St. Peter’s Square.

Earlier this morning, after mass at St. Anna’s church, Pope Francis I ducked into the crowd.

Amazing. While the morally bankrupt are spewing vicious hatred, Pope Francis I is showing his humility and his love for humankind.

More photos of the massive crowd, assembled for the pope’s first Angelus. Estimates have the crowd at 150,000.

And some beautiful and wise words from Pope Francis I today.

That nun looks thrilled beyond imagining. Isn’t it fine that the folks get to greet him and not just the famous. Ihope it’s safe for him to do this..it’s a lovely thing.

Hee.. I went to the Vespers at San Giovanni and saw JP II when I was 15, almost 16. I nearly got run over by JP II’s nun groupies. 4’11 little old ladies will shove you over to get a better view of the Pope.. Gosh darn.

Please remember that “The Popemobile” was made after JPII was shot in a crowd. A woman ran up the aisle of St. Peter’s Basilica to stab B16. Some people love the Pope. Some hate him enough to kill him.
