Uh-oh: Newt Gingrich now giving Donald Trump PR advice

Remember two days ago, when Sens. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and others took over the Senate floor to argue the authority of the Constitution and demand accountability from the White House? Seems longer ago than that, doesn’t it? Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) took the floor Thursday to declare that playtime was over, the adults were in charge again, and Paul’s display was unhelpful and “did a disservice to a lot of Americans.”

It’s only Friday, but we’re back to business as usual for the GOP. Newt Gingrich is giving CPAC speaker Donald Trump spending and PR advice. What could go wrong?

President Obama already owns the terrible “optics” of a shuttered White House without Trump getting involved and offering a new target for criticism. Let’s do the smart thing just this once and see what happens.

Newt giving PR advice is a bit like Slick Willy offering advice on marital fidelity …

    just saying ….

I’m surprise Newt didn’t ask Trump to fund a moon colony. Trump is a scam, he needs to stick to the scripted “reality” shows and stay out of politics.

Trump is a monomaniacal man who makes everything about himself, first and foremost.

Trump is obviously a very smart man! He’s been on top, and down on the bottom, then back on top again. He’s doing something right. It’s called hard work, and strategic planning.

Trump employs tens of thousands of people in his various businesses and construction operations. If I were him I would remind people of this fact constantly. Not very long ago he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, perhaps more, of his own money to complete a skating rink in NYC that the “gooberment” had failed to complete for many years because they were locked up in red tape.

      • SpinMeNot

There is something about Mr. Trump that irritates me a bit, not sure what it is. His has historically been quite generous with his money, and for that, he gets my respect.

  • Maxx

Here’s my only problem with that suggestion Newt. Earlier this morning, I wrote it would be wonderful if Mitt chimed in with a donation and that was well received by the Twitchy contingent. I suspect because we all know how generous Mitt has been in the past with both his time and personal wealth and he historically, does so with almost zero fanfare or headlines.

Unfortunately, If Trump does it, it will be more about Trump than anyone or anything else.

Better idea, Trump announce he will pay for WH tours with the 5 Million Bill Maher owes him.

This is why the RINOs got to go, they are out of touch with what we want. We don’t want PR stunts, we want people like Rand Paul doing their job and passionately defending their constituents and the Constitution while doing so. People like Newt speak loud about conservatism in public but cozy up to progressives and vote with them while on the job, we don’t need that anymore.

Newt is not now, nor has he ever been, a RINO.

Generally, most Republicans endeavor to be wise stewards of public monies. Given that Gingrich supports Cap and Trade, support of single payer health care, and his critique of Ryan’s Medicare reform it is quite difficult to portray him as a fan of small government.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1263585005 Susang Oilranger

Gingrich does NOT support Cap & Trade, nor a single payer HC plan, and the “critique” he offered was in general in regards to social engineering by any party or side of the aisle.
You would do well to educate yourself in regards to the man, before you show yourself to be ignorant by parrotting the Manhatten Media rants of fools.

He has supported a lot of progressive policies like Jillane listed above, he talks the talk but doesn’t always walk the walk.

  • Garth Haycock

I understand what Gingrich is saying, but Newt should pay for the White House tours with his own money rather than telling Trump what to do with Trump’s money.

    • cinde

Newt isn’t advising Trump to pay..it’s not a suggestion..he merely asked a question of what excuse Obama would make and made a point that Trump doesn’t use taxpayer monies to golf with..get over yourselves. Two Republicans including Hannity already offered money for the tours..Newt’s comment is about Obama NOT Trump!

So when did Mitt, Annie and Newt and Calista reimburse the feds for the secret service protection they rec’d during the campaign at all the homes they owned? If they did not (and u know it didn’t even cross their mind), then why would u blame the president for security costs when he goes anywhere? Air Force One is part of the deal. Neither you nor any other con would have said a thing if bush closed the white house — indeed u would have congratulated him for his “leadership” — plus u would have complained if the capitol remained open and the dems controlled the house.
I love it when the clowns in your party take exception to everything the president does in such a foolish and condescending manner. This is why u lost the election by a landslide.

Now u r using your token Latino to push through immigration reform because u got killed by the president by these voters. Oh, yeah, they loved Obamacare, so what does Ryan submit in his budget — THE REPEAL OF OBAMACARE. Where do u get these people?
Keep it up while our president keeps us safe and moves on without u cons.

I made this recommendation before Newt! https://twitter.com/SonsofReagan/status/309748217644470273

  • TeaPartyBarbie

Really? Isn’t this the same Donald Trump that Malkin called out during the campaign? Now she is defending Trump over Newt? Excuse me?

    • TeaPartyBarbie

I think she called Trump a “Thin Skinned Conservative Fraud?”

  • consneverwork

Obama not punishing kids — cons won’t work with him — gee, that’s a shocker. Also, that’s one of the perks u get when people like Newt question your citizenship and all the haters want to kill the president! Thanks haters for costing us a fortune.

Shouldn’t Trump & Gingrich first make good on the promise they made to the kids last year? http://corporatemal.com/2013/03/13/trump-gingrich-apprentice-promise/
