Steve Martin’s ‘where are they now’ photo will make you feel old

We’ll leave it to you to identify the gentlemen in this snapshot posted today by Steve Martin. If you can’t, ask your mom or dad (or maybe your grandparents). We don’t know how the “Bosom Buddies” guy got in there.

  • greywulf1064

    They made me laugh when I was younger, their politics make me just shake my head now that I’m older.

  • Lara (LAIR-A)

    Yup, I’m old. Thanks Twitchy. LOL

  • FreedomFighter

    Is that Tom Hanks (Bosom Buddies) in the background???

  • YOLO

    Back row: Dan Aykroyd, SM, Martin Short, Tom Hanks. Front row: Chevy Chase, Paul Simon and Lorne Michaels. I think.

    • mdtljt

      That’sPaul Simon?? Yikes…he looks like Madam…that god-awful puppet Waylon Flowers used to haul around…lib/progs take note…THAT is what Dim intolerance will do to you…ick

    • aztectrumpet

      That’s Tom Hanks? He’s not looking good.

      • Jillane Kent

        Wilson, after bobbing in the ocean since Cast Away, likely has aged more gracefully……and is more intelligent and adds more to the political discourse.

    • Neil Leininger

      Sure that isn’t Bill Murray in the back row, would make more sense considering he’s a SNL alum while Hanks is not. In fact, does Hanks have any ties to any of those guys, I don’t think so.

      • DreadPirateStarbucks

        Tom Hanks hosted SNL a whole bunch of times, it was a running gag in his monologues. He got a smoking jacket and everything. Of course, that was back in the good old days, before he started spewing molten liberal crazy all over the place….***sigh***

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      No Bill Murray either! Jawamax 8<{D}

      • mdtljt

        No love lost between Bill Murray & Chevy Chase…

  • nc

    I don’t need no stinkin’ photo. I got my mirror.

  • Spatial Awareness

    453 years “collective” years….. O.O

  • $27334126

    Marty Short is the best dancer of them all.

    • $36544368

      “I really must say…”….LOL!

  • Lisa Dean

    Fabulous comedy but not so fabulous politics. PS My son now enjoys Martin Short as the voice of Cat in the hat.

    • Scott Anderson

      Jiminy Glick and Ed Grimley are treasures.

  • Scott Anderson

    My wife is young enough that she wouldn’t recognize any of these people except for maybe Tom hanks.

    • Dandy1

      bragging or complaining?

      • Scott Anderson

        Yeah. Modest brag. But it would be nice sometimes if we had the same pop culture background. To her, “Cheers” is that show that I told her had Frasier in it, but it’s not about Frasier.

  • cgraham77

    As a kid, watching movies like The Jerk (still one if the best movies ever!), I always had a HUGE crush on Steve Martin (I was always a bit odd in the types of crushes I developed. Something about his premature white hair…i just loved it!) 😛

    Funny thing is…I wound up marrying someone who resembles him! Ha!

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      BTW He was once Married to Burnadette Peters, who is my eighth Cousin (twice removed) on my Maternal Grandfather’s side of the Family.. TRUE STORY! Jawamax 8<{D}

  • JerseyFresh12

    Wow — Paul Simon looks like the old guy who sits on his stoop and tells stories about the good ol’ days. Too bad I learned about the wacky political views of these guys as I got older. Makes me view them in a far different light now than when I was younger.

  • Jimni27

    If you’ll be my bodyguard
    I can be your long lost pal
    I can call you Betty
    And Betty when you call me
    You can call me Aaaaaallllllllllllll

    Thanks a lot Twitchy- it’ll be a few days before THAT gets out of my head 😉

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      Na-na-na-na-na-na… #CaddyShack Kojak John Wayne Bang bang? #FoulPlay XD LOL Jawamax 8<{D}

  • GaryTheBrave

    Where’s John Belushi or Gilda Radnor? Oh, never mind!

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      Also not pictured:Lorraine Newman, Jane Curtain, Garrett Morris, Eddie Murphy…In other words, all WHITE MALES! Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Greg Toombs

    Paul Simon looks like a smaller version of The Joker.

  • John (it true me am)

    No one should feel old for knowing the works of these men, or at least I don’t think you should considering I do at 30. With the possible exception of Simon due to the natural generational progression of music, anyone not aware of them has stupidity not youth to blame, as all are still quite active and known. Though I do find it amusing that despite being mostly a behind the scenes guy that Lorne is probably the most recognizable to most people sub 20 due to showing up in a lot of the Lonely Island digital shorts.

    Also for the person who wondered about Hanks being in an SNL heavy photo, he has always been an SNL regular, no different than Martin. Remember, Martin was never actually a cast member either. Simon is in that group as well as the record holder for musical guest appearances I think(and several time host).

    Random SNL Trivia: Alec Baldwin holds the record for hosting, ahead of Steven Martin by 1.( I think Baldwin is just ahead in overall appearances as well, but not positive.)

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      And to think, it started with that Turkey costume.. Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Jack Deth

    A group shot of “The One Trick Ponies”.

    Steve Martin has always been a better comedy writer than a comedian. And a better banjo player than either. Should have stayed with dramatic roles after his surprising turn in Mamet’s ‘The Spanish Prisoner’.

    Chevy Chase: Far more ego than talent.

    Paul Simon is still one of the best lyricists around. So-so musician.

    Dan Aykroyd: Great delivery. Lousy choices in projects Post SNL.

    Martin Short: A flash in the pan for ‘Second City TV’. His fifteen minutes were over long ago.

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      Then I guess Steve Martin Calls #JimmyBuffett, Clumsy jokes, and good music from the good old days is no longer Chic.. That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it! Jawamax 8<{D}

  • KansasGirl

    Wow, doesn’t Lorne Michaels look like an older Kevin James?

  • Maxx

    Cast pic from new monster movie about old age:

    “Creatures from the White Cocoon.”

  • edward cropper

    Jonathon Winters could make one
    face and blow this whole gang of no talent creeps out the

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    I only recognize Steve, Chevy Chase, and Dan Ackroyd…All SNL/SCTV Alums? XD Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Dave

    I recognize Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd. The rest are a complete mystery to me and I’m probably as old as they are.

  • TexLopaka

    The real question shouldn’t be “who,” but “what?” I see a storyboard flowchart of post-it notes, and a TV in the back… I’d be very curious to know if these guys were working on a project together. THAT would be a HOOT!

  • BlueStateRepub

    The Bosom Buddies guy got in there because he holds the record for most times hosting.
