‘SportsCenter’ airs Dennis Rodman interview praising Kim Jong Un; Sports fans baffled, disgusted

That’s right. SportsCenter helped Dennis Rodman continue his repugnant Kim Jong Un bromance tour last night.

SportsCenter played his interview with George Stephanopoulos on “This Week.”

Sports fans were baffled.

Baffled and rightly disgusted.

Wow. Well, according to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, the trip was a “diplomatic triumph.” And George Stephanopoulos proclaimed that he has “no hate for Rodman” and that he hopes Kim Jong Un “proves him right with deeds.”

Willing puppets? It’s not just Rodman, evidently.

I like Twitchy and generally dislike ESPN, but this is inaccurate. After seeing Jeff Emanuel’s tweet last night, I went to look for this segment. When I watched it, I saw ESPN anchor Steve Levy resoundingly criticizing Dennis Rodman for his behavior. There was not a single word of support. The station aired clips from Rodman’s interview on This Week, in which he praises the dictator, but that was immediately followed by criticism from ESPN’s Levy.

Just saw the clip and have to agree. Levy clearly shaking his head and criticizing the trip.

    • Cold War Grunt

All fine and good, but the topic should have never been broached. If Rodman tried to bring it up, he should have shut down.

EDIT: I realized I wasn’t being clear — and as far as I can figure out there is no reason to have Rodman on Sports Center at this point, other than the trip.

Same for the convo with Stepanopaulos — allowing him to go/putting the interviews on the air, just the begining of socializing the concepts. More to come, more to come.

  • CatHerder

Can we just let this story slide into the dustbin of history now?

    • https://twitter.com/tweetyuo Tangchung

I agree, today might be last day of it unless Rodman goes to Cambodia to put flowers on Pol Pot’s grave.

  • Maxx

Dennis needs to take a history class. The man is absolutely clueless as to why that visit has offended so many.

  • https://twitter.com/tweetyuo Tangchung

I never cared for him, egotistical self centered never playing by the rules and that Rodman guy is no better.

I assume you are referring to George Stephanopoulos

  • Miss Clairee

Awwww, come on you guys! Leave The Worm alone! Rodman is really a great, stand-up guy. Just saw his ex-wife on a reality TV show a few weeks ago having to sell some of his old jerseys to a pawn shop in order to pay for their daughter’s college tuition. What a great dad. Niiiiice!

  • Herman LaClair

it took an ill-advised trip to NK for folks to realize what a complete moron this man is?? c’mon.

    • GaryTheBrave

      Who? Rodman or Kim?

Yeah, but at least before he wasn’t brodawgs with a cruel dictator.

  • Steve_J

Olbermann wants to return to ESPN. Considerig how f****d up ESPN is once they stray from airing sporting events, I’m sure they will take him back. Besides ESPN’s politics dovetails nicely with Olbermann’s.

  • Bill Board

So what, one commie pig talking to another, that’s news? It happens every day in D.C.

  • dmosely

    Just another stupid moon cricket.

Didn’t see the interview, but is Rodman’s knowledge of the history of Communist dictators and their devastating effects upon the people really any less than anyone in Obama’s State Department?

  • TomJB

Rodman going to NK is just stupid. But as for the interview, from what I have heard, it was conducted before he left the “Workers’ Paradise” so I would take whatever he said with a grain of salt slightly smaller than Gibraltar. Had he said differently, we may have never heard from him again. Im interested in his comments after coming back to the US – though to be honest, being the moron he is, I don’t expect much in the way of truth.

    • TocksNedlog

You heard wrong. He was sitting right across the desk from Stephanopoulos in ABC’s studio.
This is what you get for listening to the Internet!

      • TomJB

Actually, I didn’t get the info off the Internet but thanks for the update. The original interview I heard was Thursday or Friday when he was leaving and it was definitely not a sit-down interview with Stephanopoulos. I don’t check up on much over the weekend. Though I was right about not expecting much in the way of a different message once back on US soil, knowing Rodman :)

        • TocksNedlog

The scary part is that these celebutards actually believe the dictators they visit see their people as something other than worker ants.
Sean Penn BELIEVES that Hugo Chavez loves his people. Michael Moore BELIEVES that Fidel & Raul Castro want the best for Cuba’s citizens. ALL they see is that the people are treated ‘equally’. It pretty much doesn’t matter that they’re all on the absolute lowest rung of the ladder; equality is all! It doesn’t matter that they only earn ten cents per day, because EVERYONE earns ten cents.

  • Jonny Red

Hey Dennis. If you love him so much why don’t you marry him?

    • GaryTheBrave

He still has the dress. (You KNOW who would be the bride at that wedding.)

  • JCRocks

ESPN is almost as leftist an organization as MSNBC. Too bad I have to watch their sports coverage to see my teams play.

  • Jack Deth

This is why I have never had an interest in or follow sports.

  • Garth Haycock

Karl Malone should have used one of his elbows to put Rodman out of our misery.

All the communists are coming out of the woodwork now…just watch the list grow.
