A Connecticut Democrat made a lewd comment to a high school senior at a recent legislative hearing. She was 17 years old.
The teen girl visited the Connecticut state Capitol to deliver a speech to a committee. She explained that working at the science center had helped her overcome her shyness and fear of snakes.

Connecticut State Rep. Ernest Hewett (D-epraved) replied, “If you’re bashful I got a snake sitting under my desk here.” Audio available at Political Wire.
Looking forward to reading the "context" within which "if you're bashful I got a snake sitting under my desk here" will inevitably be set.—

On Thursday, Rep. Hewett said, “In hindsight, I can really see how this can be misconstrued as something sexual.” Um, unless he did indeed have a python curled up under his desk, how else could it be construed?

Here's a pro-tip for elected folks of either party: No penis jokes to teenagers, even by broad innuendo. You're welcome.—
