Bob Woodward: ‘Very senior person’ at White House said you’ll ‘regret’ reporting on sequester [video]

What difference, at this point, does it make whose idea the sequester was? For a while, the White House was succeeding in its effort to pin the scheduled budget cuts on House Republicans, but the GOP fought back, with several legislators changing their Twitter avatars to a highlighted passage from Bob Woodward’s book, “The Price of Politics,” tracing the origin of the sequester to the White House.

The White House was “not happy” with that development, Woodward told Wolf Blitzer tonight, with a “very senior person” emailing that Woodward would “regret doing this.”

Remember, it took being shut out of the president’s golf match with Tiger Woods to give the press a clue that perhaps this wasn’t the most transparent administration ever.

  • Jimni27

Already seeing the tweets saying Woodward is irrelevant. He’ll show them how irrelevant he is.

    • catb55

I hope and pray he does .. is there a deep throat out there?

  • SpinMeNot

There is something hysterically funny about someone in BHO’s WH thinking that they can intimidate Bob Woodward, other than possibly the Marines that guard the place.

You’d think Mr. Woodward had published cartoons of Mohammed … just sayin …

  • Rylee N

If they have the nerve to threaten Bob Woodwood it makes you wonder how many lesser known reporters they have threatened…

    • Tangchung

When Woodward calls the White House for anything, only one person answers and takes calls from Woodward…….
That very Senior WH official is Valarie Jarrett.

      • ssenecal5000

Lanny Davis has come forward saying he was threatened
Liberal editor of the National Journal has come forward saying he has gottend threats and more from the Obama Admin ….Even vulgarity and nastiness so bad he had to insist the Obama official stop emailing him

        • Tangchung

They are starting speak up finally. I think many more will follow.

    • beebop1952

They retaliate all the time. They pull you from the favored group that gets access. You don’t get on the plane. You don’t see half of it. The White House dog is better treated than the media yet they run back with their tails wagging when he whistles.

    • journogal

Remember a few backs, Politco got huffy and did a not-so-nice piece. It’s happens frequently. As far as threats like this go…not sure. According to a piece at Breitbart, Lanny Davis was also threatened

  • nc

    Get mad, Bob, get mad!

    • Vennoye

No, just continue to be honest about the sewer running through this WH. How very right Michelle has been with her book title “The Culture of Corruption”.

    • Vennoye

No, just continue to be honest about the sewer running through this WH. How very right Michelle has been with her book title “The Culture of Corruption”.

  • V the K

Obama is keeping his pimp hand strong. (A very apt metaphor given the relationship between this President and the Press.)

  • mwill

the whitehouse just invited woodward to write a book about obama.

  • richard

The sequestration is a reflection of Obama’s inability to lead.

  • Scott Carroll

Oooooooh I bet Woodward’s typewriter is just quaking on his desk at the thought of what a community organizer from Hawaii who weighs a buck fifty can do to him.

    • Vennoye

Well, don’t forget Larry Bland and Donald Young…….

    • Vennoye

Well, don’t forget Larry Bland and Donald Young…….

  • DrSamHerman

My guess is Reggie Love called Woodward “a vicious bitch” and hit Bob with his purse.

  • goldwater89

Why won’t Woodward reveal who this ‘very senior person’ is? We deserve to know who this slimeball is. We’re paying that person’s salary.

    • grais

      Deep Throat II

    • Matthew Koch

      Great question Goldwater 89.

It’s probably Obama’s version of H.R. Haldeman. Think of a person in a similar role in Obama administration.

      • Tangchung

        Valarie Jarrett

        • Junie3

          Yes, has to be.
Jarrett, the Hun. The part that really stuck out to me was when I overheard the rep say that Jarrett told them, “After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay. Congress won’t be a problem for us this time. No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges ready to go.” She was talking directly to about three of them. Sr. staff. And she wasn’t trying to be quiet about it at all. And they were all listening and shaking their heads and smiling while she said it. Pretty creepy.

    • Penmar

Leverage, if he outs whoever it was he has no leverage.

  • DanStlMo

    I want names!

  • EverybodyTalks

“Regret it”… Iran or North Korea….Bob is trembling..haha!

  • SJ’s Dad

In his late 20’s he went after the Nixon Administration with the ferocity of a pit bull,
In his late 60’s he takes on the Obama Administration with that same fierceness!
That my friends is REAL journalistic integrity, TRUTH ABOVE PARTY!

    • nc

He hasn’t quite done it yet. We’re still pulling for him.

    • Blake Waymire

I’m not sure I’d call this truly “fierce”, but I certainly respect him for calling out the Obama admin. If he continues going after it, then I’ll call him “fierce”.

      • SJ’s Dad

        . . . if he continues going after it . . .
        . . . Think he won’t?!-)

  • Gallatin

Oh Gosh I just can’t help myself.

Things Bob Woodward should do when told by a “very senior person in the White House you’ll regret—–”

    1. Vomit
    2. Urinate himself.
    3. Use his network provided whistle.
    4. Swoon.
    5. Go to the pressroom “safe zone”.
    6. Cry.
    7. Laugh hysterically at the little putzes.
    8. “Buy a shotgun—go out on his patio—and fire a couple blasts into the air”

    9. Go to France and speak bad French to them.

    • journogal

Forgot number 10. say you are menstruating.

  • APW

I feel a small degree of relief that a truly objective investigative reporter–a true journalist–still exists in this country. I thought they had all perished.

  • $35072932

Wow, the Dear Liar going Nixonian.

    • $36544368

I’m smiling just thinking about it…

  • APW

Can you just picture BO going on camera to say, “I am not a crook.”

    • grais

“If the President does it, it’s not illegal.”

    • 3seven77

It would be nice to hear, “You won’t have me and my dog BO to kick around anymore.”

  • truebeliever101

In the end, it won’t matter. Obama will just say somebody in his cabinet made a “bone-headed move” and that he himself knew nothing about it.

    • PennyRobinsonFanClub

“When I learned about this incident, I was shocked.”

  • FrankLooper

A name needs to be shared, or it didn’t happen.

White House calling Tonya Harding right now giving the green light on the hit.

    • PennyRobinsonFanClub

      Pfft. Well done!

  • $23629333

Bob Woodward contributed significantly to the resignation of Richard Nixon, and lived to dine out on that fact. Will he similarly survive the ire of the Chicago clique?

  • Joe W.

Hey Mr. Woodward….Check your bed for a horse’s head before you climb in for the night….The “Don” does not like to hear bad news, ya’ know??

    • SpinMeNot

And his mail for dead fish …

      • PennyRobinsonFanClub

        It’s an old Indonesian message….

  • Jack Deth

My money is on Chuck Todd by way of Valerie Jarrett.

  • Guest

Woodward has been threatened by a corrupt and thuggish White House before,
    during the Nixon administration.
Perhaps events will unfold in the same way, THAT would be fun.

  • Joe W.

40 years ago, Woodward & Bernstein broke the Watergate Story and brought down the President of the United States. I hope and pray that history will, indeed, repeat itself and Mr. Woodward can go two for two on his presidential take-downs. This is the only hope left for us to safe our once great nation from the ravages of Bronco Bamma, the Muslim from Kenya….

    • Ben Bollman

But the difference is that they believe in the same things politically that Obama does. If you notice in that interview even Woodward excuses Obama by basically saying Obama had nothing to do with the threat even though the person who did works for Obama. Bush wouldn’t have gotten the same consideration. I will say though that Woodward seems to be one of the few even willing to question the administration although how far he is willing to go is too early to tell.

      • grais

All The President’s Men And Women
        a Benghazigate expose’
(It’s just a dream of mine)

      • Joe W.

I believe that Woodward’s ego is greater than his loyalty to Barky. I think that Barky is biting off a bit more than he can chew. This guy isn’t a tender dog like they have in Indonesia.

        • Ben Bollman

Yeah, but the rest of the media will bury Woodward before they touch Obama. He won’t have the press cheering him on this time.

    • peteee363

i saw a story on them from 40 years ago. did you know they were given an illegal break? the address book they got a look at was supposed to be held as property of the jailed person. they were never supposed to look at it, but someone did. had the police not broken the law, woodward would not have had the scoop he did. let’s hope someone does the same thing against obama!

      • Joe W.

I was 24 years old when it all went down, and believe me, Woodward & Bernstein did plenty that was not according to the law!!!…

  • Puyallup44

Panic at the White House. Journalism may be breaking out in Washington.

    • SpinMeNot

This is an isolated incident that will be easily controlled. The left is already demonizing him, and right up until he spoke the truth, he was a “Hero of the Amerikan Union”. Mr. Woodward is simply the next body thrown under the bus. When the other main stream media darlings of the liberal-progressive elite see Mr. Woodward’s mangle corpse laying in the gutter, they will get in line fast enough.

Mr. Woodward actually says in the interview that it isn’t the POTUS but rather a POTUS flunky. If the press won’t cover Benghazi, the best we can hope for in this case is another resignation that isn’t really a resignation.

  • Al_the_Fish

Bob Woodward will likely be offered, by the WH, an exclusive insider story on drone strikes against al-Queda, and by insider, I mean stuck inside a drone on a mission. Give that story a pass Bob, and keep hammering on the sequester crisis created by Obama.

  • Maxx

Don’t worry Bob, if you need protection from bad people, you can always just urinate on yourself.

  • Paul D Garber

Bob Woodward is a little too kind with his comments on this tactic as it is normal for this Administration: Chicago Tactics down & dirty.

  • grais

jim geraghty is right. Whoever writes the hit pieces Will be outing themselves as major Obama puppets.
    This is pretty outrageous.

  • peteee363

i think the whitehouse will be sorry they got caught in a jackbooted threat. i am no woodward fan, but he is making up quickly for years of poor judgement.

  • Lorraine George

    Tisk tisk
Did anyone ever really think that Obama and his minions were anything less than treacherous? The American public has been trying to sound the alarm for 4 years and now that this has come out against Woodward and the adm lets the criminals out to cause a crisis you are all finally sitting up and taking notice….Shock and disbelief-Hush my mouth!

  • RightThinking1

    It’s The Chicago Way.

Obama’s Enemy List is growing. I suppose he will have to divert resources from the Ben Carson team to Woodward. I wonder if Juan Williams will eventually make the list?

    • SpinMeNot

At what point does his “enemy list” get transferred to his drone list?

      • RightThinking1

His list of drones already numbers in the millions, oh, wait…, you mean the ‘Hit Drones’

  • SpinMeNot

U.S.C Title 18, section 875 — I saw a post on another site referencing this with regard to Alderman Marston in NYC with regard to a rather poorly worded response to a letter he had received.

Oh wait, nvm … Eric Holder … sorry, my bad.

  • RightThinking1

    ‘The Activist’

    A play in one act

Scene: 3:00 a.m., dark outside, dark inside, except for a pool of light from a desk lamp. All that is visible is someones crossed feet, propped on the desk. The just-visible trousers have really sharp creases.

Out of the dark comes a voice: “I wonder how she arranged that Vince Foster thing…?”

    Fade to dark.

    • nc

      “Sharp creases” – good one!

The WH threats always come from someone in staff, never Obama. It’ called “plausible deniability “. He didn’t say that. Another one under the bus.

…and they’re now attacking one of the most enthusiastic and loyal Democrats I’ve ever met…while I don’t agree with his politics I personally know Lanny Davis to be a passionate advocate for people and causes he believes in…why else would he have stood by the Clintons for so long…sadly I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if we heard nothing but crickets from them…

  • FreemanAmerica

Pick a target….Freeze it…. personalize it….polarize it….number 13 in Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals in action…. And used by the media for heaven sake….Maybe all our wonderful MSM reporters could actually do some reporting for a change…At least Woodward was true to the profession…Rest of you are political tools used by a criminal President..And you don’t even know it
