State Department lobbying for ‘Argo’ to win Best Picture

Tomorrow night is Oscar night, and following tradition, the U.S. State Department has cast its vote for Best Picture. Just kidding… or not? We forget sometimes that the “JK” in State Department tweets means that Secretary of State John Kerry has sent out the tweet personally. Is Kerry about to start an international incident by rooting for good buddy Ben Affleck?

Kerry did see the film, right? The State Department didn’t exactly save the day.

Whatever: the State Department’s lobby looked awesome on screen.

JK – Did you know that no one really cares where the scenes were filmed? What difference does it make?

  • Spatial Awareness

.@StateDept was incompetent & mocked in the film…. Just like now.

  • disqus_LASIg6epmj

I already refuse to watch anything Baffleck or Matt Daaamon are in. Twitter and celeb pontificating has ruined movie going for me.

    • rinodino

      Oh well sucks doesn’t it?

      • Corey Dennison

No. Somehow those of us who feel the same way Jules does survive without the culture’s lifeblood that is Hollyweird liberalism.

        Wild stuff, huh?

    • tdpwells

At least Affleck is respectful toward differing opinions (from what I’ve seen) and doesn’t pontificate at every turn, unlike Damon. I won’t watch any Damon movie, he’s a pompous prick, but I don’t have that issue with Affleck.

Kerry should be more concerned with the war in Syria than who wins at the Oscars tomorrow night.

  • Steve_J

In the last 4 and 1/2 years I’ve noticed government agencies lobbying the private sector more then they ever have, at least in my memory. State Dept. lobbying for a particular movie to win an Oscar and just a few years ago they were lobbying for an arms dealership in Mexico.

  • Tangchung

Kerry is still learning to walk in
    Hillary’s high heels.

    • waltermitty2012

Hilary wears flats. She gave up wearing high-heels after dodging sniper fire in Bosnia. 😉

Why is this the concern of any government official on taxpayer time? DO YOUR JOB.

  • Jimni27

Good thing he’s taking his job seriously- j/k

  • Guest

Whorelyood was instructed to shun Zero Dark Thirty,
    because it demonstrated the effectiveness of enhanced interrogation;
and the dithering of the Coward-in-Chief.

  • Michael Rice

That film had so much made up stuff in it, it wasnn’t even funny.

  • TocksNedlog

JK is just angling to say “You rang?” in Affleck’s next film.

  • TocksNedlog

Affleck & Kerry starring in “Stiff And Stiffer”

  • TocksNedlog

Say what you will about Kerry, but at least his better half is a woman!

    • Garth Haycock

      That’s debatable.

  • kim

Well so glad you had nothing better to do than worry about awards in Hollywood. Good thing you weren’t bothering to investigate your inaction in Benghazi

  • lillymckim

Another award show another day /night of egos on parade where the STARS pat each other on the back and collect little bronze statues to prove their worth?

The USA is so invested in “Hollywood” and their shallow self absorbed way of life they worship this sick media pushed obsession.

  • lillymckim

So Hollowwood and The State Department have merged as one? Obama=Hollywood.
China is watching and we are so screwed.

  • Paul Citro

Follow the money trail from the WH to Hollywood. Is this like green energy?

  • Dimart45

These people are so sad. Will he be doing “Mom Dances” next?

  • Red Fred

State Dept. says “good luck at the Oscars, JK (just kidding??) Oh.h.h.h John Kerry…I find it bizarre the state dept is tweeting actors not answering Benghazi.

  • linnicy

They have time to tweet, but cannot tell the truth about Benghazi? Are they tweeting at work? Then that is on our $. Hollywood is in BO’s pockect already.
