Sen. Ted Cruz shocked that MSNBC is shocked over claim of Marxists at Harvard

Sen. Ted Cruz, already depicted as the reincarnation of Sen. Joseph McCarthy by everyone from the New York Times to Cher, was the subject of much hand-wringing yesterday over a report that he believed there were more Marxists than Republicans teaching at Harvard Law School during his time there.

Feeling the heat, Cruz took to Twitter today to backtrack. What? He didn’t? Is this how McCarthy would have responded?

Harvard is used for legitimization purposes,
for the Comrades who rely upon credentialism.
Ted “the lifeguard” Kennedy was suspended for blatant cheating,
    but soon forgiven, of course.

    • kim

well if you can forgive a man for killing a young woman and continue to re-elect him over and over, how could you possibly not forgive him for cheating?

      • Jim Denney

That wasn’t Teddy’s fault. Back in the day when GM was an evil, for profit corporation they didn’t make Oldsmobiles that floated after you passed out and drove them off a bridge.
Now that it’s Glorious Motors, we can expect some “commonsense proposals” that will protect all of US.

  • FreedomFighter

When debating communism with a liberal they belittle you by saying you don’t even know what communism is, or youre living in the past, there is nothing to fear about communism.
When you point out the fact that there are communists within their own party, they get defensive and deny, deny, deny. Its as if theyre scared to know there are communists in their own party, but tell you there is nothing to fear about communism. Double standards, hypocrisy and denial.

    • Matt Vernon

Liberals!? Liberals are reactionary, reformist, and more often than not, counter-revolutionaries. If you want to talk about Marx with someone who will treat you as an equal and discuss rather than belittle you, well the best place for that is to find a true leftist. A – dare I say it – a RADICAL even.

Part of the problem with the double standard for communism is that the word itself, like so many other political words in our culture, has a double meaning. There is our understanding of the word from a historical point of view (USSR, China, Vietnam) that were manifestations of revolutions claiming to be communist, but which in retrospect (and even at the time) were very obviously fascist. Nonetheless, when most Americans here “communism,” this is the boogeyman they imagine. The other definition of communism, the true definition, I would argue, is clear by the word itself – comm- being the root of community, communal, communication, commute, etc. It’s a shared exchange, a collective agreement to work together for the benefit of the community at large and, by extension, for one’s self. This is an incredibly simplified example, so it doesn’t do the idea justice, but no one wants to read a random internet-martian type a book about Marx.

      • Ben Bollman

Karl Marx said Marxism would never work – end of discussion.

        • Patrick Dennehy

In times of crisis give temporary control to the government and trust them to sort it out; too bad they never give it back…Austerity is the only course of action. I much prefer the Keynesian method, after extensively reading both their works. We have already raised taxes on the “rich”. So not many, if any, new taxes are needed. Obama has never set a budget for #^$%’s sake.

The problem, one can have the most ideal economic theory but when money is involved; there is no room for human integrity. “Atheist progressive liberal socialists” really think about that; then read christian philosophy for contrast. It’s the mindset that needs to change, not the policy.

          • Ben Bollman

To the progressive morality is the government forcing people to give “their fair share”(even though that share is significantly more if you are successful) to the government to redistribute to low-income people with no incentive of bettering themselves. To the conservative morality is allowing people to give of their own free will(which Jesus taught) to charity so that low income people can have the essentials so they can get back on their feet on their own.

      • PennyRobinsonFanClub

Obfuscation, one of the Commie’s favorite tools. Used here by one big tool.

    • FFlintstone

Did anyone see Whooping Goldberg on The View talking about how awesome communism is?

It’s liberals that don’t understand what communism is. It’s not about furry hats and vodka. It’s about the government running everything with their central plan. The auto industry, healthcare, housing, oil, etc are all communal property and doled out by those in charge with communism.

There isn’t a single aspect of communism that the liberals have not thought about doing since Obama took office. Whether its Obama and his healthcare, Grijalva and his desire to have government own and rent houses, or The Fairness Doctrine designed to silence critics, Dems are seem to like communist ideas as long as you don’t call them communist.

  • Joy Daniels Brower

Love his/your idea of “backtracking!!” Let the libturd weasels do their best to throw a hissy fit; in the end, Cruz will be left standing tall for all six of his remaining years in the Senate (and beyond?). This should be both interesting & encouraging, esp. to would-be Conservatives running for Senate in future!

  • narciso

Well if one considers all of Obama’s professors, Bell, De Unger, Ogletree, that’s a quarter of the total,

  • TocksNedlog

MSNBC is only ‘shocked’ because they thought they already had all of Harvard’s Communists working for them.

    • kim

they probably thought all the commies, marxists and socialist were still in their closet

  • kim

they are always shocked. I think it is on purpose to cover up the results of so many facelifts. (see Nancy Pelosi)

  • Spatial Awareness

    @SenTedCruz = A-W-E-S-O-M-E

  • labman57

Actually, Ted is right. You simply have to think like a tea party lunatic.

To wit, according to Glenn Beck, all progressives are communists. It’s quite probable that most Harvard Law professors have progressive views … ergo, they’re a bunch of commies!

    • ThorOdinson

No, you simply have to ask them. Many of them don’t bother hiding it. In my own university several professors make no bones about the fact that they’re full-fledged Marxists, even going so far as to state that a thousand years of Communist rule are still to come. And that’s in Miami, which is filled with people who’ve fled Communist hellholes…

    • RevDrEBuzz

progs share quite a bit of philosophy with communists, enough to make them indistinguishable.

oh, but theyre totally into milton friedman dude.

    • PennyRobinsonFanClub

“Progressivism” is one of those dog-whistle code words for “Communism/Marxism.” Like a lot of words, it has been hijacked and perverted for political purposes. Like in the ’80s, under President Ronald Reagan, when cries for “Peace” meant “Unilateral Nucular Disarmament.”

(Yes, I know, but you’d have been disappointed if I’d spelt it right, huh?)

  • sqeptiq

So why did Cruz want to study under Marxists?

    • NRPax

Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster.

      • sqeptiq

Naw. It’s more that Cruz wants to appeal to bumpkins who resent Harvard.

        • NRPax

So before he went there, he could see years into the future and knew that not only would he be a Senator but he’d have to appeal to folks who didn’t go there? I think you’re crediting him with some amazing powers there.

          • sqeptiq

Nope. People go to school where they like it, not where they hate it (so as to learn the ways of the enemy). Choosing to attend a school you hate is too bitter for conservatives. Cruz knows Texas is full of dumb yokels who resent that they they couldn’t get into a decent school and neither could their halfwitted children. And these yokels vote, so telling them that America’s great universities are shitholes of communism and treason is a good way of salving the losers’ wounds and winning their votes.

          • NRPax

Ah the joys of stereotyping. I’m surprised you’re not all over that NASCAR thread as well.

          • sqeptiq

Q: When Dale Earnhardt died, why didn’t they publish a nice biography, as they often do after the death of a famous person?

A: Because NASCAR fans can’t read.

Hey! See that word “progressive” up there, lol?!?

          • Billie Slash

You’re an idiot. On the one hand, you accuse Cruz of stereotyping Harvard faculty (a place you’ll never get admitted to), then you proceed to stereotype Texas (a place you’ll never get admitted to).
It must suck to be you.

          • sqeptiq

I didn’t complain about stereotyping Harvard faculty; I said what Cruz said was untrue. And while I’ve never attended Harvard, I don’t have a loser’s resentment of that great university. As for Texas, I’ve been there several times and never been refused admittance. If they want to be able to keep smart-assed Yankees out, they need to secede ? and Texans are all talk and no action in that regard.

          • Billie Slash

“Smart-assed” maybe, but not really smart, if all you could find to hang with were “yokels”. I was born here, and I don’t know any yokels. I have many friends whose children graduated from ivy-league schools, then smartly high-tailed it home to Texas. Put that in your bong, bub.

          • PennyRobinsonFanClub

What an idiot you are! Troll harder, Media Matters isn’t giving you that nickel-a-word to be a COMPLETE embarrassment.

  • patriot fan

They were only shocked that he had the balls to say it out loud to the media!

  • radjahshelduck

Hey, any of you guys know where Bernie Sanders, the one person in the Senate who actually calls himself a socialist, went to college? Bueller? Bueller?
That’s right. He went to the University of Chicago, the same uber-expensive private school Barack Obama taught at. The same university that was founded with John D. Rockefeller’s money.
And that’s what drives me nuts with a lot of these leftists, and Senator Cruz has kind of hit on it. Funny how these hypocrites are always affiliated with the Harvards and U. of Chicagos that only the one percent can attend. If Obama and Sanders think the government has all the answers, why didn’t they personally attend or teach at Kennesaw State?

    • michael s

Wow a right winger that actually called WHITE admitted socialist senator Bernie Sanders a socialist. I’ve been waiting for one of you to do that .

      • pedrobud

        Hey Mikey
I live in Vermont and Bernie is an admitted socialist. Instead of name calling, it might make sense to know what you are talking about. Right, Mikey ?? GOOGLE IT WHAT difference does color make ?

        • michael s

please explain the name calling i did/

      • PennyRobinsonFanClub

Whaaaaaa??????? You off your meds again, Stupid?

          • Scott Anderson

There is the difference between regular people and leftists: leftists are not only racist, but supremely racist.

  • RevDrEBuzz

    communists at harvard! impossible!

  • Pat Loudoun

You would think these libs would at least have read Barack’s own books. You know, the ones where he writes about seeking out Marxist to hang with.

  • FreedomRecon

So instead of actually using facts to argue on this post, you use stereotyping, name calling, and ignorance to fight your battles?

  • sqeptiq

That sounds suspicious? escaping Texas for the civilized world only to return to the land of cacti and high school football.
