CPAC invitation calls MSNBC’s Chris Hayes ‘one of America’s leading conservative voices’

As Twitchy reported, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes was invited to participate in a CPAC panel while gay conservative group GOProud was not. The stupid, it burns:

Hayes appears to have received the same form letter as other invitees.

As one of America’s leading conservative voices, your participation in CPAC 2013 will be critical in our efforts to unite and energize conservatives.

But Hayes’ “leading conservative voice” is unlikely to make it to CPAC after all.

For those of you who need a reminder of who Chris Hayes is:

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes observes Memorial Day weekend: ‘I’m uncomfortable calling fallen soldiers heroes’; Update: More backpedaling fail

Heckuva job, CPAC!

  • Gloves Donahue, Jr.

By “Chris Hayes,” they meant Ted Cruz.

  • Tangchung

    “uncomfortable calling killed soldiers hero’s”

People need to wake up to what is going on…

    • sqeptiq

What good does it do dead soldiers to call them heroes?

      • Love of Country

Help console those they left behind that we took notice of their sacrifice… and to mark their role in protecting our rights and our freedoms – even if a large portion of the people they are fighting for are too ignorant to realize it is these heroes that give them rights to speak their ignorant thoughts.

        • sqeptiq

I don’t care to get cheap praise from strangers or to dispense it.

          • Love of Country

no one is praising you – or are you a dead soldier that fought for our country

  • Infinite_Indeterminism

One wonders whether this letter was really sent by them – does anyone have any info on that point ?

    • NealK

The invitation has been in the news for a few days. CPAC would have denied it by now if it wasn’t real, or at least one would hope.

  • Scott Carroll

With shining intellectual beacons like CPAC lighting our way, I fear we’re doomed. They just handed Chris Hayes and MSNBC a cudgel and said “Please beat the hell out of me with it.”

    • sqeptiq

It’s not a cudgel. All CPAC has to do lift the ban on GOProud, and Hayes will appear and participate.

  • Steve_J

    He’s a conservative?

    • dcnj

He is all that’s wrong with this country rolled up in one pathetic little mannish boy

    • lainer51

just the opposite… he is an Ed Schultz wannabe, apparently the invite was meant for another Chris Hayes.. although, God forbid, there are 2 of them!

  • Charm4sure

Remember, this is MSNBC were hearing from. What does CPac have to say? It better be good.

  • jacksonjay

Invite Chris Hayes AND Mitt Romney? We are doomed!

    • wwbdinct

Well, they both can stand next to Palin when she speaks. If they’re brave enough.

      • lainer51

They are not brave enough… they are both wimps, she is anything but…

      • Jymn Parrett

Palin is a joke and you know it. As a prog, I am so happy she is the featured performer at CPAC. As long as she is heralded by the right, the left will continue its winning streak.

        • Bumr50

Oh, that’s right. The woman that’s not even running for office.

Keep living in their heads, Sarah!

          WaPo –

“Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin — though derided on the left and recently dismissed by former vice president Dick Cheney as a poor pick
in 2008 — is nevertheless proving her enduring power within the
Republican Party in the most concrete of ways: She keeps picking winners.

Each of five candidates she has endorsed this year who have
faced primaries or other campaigns have won, including former Texas
solicitor general Ted Cruz, who Tuesday beat the state’s well-connected lieutenant governor for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.”

          Come and get some!

          • Jymn Parrett

All hail Sarah. Liberals are beside themselves with joy. Speak Sarah, speak.

        • Jackptg

After the 2008 election Sarah Palin helped lead Republicans to the greatest congressional victory in several generations during the 2010 election;she has endorsed 73 candidates for the US House of Representatives and Senate; state governors and attorney generals. Her success rate is at 69%.
18 out of 20 targets in her Take Back the 20 campaign ; this is a 90% success rate!

Sarah Palin also had a very strong hand in the party’s few successes during this election . Sarah Palin campaigned for constitutional conservatives llike Ted Cruz, Deb Fischer, Jeff Flake, Paul Gosar, resulting in 5 conservatives being elected to the Senate and 32 conservatives to the House.

In 2010, Sarah Palin backed South Carolina’s Tim Scott. He won in 2010 and he won the re-election. She backed other African Americans like Allen West and Mia Love. Both of those candidates narrowly lost their races by 2,000 votes in the case of Love and 1,000 votes in the case of West.

Sarah Palin has also penned commentary on such topics as the unrest in Libya, the protests in Wisconsin, Obama’s 2012 budget proposal and State of the Union address, getting tough with Iran and standing with Iranians who seek democracy, challenging the specifics of President Obama’s energy policy, the omnibus spending bill, defeating the New START, opposition to state bailouts, tax policy, a message to Republican freshmen in Congress, opposition to quantitative easing, and more.

She has repeatedly been a leading voice—via television appearances and speaking engagements—against the dangers of ObamaCare and the risks of President Obama’s approach to energy.

Sarah Palin worked tirelessly to forward the commonsense conservative agenda she had always articulated and campaigned with and for those she believed best represented the values she believes are needed in government. And she continues her work to help put government back on the side of the people.

        • wwbdinct

“As a libtard, I am so happy she is the featured performer at CPAC”. There – I fixed it for you.

          • Jymn Parrett

“libtard” – I just love the right’s open mindedness and kindness. Not to mention their ways with words.

          • wwbdinct

Exactly. Because you just had to chime in with hateful spite toward Sarah Palin for no reason – just because Palin. Take your sanctimonious crap and stick it up your ass libtard.

          • Jymn Parrett

I did not insult or use ‘hateful spite’ in regards to Palin. Can you not read? I was all praise! “All hail Sarah. Liberals are beside themselves with joy. Speak Sarah, speak.”

          • awm48

no worse than rethuglican or teabagger, and before you say it, i realize ‘you’ didn’t say it in your comment, but they sure do get tossed around an awful lot by those models of tolerance and civility on the left

          • Jymn Parrett

‘Teabagger’ was a term you invented for yourselves on the right. We just made fun of your lack of awareness of the term. BTW, we make fun of you but not of “retarded” people, which your “tolerance and civility” call us on the left.

          • wwbdinct

Sure honey. Whatever you say. But of course you libtards would know all about teabagging, wouldn’t you? If you libtards are as “civil” as you claim to be, then you wouldn’t be making fun of anyone…right? Hypocrite. Oh and BTW – you lefties made fun of Trig Palin on a daily basis. An innocent baby. So once again, take your sanctimonious BS and shove it. Now I’m done with you. Reply back if you want but if you do, then that will definitely make you a Libtard.

          • Jymn Parrett

I make fun of my family and friends and visa versa. Your life must be extremely dour without humour. So, SNL, The Onion, Fox News’ overnight comedy show, Daily Show are haters because they make fun? Please link to a leftie who made fun of Trig. Should be easy because we do it on a “daily basis.” What? Couldn’t find any to back up your claim? Didn’t think so. LOL.

          • ozconservative

Haven’t heard of Google have we???

          • Dencal26

If you viewed those shows as comedy you would have a point but so many on the left rely on comedy central for their political opinion.

          • Jymn Parrett

And you guys Fox News, Daily Caller and Drudge. Really solid news agencies. LOL.

          • Dencal26

Drudge does not create content. It links to news stories. DUH

          • daeghrefn

No, I think that was Anderson Cooper.

          • derekcrane

cooper only takes it when he is on his stomach

          • Jymn Parrett

Pull up a chair kiddies and I will tell you the tale of my only interaction with your hero, Andrew Breitbart. I once posted an incorrect story on Breitbart. Within MINUTES, Mr. B tweeted me the story was fake. I checked and it was. I deleted the text of my post and changed the headline to apologize to Andrew. Again, within minutes, Andrew tweeted, thanking me for the correction and expressing surprise that I corrected the post. See, honesty is the best policy. You guys should emulate the better aspects of Breitbart instead of acting like clueless assholes.

          • daeghrefn

So you’re a self-admitted, er, “truth-challenged” journo-type. You want a medal? Or maybe we’re supposed to think you’ve given up those “fakey” ways?

          • derekcrane

I’m aware of it, which is why I call Barney Frank the only true tea bagger.

          • mike_in_kosovo

Actually, the term came from you lefties after seeing people with tea bags on their hats.

            Nice try.

          • Dencal26

First person I heard use the term Tea Bagger was Andersen Cooper.

          • svobodnik

You are retarded if you are a liberal – hence “libtard” – get it??? Probably not…..not smart enough.

        • des111168

          As a prog, you’re a troll.

          • Jymn Parrett

            Thank you!

        • svobodnik

I love Sarah Palin. I love the lefties losing their minds when she is around…….awesome.

        • Dencal26

Palin ousted a corrupt sitting GOP Governor. Obama campaigned for Blago. Palin is no joke.

          • Jymn Parrett

I am very, very happy Sarah Palin is back in the public eye. Go Sarah Go!

          • Dencal26

I am too. Honesty is always refreshing

  • crankycatholic

    CPAC … is broken.

  • $27789750

Have never heard Hayes or read anything except a headline or two which turned me off when I saw MSNBC next to his name. As far as I’m concerned he will be small loss…not because of his politics, but his cowardice.

  • lainer51

has CPAC lost their *&%$# mind?

  • Stone Bryson

CPAC is surely making a statement here, no?

“Gays and lesbians, we are so reviled by your sexuality we’d prefer to have a committed progressive – with whom we disagree 99% of the time – at our conference than you.”

Normally Hayes’ inane commentary makes my brain feel dumber, but I have to give him props for the way he’s played this one. He gets to say ‘no’ without actually saying ‘no’ because… CPAC? Gays? Not going to happen, at least not in this go around…

    • V the K

Maybe CPAC thought Teh Gheys would be mollified if they brought in a metrosexual hipster instead; a lot of people can’t tell them apart, anyway.

      • Stone Bryson

Maybe they did – after all, Hayes does vaguely resemble Rachel Maddow in drag. Bumbling stumbling confusion seems to be the MO for CPAC where dem homosexualz are concerned.

  • Everybodys All American

Chris Hayes is as liberal as Chris Mathews. Give me a friggin break. Who can be this stupid. This has to be a joke.

  • Ben Bollman

Just another reason CPAC and the RNC need dismantled or a serious overhaul. I’m pretty sure the people who run them forgot what conservatism is.

  • Mario Leone

Did they mean to invite Steve Hayes of the Weekly Standard? Gosh CPAC is an embarrassment. Palin, Romney, and this guy! At least Rand Paul is speaking!

  • Sunshineandsurf

Oh, that Chris Hayes the substitute liberal progressive stand- in for Rachel Maddow. Did so well MSNBC gave him his own show on Sunday mornings so he and his vile guests can bash Republicans and conservatives while they are at church.

  • foo

GOProud has attacked conservatives as well. Chris Barron is a bully. Don’t invite either of them.

  • kim

cancel him CPAC if you expect viewers, donors, etc

  • DaMav

Hayes is elevated slightly above the liberal ooze for a moment by a clerical error.

  • TMZ2

Huh? Is this satire? I need a back story instead of tweets

  • Guest

There is an image of Hayes next to the definition of ANDROGYNOUS in the dictionary.
They were not permitted to use Obama’s image for copyright reasons.

  • Hajjster

Are Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow twins?

  • des111168

Neither should be invited. Neither are conservative. Why is that so hard for the Twitchy staff to understand?

    • Sherri Seiber

What does this have to do with the Twitchy staff?

  • Rob Stevely

Im starting to think Bobby Jindal was right.

  • rinodino

Chris Hayes at a conservative event Glenn beck wrestling. Love it!!!!!

  • daeghrefn

Maybe they mistook Chris Hayes for Stephen Hayes.

    • Dr_Tesla

      that is probably what happened.

    • derekcrane

      maybe “bullett” bob hayes

    • Biff Wellington

I’ve often mistaken Chris Hayes for Rachael Maddow…

  • Dr_Tesla

Chris Hayes is the walking stereotype of a gay liberal. dude is so ugly but he thinks he is a handsome fella.

  • Dr_Tesla

i’d kind of like one year of the CPAC not to be about gay stuff. when CPAC is there, it turns into a gay rodeo. when they are not invited, it’s all we hear about.

    • BeeKaaay

Right now, the LGBTQwhatever….thing is the current fad. Until the next sexual orientation gets their 15 minutes of fame.

Polygamists are warming up in the bullpen.

  • DavidKramer

CPAC, hmmm, I do not think they know what conservative means……………..I swear, we are being defeated by our very own people!

  • John (it true me am)

Wow. So I’ll repeat what I said the other day. I am completely over CPAC. What a horrible, horrible little charade they are running.

  • Jeanette Victoria

    CPAC a Joke.

  • BenInNY

Could they be dumb enough to mix him up with Steven Hayes?

  • Ender Wiggin

They are kidding right? This guy is left of Maddow

  • Kyle Schroeck

Conservatism is about freedom, So why are CPAC keeping out GOProud? What your neighbors do in their own home does not affect you. It’s not our job to be the moral police and lets embrace these groups that want to be part of the movement.
