Shameless: Obama recruits Gabby Giffords photo for gun-grabbing campaign

President Obama’s crusade to slow the rise of the oceans and put a stop to gun violence is well underway, but he can’t do it alone. To help him be clear, he’s using Twitter to help spread the gun-grabbing gospel:

That’s all well and good, but he needs to really up the prop-aganda factor. Enter Gabby Giffords:

Ugh.

It’s pathetic. Meanwhile:

Chicago’s already the poster child for gun control, yet gun violence persists. Oh well. That truth is far too inconvenient for a messiah on a mission.

  • NachoCheese (D)

The Benghazi 4 deserve a vote!

    • nc

They did “vote” that night, but were ignored.

  • CatHerder

They couldn’t get Christopher Reeve? Oh right…warm up another token!

    • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

His was from a fall. Better choice would be Jim Brady, but no one remembers him anymore. Sarah has been wheeling him around for photo ops for decades.

      • CatHerder

Just another case of if you can’t win clean, just win, I reckon.

  • Matthew Koch

Unless the 19th Amendment has been repealed I’m pretty sure that Gabby Giffords already can vote.

  • The First Lady ; D

Its not pathetic or shameless. Its predictable. Obama is a Master of PR, and a heart string puller. All emotion, no facts. Gabby, G-d Bless her, doesn’t see she’s a prop, she’s a Democrat, and very blessed to be alive.

    • mhojai

Unfortunately, it is not so much that jugears is “masterful,” but that his constiuency is so damned stupid!

  • bossmanham

Yes, because we should all take the policy advice of the severely brain damaged.

Once the President is done using her and once she has fulfilled her uses to him, he will readily throw her in the trash and move on to the next fresh pair that he can exploit.

    • salvagesalvage

He’s totally never going to be President again.

      • pajamakat

Don’t count him out yet. God only knows what these dems have up their sleeve.

        • salvagesalvage

zzzoooooOOOOM! And the sarcasm is over the head!

The Dems don’t need anything up their sleeve if Mittens is the best y’all can do.

          • Shawn Smith

You mean they don’t need anything more up their sleeve than they lying, complicit media. I’m pretty sure having the Pravda on their side was a big advantage for the communist party too.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! The media lied about Obama and that’s why he won the election! I guess the media didn’t want to lie about Al Gore or John Kerry because during those years the media forgot that it works for the DNC.

            Wingnuts; stupid is their oxygen.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Lies of omission are still lies, leftard. Mischaracterizations of GOP candidates are lies too….or didn’t you know that?

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes, that explains why the media stopping working against the GOP during Reagan and Bushes!

Reality isn’t multiple choice unless you are wingnut.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Ha! Ha! Yes, I remeber how much the media just loved, loved, loved Reagan and both Bush Presidents. Never worked against any of them, or ever portrayed them negatively…

You’re not very good at this, aren’t you? Reality isn’t EVER a choice if you’re a libtard.

          • salvagesalvage

And that’s why they never won a re-election!

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Which has nothing to do with the fact thast the media is completely biased and shamelessly works toward leftard ends.

            You fail again.

          • salvagesalvage

I know wingnuts see it that way because wingnuts deny reality that they don’t like so when the news says stuff they don’t want to be true they scream it’s all lies!!!!

Then they watch Fox News where they are told what they want to be true is true. Like how Romney was going to win in a landslide, it was obvious that wasn’t true but wingnuts refused to believe otherwise.

You’d think they’d learn from that sort of thing happening over and over again but if they could learn they would not be wingnut.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

            Really? I don’t watch Fox.

[poof] There goes your theory, numnutz.

Wingnuts demand six pieces of ID for people to vote but think that fetuses should be allowed?

It’s this inconsistency that makes you wingnut.

      • Shawn Smith

Fetuses should be allowed what? To exist? To not be murdered for profit? Yes. We think that. What does that have to do with asking for *one* piece of photo ID to vote?

        • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! Women have abortions for “profit”! You clearly understand the issue.

It has to do with how skewed you see the world.

          • Shawn Smith

No, dumbass, doctors *perform* abortions for profit. Or do you think they kill infants for charity.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! Doctors wander around looking for pregnant women and then talk the women into the abortion because there is nothing in medicine that pays more than abortion! It’s also easier cuz you’re killing something so you can do like a dozen in a day so it attracts lazy / incompetent doctors.

Oh wingnuts, understanding stuff isn’t that hard, why can’t you?

          • http://www.facebook.com/138900508 Patrick Dennehy

A planned parent hood “doctor” makes ≈125k/yr. They don’t need to go looking, there are millions of people with hedonistic desires and no moral compass. I understand some people just make a mistake and feel they have no other recourse.

“It’s also easier cuz you’re killing something so you can do like a dozen in a day so it attracts lazy / incompetent doctors.”

Exactamundo! Ding Ding Ding…lightbulb?! These repugnant lazy “doctors”, make over 100k a year of tax payer money. How can they live with themselves…are your synapses not firing right?

HELLO?! heeelllooo…heeellllooo..helllo. I can hear the deep resounding echo resonating through the expanse you call a head.

I have lost my patience…come on, man. If you’re trolling just stop. How can you not be devastated by the tremendous loss of life brought on by impropriety? I feel sorry for you. Something that profound cannot penetrate your soul? Innocent life is especially precious. Yes, I am a “wingnut” because I strive for a life of probity and virtue.

          • salvagesalvage

And if they did other doctoring they’d be making minimum wage!

Hey, you know what prevents abortion? Birth control, so you’re in favor of that right?

          • http://www.facebook.com/138900508 Patrick Dennehy

I would rather make a modest salary…If it meant a clear conscious.

You know what prevents abortions? Self-abnegation. I believe in continency, with full awareness of eros.

I don’t want my gf on birth control because I don’t want her putting all those hormones in her body. I am not against it per se. There are other ways to handle yourself. Birth control creates a mentality of promiscuity. All I know is I am 33 and I’ve handled my business.

I will refer you to Carl Jung, C.S. Lewis, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine, Jane Austen, Pope JP2, and Pope Benedict XVI for further instruction.

          • salvagesalvage

          • bluewaternavy

I’ll bet your GF’s abortion was paid for by taxpayers, as you’re too busy in mommy’s basement.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! Mommy’s basement, that’s the go-to insult for wingnuts.

It’s weird they say they’re all family values but seem to think that living with ones family is sneer-worthy. Just another wingnut contradiction that they never seem to notice.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Hint: If you can’t make it out of your parent’s basement by the time you’re an adult, then everyone in that situation has failed.

But, nice strawman argument you’ve made just the same.

AHAHAHAHAHAH! YES! You get flyers and emails and doctors knocking on your door!

The bizarre mind of the wingnut, do they believe the things they say or are they delusional or is it a mix and they don’t know where it begins and ends.

          • rivers

Keep saying wingnuts over and over and laughing in all caps, it’s a very persuasive form of argument, I’m practically convinced by your unimpeachable logic!

          • salvagesalvage

Of course it isn’t but you are wingnut, you are immune to any sort of logic, reason or fact.

That’s why you cheered the Iraq war and consider it mission accomplished even though there never was any WMD and Iraq is now in far worse shape.

          • rivers

And there it is! Salvage defends abortion because – wait for it – War in Irag, WMD’S!
            Plus, abortion=good because: Wingnuts!

You are using so many arguments that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. Understanding and keeping arguments strait is so hard for you isn’t it @salvagesalvage:disqus .

          • rivers

Oh yeah, and there are no ambulance chasing lawyers either, are there? You should read some Germaine Greer. She wrote an excellent piece on why abortion isn’t going away, because there is too much money in it, essentially, it has become an industry unto itself, Big Abortion if you will. But oh, but it’s hard for the intolerant like you to think beyond the tip of your nose, isn’t it?

          • salvagesalvage

HAHAHAA! See it’s because wingnuts think this is reality that some of them believe stuff like this:

            http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2012/02/congressman-falls-months-old-onion-story-about-planned-parenthood-abortionplex/48344/

And of course it’s not going away, as long as women get pregnant there will always be some who do not want to be so they will have abortions.

And even if it is “big biz” it’s none of your biz.

That of course is the point you miss, it’s not your body so you get no say in what it has or has not inside it.

          • http://www.facebook.com/138900508 Patrick Dennehy

I don’t want to end abortion through legislation. That is doomed to fail. I want to end abortion through enlightenment and love.

A more successful plan would be free access to birth control and comprehensive sex education.

          • http://www.facebook.com/138900508 Patrick Dennehy

Yes stopping menstrual cycles and the public school system is clearly better than spiritual enlightenment. Is it more tractable, now that our society eschews personal responsibility? I’m incredulous. Sad, we don’t hold ourselves or our fellow man in very high esteem, apparently. You progressives just keep moving away from Christ to your own determent. Take religion out of our schools, government, and society…and insert the god of big government? Great idea, enjoy the animal farm in the cult of personality.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! Jesus is the answer!

Wingnuts often think that supernatural forces are going to fix problems or somehow help out. They haven’t noticed that humanity has been asking countless gods to do stuff for and they never actually do.

It wasn’t until science and the age of reason and enlightenment started giving us a clear understanding of our world and are actual role in it before things started getting better and humans lived longer, healthier and happier lives.

Not all wingnuts are theists but the majority are, I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

And not all libtards are statist, power-hungry, racist, amoral cretins, but most are. I don’t believe that’s a coincidence either.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! Liberals are the real racists!

            Wingnuts! Endless source of amusement.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Yes, actually, they are. It was conservatives who formed the abolitionist Republican party. It was the conservative GOP that fought the liberal democrat Civil Rights filibuster. It is the liberals who continue to believe that minorities can’t survive without a hand up (now a hand out), that somehow without the help of white liberals, minorities will forever be inferior.

And lest we forget, remind us all again who formed the KKK, and who the original target of the KKK was? (Hint: it was black Republicans…)

Yes, libtards: an endless supply of contradiction and projection.

          • salvagesalvage

Yeah, you’re not a conservative, you are a wingnut. Wingnuts think they’re conservative but it’s just another thing they are stupid about.

Another fun thing about wingnuts; Wingnut Facts, stuff that they say that is on the surface really stupid and unbelievable and if you look closer they’re even more retarded!

            Stuff like:

            > It was the conservative GOP that fought the liberal democrat Civil Rights filibuster

Now this is a boiler plate Wingnut fact, one they’re really internalized, even the racist ones. I know that’s a weird contradiction but wingnuts!

            >the original target of the KKK was? (Hint: it was black Republicans…)

That’s a new one! I’m not sure if this wingnut just made it up or if it’s repeating it (probably) but it sure is an excellent example.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Wow…so to you, a fact that escapes your ignorant troll grasp is now ‘boilerplate wingnut’ or whatever that is.

You should crack open a history book.

Democrats DID try to filibuster the Civil Rights act: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100607120515AAOGAWf

And the KKK–started by Democrats did target black Republicans:

            http://www.nationalblackrepublicans.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=pages.DYKKKKTerroristArmoftheDemocratParty&page_id=93&tp_preview=true

You might want to research “The Southern Strategy” a bit further @salvagesalvage:disqus. It was actually a strategy used by Democrats to keep conservative Southern White voters tied to the liberal party. You’re such a ninny

          • salvagesalvage

AAhahahahaha! Wow, well you should pass thirty little nugget on to the GOP because a few years ago they officially apologized for it.

          • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

Please reference who apologized, when and in what platform. Especially since you didn’t argue with my statement about The Southern Strategy being used by Democrats.

          • salvagesalvage

Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman apologized to one of the nation’s largest black civil rights groups Thursday, saying Republicans had not done enough to court blacks in the past and had exploited racial strife to court white voters, particularly in the South.

            http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-07-14-GOP-racial-politics_x.htm

Another funny thing about wingnuts and Wingnut Facts. It doesn’t matter that they are wrong, they will keep repeating them over and over again even after being shown they are wrong.

Are they aware that they’re doing it or is it some sort of autism? Can’t say.

          • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

Did you read your article from 2005? Quite a search there genius, Ken Mehlman denounced it, he didn’t admit that it was a Republican invention, it was started by the Democrats in order to keep white conservatives in the Democratic party. Another funny thing about leftnuts and their so called research to find facts, they don’t research the whole subject. I’m not sure if they are aware of what they’re doing or if it’s some sort of fact deficit. But I do know that only a leftnut would bring up something like Autism to offer as a put down that doesn’t work.

Once again, leftnut hurls insults but avoids replying to post directly. There were no facts that it was started by Republicans in the article you posted about denouncing the Southern Strategy. You might want to do some more research. One true sign someone can’t back up their statements is when nothing “fact based” is offered in order to prove facts.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! The GOP apologized for something it didn’t do! They’re nutty like that.

          • salvagesalvage

Oh wingnut that doesn’t change the fact that religion is in decline.

And isn’t it strange that Christianity is the One True Religion, the only one with a real god and yet it’s never been the majority, not even close. Wonder why that is?

Well, It’ hard for people like you who have the sense of humor of a per-pubescent boy, I understand. An intelligent and reasonable person would not call people wingnuts for recognizing that abortion is a bloody act of violence that halts a force of life, not to mention a non-solution to the problems that lead many women to seek abortion. I think people like you who choose to live and unexamined life and are too stupid to engage in pragmatic debate are pathetic. You solve nothing, you contribute nothing, in short, you do not make the world a better place. Sadly, you are only going to continue to deteriorate inside and out.

          • rivers

What part was hyperbole, that abortion is violent? Bloody? Halts a force of life? There are no fists, you fool, there are surgical knives and scissors involved, does that help you any? Just what do you think happens, a doctor sprinkles pixie dust and that life form with a heart and circulatory system disappears with a poof into the land of ponies and rainbows? Are you seriously that ignorant? If a woman seeks an abortion because of abuse or poverty does the abortion stop the abuse and end the poverty?

          • salvagesalvage

Ah the pick and choose tax dollars dodge, it’s funny how in nothing else this applies. So a hippy doesn’t want their tax dollars to go to the army, you’d be cool with that? How about someone who doesn’t want their taxes to go to anyone Black, that’d be fine?

It’s weird how you think your morality somehow follows your money.

          • walterc

The military is for the common good, so that’s a poor argument. And I don’t want t be giving my money to individuals of any color, to that doesn’t apply either. Military protection, infrastructure, and commerce between the states is what government should be doing. The rest is just socialism foisted on us by both parties.

          • salvagesalvage

You say its for the common good the hippy could disagree and point out stuff like Iraq did no common no good and isn’t it convenient that you think the government should only spend money on stuff you like! What an amazing coincidence!

          • walterc

The constitution spells out the need to protect the nations security. We can debate all day whether or not Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Europe (twice) was int he interest of national security. Personally I agree with the hippie, bring them all home and protect the borders. Security and infrastructure and commerce between the states is not stuff I like, it’s stuff the Constitution requires. You should look at it sometime, it’s a good read.

          • salvagesalvage

No, there’s no debate on Iraq, it makes Vietnam look like WWII, complete disaster brought on by the worst President in American history.

The point you ignore is you can’t pick and choose where your tax dollars go and I don’t know if you’ve noticed but America has gotten a lot bigger and more complex since the 1700s so some evolution is called for.

          • walterc

Not sure I see where the complete disaster in Iraq lies. We saved the people from a cruel dictator, and let them elect a whole group of dictators and we left the oil there (again) for them to sell to whom ever they wish. and as much as I dislike GW Bush and his neo con bring democracy to people that don’t want it foreign policy and his penchant for spending like democrats on shore leave, he was hardly the worst president in history. That title lies with the community organizer in chief.

And the only need for evolution in government I see is the need for a bigger military to protect longer borders and regulate interstate commerce amongst more states than what we had in 1776.

          • salvagesalvage

If you don’t see the disaster in Iraq than you don’t understand the situation.

Bush was most certainly the worst President in American history and will go down as such, America will be cleaning up his mess for generations.

America is going to be invaded?

And more interstate commerce would be nice but that would mean having labour and environmental policies akin to China, India and the rest of the third world sweat shops the West uses to make our clothes and electronics.

          • walterc

You’re going to have to explain the Iraqi disaster. I only see a bunch of muslims that have been killing each other for 1400 years still killing each other. Granted we spent a boat load of money and soldiers, but not seeing the disaster considering we lost many many more in Viet Nam and many many more in Europe. Both if which GW Bush was not responsible for.

And if you’ve read the papers you would know that America is already being invaded.

And we already have interstate commerce, it’s the governments job to insure it’s fair to both states in any given situation. More state, means more interstate commerce. Not more government intrusion under the guise of interstate commerce.

I think we’ll have to agree to disagree here salvagesalvage.

          • salvagesalvage

ha! Ha! Yes! Those whacky Muslims, Iraq was blowing up every day long before America! You clearly understand history.

No, I read the papers and they’re not saying any such thing, can you explain?

No, your States would still outsource work to China and India and other places because it’s cheaper and the will make more money.

          • walterc

Saddam Hussein using chemical weapons on his own people. Read islamic history and the koran to understand what they’r eup to, and it has nothing to do with anything we or Israel has been doing.

You haven’t heard of the problem we’re having with Illegal aliens? It was in all the papers.

The states outsourcing to foreign countries have nothing to do with Congress being mandated with regulating interstate commerce. My original point was what the government is responsible for, Security, Infrastructure and maintaining peace between the states. That’s it.

          • salvagesalvage

Yeah, Muslims are the only one who ever invade anyone!

Yeah, illegal aliens are sneaking in the US to work crappy jobs for crappy pay. That’s not actually an invasion, invasion are when they come to kill you not clean our toilet.

The Congress can mandate till the cows come home, heck they can cowdate till the men come home it doesn’t change the fact that cheap 3rd world labour is one of the pistons of the Western economy. If you had your way America’s economy would collapse faster than a Soviet car.

Hate to break it to you but globalism is coming and isolationism as silly a dream as any LA Raider’s fan could have.

          • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

Actually @salvagesalvage:disqus there’s more than one definition for invasion. Here, let me help you out with this:1. entrance as if to take possession or overrun 2. infringement by intrusion.

Where has ANY Conservative asked for ‘six pieces of ID’ to vote?

Yeah, didn’t think so. You’re dismissed, moron.

      • bluewaternavy

I need ID for the following:

        Airport travel
        operating a motor vehicle
a bank when cashinbg a check, getting a loan, opening accounts, etc..
        purchasing alcohol
        purchasing cigarettes
        purchase with a charge card
So what is wrong with proving ID when you vote?

        • salvagesalvage

Because the ID laws are generally geared to voter suppression schemes in minority areas. The funny thing is that this time around it backfired and it lead to strong and determined minority vote.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

            Proof please.

The reason your stupid left-wing, MSNBC-approved Obama talking point wilts so easily is thus: in EVERY state that already has voter ID laws, IDs are provided FREE OF CHARGE to those who can’t afford the minimal price.

You’re just not very smart, and seem to show no propensity for critical thinking. While accusing everyone else of using Rush/Fox talking points, you have done nothing but spew forth left wing memes.

            Projection, thy name is salvagesalvage.

By the way, why do you love voter fraud and disenfranchisement so much?

          • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

ID laws weren’t created to start voter suppression. If you want to purchase alcohol, cigarettes, goods with a credit card, establish a bank account, lease an apartment, be seen at a medical facility, check a book out of the library etc you show an ID. I love how leftnuts want to cry “racism” etc when it comes to voting but don’t mind getting an ID for other things.

          • salvagesalvage

Yes, yes they were that’s why they were only focused on specific areas. The fun thing is it totally backfired.

          • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

Again, you offer no argument against my points. However, you want to scream racism. What exactly backfired because you need an ID for all of those things listed and not one leftnut offers up any argument for that.

          • salvagesalvage
          • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

I’m sorry but using CNN as a source for not answering a question is like using a straw to put out a fire. And the author of your “source to prove that it backfired” was an opinion writer. The article clearly states that it’s an “opinion” and his opinion offers no facts against using an ID in order to vote. Again, no argument against needing many forms of ID to survive in every day life.

Black Leaders: ‘Direct Correlation Between Gun Control and Black People Control’
    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/black-leaders-direct-correlation-between-gun-control-and-black-people-control
(CNSNews.com) – Gun control dates back to laws before and after the Civil War that prohibited or restricted African Americans from owning firearms, a group of black leaders said Friday at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
Swimp compared the call for universal background checks for gun purchase to the time when blacks were required to register with the government.

“The first gun laws were put into place to register black folks, to make sure that they would know who we were – that we could not defend ourselves,” Swimp said.

    • Carolyn Pohl

I wish people of all color would note this point and really take it in…….. one point that really hits home for me is that the fundamental difference between a slave and free (hu)man is their right to defend themselves- try cracking a man on the back w/ a whip if he’s packing.

Black Leaders: Gun Control is “Black People Control”
        http://townhall.com/tipsheet/aliciapowe/2013/02/24/black-leaders-gun-control-is-black-people-control-n1519095
A number of African-American leaders joined together Friday to challenge the gun control proposals currently being considered on Capitol Hill, claiming gun control laws are inherently racist.

Swimp compared the call for universal background checks for gun purchase to the time when blacks were required to register with the government.

“I think if you look right after the Emancipation Proclamation – what was going on down in the southern states, it’s very clear that the Dixiecrats wanted to disarm black people to keep us from defending ourselves against the Klansman, who were murdering white and black Republicans to control the ballot box,” Swimp said.

Speakers of the event praised the National Rifle association, explaining the organizations contribution to Civil Rights.

“The National Rifle Association was founded by religious leaders who wanted to protect freed slaves from the Ku Klux Klan” said Harry Alford, the president of the Black Chamber of Commerce. “They would raise money, buy arms, show the free slaves how to use those arms and protect their families. Many of us probably wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the NRA.”

The gun control laws that banned or put restrictions on African Americans from owning firearms in the United States are documented on a timeline from 1640 to 1995 by the National Rifle Association’s Institute of Legislative Action.

All the attention being directed towards gun control is the Obama administration’s strategy to deflect the public’s attention off of the staggering economy, said Alford.

The whole “one life” argument is a very worn out canard. So if it saves just one life, should we get rid of all swimming pools, cars, ladders (no more construction projects); how about cigarettes, Mr. President? Why hasn’t the almighty, benevolent Federal Government moved to make cigarettes illegal? I mean lung cancer kills far more each year than firearms.

The argument can be just as easily used in reverse. If it saves just one life, shouldn’t we have more access to guns. This is why people have had it with politics. The childish, reductio ad absurdum arguments that are constantly flowing out of the sewer holes of those who think they are are intellectual elites, but speak like village idiots.

Uh, no. To cause major national disruption, chaos, loss of business, and taking away of rights is not worth it for a single life. Duh!

What really irks me is when it comes to illegal aliens and amnesty and the amount of crime and lives they take, the liberal view is that is a sacrifice the people have to make because “most of them are here just to work and aren’t criminals”. More liberal hypocrisy.

Barry had only two missions during his lengthy speech that day ….

    1) Blame the whole thing on Sarah Palin

    2) Rehabilitate his own sliding numbers and image

The truth is that it appears that Gabby’s unfortunate attack was just the sort of thing he ‘needed’ at that time judging by the disgusting, demagoguing, narcissistic speech he delivered in front of the nation in her name. It sounds sick, but that’s my personal opinion and I stand by it.

They aren’t ‘military hardware’, you ignorant buffoon.

They are not capable of selective fire with the ability to fire fully-automatically. They are not used by the military…anywhere.

No…AR-15’s are not ‘military hardware.’ They are made specifically for the civilian market and are only capable of semi-automatic fire.

As they are not assault rifles–capable of select fire with the ability to fire full-auto–they are NOT in service in any military.

You continuing to say so doesn’t make it so. I have practical experience with AR-15’s and am using a FACT…you’re stomping your little feet on the ground with your hands over your ears screaming “not not not!”

        • mike_in_kosovo

I’m unsurprised that you didn’t get the point of my comment, to wit: if lax gun laws cause the shooting, why were 500 killed last year in Chicago, home of draconian gun control law?

And, speaking of talking of things they have no clue about…. background checks have to be done at gun shows, you microcephalic twit.

          • salvagesalvage

And assassins are why there should be no background check at gun shows!

            That is very logical.

          • $27789750

Not as illogical as your premise that registering guns would stop attacks or would be assassins. It’s illogical to assume that they would.

          • salvagesalvage

          • Tim jones

Like where? Russia, china, north Korea, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, or some other place under an oppressive regime? Sure there’s less shooting deaths in the uk but of course their violent crime is greater then ours. It’s a trade off, either risk losing the ability to enforce humane treatment of the people where the government will go rogue and oppressive, or experience a huge increase in violent crime and murder by other means. I for one side with keeping my own ability to fend for myself and family if it means murderes who are still gonna murder may get their hands on a gun.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! You never heard of Canada, Australia and Western Europe.

And no, it’s not a trade off.

Australia? Where Violence went up AFTER their ban?

Western Europe? Is that a country? I thought it was part of a continent… And why ‘Western’ Europe? Why do you conveniently leave off Eastern Europe? And should we talk about the UK, and what happened to their violence since they banned all firearms?

I bet you don’t want to.

          • Tim jones

Australia is smaller then Texas and doesn’t import people at the rate we do in the US. Canada has a little over 10% of the US population therefore the amount of undesirable violent people is significantly reduced. Obama has stated the high gun crimes are cultural, unfortunately the communities where these cultures are most prevalent don’t seem to simply stop shooting people.

Perhaps the problem isn’t guns, perhaps the problem is related to these cultures of which Obama refers who don’t have the sizable footprint in places like Canada, Germany (who permits guns and has a crime rate the fraction of ours), and australia. Perhaps obammy is on to something with that one.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! It’s minorities that are shooting people! And video games! And movies! And people on medication! It’s awesome the way that guns are never the problem when it comes to shooting people yet trying to shoot someone without a gun is pretty hard.

          • Tim jones

Uh, yes it is. Again, places without the same minority footprint like Germany, and permit gun ownership have much lower gun crime rates and violent crime rates then those nations that import people, and have large minority populations. Just like obammy says, it’s cultural. So no you can’t have my guns.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Because minorities are all bad! Only White ‘muricans are good!

          • Tim jones

Huh? Well of course not, only bad people are bad. Just because they’re minorities doesn’t mean they’re not good Americans. But there’s obviously a culture issue, it is evident. Ignoring it doesn’t mean it’s not there, and not being intimidated of the sensitivity of it, and being willing to discuss it doesn’t make someone a racist or supremacist before you even bring up raaaaaaaaacism.

          • Tim jones

Its a trade off to me. Aaaand a whooooole bunch of other people.

          • http://www.facebook.com/richard.jefferies.96 Richard Jefferies

What! New Hampshire and Vermont have the least restrictive gun laws in the country and our murder rates are the lowest in the country. Contrast that with Michigan and Illinois who have very restrictive gun control and the murder rates are much higher. Don’t let pesky facts get in the way.

          • salvagesalvage

            Once again.

Nations with sensible gun laws have fewer people shot in them. This is a fact and it has nothing to do with state to state stuff which is meaningless in America when it comes to guns. America is awash in them, in every state, in every town. It will take several generations of progressive gun laws to even begin to make a dent.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

You forgot to add your ubiquitous “Ha! Ha! Yes!” at the beginning of your inane post.

          • Tim jones

There are background checks at gun shows. Go to one and buy a gun, you still fill out papers and there are police present at gun shows. I’ve been going to gun shows for years and have never witnessed someone buy a gun without papers and a phone call which is what you refer to as a background check. I’m sure it happens as everything unwanted happens, but gunshows are not open weapons bazaars liken to the bacaro market.

          • salvagesalvage

Nope, there are not. It’s a big old loophole put in place by your buddies at the NRA and the gun makers themselves cuz USA! USA! USA! and also they make money when you buy more and more guns.

I suspect both parties were delighted by Obama’s election.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Yes…there ARE background checks at gun shows–there is no loophole. You would know this if you’d ever attended a gun show once in your miserable life.

Chicago has gun control and 500 people were killed last year.

          You were saying?

          • salvagesalvage

I was saying that NATIONS with tighter gun control have few people getting shot. Chicago is in what NATION again?

Wingnuts no matter how many times you explain simple things to them it’s never simple enough!

          • mike_in_kosovo

So? Is it better for people to be pushed from windows instead? By all means, explain how the concept only works on a national level.

The problem with libs and their “simple things” is that they come from simple minds and magical thinking.

          • salvagesalvage

Ha! Ha! Yes! There should be no gun control because people can push people out of windows! You are very smart.

          • mike_in_kosovo

            You are very smart.

Given that all your arguments are either reductio ad absurdum, hyperbole or strawmen, the same can’t be said for you.

          • salvagesalvage

Wingnuts often use terms like that without understanding what they actually mean. I think they think they’re some sort of argument get out of jail free card.

FYI pointing out the fact that nations with gun control have fewer people getting shot are none of those things.

          • mike_in_kosovo

Libs use stupid arguments, not knowing they’re stupid (both the argument and the lib making the argument). Hence, we have you.

But, if you’d like an example to prove my point:
“There should be no gun control because people can push people out of windows” qualifies on all three counts.

            1. It’s a reduction to *stupidly* absurd.
            2. It’s hyperbole.
            3. It’s a strawman, since I never made the argument that there should be no gun control at all, much less that the fact that people could be pushed from windows negates it.

Now that we have the ignorance (of you *and* your ‘arguments’) out of the way… we’re still waiting for that explanation of why your example is only applicable to nations – OTHER than the fact that it conveniently lets you avoid addressing examples like Chicago.

          • salvagesalvage

You are the one who brought up window pushing as if it were relevant so I matched your stupid with equal stupid the diff being I was being stupid on purpose you not so much.

Chicago is in America, in America it is easy to get guns so local regulation is impotent. It needs to be done nationally for it be effective.

But the NRA with help from folks like you have prevented that from happening.

          • mike_in_kosovo

I was being stupid on purpose

And you do an *ace* job of it, too.

But to continue…it’s funny how the REST of the state doesn’t seem to have the problems that Chicago has…sorta blows that “availability” gambit out of the water, wouldn’t you say?

Of course, the fact that violent crime has been DECREASING for the last 20 years, even as gun sales and ownership have steadily RISEN proves your ‘argument’ to be the load of manure that it is.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

And what would our National gun violence rate be like if Democrat stronghold cities like Chicago and Detroit (with astronomical murder rates and draconian gun laws) weren’t dragging the rest of us down?

Why do you hate thinking so much?

    • Carolyn Pohl

See salvagesalvage comment: “it’s awful Obama using an opportunity to create policies that are geared towards stopping crazy people having military hardware after crazy people used military hardware to kill a lot of people” Hmmmm… so, a CRAZY person wants to kill people. And more LAWS are necessary to stop them? AS IF a CRAZY GUN killed a lot of people? Ummm, guns don’t obey or disobey laws. People do. DUH! Only sheep bring up lax gun LAWS as a cause for gun violence because they don’t have the capacity to follow LOGIC: don’t you think that if prohibition of alcohol and then the war on drugs didn’t teach them anything, that nothing will? MORE CONTROL = bigger black market and MORE CRIME– anybody that knows real people who have real struggles knows that there’s no gain for anyone when more people become criminals due to change in law rather than change in behavior– an example MOST of us can agree upon: I think animal fighting is abhorrent and no one should engage in such behavior- was all ready to vote for a cock fighting ban until I realized it made people FELONS to be watching a cock fight. Does anyone understand that once a felon, no more vote, no more right to bear arms…? And on a related note: The Patriot Act has been used in1,618 drug cases and only 15 terrorism cases. It’s NEVER about your safety- all about CONTROL!

      • salvagesalvage

Once again in places where there is sane gun control less people are shot.

It’s really hard to shoot people if you don’t have a gun, try it if you don’t believe me.

        • Carolyn Pohl

once again LOGIC is ignored… and to quote Larry Pratt of GOA “Facts just bounce right off of you, don’t they?” Point 1: “in places where there is sane gun control less people are shot” My reply: how did you arrive at this egregious conclusion? WHAT information have you based that on? Any US map you look at that shows states with higher gun ownership (these would be those registered to OBVIOUSLY law abiding citizens) also enjoy more public safety- in English-LESS people are VICTIMS when the population of law abiding gun owners is closer to that of the (UNKNOWN) population of illegal gun owners. (HOW do they come up w/ this 40% of all guns sold are w/out a background check? If the gun is not being sold w/ a paper trail, their guess is as good as mine, and furthermore, this ILLUSTRATES the old saying “if you outlaw guns only outlaws will have them”–they couldn’t even PRESUME to know how many guns are held illegally.) Point 2: May be hard to shoot people without a gun but the best defense against a BAD guy w/ a gun is a GOOD guy with a gun. Or, you could hide under your desk with your scissors to protect you while you await law enforcement. IF you happen to be in place law enforcement will even go. And I feel silly even pointing this out (silly for you not me): if you want abortions legal, fine, you can have ’em, because that doesn’t mean I have to go and abort my babies. But don’t tell me that since YOU don’t see any NEED for an ‘assault’ rifle or “SEMI-AUTOMATIC weapon” then don’t BUY one. But I do so I will. Thank you, CLASS IS EXCUSED

          • salvagesalvage

In nations with sane gun laws fewer people are shot.

This is a fact and you can scream at it all you like but doesn’t stop being true.

          • Tim jones

Theyre just stabbed punched stomped clubbed and burned to death. More people are beaten to death then shot to death. I don’t however disagree that background checks are necessary. Background checks are a part of responsible gun ownership currently, although unscrupulous sales of course take place regardless. Gun ownership is a duty, responsibility, a privilege and right all at the same time and considering our leaders don’t act with integrity, they can’t be trusted to misuse reasonable rules as has been proven in Illinois.

          • Tim jones

It’s also true there’s no freedom of speech in the uk. People regularly go to jail for what they say. You’d probably be surprised to find out that’s not a model attribute of a fair and civilizesd society, or very desirable.

Aw, an anonymous troll slimes in to spew the talking points it was given with such fervor. How disgustingly cute, though more “disgusting” than “cute” alas…

Obama is cynically exploiting the deaths of people as an excuse to put restrictions upon those whom have harmed no one.

      • salvagesalvage

Yes, it’s sad but true, Obama has this goofy idea that if there are less guns in America less people will be shot and of course he want to disarm you real ‘muricans because he’s going to take over and force you all to be Muslims who gay marry and hate America.

And yes! Pointing at the slaughtered people and saying “I want to stop that sort of thing” is “cynical”.

        • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

More guns = less crime. When people can defend theselves, criminals are less daring. And have you ever noticed, moron, that all these mass shooting take place in declared “Gun Free Zones”? Have you ever stopped to think why that is?

Why do you want to keep children vulnerable to the non-existent mercies of psychopatic liberals? (the political leanings of the vast majorities of these shooters fall on the left side of the political spectrum)

Pointing at corpses and saying “I want to stop that sort of thing” and then go on to restrict people who did not do “that sort of thing” and helping guarantee “that sort of thing” will happen again is rather cynical.

What, GABBY GIFFORDS doesn’t have a vote?? That’s outrageous!
Oh, I see, they all do, you’re just being exploitative because the media lets you get away with it and you count on the support of emotionally driven morons who watch The View and believed Mitt Romney was going to outlaw tampons.
Seems you won’t be able to exploit Columbine survivor Evan Todd, that must chafe, huh?

The leftists’ message is truly lacking in any intelligence
whatsoever. An Amendment to the Constitution is not dependent on a simple
democratic vote. My vote alone cancels out gabby giffords’ vote – big deal! Does
the phony in the WH think that I deserve a vote, too? Millions and millions of voters
cancels out all the people and more that the menace in the WH says deserve a
vote. This fraud can only use the emotions of idiots to get his way. If the dumb
bas**rd is the smartest president we’ve ever had then I’m the Pope – and I’ve
    never even been to Rome.

So why ain’t he hugging the hundreds of family members in Shitcago who lost someone who DIED? Or does a brain injured white woman serve his purpose better?

  • $27789750

Ugh…would never, ever allow him more than a handshake. Of course, since I have nothing to offer his propaganda game, I need not worry. lol

  • Carolyn Pohl

I bet he doesn’t even care enough about what the people of this country want enough to read replies to his tweets!

    • http://twitter.com/1RandiStarr Randi Starr

He has a Czar for that.

      • Carolyn Pohl

perhaps I should have put it better: “I bet he doesn’t even care enough about what the people of this country want enough to consider replies to his tweets.” :)

        • http://twitter.com/1RandiStarr Randi Starr

If he “isn’t aware of tragedies taking place,ie Benghazi” I feel sure he’s not reading his tweets.

  • LordElrond09

Law abiding gun owners didn’t shoot you Gabby. A deranged leftist did

    • http://twitter.com/1RandiStarr Randi Starr

Foolish one, you forget……….Facts mean nothing.

    • blueniner

I am getting tired of Giffords husband parading her out there so he can have his 15 minutes of fame, and book sales. The whole debacle should have been focused on that scumbag Loughner, not Sarah Palin, Rush, the Tea Party etc. There should have been more pushback against the Lunatics on the left. That was crass of Obama having Giffords at the SOTU show!

  • andycanuck

And here’s the Ms Giffords’ photo pro-2nd Amendment supporters can use:

It has been recently brought to my attention that speaking the name Chicago or referencing it in any way is now considered racist because theres a lot of black people there. Never mind that Chicago is an example of the effect the leftist policies that have taken strong hold of Illinois. Same for Detroit.

  • Fat Hubie

Why? I don’t vote to take their rights.

  • bluewaternavy

The president doen’t want just ONE vote-he wants at least six-from only his supporters…….
    Each.

Ms. Giffords’ allergy to assault weapons appears recent.
