Back to school: Twitter to start ‘grading’ your tweets

You won’t be able to see the next big change on Twitter, but it might affect whose tweets you see. It was announced today that Twitter was tweaking its metadata to include an algorithm that “grades” tweets with values of “high,” “medium,” “low” or “none.” Hence, it will now be possible to rank tweets according to their importance as determined by Twitter’s algorithm.

The Next Web speculates that the new formula most likely will be “a combination of shares, views, engagement numbers and so forth.” As we say on Twitter, “Bqhatevwr.”

Well then, Twitter, let the games begin. You want high value? We’ll show you high value!

The libs better hope they don’t penalize for swearing, strawmen or stupidity or they’ll be in twitter trouble!

I’m thinking that this is something to help prevent celebrities and politicians from appearing as stupid as they are.

Anyone with high grades will be called racist, Uncle Tom or “not down for the cause”

    • Worship Dancer

nah they’ve set up the algorithm to grade all conservatives, patriots, veterans, Christians with nothing but LOW grades. gives them more reason to suspend just those with “low grades”.

Yet another liberal attempt to validate their imbecilic, starry-eyed base. “Ohhh, look at me! My tweet about the number of white men in trench coats chaining themselves to the White House gates scored an A !!!!!

The algorithm to grade liberal tweets will be based on the monthly unemployment rate, divided in half of course, then added to the number of times each week Joe Biden puts his foot in his mouth.

Why do I have this funny feeling that the real aim of this “feature” is to give the liberals another way to TwitterGulag the conservatives?

Because a life-time spent in Reality has given you this thing called experience, which, when combined with a desire to learn, becomes wisdom.

Sounds like a way to censor people to me.

  • ClinkinKY

Let me guess. Liberal tweets will earn an A and Conservative tweets will get an F?

  • GaryTheBrave

I think a lot of us are suspicious of the intent of this grading system. Something tells me we will see fewer of Cuffy, Iowa Hawk, or El Sooper, and more of Mark Knoller, celebs, and politicians.

What will they do with Jason Biggs type tweets?

    • kch50428

Score them “high value”. Which means they really aren’t.

  • Voting Female

This was implemented during the pre-election season 2012 and used by Google to show “high value” tweets and not “low value” tweets meaning they filter out tweets on a liberal vs conservative basis.

The more conservatives RT a tweet, the less value it has thus the RTs are filtered out.

Oh the Liberals… grading in a left tilted slope. Sux to be them.

Who, among Twitter’s users, saw a need for this? Who asked for such a feature? Answer: no one. This is either an attempt to further “Facebook-ize” Twitter, or a tool to justify silencing people. Specifically, conservatives, since they’re already the ones who are targeted most often.

Grading on a curve! Conservatives are knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics and concepts. You have to step up your game to stand out.
Liberals need to regurgitate buzzwords. Throw in some correct spelling and YOU DA WIN!

The initial reason Twitter is doing this is painfully simple – they want to hide our attempts to hijack lieberal hashtags. After all, the Tweet grade is going to be tied into a new search filter, and though Twitter says that the “default” will be no filter, I’ll bet dollars to donuts that inside of a month, seaches, especially “trending” searches, will be filtered.

Then, it will be tied into the “who to follow” feature so we won’t be recommended follows anymore, and after that,….

  • Wag_a_muffin

Will we be graded by current standards? I mean, if we come COLSE will we get an “A?”
