Report: Christopher Dorner exchanges gunfire with police in Big Bear; Officers down; Update: Reports that one officer died, cabin in flames

Breaking news this afternoon in the manhunt for ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner, suspected of killing three people.

Police responded to a hostage situation in Big Bear.

A gunfight then broke out.

Unconfirmed reports are coming in of two officers down.

A CBS journalist is reportedly caught in the middle of the gunfight.

Schools in the area are on lock-down.

Reports now coming in that Dorner is in a cabin and it is surrounded.

News is coming in about the reported hostages.

The two officers have been airlifted to the hospital.

And media is being asked to stay back.

LAPD is trying to get Dorner, whom they believe has access to a television, to turn himself in.

And reports that morally bankrupt supporters, like the ones Twitchy reported on earlier, are showing up with signs are coming in.

Update:

Aerial shots of the area show heavy smoke coming from the cabin where Dorner is believed to be hiding.

Reporters are saying that they’ve heard the sound of ammunition exploding inside the cabin. The fire department is nearby but reportedly has been told to stand down.

Here’s some good news, if true. The second deputy who was injured in the shootout “should be fine.”
