President omits Chris Kyle from list of gun deaths in SOTU address

Some of the loudest applause for the president tonight during his state of the union address came during his call for a vote on an assault weapons ban. President Obama listed a number of high-profile gun deaths and name-checked Gabby Giffords, who was in the audience. One high-profile shooting was overlooked, though, but not by Twitter.

Perhaps it was for the best. Kyle’s stirring memorial service at Cowboys Stadium will have to suffice.

Of course he did. But we knew that would happen.

  • Maxx

Even Obama was wise enough not to try and upstage 160 Tridents slammed into a casket.

    • https://twitter.com/tweetyuo Tangchung

      Bingo!

    • bonnieblue2A

Obama is jealous that even as Commander-in-Chief he has not earned the respect or endearment by members of the military as did Chris Kyle. Those without character can rarely publically recognize those of irrefutable character.

      • NRPax

It must suck knowing that a lot of people only salute him because they are obligated to.

        • Secede

Nah- as our Chief Narcissist , he feels they owe it to him.

  • TocksNedlog

    Garbage voted in,
    Garbage spews out.

  • Kingofthehill

Obama forgot to mention that the reason why that girl in Chicago died is because the shooter should of been in jail but with Chicago not enforcing existing laws he was out. At the age of 17 Michael Ward was ONLY GIVEN PROBATION instead of jail time for unlawful USE of a firearm. If that pathetic city actually enforced EXISTING gun laws he would of been in Jail still instead of allowed to stalk people on the streets. So instead of enforcing existing laws that they don’t do, they want MORE laws that they just won’t enforce either. You can have all the laws in the world but if you don’t enforce them whats the freaking point other than screwing with us law abiding gun owners? Thats right, they just hate firearms and think all gun owners are sister banging rednecks and if they had the ability they would eliminate all of them (Multiple gun grabbers have said this in print and on video).

  • Harry A

if Obama had mentioned Chris Kyle’s name it would have passively suggested that Chris Kyle was in support of gun regulation and everyone would be just as upset. Honestly think of the reaction if immediately after calling for gun regulation the president would have invoked Kyle’s name. Im not saying that he shouldnt have given mention to Kyle by now at another venue, which i think he should have, im just saying there would be outrage if he did it at SOTU.

  • nc

True hero Chris Kyle wasn’t a helpless victim like the little children of Chicago or Sandy Hook, or a civilian woman like Giffords. BHO couldn’t measure up as a MAN in comparison so of course he couldn’t mention him.

    • Joe W.

      Chris Kyle WAS a civilian.

      • nc

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Emphasis was meant on the “helpless victim” part. Not really sure why I added the “civilian” part.

And just because he had his back turned and his guard down didn’t make him a helpless victim. He was betrayed.

Still makes BHO look like a girly-man.

I am surprised he didn’t mention Bin Laden or Anwacky’s son.

  • Drinky McGee

Um, he was listing massacres, and Chris Kyle didn’t die in a massacre. It’s not that hard to understand if you put on your disused thinking cap.

    • Joe W.

Obama has NEVER acknowledged the death of Chris Kyle. Ever. Why do you suppose THAT is, pal? He went all ape when Whitney Houston offed herself, yet he cannot even bring himself to mention a true American Hero? And he calls himself the “Commander in Chief”??? I question YOUR “thinking cap”, sonny.

      • Secede

Obviously, it was because Chris was white and Crackhead Whitney wasn’t….

      Hadiya Pendleton… murdered in Chicago
recently was touted by POTUS during the SOYA and she wasn’t killed in a
massacre either… just another victim of the every day Chicago violence that has not succumbed to strict
firearm regulation of the local government that the national government
      envisions for the nation.

He would have been chastised for politicizing Chris Kyle if mentioned. That was a no win situation.

    • BeautifulAmerica

He’s No. 1 on the List of “Politicians Who Desperately Need to be Chastised.”… With a Trial and Leavenworth.

  • Cold War Grunt

And I note that the children that are killed by abortion are not worthy of a vote either.
And to the lefties out here — I don’t care what the SCOTUS ruled with regard to a fetus not being a child, it just is not the case. 1m+ children are killed every year in the country, what about them?
    Intellectually dishonest hypocrites.

  • $36103485

kyle was at least 160x’s more a perpetrator of gun violence rather than a victim of it. And like most of the country(except for the far right and warmongers) he does not care.

    • Silenttype78

      Right …Obama ( many Americans) don’t care.
The “what difference does it make?” culture.
You (and the creepy cult of Obama members) act as though this apathy is a good thing.

You limp wristed lib-prog,code pink costume males are truly repulsive.
Thank God for men like Chris Kyle.

      • $36103485

We just don’t care. And if he wouldn’t have written a book boasting of his murderous exploits you wouldn’t either. Nobody cared about the at that shot him while he was suffering PTSD. Certainly not politicians who just want to cut the VA to ribbons.

        • Silenttype78

          Pfftha ha ha ha!

What a total Obama-zombie you are!

“Ribbon cutting” jab fresh from the SOTU!

Actually, I care about our military-ALWAYS….unlike lib-progs…who trot them out when politically necessary.

          Murderous exploits? Are you serious?

So,clearly you approve of his death then? Since in your mind he was nothing more than a murderer?

You should “fact check” your statements. Lots of people cared about the soldier (and other returning military members) suffering from PTSD- well maybe not the current administration…maybe not you,or the other Obama-progs….but pretty much everyone else.

    • http://twitter.com/Gator_Country Stephen K

I’m just going to consider the source here – a typical liberal Obama worshiper who thinks Chris Kyle was a mass-murdering terrorist who lived by the gun and (deservedly) died by the gun, but at the same time thinks Chris Dorner was a hero of the people speaking truth to power when he gunned down four innocent people.

  • Joe W.

And the POS has the unmitigated gall to call himself the “Commander in Chief”??? (((((SPIT)))))

Presidunce hates guns so much, he surrounds himself with them, surrounds his wife and kids with them too. Why? I hear them squawk repeatedly that less guns are better, yet most of them are surrounding themselves, pointed outwards at the peons, every waking moment.

    • Joe W.

Says the boy that hates the police with a perverted, disgusting passion.

  • BeautifulAmerica

Chris Kyle— a true American hero.

oBadMao is a disgrace to the nation.
    The Puppet in Chief–a thief.

  • Mapache

He omitted Ambassador Stevens as well. It could be said that guns contributed to his death….coupled with a lazy, uninvolved commander in chief, Secdef and Secstate.

  • jay

Assault Weapon isn’t a term…they don’t want to ban guns or your right of self defense. We should just start banning your need for the koolaid you’re drinking man.

  • NRPax

Actually, Jay, complete gun confiscation is the stated goal of a lot of folks in Congress. They simply know that they can’t do it all at once so they are doing it in increments.

  • jay

Not at all. I disagree with your assessment 100%. There is no way they want to do that, nor can they do that. It doesn’t make any sense to me when someone says that they want to take ALL guns away. This is purely speculation and fear that they will, but this is not the purpose.

  • NRPax

You can disagree with reality all you want because you don’t like it but that doesn’t change things. Here is a collection of quotes, some of which LabingiHamilcar was kind enough to copy:

    http://coldservings.livejournal.com/51731.html

Note the number of politicians who are quoted that are still serving.

There is no combination of laws that will magically make gun crime go away. I don’t care how much hope and change you snort. And guns are not the problem. Maybe we should wonder why so-called liberals like yourself want to restrict other people’s freedoms because they are scared of inanimate pieces of metal and plastic.

I’m sure thats exactly what some poor Jew in early 1930’s Germany said…..

  • jay

We are the greatest nation of them all, yes we’ve fallen a bit, but we’ll be back at the top in no time. With that said, we have half the U.S. say ban assault rifles, and the other half say no. We can’t have both. We have to compromise. It’s like a marriage. We HAVE to compromise and meet in the middle. How? That’s why we have 9-5’s and the President and Congress must do what’s best. There are going to be disagreements and agreements, but we have to unite. It’s like a sports team, we have to play together well in order to achieve a common goal. So while we can go back and forth as if this was a damn tennis match and solve nothing, or we can unite, put a game plan together to suffice the majority and as a a result, solve issues.

  • NRPax

    We have to compromise.

The National Firearms Act of 1934, Gun Control Act of 1968, Assault Weapons Ban, Gun registration, confiscation, restrictions on ownership, restrictions on carrying concealed, May Issue States.

We gun owners HAVE compromised with you people and the only thing you do is demand more without giving anything back other than assurances that this compromise is the last one. So allow me to be blunt: You don’t like the right to keep and bear arms, there are plenty of countries that have the level of restrictions in place that you like. Go there and leave us in peace and we’ll show you the same courtesy.

  • jay

Well here’s a tissue while you cry a bit more. Like I said before, and allow me to be blunt, we have 50% saying the opposite of each other, we need to compromise. Let’s not continue to cry. There’s no crying in America. If you want to cry, I’ll help you pack your bags to Canada. Or should we go back and forth? Cause that’s what seems to get “you people” going. I don’t even know wtf that means. We keep taking and not giving back?! What is this Christmas? I have no freakin clue what you mean by that. Let’s be professional, debatable, and MATURE about talking about these issues. Or would you rather use this as a platform for something else? This ban that has been proposed includes many things then just banning assault rifles. Did you know anyone can buy a gun online? Did you know that in the proposal it asks for more protection in school? Did you know there are so many loop holes in an application for a gun (assault or not)? Did you know anyone can buy a turret weapon? Did you know this ban also includes more investment in mental health? So before I give you another tissues, please investigate and do some research. Tiny brains can grow with a little water. *Drops mic

A compromise means that two sides are giving something up in exchange for something in return. I have pointed out the compromises that we gun owners have made over the past several decades. So what exactly is the gun control side offering in return?

    >>Did you know anyone can buy a gun online?

Evidence, please. List an actual website that does this.

    >>Did you know that in the proposal it asks for more protection in school?

Which was what the NRA called for and they were pilloried for it.

    >>Did you know there are so many loop holes in an application for a gun (assault or not)?

What loopholes are you specifically talking about? And are you aware of the numerous restrictions in buying an actual assault weapon?

    >>Did you know anyone can buy a turret weapon?

Evidence, please. And even if that was factual, the cost of maintenance and finding a place to use it put it out of reach of most everyone and the background check alone would be a nightmare for all but the most determined.

    >>Did you know this ban also includes more investment in mental health?

Why do we need a ban to get investment in mental health? We already have plenty of bans but the laws aren’t getting consistently enforced.

You’re adorable, little cupcake. You have a small posting history around here, you have no clue what an assault weapon is, you refuse to answer any questions directly and reading comprehension is not really a good friend of yours. Come back with a better game and folks will take you seriously.
